waste of time and money! I went in suspecting infection. it was a Saturday where they had 2 doctors, 3 support staff, and minimal patients (as in less than 3 when I arrived. I waited for two hours. Then the doc refused to do more than a urine culture and prescribed antibiotics that are a sister to penicillin which I'm allergic to. doc said if my reaction to penicillin wasn't bad, I should be able to take them. I explained I don't know what my reaction is like as the allergy was discovered in infancy. She disregarded that and prescribed it anyway. Immediately after the appt, I called asking for a safe antibiotic and to speak w a supervising doctor or office manager. I was told one of those would be calling me back. the offending doctor called me back and prescribed another antibiotic. I got off the phone and checked to make sure it was safe to take with my existing conditions. it's not. never heard from anyone in the office. read more

I recently moved to Santa Rosa Beach, FL and was trying to establish a primary care. I booked an appointment with nurse practitioner Patton, I believe son of MD. He refused to prescribe my anti-depressants that I proved a history of taking for over 20 years (the same dose over 10 years) and wants me to take 225mg, instead of 300mg, my normal dose. A 75 mg decrease in anti-depressants can cause major symptoms including brain zaps. I am completely disgusted that my health is being risked for unknown reasons. Effexor is a non- controlled substance and with proven history decreasing my dose so abruptly will be determental. I do not recommend their care to anyone. read more

Made an appointment to have the stitches removed and explained that I needed to have the Doctor give me an assessment of the wound for piece of mind. GPS takes you across the hwy but building can be seen from the hwy so I just had to make a u turn and made it on time for my appointment. Arrived 10 minutes before the appointment time and I had all paperwork done by the appointment time and had paid Not sure why I wasn't called in the order of arrival, is it because it is my first time maybe but that is unimportant. Nurse took me inside and took my vitals, very professional. The Doctor is the best it can be, gave me his opinion about the wound and after removing the stitches he applied wound closure strips to keep wound closed specially in the creases Building has plenty of parking and the facility inside looks new and clean. Michael Sr., my previous doctor, was fantastic. The care was subpar when he left. Nevertheless, I will say that this facility will be a good place for others. It wasn't a good fit for me. After leaving, I found a new PCP (in Crestview). Although it's a long drive, I've already received referrals to address issues and I believe things are moving in the right direction. I had a great experience here after breaking my foot. The receptionist, Shalayna (I think I'm completely butchering the name I'm sorry!) was extremely helpful over the phone and in person - going as far as making me a cup of water as I was immobilized. Alex was incredibly helpful and friendly while getting my X Ray set up and gave me some really good advice for recovery. My Doctor, Richard, was extremely informative and articulated my issue in a way that was easy to understand. I was provided a clear explanation of next steps, and what my recovery would look like. I have had some poor experiences in urgent care, but at Urgent Care South, I was taken care of like one of their own and am extremely grateful I had them by my side. read more

I waited over 2.5 hours at this doctor's office, only to be told to "wait a few days and come back." They mentioned it might be mono but never tested me. After giving me a steroid shot, they told me to wait five minutes but no one ever came back, even after 20 minutes. I also was given no follow up medicine for my cough and raw sore throat which was the whole reason I went. It honestly felt like I was forgotten about. I'm on a beach trip and wasted my entire afternoon here for nothing. The staff seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. Overall, it felt like a complete waste of time and money. This place is taking part in predatory billing practices. Please see the attached $1,206 bill for a standard COVID visit! My family and I drove down to the beach to see my mother for NYE. I started feeling pretty rough on the way down (fever, chills, etc.) and knew I likely had COVID. We had our newborn son who was 2 months old at the time and my 2.5 year old daughter in the car with us for the 7 hour drive, so I figured it would be best to quickly get tested. I went to Primary Care South early the next morning and showed up about 45 minutes before they opened in hopes of being the first in line to be seen. I was able to get in and was seen by Rachel Arnett, APRN who tested and diagnosed me with COVID. Rachel gave me the option to receive the monoclonal antibodies as a treatment option. I explicitly asked 3 times how much they cost because I'm on a high deductible health plan, and she assured me multiple times that there would be no charge for the COVID test or the monoclonal antibody treatment. I asked this 3 times before I agreed and each time was told there would be no charge... Fast forward 3 months and I receive a bill in the mail for $1,206! Yes, you read that correctly, ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SIX DOLLARS! All for a simple COVID test and a monoclonal antibody treatment I was guaranteed would not cost me anything. This is predatory and is a clear example of a business who is taking advantage of the people in South Walton. read more

