Zero Stars Waste of $16!!! 1. Falafel Arabi: It WAS SWEET and really nasty. (And I cook with many spices bec I make middle eastern food at home., different versions from Greek, to Armenian, to Lebanese, and Egyptian) And do not expect a thick pita. This was either a large thin tortilla or akin to it. I wouldn't call it flatbread. I'd expected an open style dish full of fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes maybe even feta, fresh crunchy yummy. There were 2 tiny cubes of tomato and a little wilted cooked lettuce w/ a swipe of hummus. (I'd asked for tzatziki instead of hummus.) I couldn't eat this dish because it was sweet and not the crunch I wanted. 2. Tzatziki: Whoah! What happened here? Did their refrigerator go out? It looked like turned milk. At first I thought they made it w/quinoa because it was so LUMPY. It was NOT CREAMY. And It was so full of oil it spilled into the bag. Oil in tzatziki? The menu says, "Minty Tzatziki (V, GF) Creamy, organic greek yogurt dip infused with fresh mint, crisp chopped cucumber, minced garlic, and zesty lemon. Herby, cooling, both light and satisfying. The perfect accompaniment to a warm, spicy meal." Nope. Entire meal went into the compost bin. The man was nice though. read more

The food was good. I got the sampler mezza with beef kebabs. All the food was done well and they gave a healthy portion of tzatziki on the side which was very good. The only complaint I have is that it's a sampler plate and with three different spreads to sample, I received only one small pita on the side. I did ask for another pita at the cart after receiving the order and was accommodated but seems like this should be a given considering you're sampling dips. Still very good quality dips and kebobs. read more

Found this cart next to Bing Mi, so got a chicken shawarma plate for the kid while we waited to get food from bing mi. Nice gentleman took the order and food was prepared fresh on a pan and ended up being delicious! Great flavors on the chicken and garlic sauce and hummus. I had to steal few bites from the kid since the crepe from bing mi did not do anything for me. This was so much fresher and tastier! I am a lover of shawarma anywhere, but tried to be adventurous with a chinese crepe on my trip. Chicken shawarma would have been a much better meal in this group of food carts. Should have known when some construction folks sitting at the table were waiting for food from here. Hot fresh flavorful foods that fills you up, seems the local guys know what to eat for lunch. Kid had his fill and we took leftovers to hotel. He ate the leftovers later in the day and still enjoyed it, so he's a fan! read more

The lamb Schwab a plate is my go-to! The lamb is tender and juicy with hints of lemon and rosemary, served over a bed of jasmine rice with salad on the side, it is a very satisfying meal. Order the rosemary bread and one or two of the sweet date cookies and your set for two meals! Located in the Colony food truck pod in the heart of St. John's, the aroma of grilled meat is so intoxicating. In addition to lamb, they have tender chicken and gyro meat, both of which I also love. All can be made into a gyro or the plate dinner. They also have falafels if that's your thing. Plenty of tables in both sun and shade to enjoy your meal there. This food truck is located in the small area of other food trucks like Bing Mi, etc. We tried the falafel mezze which was a generous amount of food for $13 including tax. The order comes with falafel, a slightly spicy dipping sauce, pita, hummus, baba ganoush, and tzatziki. The falafel is crispy and has just the right amount of moisture, and pairs well with the slightly spicy dipping sauce. The tzatziki is refreshing and the baba ganoush is good. The hummus is a bit pasty and the pita bread is not too soft, so those were some misses. I tried the lamb Shawarma Wrap ($14) and it was a big boy. Full of fresh parsley, tomato and juicy lamb flavor wrapped in a warm toasted tortilla. Comes with a side of tuum (garlic cream) and parsley sauce. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the lamb wasn't as tender of a cut as I usually have with shawarma, more like steak bits this time, but still juicy. This review is for a deliver order: Being middle eastern myself, I look for cooking from regions where my family isn't from. I like to see how different areas make similar things. Abbas was good. The non meat items we had were excellent. We had falafel, tzatziki, hummus, baba ganoush, and awesome bread. Both their flat bread and rosemary bread were awesome. The meats we tried were ok. We had 3 kinds and their chicken was the best. The others were just ok. They were greatly enhanced by their yogurt and their mint sauces. Go check them out. The food is pretty solid. read more

