I was looking for a shop to help me out and I remember this place in Monrovia. It used to be on Myrtle. They moved around the corner. Great service from the owner and staff. I recently had a problem with my board that I purchased somewhere else. The owner knew exactly what was wrong with it. Sold me a few minor parts and got me on my way skating down the street. I returned the following day to pick up some really cool shoes that only this store had on sale and the value was amazing. Great employees and they have an excellent supply of decks, skate parts, clothing, shoes etc. I took my kid in, who's a little shy and (who I think was the owner) was friendly enough to make him comfortable, he hooked us up with some kneepads and a helmet. We weren't able to make it this month but they give kids skate lessons on some weekends. I'm going to have to head back because, along with the regular skate shoes (Vans, adidas) they have a pretty big selection of Nike SBs. I had a great experience at Stix today, went in to get a new deck gripped and bearings replaced. George helped me, did a great job on the grip and was very knowledgeable. Honestly really tried to give this business a try the first time I got threats and my wife was threatened the second time the owner was actually in the store this mother fucker has the audacity to barely say hello to me say hi nicely to a woman behind me n my wife both he sets up an account and downloads an app on my phone without my permission, he basically said that he was going to help me set up an account but did all that while I had some apps running in the background he decided to close them which I had things but from Pokémon go that I have lost, I'm mad the fact that he closed my apps, never asked permission, and I call to ask if he can compensate he says sorry I get a lot of Noah in here i don't know who this is even though I was in there 5 minutes before hand, and he just says sorry bud and hangs up, I honestly think they should close this skate shop they have the worst owner, 2 the worst customer service I've ever received. And what's this bout extra 10% tax from just this one shop o honestly wanted to give a good review get herrings and leave but he really made it much more than that. I say let's sign a petition to close this reckless skate shop down. Back again for my sons shopping needs. Goerge is helpful and always talking to people just walking by. Great selection of clothing you won't find at the mall or just that easily. Shoes are different and specific to ones taste and needs. Overall I like spending my money $$ here because you get what you pay for. Very cool skate shop they help you with all your needs took my daughter and to set up her board I don't know much about skateboards but the owner was a nice guy then try to rip me off by charging for the most expensive parts for her skate deck he gave me options and price points where I was able to pick for my daughter. Now I'm all regular with my daughter she stops by and he's always willing to help. They also have a variety of shoes and a variety of skateboards T-shirts. We're total n00bs and this was the closest shop when we went to shop for longboards. A guy whose name I can't recall (maybe it was Jonathan but he was a guy in his 20s, brown hair and really nice) was absolutely superb in answering our many questions and we felt he was genuinely motivated to match us to the right boards, rather than just making a quick sale. I'm not from Monrovia, but I found myself there for work. I also needed a new skateboard. I searched online for the nearest independently owned, non-chain skate shop and this popped up. I got really lucky- they have a bunch of decks to choose from, and Danny behind the counter was super cool. I ended up waking out with a complete skate that I really like. Store was clean, had some things we were going to buy but the only guy there was inconsiderate and rude. Went there on July 16, 2020 around 2:00-3:00pm. Walked in with my two boys who saved their money to buy new decks, trucks and tires. I needed some Bones Red bearings for my skateboard and scooters too. The guy was helping someone so we looked at the boards and waited by the counter. He saw us but right when the customers left, a lady walked in and he helped her instead. They took some time so we were patient until they started talking about other things and Instagram. She wasn't even buying and he didn't even acknowledge us even though he knew we were waiting after being overlooked. The guy was rude or not too bright. Either way, not the kind of employee you want. We'll shop around for another local store. We try to stay within our area and support small businesses but not this one. Update: After I left the review, the owner emailed and asked if there was anything they could do to make it right. He said he spoke with his employee and his story aligned with mine. He did not say why I was ignored and brushed off but the owner did say his employee felt bad. Either way, my experience was bad and I won't return. If I had dealt with the owner, my outcome may have been different. For this reason, I'll increase my rating from 2 stars to 3 for the attempt to improve his reviews and business standing. read more

