Tahrir square is a food cart that is located in Cartopia that sells gyros and wraps. I saw that there was an orange chicken shawarma wrap on the menu and was intrigued so decided to order it. I'm not sure what I was given, but I'm pretty confident that it was not the orange chicken shawarma wrap because there was absolutely no similarities to the flavor of orange chicken in what I got. This in itself was pretty disappointing. The wrap that I did get was enjoyable, however, I'd say the meat to veggies ratio was pretty bad and that I felt like they skimped out on meat a lot here. For $11, I think it was overpriced for what it was. This store is just a stand where you order your food and pick it up, so there's not much service. The employee who gave me my food wasn't the most friendly because he ignored me when I thanked him for my food and just seemed really unhappy about being there overall. I'm not sure if this restaurant was having an off day when I went, but based off of my experience, I would not recommend coming here. read more

Came here for a light dinner because I was in the area and it was a decent stop! Located at Cartopia, they are a food stand focused on Egyptian food. They have a pretty decent menu with varieties for vegans and vegetarians as well! After ordering at the cart, they give you a buzzer and call you once your food is ready. The food is made pretty quick and you can dine at one of the communal picnic tables nearby. I got the eggplant wrap and the dolma and both were delicious. Loved the dolma and the sauce that went with it was delicious. Highly recommend. The eggplant wrap was good but I wish there was more eggplant and less fries in the wrap. It felt more like a fry wrap if anything and I could barely taste any eggplant. Overall, it was nice to try Egyptian food for the first time and this wasn't a bad spot! read more

This review comes second hand, because my wife is the one who ordered the Falafel wrap at this particular Cartopia stand. I happened to go over to Montage Ala Cart in adjacent pod. However, after declaring it was the best falafel she had ever eaten, she offered me a couple of bites to confirm her belief. It's never a good idea to argue with your wife, but in this case I didn't have to! She was absolutely right. Unlike so many other places, the Falafel was not dry at all: it was moist and warm and perfectly crisp. I had specifically come with the intent to go to Montage Ala Cart, and I ended up being slightly envious of her order! I made an incorrect assumption that this would be no different than any of the other Middle Eastern food carts (also acknowledging here that it's incorrect to blanket label them all as Middle Eastern when each country in that region has a distinct culture, much apologies, just didn't know which country this cart hailed from!)...but the food was distinctly spiced, thoughtfully made, and delicious! The Falafel Supreme Sandwich was amazing, particularly the bread. The pita was toasted just the right amount. The flavor of the tahini was a little odd, tasted more like Mayo or tartar sauce, but when the spicy red sauce was added, it masked it. The falafels were moist, not dry, and well flavored! I loved the eggplant inclusion. The lentil soup was surprisingly delicious. Shout out to the soup and sandwich combo! Egyptian food yes! To me, it is very similar to middle eastern food in general forgive me for not knowing the difference between countries. We got the vegetarian mecca which has 2 dolmas, 2 falafels, a really good Greek salad (the dressing is like Greek goddess), babaganoush, hummus and a huge pita. Win! Gave this place a shot as we were trying a little bit of everything from everywhere. The gal who took our order was real sweet. We got the spicy chicken shawarma with hummus and falafels as our two sides. We also ordered a spicy chicken gyro to try. Everything looked good when it came out. The shawarma was neatly put together in a take out box. The bed of rice underneath the chicken had some good flavors. The falafels were crispy and delightful- not dry. We didn't care too much for the chicken, which is the main star of this dish. Yes we asked for spicy, but that was all that you tasted. We couldn't taste any of the other spices used to prepare this chicken, that's how overpowering it was. The hummus was average. The chicken gyro was slightly disappointing. Note that they include pickles in it, which I've never had before, but wanted to try to see if it was a good addition. It's diced up pickles added to the mix of the lettuce, along with diced tomatoes and cucumbers. It was on a large pita, layered with shredded lettuce, the mixture of diced veggies, the spicy chicken, and a glob of tzatziki sauce. The gyro came in a basket with foil, and laid out like it was a taco. Eventually, the pita got soggy from the lettuce and sauce mix, so I wasn't able to hold the gyro correctly and started eating with a plastic fork and knife. Again, the chicken wasn't flavorful, just full of spice that was overpowering. The sauce was okay. I'd say the best thing out of everything that was ordered were the falafels. In addition to that, I also asked for a diet coke and didn't receive it when we got the food. So, I went back, and another guy asked for my receipt, which we did not get one. I told him that and he said he was just kidding. It just made me feel really EHHH about it. read more

Because so many of the Food Carts looked so good we decided that our party of four would all order from different food carts and eat them all Family Style...our favourite way of eating so that we can try more foods when we are out!! Tahrir Square was our favourite for sure!! For our meal we easily agreed on the Orange Chicken Shawarma!
