Haircuts take around an hour, but coloring services can take over 3 hours and are hard to book. You can book haircuts kind of last minute but book coloring a month in advance if you can!

While disappointing results can sometimes happen, what bothered me most was the complete lack of communication afterward. I reached out to Masaki on May 13 regarding my concerns and attempted to resolve the issue privately. I never received a response. It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

This really pissed me off because in the middle of my appointment, I even heard an assistant ask in Mandarin "is she getting a haircut?" and the stylist shook his head. I was really unhappy with my hair that I went to get a hair treatment (for the dry, damaged hair) and toner at a different salon a week later. That stylist even asked "who did your hair?"

I'll give them an A for effort though although it looked nothing like the picture. The massage was amazing. She did a really great job. Most of my massages are pretty rough but she did a great job with light to medium pressure. I really liked the glass of champagne and the chocolate truffles. The private soak was nice but I really enjoyed the sauna. It was definitely a great experience. Came out feeling revitalized. My boyfriend really enjoyed the massage and the amenities.

Kadir at Honeybliss is the best stylist in NYC!! I have been seeing him for 5+ years after first discovering him at Mure and would follow him anywhere. He is always honest about the state of my hair and makes the best recommendations. I have always walked out of the salon happy with the results. He is also a great person all around - I look forward to catching up with him at my quarterly hair appointments. Haircuts in NYC can be very expensive but at Honeybliss its reasonable and you get exactly what you pay for. Kadir and his team do really amazing blonde highlights and are experts in color. I have been getting my hair done with their salon for years, and have very dark hair naturally-- and they are super careful in taking good care of my hairs texture and always create such a beautiful and polished look. It's super helpful that they listen and have a team of stylists and assistants to help keep the process moving along at a good pace and have a nice atmosphere at the salon. Michelle is hands down the BEST colorist and stylist I've ever had! I've been coloring my hair for at least 20 years, and no one does it better. i was a little thrown off because nobody was really talking in there and my hairdresser did not ask me many questions or anything really. i was really nervous and confused, honestly felt off and not really vibing. I'm so happy I found Kadir and this salon! I went to Kadir after reading the rave reviews, and he truly is an artist. I'm fairly picky and wasn't really happy with the last salon I went to. He's incredible and kind, and patient as well. Sidenote, somehow he's fast while also being extremely meticulous. The salon is nice and everyone there is really sweet. To say that Kadir is a magician is an understatement! He has this unique ability to perfectly understand exactly what it is that you want and are looking for and beyond exceeds expectations. The initial color was too dark, but I didn't realise until I got home. I emailed them and they responded very quickly, offering to fix the color. My experience was absolutely heartbreaking. I have given this a lot of time (7/16) before posting,…read morebut in the end, I decided that I do not want this to happen to anybody else. This hair appointment was a special treat for my upcoming wedding. I always take great care with my hair--I cannot stand unhealthy, frizzy hair. For the past years, I have only air-dried my hair and never used products on it. I am blessed with straight hair that, when cut by a professional, falls just right and does not require additional attention. When I booked this appointment with Arsen, I was told that I would have an appointment with a Master cutter and colorist. Given Arsen's Instagram posts and him being the owner, I fully trusted this statement. After paying a deposit via Zelle to secure the appointment, I was looking forward to the experience. Jhese (Jessie) was this "master" hair cutter. When he got to me, he didn't even say hello or introduce himself; he just started with, "So what are you looking to get done?" I introduced myself and showed him photos of my hair done in the past, explaining that I wanted a similar result using the balayage method. Once Jhese (Jessie) started to work on my hair, I was surprised as he used a hairdryer to separate the strands before slathering on the bleach. He then proceeded to matte my hair with a comb. I asked him about this method, and he said some people separate with a comb but that he believed in working smarter, not harder. In hindsight, I really should have gotten up and left, but I trusted the process, and I had already paid a significant deposit. Things only got worse from there. An hour into this process, he had not yet reached the front of my head, and it dawned on me that the back of my hair had been festering in thick bleach for far longer than it should. Once he finished with the front, he put me under a heater. After that, he slathered on toner or color--I'm not sure which--between the foil layers and let that sit. I say "slather" because he used a huge wide brush, and the liquid was flying all over the place. After it was washed out, he attempted to brush my hair with a completely nasty (dirt-layered) and clearly unsanitary brush. My hair was so matted that he used a lot of force, and I almost had to beg him to be gentler to avoid further damage to my freshly abused, bleached hair. I pointed out a huge wad of hair sticking out of the brush, and Jhese very nonchalantly said that we have over 3 million hairs on our head and lose hair every day. By this time, I was beyond dejected. Next was my haircut. I offered to blow-dry it myself if he had a hairdryer with cold air, but he said it would take too long. So my "master" haircut was done with dripping wet hair, and it was so poorly done that I could have done it myself. After observing the abuse my hair had undergone, I asked him to add some sort of treatment to help fix my hair and reduce damage. I specifically asked for Kerastase and was willing to pay the extra $50. His assistant put a mix together, but it was another product. I pointed out that I wanted Kerastase, but he said the other was better and that was what I would get. I ended up leaving the salon with my wet hair (no need to make matters worse by blow-drying it) in tears. The result was yellow, dry, straw-like hair, damaged so badly that I dare not do anything else to it except cut off the worst damage. I messaged Arsen on my way home, and he assured me that Jhese could fix it. Not in a million years was I ever going to let him touch my hair again. How can you fix fried hair? My hair is fried, and it will take years to grow it out. After many distraught messages and receiving a few calls from Arsen while I was at work, the messages stopped when I expressed that I was not comfortable speaking on the phone and preferred responses in writing. Only when I posted on Yelp did Arsen message me and agree to a full refund by the end of the day. It was the absolute minimum in my book. As I now have to live with my hair and wait until it grows out. If I were financially better off, I would have sued, but I am not, so at the very least, I will post m review so this does not happen to another person. When I set out to get my hair done for my wedding, not in a million years, did I think I would end up with this result. In my opinion, Jhese should not be allowed to do hair. I requested information about where he got his "master" certification but none was provided. When you charge these fees, you expect a truly schooled and experienced hairdresser. Arsen might be such a person, but I can not say the same for Jhesie. I have attached images for reference; you can be the judge. If you love your hair, be warned and enter at your own risk.