I love this cart. Oh well, haters gonna h8. I'll drive across the city for one of their plates, they're so good! They consistently hook it up with the large portions, plus lots of sides. I typically order the Mixed Meat Plate. Come with chicken kebab, which is my fave. Get a baklava, too. Very tasty. A solid choice if you have a big appetite, like me lol read more

First time here and it blew away any expectations. The chicken in both our plate and schwarma was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Super fresh produce in the plate and in our side of tzatziki. The falafel and soft bread were so delicious. I may have over-stuffed myself on that soft bread, but totally worth it. I couldn't stop. The hot sauce was an excellent addition to spice things up in all the dishes now and then. The cookies were a unique treat that I enjoyed a lot -- just sweet enough and a light finish to a great meal. Highly recommend this cart. We'll be keeping it in mind for future takeout nights! read more

I love middle eastern and Mediterranean food. This is a diamond in the rough. Now located on 15th and Alberta this family run Syrian food cart hits the spot when you want really fresh falafel, homemade baklava and amazing baba ganoush. Things may be a little different than you are used to if you frequent Nicholas' or Hoda. Humus is a bit thinner, tabouleh is a bit coarser, and dolma are quiet delicate. My suggestion for improvement would to not have the garlic sauce out on top of the plates but get it on the side. Also, the rosemary bread is great. Beautiful and my kids love it but I don't think it has any rosemary in it. It's another spice but not sure what. There was an amazing dessert that he snuck in my bag. It was like a handpie filled with coconut and walnuts and soaked in syrup. This truly was a wonderful surprise. I'll be ordering that again. My kids loved the tzatziki, almost more of a cucumber yogurt salad. read more

This is absolutely the worst Middle Eastern food i've ever had- the naan was super leathery and felt like I was eating a deconstructed leather purse. The lamb was super chewy and not well seasoned, the rice was also dry. The humus had no flavor and the toum was the most concerning clumpy, jiggly texture i've ever seen- think of a gelatinous cottage cheese. it was also unremarkably not garlicky, which is why i get why they don't charge for it now. the zhoug i got was rancid and couldn't even be eaten. I didn't finish any of what i ordered and tossed all of it after eating the rice i could salvage- would NOT recommend. Tons of better options at the same (or better) price. read more

This is my second time eating at Abbas. I was very Disappointed. I ordered a lamb gyro. I very specifically asked for no lettuce on my gyro. I even told them why. I knew I would not be eating it Right away and have to warm it up when I got home. I assumed my very clear and specific Instructions Were followed. Well they were not followed. My food was cold when I got home so I warmed it up. I took a bite and spit it out Because all I could taste was warm watery mushy lettuce. I had to throw the entire sandwich out. I don't know if You have ever had Warm, mushy, watery Lettuce But it's disgusting! I know I could not have been more clear in my request and my instructions I tried to call but could not get through. I am now out the $14 With nothing in my tummy. Really bad end to my Monday. I do not think I'll be returning to Abbas. read more

Ordered on Postmates and got the wrong order.. Received two wraps instead of the gyros we ordered. They were gross.. room temperature, filled with a mushy Greek salad and swimming in what seemed to be an attempt at ranch/tzatziki.. Not sure which. I'll be surprised if we don't get sick. Also charged for a side of garlic sauce which they didn't even bother to include in the bag. read more

The food was pretty good. The gyro was better than a store bought, and the lamb shawarma was decent. There was a bit of gristle which I know is more of my personal issue. The fries were extremely underdone and had to be baked for about 10 minutes to crisp up. Nice people and will try again read more

I'm so happy this cart is in my neighborhood. It's not quite what I'm used to when it comes to Middle Eastern standard fair. The spices are a little different and the yogurt in the tzatziki is a little opaque and thin. But don't let that stop you! It's so freaking delicious! And the value is amazing, I got the mixed grill and it's enough to easily feed two people, maybe three. Quality is top notch. read more

From the cold and undercooked food to the lack of authentic taste, my experience at this food cart was a letdown. First and foremost, the temperature of the food I received was far from satisfactory. The gyro meat, which should have been hot and succulent, was disappointingly cold. It was evident that the meat had not been cooked thoroughly, as it had a raw and chewy texture.
