This is still one of the best comic shops in the area. I recently sold a large collection to them and the staff could not have been easier to deal with. They are always helpful and do their best to make things easy if you have mobility issues. read more

I normally love this store, but I was ripped off today. The item was priced at $14.99. When I got to the register, the cashier said "that isn't the price". Evidently, they were charging $20 for it. Since I wanted it for a gift, I bought it anyway. While I wasn't happy with my initial visit, someone suggested that I give the place another shot. Anyone can have an 'off day'. The manager/owner really made it up to me. The next time I stopped in, service was top rate! Great location, nice setup, always stoked with newer toys/comics/collectibles. Good selection of vintage toys. Prices can be a bit high, but has to be expected with overhead, etc. Employees have always been personable in my experience, and where others have complained they don't approach you, I prefer to be left alone until I need help. Get the feeling they want you to just walk the store, take it in, and do your own thing until you need them. Owner, however, is rude, dismissive and condescending. He has no idea how to speak with people, and assumes he knows more than everyone. Very disappointing considering how great the store experience could be. If he were to step down and give the store to any of his employees, would be at least a four-star store. read more

The owner is rude and arrogant and very entitled. They are way over priced I was in the shop while he started screaming at people and berating them for trying to trade stuff and he was low balling them saying there stuff was worthless. So because they did not accept his low offer he starting going off on them. We immediately left with buying anything not just because he's overpriced but because I won't support someone that treats people like that. Make sure you read his reviews before wasting your time in his shop. Worst shop I've been in!! He pays for positive reviews to make himself look good. Over all the experience was very disappointing for a comic store and was extremely over priced for a comic store and definitely wasn't worth the 1 hour and 26 min drive and definitely never coming back, indefinitely recommended Zomibe Hide out in Springfield, 10 times bigger and really reasonable prices read more

I went to Nick's Comically Speaking today and had a great experience. The store was super clean and well lit. They had plenty of the latest comics and a great selection of older ones to add to my collection. Nick the owner was very friendly and informative. He was very knowledgeable in comics as well as action figures and Hot Wheels. Nick let me know when the next additions of the comics I purchased will be hitting the shelves. The selection of collectibles and toys was awesomely overwhelming. The bargain bins were packed with back issue treasures (most @ $1.50ea!) and the store was extremely well set up, bright and organized. The selection alone was enough to want to go back. The Wow Factor was the incredible customer service from the entire staff! Nick & Oscar both took the time to introduce themselves and assist us in any way they could. We had a great time joking with them and they made us feel right at home. (Even the random older dude behind the register was cool ;0) We will be back! read more

BEWARE: Owner quick to aggression: horrible customer service. I have NEVER been treated this horribly by any worker, let alone OWNER. I've never wrote a review before but this experience was so awful I had to share. I went to this store the other week to buy an original Xbox game I used to play as a kid. Nick, the owner of the store, was there behind the counter: very friendly at the time. I opened it up, and pointed out a scratch, which he promised wouldn't effect gameplay; "It'll work fine". When I got home and inserted the used game, it didn't work at all. No big deal, I went to go return it today. When I entered the store it was very quiet, a different employee there was honestly very friendly (which I commend, wish I got his name) as he said he could either give $10 store credit or wait for the store owner, Nick, because he was on his way. I waited for maybe 5 minutes... I had nowhere to be and it wasn't a huge issue, I poked around at some of the old Pokemon cards and WWE figurines. When Nick arrived, he was in a huff. He explained that he doesn't test the used games he buys, and was quick to point out my shrugging as an "antagonistic behavior". His voice got progressively deeper and angrier. My sister-in-law, who has bad anxiety, was in the corner. He YELLED about the return policy on the door, and said he could only offer me a refund if I had a receipt, which I assured him he never gave me. I also said I didn't want another used game because I knew the next used game would likely be scratched and broken too! (Who doesn't check their used games and still buys AND resells them?) When my sister-in-law jumped in, he yelled, "No one's talking to you" and exclaimed he didn't have "millions of dollars like Newbury comics"... over a game that was less than $7. My sister-in-law remarked that Newbury comics would never act like this, so he sure wasn't Newbury Comics! Finally, he slammed the money he owed me on the counter, I didn't even want it at this point. I took it anyway. On my way out, he yelled that I was "entitled" I would never ever ever treat one of my customers like this. 7 dollars won't save your business, but it certainly won't save your manners, Nick! read more

