Tonight around 10-15 people were gathered outside this skate shop, and it looked like the shop was semi-open...possibly hosting an hangout or the like. The group was lighting fireworks--loud, aggressive, and nonstop--like it was the 4th of July. This kind of activity is extremely inconsiderate and disruptive, especially in a residential neighborhood. It woke up babies, disturbed families, and created a completely unnecessary level of chaos. Several of my neighbors were disrupted and walked outside to figure out where it was coming from. This showed a total lack of respect for the people who live nearby. Running a business in a community means being a good neighbor. Allowing this kind of behavior outside the shop is irresponsible and sets the wrong tone. I hope the owners take this seriously and put clear boundaries in place to prevent this from happening again. read more

Super cool dude to work with. I still consider myself a beginner skater and I know I still use low-end skates, but I didn't feel condescended at all. In fact he had some positive points about my current set for beginner skaters. He offered some valuable education about what product would best suite my skill level and use-case. I especially appreciate his honesty that his skates actually would suite how my skill level yet because I haven't figured out how to stop without brakes . For aggressive and intermediate skaters, the Them Skates branded skates offer a much better value than big-name brands and has the added benefit of supporting local small businesses, as Them Skates is local here to SoCal. Has every single skate product you can think of and really knows his stuff. Him and his staff were very welcoming and even stayed past closing time just to chit-chat. I can really tell how much he cares for his customers needs. It's so good, I'm planning to make more treks from Long Beach JUST to get more wheels. I wanted to get some Luminous wheels for my inline skates, and he hooked me up. It's a small shop on the second floor of the building, but he's got a lot of goodies in stock. I just picked up inline skating a few months ago and fell in love. Unfortunately, my love for skating wore down my wheels very very quickly. I spent 2 weeks scouring the internet for a shop that sold aggressive inline wheels. I finally found Nickel and Dime and I'm so stoked that it exists. The owner was soooooo nice, and so helpful. *RANT* horrible experience. i found impala rollerskates on offer up, and they ended up being sold in this store. i was told by the store owner to order online through the website, so i did. even paid $15 for shipping (i live in long beach) so i ordered right away, got an order confirmation, got a text the next day saying my order had been shipped (2-6 business days) nothing came. i called over a week later and was told that my skates were "accidentally" sold to someone else, and in fact, nothing had been shipped to me! terrible business. so disappointed. read more

This place is a GEM! My lil 5yo man has picked up skating during quarantine. Someone told us at the skate park that he had a "freshy" and to head over here to see if they could fix it so he could turn correctly. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST! Super helpful!
