I wanted to save $2-$3. Cha Tra Mue was next door but their drinks were the $7-$8 range. So I decided to go to Chimney because it was around $5 range. I got the Bangkok Iced Coffee. At first sip, I was like this is sour. I think it's because it was flavor of the coffee. The more I drink it, I am like this is not great. I changed to exchange it to the Banana Milk Latte. Again, still not hitting the spot. Old bananas are great for making banana bread but not syrups. Fresher bananas taste better. I've had syrups made with fresher bananas. I loved it! The parking lot is fenced in and was very empty before 9 am. I came here for coffee and a pastry but got pleasantly distracted by their pancake breakfast. I paid $1 extra to add blueberries and was not disappointed. The pancakes were full of plump, juicy blueberries! Someone else had raved about the pancakes and I agree - some of the best pancakes I have due to the texture and taste. They were sweet and on the thinner side and I didn't use any syrup or butter though both were provided. The avocado that I had instead of bacon was beautiful - perfectly ripe and buttery. I came here with a friend to grab a late breakfast today. We ordered two breakfast burritos with the fries on the side and I ordered a Iced Earl Grey Latte on their seasonal menu while my friend ordered an Iced Banana Matcha Latte. It was nice of them to modify the burrito as it originally was supposed to have fries inside but we asked if we could get it on the side which they happily obliged. Pretty sure they forgot the salsa though as there wasn't any inside the burrito nor did they give us any on the side. There was so many things for me to carry outside (we sat outside because my friend had her dogs with her) that we didn't realize we were missing the salsa and I felt bad asking for it because I had already made 3 trips to bring everything out and I asked for ranch or ketchup (they said they had a spicy mayo so I got that) and didn't want to bug them any further. Would have been nice if there was a tray. The burrito itself definitely needed salsa because it was a bit bland without it. The saving grace, however, was that it came out hot and had lots and lots of cheese, avocado, and eggs. The drinks were such a miss. I tried my friend's banana matcha and liked it as it tasted like they added real banana instead of flavoring but my friend didn't seem to like the lack of matcha flavor. My earl grey latte was such a disappointment. I knew it wasn't going to be good when the latte looked translucent but tasting it was like water. It tasted like someone tried to make an earl grey tea, steeped the tea bag for an extremely short period of time and filled it with ice and water with a splash of milk. Super cute coffee shop downtown/Chinatown! There seems to be some parking with a guard(?) but we'd walked there after having dim sum so I'm not so sure. The location is definitely a little strange in the plaza but inside is nice. The store has decent seating on wood tables and there were some people with laptops working when we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, as well as a number of people picking up coffees to go. Special menu items Bangkok Iced Coffee (sweetened cold brew?) and Kyoto Iced Coffee (slow drip?) caught my eye, as well as the funny "The LA water" matcha/milk/coconut water offering. Unfortunately while customer service was kind they didn't do quite such a good job explaining the different iced coffees to me hence the lack of clarity on what they are. Regardless, my friend and I tried a Kyoto Iced Coffee and Lemonade (why not on a hot day?) and both were satisfactory. The Kyoto was very smooth, especially leaving a good finish. The lemonade was not super unique but it was a sweet and tangy pulp-less choice. Both drinks were around $5 each (see menu picture) which I feel is fairly standard. The AVOCADO TOAST was also delicious even though my kid murdered it by requesting that most of the stuff be removed (cucumbers, etc) The FRENCH TOAST was yummy. The PANCAKE STACK is large and fluffy and delicious. The BANGKOK COFFEE is awesome. I would totally order this again. The LATTE is ok. The THAI TEA and Lemonade is good. The Crispy chicken sandwich is great. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well seasoned. The fries that came with it is cooked well. They had tables for you to dine in or get some work done while drinking your coffee. They have a wide range of food and coffees from breakfast to lunch which Is available all day. We got... Bae sandwich - this sandwich was decent. The bread was good and it was packed with flavors. 4/5 French toast - it was a little hard. I expected it to be more soft and fluffy but it was hard unfortunately. Disappointed at their Isaan Sausage Egg n Bowl. I didn't know what I was eating. It was supposed to be sausage, but was so dry and hard like I was chewing compressed cardboards. It wasn't plump and meaty at all as you'd expect when you eat any sausage. No flavor but overly salted. It seemed like they were deep fried. Also came with pieces of fried chicken batter sticking to the sausages, also burnt batter crumbs here and there on the rice which was so bitter that made me frown. They tasted bitter but it was hard to avoid 'cause they were all over the rice. I chose this rice bowl to avoid flour for my health reason. I didn't expect the sausage would be deep fried with flour or come with fried chicken batter. I had their fried chicken before, so I could tell it was that. Anyhow it wasn't what I saw in their photo. I suppose when they got my order they didn't want to open another bag of sausage and cook because it was after the peak of lunch time so they scraped leftovers on the rack of fried stuff and threw in my bowl. Plus deep fried them. Don't know why they deep fried them, but maybe the cook tried to reheat and freshen them up because they were old and cold. It didn't work though. It made them harder to eat. They even gave me the bowl without garnish. Anyway they had me eat that. I feel under appreciated as a customer and also feel robbed. I would've had a better time at McDonald's. Cooks, don't think you can fool a customer and get away with it. I won't come back again. I should've taken a photo of it and share how bad it was here. A positive was wifi was good for desk work. Local coffee place in Chinatown near LAX-C! I've tried it twice now. Free parking in its lot and plenty of tables for anyone looking to do some work in a coffee shop. Impeccably clean!! Coffee was pretty standard but I did enjoy the Bangkok coffee (cold brew with some extra spices). The breakfast sandwich is amazing though!! I was shocked at the amount of avocado they gave me the first time! It's a pretty hefty sandwich and I love the soft bread even though the insides were slipping out. Definitely worth the price imo. Candy BAE was so good I had to come back the following day to have it again. I randomly pulled up to this shop while I was driving by for a coffee. I ended up getting the candy bae and a matcha instead. Both were absolutely incredible so much so that I had to tell all my friends and told them to come through. I hate that I'm late this party but now that I'm here I'm here . The staff was super friendly as well and therr was so much space to sit and beautiful artwork on the walls.