I'm so glad that I found this place. Nick's Comic Strip is one of the best comic book shops in the Greater Boston Area. They have an extensive selection of both new comics and back issues. Their prices are reasonable and everything is easy to find given their organizational system. They are also a part of the FiveStars loyalty rewards program which is a huge plus. This gives you access to plenty of discounts and the more you spend, the more you save. It isn't the closest shop to where I live but I definitely make it a point to stop by when I'm in the area because the few times I have been here, I always left with a good stack of issues. Also, they have quite a big selection of toys and games if you are into those things. Another plus is that there is dedicated parking out front and to the side. read more

I love this shop! It's comic shops like this that feel like the proprietor (Nick) actually cares about all details and aspects of the place. Everything is clean and organized perfectly. The owner is pompous and condescending. Based on the handful of interactions I've had with him from going to his store he comes off as a spoiled rich kid who has zero accountability. His new location looks great, too bad he's attached to it. I won't go there ever again. Next time I set foot in that location is when it's a Sprint store in six months. read more

This place is very clean and extremely well organized! The selection here is great for both comics and collectables. The prices were also reasonable (we bought a buch of comics and some figurines). Thought I'd check this place out so I went by after work looking for a few specific items. Sometimes I get sick of buying stuff online and want to just browse a brick & mortar,especially a newer one. Easy accessible parking..... but that was all that was easy. I was never ONCE greeted but I know I was seen upon entering cause the 2 workers looked up at me as if I was interrupting something like I was an intruder or something. Odd atmosphere for a store! I looked around for about 15-20 minutes and during that time I was never ONCE approached to see if I needed help. Nothing! Zilch! So,I left! Oh, and no goodbye and/or have a nice day! Shocker,right?!! So here is some unsolicited advice: when a customer enters your establishment you try to go up to them as soon as you get a chance and say,'' Hi, Welcome to Nick's Comic Strip, I'm blank(insert worker name here) and if there's anything I can help you find or if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask''. Easy,right?! Takes 10 seconds. Otherwise close up the shop and just sell online where you don't need the physical interaction/engagement with your customers. Because let me tell you something, I'm not bragging, but I had some cash burning a hole in my wallet that day and I did see a few things I definitely was going to purchase but I felt ignored by this establishment so I just returned the favor. read more

So this really happened to me:Went in at a very quiet time of day. Store was empty except for 2 workers. Zero greeting from either guy so I looked around a little bit and then when I saw something I was very interested in I walked over to one of the workers and asked if I could ask him a quick question about the item. The guy literally just non-verbally stared at me, so I asked my question anyways. I received an abrupt response and then the guy just turned away from me and walked away. Came in today after work. Drove 40 minutes to get there. Received absolutely no customer service. As soon as I walked in the two "workers" were busy on the computer and didn't offer to help me. No one else was in store. Asked for price on item and he simply said price and walked on bye. Planned on buying $60 item but walked out in disgust instead. No customer service. Those two workers didn't earn your money. Pathetic read more