This was an absolutely traumatizing experience. I went to the Murray Hill location to get my roots…read moredone and tone my hair, which was a mix of strawberry blonde and old highlights. I showed the stylist a reference photo and explained that I wanted a copper tone, not too dark, just something to even everything out. When she finished, my hair was nearly black. I was shocked. I immediately said this wasn't what I asked for, and instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering a helpful solution, the stylist insisted that I had asked her to match my roots. I hadn't. She got defensive, combative, and started yelling at me. The receptionist stepped in and was more empathetic. She agreed something had gone wrong and offered to send me to their uptown location to fix it. I asked very clearly if I would be charged, and she said no. I even asked again before leaving, and she repeated that I wouldn't be charged by either location. I paid out of pocket to Uber uptown. The stylist there, Gary, did fix the color, but made sure I knew how busy he was and treated me like I was lucky he was making time. He gave me a condescending lecture about showing reference photos, and when I told him I had, and that I had been very clear, he brushed it off. I've been getting my hair done for years. I understand the process. I know how to communicate what I want, and I always come prepared with photos. That wasn't the issue. At one point, when another client joked that her scalp was burning, I tried to lighten the mood by laughing. He turned to me and said, "You're laughing now, you're going to have it a lot worse." He was right. My scalp started burning so badly I cried. It was a long and emotionally draining process. The color looked better by the end, but I now have a scab on my scalp, most likely from the chemical treatment. And then, despite being told repeatedly that I wouldn't be charged, Gary tried to make me pay more than the original salon visit would have cost. When I told him that the receptionist at the first location had specifically told me it would be free of charge, he said, "She made a huge mistake if she told you that." He then went on to argue with me, saying even his family pays, and made me feel like I was being difficult for not wanting to pay after everything I had been put through. After going back and forth, he agreed to charge me $150, which I paid, even though it felt completely unfair. I called the receptionist at the first salon afterward to tell her I had been charged. She denied ever saying I wouldn't be, which felt like the final blow. After all of that, I felt completely gaslit and taken advantage of. I left with a damaged scalp, out time and money, and genuinely shaken. I've never written a review like this before, but I think people deserve to know what kind of experience I had. I would never go back.

