This place is so yummy! Easily some of my favorite mediterranean food in Portland. I have definitely ordered this at least every year for tree lighting as takeout, it never disappoints. I highly recommend getting the mezza plates, lamb kabob, and the falafel wrap. Service is quick and the food is so good that you can't really go wrong with your order. It is also really good for leftovers if you over order, which is a common occurrence when I go since everything is so good.

Nicholas is always always as easy yes for dinner. I mean, who can't win you over with endless amounts of fresh hot pita bread?? This time around we had the Lamb Shwarma plate (YUM) and the spanikopita. The latter wasn't our favorite - it was dry, flavors were a bit off. Overall not our cup of tea. But the shwarma saved the day!! The other thing I will say is that this location feels like you have been transported to another place. On one hand, that's cool! On another, the ceiling was falling apart and a piece of poster board was stapled to the ceiling to hold it up... just know before you go.

Over the summer I ordered catering for an office event and everything was lovely. All of the guests were raving about the food choice. My personal favorite was the peanut butter chocolate baklava!

Have been to Nicholas a few times over 7 years and have never had a bad experience. Friendly and attentive staff and a pleasantly warm yet simple ambiance. In a city the likes of Portland size I find the food nice. Compared to other major cities with a larger presence of Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurants I'd say they won't be winning a Michelin star anytime soon. The Baba ghanoush is quite exceptional, 5 stars!

I am visiting Portland for the first time in 5 years and after a perfect morning at the Art in the Pearl event, my friend and I drove over the river to eat lunch here. I mean, look at all this gorgeous and delicious food?! I have been dreaming of that Big Bread for YEARS!

Used to be a go-to every week. Used to be portions that would stuff your belly. Used to be cheaper than a food truck. Now outrageously expensive. $100 lunch for two? Now petite portions that made you say what? Parking has always been horrible at the original Grand location and worse now on Broadway. This was never a friendly smiley place but you looked past it for the value. Last time our food was thrown together in an unappetizing presentation and it took 40 minutes too long. Dining area needs a deep clean.

Check out the best tzatziki I have ever had in my life. Gonna probably spend about 20$ a plate but it comes with a sizeable pita and dip. The mezza falafel was super good and I barely made a dent in it.

My falafel is missing a few ingredients. Hmmm what could it be missing. PARSLEY and SALT. Among other things.

The humus was lumpy and watery. Almost no taste. The majadra was pink in color. This should be a bright rust color. The taste was worse than the look. It was sour and I couldn't swallow it. I felt sick after putting this in my mouth. For those who don't know. This should be sweet and spicy with a nutty flavor. The onions had lumps of something stuck to them like they were old. The falafel was only ground chicken peas. No parsley. This Nicholas is the worst. Everytime I order delivery from them they send the worst quality food. I eat at the Nicholas in Gresham usually but the app selected this one. I didn't notice until it was too late. Writing this after eating a few things I feel like I am going to vomit. 30 mins after this review I was vomiting violently for about 15 mins.

When I'm craving Mediterranean food, Nicholas constantly delivers! My friends and I visited recently before going to a show downtown. We loved the gold tiled walls, low ceiling, red plastic flowers, and intimate feeling. Before your meal, your server will bring you freshly baked, warm and fluffy naan with an olive oil and zaatar dipping sauce. So yummy! I decided to order the Meat Mezza which is what I usually order since it comes with a variety of items from the menu...Hummus, tzatziki, falafel, tabouli, a mini chicken pizza. and a beef kafta kabob. So many magnificent flavors! We also ordered a side of smoky baba ghanoush to dip our naan in after we finished the olive oil dip. Our waitress was kind enough to bring us more naan upon request. We love Nicholas!

We didn't have a reservation, but there's was room at the bar alongside the kitchen. That's always the best place to sit because it's like getting a show with dinner. Speaking of dinner, it was excellent. We started with a roasted eggplant dip served with a round, fluffy pita bread. So yummy. Next came falafel with tahina and green S'hug sauce, which gives it a spicy kick. The six falafel balls were light and airy, not dense and dry like lots of falafel we've had in the past. Finally, we ended with chicken shawarma, a wonderful confit chicken dish, nicely seasoned, sitting atop large pita pillow. We just folded it up and went from there. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. They suggest ordering two dishes per person, but you don't need to. Three dishes is plenty (even two) depending on what you get. We washed it down with a pilsner beer and homemade blackberry soda. The portions are generous. We'll definitely go back and sample several other dishes.

Seven-spice chicken, crunchy toum-dressed slaw, and a double hit of that garlicky toum. Topped with a pile of fries, just like on the beaches of Beirut. Let's get some bite into it. But even before that you can smell what will hit you next a delicious taste of garlicky sauce. And the first bite confirmed that. A not-too-overpowering garlic taste, followed by the crunchy pickle the salty fries and the delicious chicken patty, makes it an outstanding burger with a really unique flavor profile! Well done. The crunchy fresh Cole slaw give it another layer of freshness. The hole burger is a smart composition. If I'll have to recommend something to. Ale or even better would be to put the slaw on top of the meat. With it being on the bottom half of the bun it makes the bun quickly early soggy but that's is or taking away anything from how awesome the burger is taste wise. One employee apologized for our "long wait" and offered us extra pita on the house, which was nice, although we honestly didn't feel like we had waited that long. The odd part was that the extra pita was never actually brought out. We didn't care enough to ask for it, but it was strange to offer something and then never follow through. Service overall was also pretty lacking. I tipped in the beginning (you pay before getting your meal) and was expecting decent service, but aside from someone bringing the food to our table, there really wasn't any. We ordered at the counter, got our own water cups and pitcher, and nobody checked on us during the meal. Since you order and pay upfront, it honestly felt like there wasn't much incentive for them to provide any service after. The food had some decent items, but between the underwhelming shawarma and almost nonexistent service, the experience was disappointing.