THIS is a fun store. Nick is a great guy - even "took care of me" when I happened by his booth at Boston ComicCon. I had to sell off a good sized collection of action figures (mostly WWF) and other collectibles a year or two back (damn child support...LOL!) and Nick gave me a far better price for my stuff than I'd ever expected. The guy is incredibly fair, knowledgeable, and quick with a joke...and he KNOWS what he has in stock...and if you're a Pop-Vinyls collector...Oh my God! I don't live very near this store, but every time I manage to get there, I'm treated like his best customer. If comics and pop culture are your thing, head to Nick's! I was so excited to know a new comic book store opened very close to my home. I went in on Wednesday November 14, 2018 to see if anything caught my eye. I saw a small figurine but it had no price so I asked a worker how much it was. He looked it over and then went to the computer to look up the price. He came back with $19.99 so I looked online and the first 3 prices that popped up were $9.99, I went back and asked if he could match the price and he went in to the condescending speech and started to belittle me. At one point he called me a spic and him and his friends at the store tried to intimidate me while telling me they would find out who I was if I didn't leave. I finally left and as I was pulling out he ran to the door with pen and paper and took down my plate #. I then put it in park and called the police to make a report of this incident. Police arrived and took my statement as well as his and I went on my way. Safe to say I will never go back to this owner operated small business and I don't recommend you do either. I looked up his FB page and found that he has treated customers poorly on more than one occasion. I wish I could give Nicks shop 0 stars! read more

Went there to buy some comic books for my nephew. I don't know anything about comics so the man was very nice and helped me a great deal. He helped me find the perfect comics for a six-year old and even gave me some information on how the comics are rated, which I never knew before. He even went out of his way to check each comic book to make sure they were kid friendly. Store was neat and organized. I loved the selection of comics and other things as well. This place is a comic fan's dream-come-true! The store is nicely set up and has so much product to choose from. The comic book selection is huge and there are so many figures, toys, and Funko Pops as well. Some are even from Nick's own personal collection but he puts them on sale anyway because he knows that making his customers happy is the top priority. He's very knowledgeable and always willing to help. You can tell he is passionate about comic books, figures, toys and collectables, and it really shows through his awesome store. Even if you are not a comic fanatic, you'll still find something for you in this store; it has a little bit of everything - retro T-shirts, CDs to fill out your car's 6-disk changer, DVDs, video games, and even some really cool vinyl records! I definitely recommend checking out Nick's store and I look forward to my next visit. read more

Horrible customer service. The owner Nick is aggressive and rude. I bought an xbox game and it was broken. Apparently they said they don't check the video games there to see if they work, when they asked for a refund he said you need the receipt for a cash refund, (mind you it was only six dollars and he never gave me a receipt) he started calling me an entitled millennial (which is hilarious because everything I own I've worked extremely hard to get, and no, mommy and daddy dont pay for anything, I do) and he said I was being aggressive (not true I was very calm) when he came in from his break extremely agitated and started yelling at me. Business is clearly doing poor if he is saying that he is "not Newbury comics" and "can't just give me back my money" when it's only six dollars. Eventually he gave back the six dollars after it started to get more intense and as we were leaving he yelled a cheap shot at us. Worst experience in customer service ever, I've never rated anything one star in my life. and if you were going to sell used video games you should be able to trust them so we were not selling things that don't work. read more

Heard about the store from a friend....went in and the seemed very unorganized...asked them where something was and they did not know.

I have known Nick for 2 years. Have done business with him multiple times. Helped appraise collections for him, and didn't ask for any payment. Also helped him piece collections together as well. Had 2 bad experiences with him, where he threatened me with physical violence, as well as berating me. I accepted his apologies twice, and thought things were good between us. The first week of May 2018, I went into Nick's with my 5 year old son, to sell him items. He didn't like the price I was asking, do instead of saying no to me, he started poking me in the chest, and told me to leave his store or he was going to physically assault me. This was with my 5 year old son in the store and Nick's 3 year old daughter. I started packing up my stuff trying to leave as fast as I could, but it wasn't fast enough for Nick. He came walking towards me briskly, slamming his shoulder into my chest. Finally got my stuff packed and grabbed my son, to leave the store. As I was walking out, Nick followed me into the parking lot, still threatening me and screaming obscenities at me in front of my 5 year old son. After the assault, I made a report at the Middletown police department. While I was there, Nick continued to text my phone, threatening me, and berating me. I have the texts saved, for the courts to see. Buyer beware, the owner is a loose cannon, and has no moral control. read more