Customer service was amazing. First time shopping here but won't be my last. Ordered a mini board for my son and it didn't arrive on time. My son needed it for an early morning class and vendor said it was delayed a few days. George called stores and a few hours later he located one. That was nice enough, but he actually had it picked up (40 miles RT in Friday traffic) and Taco assembled it in the evening. Service like this is unheard of anymore. Wow! What can I say, George the owner went above and beyond on getting me a helmet I really needed. I slammed hard a few days ago which I received a cut above my eye. I was concerned and started doing my research on which one I should buy. Once I realized which would be best for me I started calling shops around where I worked. George called me back right away and asked if anyone reached out to me about my phone call. I told I him I was looking for a helmet and he told me he could accommodate me right away. Was in the area for lunch on my daughter's 14th birthday. She wanted a skateboard and I looked up and there was this skateboard shop across from the restaurant. We go in, no clue what we're doing, and we felt totally welcomed. I wish I asked names, but a female helped us and I loved how excited she was for my daughter getting her first board. Everyone was friendly, helpful and genuinely seemed happy to help us. From the reviews I've read, I believe the owner was also there helping us. Made my daughter feel at ease, not at all like she didn't know what she was doing. They didn't try to upsell and helped her pick out a great first board. Not only are there a variety of cool boards but the clothes and shoes shouldn't be overlooked as there are some really nice things! The product in the actual store is completely fine nothing is wrong with any of that but it is the attitude of the workers. One of them was absolutely rude and acted as if I was bothering them even though there was no one else in the store. I am all for supporting my local businesses but when they have a horrible attitude. After cleaning my noisy bearings and finding they were still noisy, and after discovering my daughter's board was still a lot faster than mine, I decided it was time for some new bearings. When I went online I could not believe that Stix had Bones Reds for $15, the same price as Amazon. I prefer to shop local IF the prices are reasonable, so when they're not only reasonable but comparable? Hook me up! Sunday arvo I found the doors open but the store devoid of customers. Of course the only people up at the crack of noon are poseurs, Dads trying to recapture their lost youth at the cost of some skin, and Chris, the dude chilling behind the counter. Chris greeted me with a smile, and didn't lose it when I said I needed new trucks...um...I mean...bearings! Yeah, bearings! I flipped over my board. And some new wheels, I added, after seeing just how pitted the old ones were. No wonder I'd been going nowhere fast. One set of Bones Reds and one set of Stix & Bones shop wheels, coming right up. Chris seated the new bearings in the new wheels then installed them for me. Sure, it was only a few minutes work, nothing I couldn't have done myself, and maybe par for the course at all decent skate shop. But I still think it's AWESOME customer service to get your new wheels "professionally installed while you wait" at no additional charge. Chris gave my new wheels a test spin and they spun, and kept spinning, and kept spinning, and now it's Monday and I'm pretty sure they're still spinning. I went for a ride when I got home and yep, I definitely needed new bearings and wheels. Next up, a new deck...and maybe some new trucks ;) read more

Ive been shopping at Stix Ride Shop since it used to be Styx Boardshop on Foothill. Love this place, awesome environment to shop/ just hang in. The owners and employees are always friendly and ready to answer questions. They have a great assortment of good brands with items not usually seen in other stores. When shopping here you can generally assume that the items you get are not going to be in every skate shop in the SGV. Large OBEY, Brixton lines along with a bunch of other brands... Some you may not expect... IE Red Wing Boots. I came in last week looking for some Red Wing Boots, the boots I wanted were not in stock but George assured me that he was able to special order them. Sure enough a few days later the boots came in and were exactly what I wanted. Stoked he was able to get the boots for me I left a happy shopper. Ill definitely be heading back to Stix for years to come. // read more