Long RANT: Have a sinus infection so Imade an appointment at Primary Care South because they have all my info from a virus visit a couple of years ago. As I'm checking in the lady notes that I have BCBS and TriCare (veterans insurance). She tells me they no longer accept TriCare. Why not? We just don't. I said just cancel my appointment. Why you have BCBS? She asked. I said I do not support businesses that do not support our country's servicemen and women and veterans. She proceeded to try to talk me into staying saying it was not her fault. I said I understand it's not your decision but the decision not to use your business is mine. Please boycott this business. I came in for a sports physical for my daughter and I had to wait for over an hour to be seen. In total, I was there an hour and a half. They won't allow appointments for sports physicals, and I was the only person in the waiting room. Came here a couple weeks ago not knowing what was wrong with me. Dr. Straight up asked me "what do you think is wrong with you?" Like idk man that's your job to tell me what's wrong with me, so that was my first red flag. 2nd was after they Covid and flu tested me they said if I have either then I don't need a steroid shot. The nurse comes in with the shot and I ask her "so I don't have Covid or the flu because you're about to give me this shot right?" And she goes "oh I don't know. " and I proceed to tell her the dr. Said if I have Covid or flu I don't need this shot and she still proceeded to give it to me without checking if I had either. Should have got up and left right then and there. But after a couple weeks I'm still feeling like shit and had to go to another dr. And he actually listened to me and gave me the right medication ! So I'm conclusion don't come here! read more

I am so disappointed in this facility. My husband has been feeling bad and we wanted to get him in for a Covid test. I searched online for a place close by that did testing and up popped Primary Care South. It is half an hour from our home but doable. The website said no appointment necessary but I wanted to make sure so I called and was told an appointment was needed and they didn't have any appointments until the next day. Fine. I scheduled an appointment for 11am the next day (first available). We arrived 10 minutes early and texted as instructed that we had arrived. Got a call from the front desk personnel asking for my husband to come to the door to get paperwork and show his insurance cards. So far, so good. He was told that a nurse would come and collect his completed paperwork. So we waited, in our car. People came and went from the facility. We waited. Just before 12:30, we decided that we were not willing to wait any longer to be seen for our 11:00am appointment. I called the facility and spoke with someone at the front desk. I advised that we weren't willing to wait any longer. Her response? "Okay, I'll take you of our list". Not concerned at all that it was now an hour and a half past our appointment time. Not bothering to check if we were next in line. Not concerned at all about insisting we make an appointment only to be left waiting an hour and a half past our appointment time with no information about why there was a delay. We would have been charged a fee had we not shown up on time for an appointment. Why is it okay for them to waste our time? Our healthcare system is becoming very sad. read more

At first was very happy. Very little wait time and the doctor seemed great. They called in a RX to my pharmacy without telling me. I called to ask why they wanted me to take it. They took a message and said someone would call me back. I waited a week. I called again. They took a message again and said I would hear back. Nobody called me. I went in on April 11th for sore throat, cough, fatigue, runny nose, watery eyes, lethargy, malaise, etc... I didn't get to see the doctor but instead someone named Sara (another doctor or CPA), who told me she would send in a prescription for antibiotics and something for allergies. When I went to the pharmacy, there was only one prescription for montelukast. I called Primary Care South asking about the antibiotics and explained that I need to work all weekend and need my medicine. Didn't hear back. I called this morning (April 15th) around 8:00am, because my symptoms had gotten worse. I was told I'd get a call back. An hour later I called again because I had to be at work by 10:30am, I was told the doctors are seeing patients and will check my message at lunch. In the meantime, work sent me home because I work with the public and can't be sick at work, especially contagious for obvious reasons. I explained this to the front desk several times and asked for a note stating when I was seen and that they had failed to call in my prescription for antibiotics until today. Got a call back (finally) from Primary Care South at 3:00pm, after I'd gone to a different urgent care facility (Sacred Heart - highly recommended). The woman on the phone let me know that they (Primary Care South) can't prescribe me antibiotics anymore because another doctor was able to prescribe them faster. I asked for the doctor's note we'd discussed, one explaining that they had failed to call in antibiotics needed, and that I was seen on the 11th, to which she replied, "we might be able to do that tomorrow but we're getting ready to close now, so maybe tomorrow morning." The medical staff I've seen seem great (Sara was really nice), but apparently based on my experience and other reviews, front desk or somewhere else needs major improvement. I will miss a total of 5 work shifts due to this negligence. read more

My family went to three different doctors who just sent my grandfather home with meds and no diagnosis. Dr.Patton took his time with him and listened to him regarding his shoulder pain and FINALLY ordered some tests! It was frustrating to keep coming back to different clinics time and time again with no diagnosis and pay doctors just to tell us nothing and send us home with pain meds and no answers, We got some relief to finally know what was wrong from Dr.Patton as no one else took him seriously. It wasn't what we wanted to hear as he had lung cancer that was presenting as shoulder pain- we wish we went to Dr.Patton first! He is very diagnostic and won't let you leave until he knows what's wrong with you. We had the same issue with my Grandmother on my other side of the family that lived far away. She kept going to different doctors time and time again and they just gave her an inhaler and cough meds. She ended up having Congestive Heart Failure that one of the other doctors at Primary care South found! The cardiologist said that if they had waited a few more months she could have died. She had a heart procedure and now they say she has the heart of a thirty year old and has many years ahead of her! Dr.Patton and his staff saves lives! They are very diagnostic. The staff are friendly and make you feel taken care of. Best practice near 30A! read more
