The only option was a tiny table in the back with two uncomfortable chairs directly across from the sinks. If you're coming in for a haircut or blowout, this probably wouldn't matter. But for a salon that promotes its color services, I found the setup surprising. I get my color done every two- three weeks, so the overall salon experience matters to me. I want to be able to relax and be comfortable while my color processes, and unfortunately this salon just didn't deliver that for me.

First of all, I know everybody affiliated with this Salon is excellent so I'm going to just tell you about the two typist I had today and again they are all absolutely amazing and so talented. Nicole did my coloring and she knew exactly what I needed done before I even explained in my consultation with her and she did exactly as she promised and I think she thinks even better ha ha! I came in with oxidized gold RG hair and walked out with the most delightful, neutral, beige, exactly what I wanted and it's still at the shiny gold highlights without having it highlighted, in the sun, and even in the dressing room, I noticed it under the lights so it still had that sprinkle of golden blonde as if I was at the beach, but it was beige and just nice and subdued, which is exactly what I wanted. I upgraded to the color choice that contained a whole lot of oils so that your hair will not dry. I'm so happy I did it and it's so worth it and the toner also was at the same company. I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to post it but you could always call The salon and ask for the name of it if it's something you're interested in having done. Thomas and Ross are still there. I had so many years ago for 20 years! I'm telling you they are all amazing and you will never be disappointed! I was so happy to see Tom but Ross wasn't in today or at least not when I was there. Just wanted to say hello. I then had a haircut by Cameron and I gave him 100% weight to cut it anyway he wanted it as it was below my shoulder, dried out, frizzy, shedding, out of shape past five or six months due to an accident I had and therefore could not attend any Salon. I didn't want him to save any bad hair just to cut it all off! He found a way to keep a little bit of length down to the bottom of my neck, which was ideal for me and he layered gently any hair that was higher than neck length to take off all the damaged hair. I thought it would take three visits months apart and yet he did it all in one visit by just gently layering and of course, cutting off several inches of the bad hair, which I knew I needed done immediately today! Both stylist did an amazing job and both had the most beautiful personalities. And of course, there's the Manager, Vassilio, and I apologize and I will correct the spelling as soon as I see her again! I looked up the directory for over a half hour so I did try to get it correct! Anyway, she is lovely on the telephone and so helpful and just beautiful in person, inside out! The whole entire experience was such such a joy and I had an accident about a year ago and looked forward to this day all year long. It was one of my happiest days in a long time so thank you John Barrett Salon, and those I mentioned and the lovely people I met in passing and the people I knew from a few years back. It's a fairly long review, but I hope it could help some people make a decision and it shouldn't be difficult to know that a salon that was at Bergdorf Goodman all these years, has to be at top Salon! The salon interior is lovely and an experience in of itself: a pristine white loft on the fourth floor. It's well-designed, minimalist and sun kissed, making for a bright and lovely experience. The salon staff are efficient and so pleasant making the overall experience a boost to your day. I had a single process (with Tam) and cut (with Chen). Both were done professionally. Tam is such a pleasant and kind coiffure. Chen does an amazing blow dry and is a very talented hairdresser. He does good haircuts too. I cannot recommend both of them enough after the pleasant experience I had, right down to the thoughtfully prepared cappuccino and biscotti for their clients. The one thing that places this salon in my favourites list is the fact that they use Kerastase products which are really so agreeable with my hair type and have been a product that I have used since my 20's at hairdressers around the world. The Kerstase shampoos and conditioners brought back such nice and happy memories ... The prices range from USD 165-200 dollars for a single process. About USD 155- 258 dollars for a cut and USD 67-150 dollars for a blow dry. The only thing I would change or ask more of at this salon would be music, music, MUSIC! It's always great to have some tunes playing in the background as you get pretty or prettier, as the case maybe. Enjoy your time at Salon SCK. It's a dream to have your hair in their good hands.

SCAM & FRAUD! HAD TO CALL POLICE!!…read more Owner of hair salon offers nail services in salon - watch out for their price fraud! Salon quoted me $65 for a Russian gel manicure via phone call and I confirmed the price when I walked in the next day (today). Upon checkout, they charged me $95! I told them this was not what I consented to. They would not budge despite admitting it was their fault in misquoting me, not having the service on their price list, administering hard gel without my request or consent but charging extra for it, and claimed taking off previous gel costs $25 (I confirmed they don't charge for this if you're getting gel again on the call prior to service). Police had to be called - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE DO NOT GO. Police confirmed they've been called to this salon before. None of the employees could keep their rates straight - complete SCAM. FYI - reason they have high reviews is because they give a discount to customers to leave good reviews. I'm guessing that's to combat the ongoing bad reviews for their price fraud (look through reviews, it's a theme).

After scouring yelp trying to find the perfect salon to go to , I settled for The Little Hair Shoppe. It had spectacular reviews and so many tips that mentioned Dustin. I immediately called in and booked an appointment with him. I had called to get a cut and color but Dustin wasn't going to have enough time for the color. I had arrived an hour before my appointment and Rob was gracious enough to connect me with Marisa. She had agreed to do both my cut and color. While I was reluctant at first , since I hadn't remembered reading much about Marisa, I am actually glad that Dustin wasn't available because Marisa has just earned herself a lifelong client. Marisa and I sat down and discussed what exactly I was looking for. It was my first time getting a color job done in a salon so I was very nervous and wasn't sure what to expect. I have a small round face and was looking to get a fringe cut with some highlights or an ombre. Marisa took a look at the pictures I had saved on my phone for reference and was instantly able to visualize the perfect cut and color style for me. Mind you, she is the only hair stylist to date that has NOT turned me down for a full on bang/fringe cut. I had asked for a fringe cut before from other stylists and they had all said that my face was too small and the cut would not look on my face. Boy, were the wrong-- I look gorgeous! ;) I ended up going with chestnutty highlights and bangs across my forehead with deep layers. Marisa was patient in explaining all my questions about the process and how to manage my hair after. Since I lack visualization skills, I heavily leaned on Marisa's expertise and skills-- I went with her choice of highlight colors. We were both on the same page. I was looking for a natural, subtle look that was definitely noticeable. 3 hours later, I came out of that salon as a new woman. I was absolutely floored by my new hairstyle and the lack of maintenance it would need. Marisa had also suggested and noted a few products I should get to keep the salon look fresh. She also had me sold on the moroccoan oil products that they had both used on my hair and sold at the salon. My hair cut was about $300. Cut is usually about $85 and coloring is $215 without tax. On a side note, I love everyone here. Everyone is so friendly and amazing. The owner Petra (?) does cuts alongside everyone else and is just a great character. Nick the guy who shampooed my hair is also a total sweetheart! Not to mention, the place is cozy and cute -- not one of those snobby, too-cool-for-school looking places that you always pass by in Manhattan. I can say with confidence that I will not be going anywhere else for my cuts and color.

It all started when I went to Olga for a "consultation" for extensions on the recommendation of a friend... and left with a full head of luxurious long locks! Olga has since opened her own salon, All Keratin Specialists, and not only is my hair looking top notch, but it's fun to go! Olga is truly gifted and Auggie, who has done my hair several times when Olga wasn't available, has got that special touch, too! Not only are they incredibly talented but they are also the best, warmest and kindest people. It's a true pleasure to spend time with them. Oh, and I should mention, they have a unique technique for doing extensions that does not damage my hair one bit and still allows me to put my hair up on a high ponytail, two rarities with other extensions.
