I use to love come here.. Best part of this restaurant is the Froyo with baklava and honey. But two consecutive times specifically on Sundays they don't have that sweet treat. Not sure if no one knows how to make it.. or they claim they ran out just so they don't have to clean the machine ? Idk but both times they claim not to have any more and the shipment arrives the next day. If you know you run out of product on a certain day of the week, why not order more so you can sell more. So instead we went over to salt and straw and spent our money there. read more

I don't understand how they can serve food like this. I gave this place two chances and tried two different chicken dishes, and both were equally awful. My experience at Nick the Greek was unacceptable. The woman working at the front counter was incredibly rude and unprofessional from the moment I interacted with her. I was respectful, but her attitude was dismissive, unfriendly, and made me feel like I was an inconvenience just for trying to place an order. Customer service should never make people feel unwelcome, yet that's exactly how I left feeling. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a restaurant, and it completely took away from what should have been a simple visit. Unfortunately, there are no authentic Greek traditional culinary restaurants anywhere in Placer County. The restaurant names may have the word Greek, but that is as far as it goes. Ingredients are inexpensive and lacking the herbs, more wholesome grains, quality olive oils, quality Kalamata olives (only if from Greece and not treated to look dark) and unmistakable Greek bread recipies. There is far more to Greek cuisine than mushy dolmas and cheap iceberb lettuce salad mix, and passing off mostly middle eastern versions of Greek fast foods. Even this place chocolate with pistachio fancy ice cream dessert is Arabic, not Greek. There is another spot similar to this one in West side of Roseville where the cooks are middle easter Muslim which explains their rendition of Greek food. Yes, the food is tasty but should be regarded as a fake version of hustling Greek cultural foods. There is an omission of typical herbs and other seasonings and veggies missing from any local Greek restaurant pretense. Too many restaurants must believe that there is a lack of culturally sophisticated diners in Placer County, but luckily I am not one of those. read more

I'm no stranger to "Nick the Greek" as I've been to (and reviewed) their Vacaville, Davis, and Citrus Heights locations. Reason being is that their food, service, ambiance, and prices have always been consistent. This takes me to their "Fountains at Roseville" location. They also have a 2nd location in Roseville (at Pleasant Grove Blvd/Highland Park Dr) but I wanted to focus specifically on this one. As far as the parking situation, it can be very challenging since this spot is in an open, outdoor setting and can get quite crowded especially during weekend days. I came here during the afternoon of Sunday 6/2/2024 at around 1:45pm. Since it was a beautiful spring day, it was quite busy with many patrons dining in. However, there was no line as I was able to order immediately. The interior layout was rather spacious and inviting with ample seating throughout. I also wanted to mention that they also offered a respectable amount of outdoor seating for the more comfortable days and evenings (weather permitting). And finally, they have a self-serve fountain drink station as well as 2 public restrooms. Since I wasn't in need of a full-on meal, I opted for their Kid's Plate priced at a reasonable $8.95 + tax. I chose Beef/Lamb as my meat of choice complete with a side of Basmati rice, and spicy Tzatziki yogurt. The plate also included roughly 6 pita bread wedges. Keep in mind that the Kid's Plate did not include a fountain drink. Total time from the time I ordered my meal to when my food was ready took about 10 minutes. I also wanted to add to those Yelpers that love freebies; if you check-in on the Yelp app, you can get a FREE "Baklava" (with any purchase) which is a layered pastry dessert made of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of food that Nick the Greek offers as the beef/lamb was tender and flavorful while the rice was moist and the pita bread was warm. Since this is a franchise with dozens of locations in California & other states (with many more on the way), they don't show any signs of slowing down. With that said and done, I am giving the Roseville (Fountains) "Nick the Greek" a respectable and above average four stars. read more

This may be the single worst food ai have eaten since moving to Roseville 11 years ago. Ordered the Gyro plate and I have never before taken a bite of fatty gyro meat ... this is horrible. It came with pita slices that clearly were not made today, and well may be 4-5 days old, they were extremely unpleasant to bite into, some almost soggy, some crispy, and overall a very bad experience. Just to make sure that first bite wasn't a simple mistake, I dug through and took 5 more bites, each equally bad, every bite of meat was fatty and the rest was thrown away, $20 right into the garbage can. Talked with others who were also part of our order, and maybe it is not that the gyro meat was fatty, but more that were were served yesterday's leftovers and it was that rubbery and stale that the bite felt as though it was fatty, but everyone's meal was bad. They all ate at this spot on Sunday and said the food was great, but are very disappointed today. read more

Nothing was fresh, the fries tasted as if they have been sitting, they were soggy and cold. wanted to try the frozen yogurt but lady was cleaning it in the middle of customers wanting it. I'm so beyond frustrated that I'm leaving yet another bad review, but this keeps happening. Honestly, it might just be a sign I need to stop eating out altogether. When this place first opened at the Fountains a few years ago, I used to get lunch here almost every day. The food was good, and the portions were actually worth the money. It's been over a year since I last ordered, so I decided to DoorDash some lunch today for my partner and me. We got the Chicken Gyro Bowls, and I was honestly stunned by how pathetic the portions were. Barely any chicken, maybe a few bites at most, and the tiniest scoop of rice I've ever seen. No pita bread either, which used to come with it. Even my partner, who has a smaller appetite, laughed and said this felt like a snack, not a meal. It's ridiculous. I'm so tired of places pulling this crap, especially with to-go and delivery orders. It feels like they think they can get away with giving you less because you're not eating there. If you're thinking about DoorDashing from here, don't bother. You're probably going to end up hungry and annoyed. I went here on a busy Saturday afternoon in the fountains, nick the Greek had a couple of customers. The place was calm and not too busy, very quiet. Honestly, the food is ehhhhhh. I probably wouldn't go here again because I had expected authentic tasting Greek food. However, this place is similar to quick takeout fast chain Greek food. To me, the meat tasted microwaved and frozen. As did the Safire rice. I would say what made it good was their red siracha type sauce! I think it's good if you want a quick Greek bowl. I'm rating it 2.5 stars First visit and last, too. The place was empty when we arrived around noon on a Monday. One other person had come to pick up a to go order and another arrived to eat here. This mall area (the fountains) is super busy but this place is dead. We were promptly greeted and helped with placing our order. Excellent service. The employee at the counter was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken plate with yummy yellow rice and it came with a delicious side salad, several pieces of hard pita triangles, two skewers of thigh meat that was fatty and dry and a small side of tzatziki that was tasty. Randy ordered the chicken gyro. It was also filled with dry meat and the fries in the gyro were soggy - no good. He substituted tzatziki for the mustard sauce it usually is served with and that helped to moisten the sandwich since the meat was so dry. We got a side of hummus...it was maybe too thick and lacked flavor. And it didn't come with any pita so thankfully my plate had some. We're used to the pita pieces being softer and warm and the hummus being smoother and thinner and room temp with a little oil on top. There are tables inside and out. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside. Their own outside music is so loud and competes with at least two other places that play music. I would recommend not sitting right under the speakers outside. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Nick's, but it started with part of our order missing, then the gyros had strange poor quality meat, the soggy fries had an overwhelming taste of garlic that stayed with you all day ... and the spanakopita was just as bad. This Nick the Greek location is right by the Fountain at The Fountains! It's big with lots of outdoor and indoor seating. It's hard to park here so go the the big lots on either side of the shopping center. I've been here twice and the food was great both times. I got the lamb/beef gyro/fries/soda combo both times and loved it. The sandwich is stuffed with meat and the fries are hot and plentiful. It's such a wonderful alternative to fast food for about the same price. Check it out!! read more
