We had some Gorgonzola Dolce which came with toasted almonds, toasted bread and a fig jam. Then we had a pizza with anchovies, Calabrian chilli and olives Dessert was a layered, green (pistachio), chocolate and a pink (can't remember if strawberry or raspberry!) covered in a dark chocolate shell. All the food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. My only advice is the parking which is validated and therefore free or way cheaper than the nearby lots is a bit tricky to find! Been here before with my wife. Menu is good not great. This time we went on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was less than half full. We had a reservation but it was unnecessary. We ordered an appetizer and an entree, plus drinks. The drinks were served promptly. The appetizer took more than 45 minutes to arrive, with no word on the entree. I politely explained I was no longer interested and preferred to leave. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. However, I would have much preferred to have eaten the food that I ordered. By the time we had left after waiting over an hour for our meal, there were few places in the area that were open to find a meal. Overall the staff was very apologetic, but I for sure will not be returning to this location, especially given the extremely high prices requested for below par service. The noise level was really loud, thanks to a large chatty party. In hindsight, outdoors wouldn't provided a better environment for conversation. We came during Dine LA and tried their dinner menu. They were busy so service was bit slower than usual. We first got some drinks which we finished before our entrees arrived. We started with the Insalata Mista. The lemon honey dressing for this salad was delicious. That was my favorite of the evening. We also got the squash blossom which had a nice cheese pull. Our mains were the Maccheroni Pasticciati (pasta) and Spicy Salame Calabrese Tartufato (pizza). The pizza was tasty but it was the pasta that really stood out. I was getting a late lunch with a friend, and decided to try this spot. Initially we were going to try De La Nonna, but they were closed for a special event and we didn't know when we showed up. In the same vein, we stuck with a similar style of food and ended up at Propaganda. There was little to no wait, which was pleasant. It was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. The focaccia bread and salad came out first, and both were good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the bread, though my only qualms were that the bread was quite oily and the butter and salt were just a tad bit too salty for my liking. The Insalata Mista salad was solid. Good flavor, good dressing-to-salad ratio, and a surprisingly good portion size. As far as pizza goes, the Margherita was good. Tasty, moist, and a nice crunch on the crust. I found it to be enjoyable, though I may have enjoyed more fresh basil on this. I did find it better than the Boscaiola. I got the black truffle honey add on, and it does not go well on this pizza in my opinion. There was virtually no taste of truffle to me, and more of just an aftertaste of oily sweet honey. This was a miss. It's hard to say whether the base pizza was good without it because the flavor profile was just too overpowered by the aftertaste. The Arts District is definitely coming up with new upscale dining establishments, and I'm there for it. I think this is a solid addition. Though this is a wine bar, I don't generally drink, so my review is based purely on the food. Results of their drinks, which is quite an extensive list, may be to your liking! For the start of DineLA, we decided to start local and check out Propaganda Wine Bar. Had been by it so maybe times yet had never checked in. So we made a reservation and headed over. We were sat right away inside, though there is a nice outside dining area at the front of the restaurant. Being an Italian wine bar, wine is, of course, at the top of the drink menu, but they also have Spritz available, so I went with a limoncello spritz. Having had limoncello in Italy, I was expecting it to be very limoncello-y as the alcohol content is in the 30% area, but this tasted much more spritz-y, and the limoncello really didn't come through to us. For food, we started out with the squash blossoms and the burratta and focaccia. Unlike normal squash blossoms that are stuffed with ricotta, these are stuffed with mozzarella which was a nice change of pace. They are, however, coated in a heavy batter and fried. So it doesn't come off as your traditional fried squash blossoms, being much heavier but also different with the creamy mozzarella. The other issue with them was they tasted a little burnt, maybe left in the fryer a little too long. The focaccia and burratta, on the other hand, was very nice. The mozzarella tasted like the mozarella in Italy, topped with a pistachio pesto, so that was a nice surprise. The focaccia, on the other hand, was a little more dense and crispy than I was expecting for a focaccia. Still good. Nice appetizer! Entrees consisted of pizzas, which we got one of each. The margherita had a flavorful tomato sauce though the basil felt a little overcooked. Not the best margherita I've ever had but still decent. The four cheese and mushroom pizza was very cheesy, as to be expected with four cheese, and there was ample mushroom present. There was also dill but I could not pick it out anywhere, and that would have been a nice chatting forgot to all the cheese. The last pizza was the spicy salami calabrese tartufato with a black truffle honey on top. The tomato sauce, again, was delicious, and the spicy salami posted with the sweetness of the honey was a great contrast. Probably the best pizza in my opinion. For dessert, there was a vanilla bean gelato and a mini donuts filled with hazelnut with a Nutella dipping sauce. The gelato tasted like basic vanilla bean ice cream, evening the donuts were decent, a little overly sweet with the hazelnut filling and the Nutella dip. Overall, decent Italian restaurant, the spicy salami pizza and the burratta were excellent, would definitely recommend. The squash blossoms are a little heavy, and ours was a little in the burnt end, but with the marinara dipping sauce, they were still tasty. You can go either way with them, get them or don't. I found Propaganda a while back during a search for good happy hour spots, and wow did they deliver! They have an amazing aperitivo hour menu with wine flights, tapas, charcuterie, and pizza. I really like their Roman style pizzas, which are more like flatbreads. The sauce they use is excellent and the dough has good flavor to it. Perfect amount of crunch and chew in the crust- no floppy or soggy slices here! The aperitivo misto platter is a must- the best charcuterie in town.