First of all, I know everybody affiliated with this Salon is excellent so I'm going to just tell you about the two typist I had today and again they are all absolutely amazing and so talented. Nicole did my coloring and she knew exactly what I needed done before I even explained in my consultation with her and she did exactly as she promised and I think she thinks even better ha ha! I came in with oxidized gold RG hair and walked out with the most delightful, neutral, beige, exactly what I wanted and it's still at the shiny gold highlights without having it highlighted, in the sun, and even in the dressing room, I noticed it under the lights so it still had that sprinkle of golden blonde as if I was at the beach, but it was beige and just nice and subdued, which is exactly what I wanted. I upgraded to the color choice that contained a whole lot of oils so that your hair will not dry. I'm so happy I did it and it's so worth it and the toner also was at the same company. I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to post it but you could always call The salon and ask for the name of it if it's something you're interested in having done. Thomas and Ross are still there. I had so many years ago for 20 years! I'm telling you they are all amazing and you will never be disappointed! I was so happy to see Tom but Ross wasn't in today or at least not when I was there. I then had a haircut by Cameron and I gave him 100% weight to cut it anyway he wanted it as it was below my shoulder, dried out, frizzy, shedding, out of shape past five or six months due to an accident I had and therefore could not attend any Salon. I didn't want him to save any bad hair just to cut it all off! He found a way to keep a little bit of length down to the bottom of my neck, which was ideal for me and he layered gently any hair that was higher than neck length to take off all the damaged hair. I thought it would take three visits months apart and yet he did it all in one visit by just gently layering and of course, cutting off several inches of the bad hair, which I knew I needed done immediately today! Both stylist did an amazing job and both had the most beautiful personalities. And of course, there's the Manager, Vassilio, and I apologize and I will correct the spelling as soon as I see her again! I looked up the directory for over a half hour so I did try to get it correct! Anyway, she is lovely on the telephone and so helpful and just beautiful in person, inside out! The whole entire experience was such such a joy and I had an accident about a year ago and looked forward to this day all year long. It was one of my happiest days in a long time so thank you John Barrett Salon, and those I mentioned and the lovely people I met in passing and the people I knew from a few years back. It's a fairly long review, but I hope it could help some people make a decision and it shouldn't be difficult to know that a salon that was at Bergdorf Goodman all these years, has to be at top Salon! First I love that they created their own non-profit when Pantene Beautiful Lengths was not accepting anymore hair donations. The wigs are created locally as well. I really respect that the salon has gone out of its way to provide this service. If you plan on donating, you will need to send an email with photos of your current length and a photo of what kind of haircut you are looking to get. They will not be able to use the ends of your hair so you will need to cut off about 10 inches in order to donate. Danielle did an amazing job. She took the time to put my hair into about 8 little ponytails (I have thicker hair) and I have never experienced that before. The shampoo and scalp massage was incredible and felt I was put into a dream state. I love the cut she did; it is fun and the length was perfect for me. I let her know that I usually just grow it all out and then chop it off to donate so she took the time to make sure the cut would grow out nicely. The hair donation price is $75 plus tax. I had an amazing experience and would recommend this place for anyone looking to donate their hair!
