ITS BEEN 48 WEEKS SINCE I ORDERED, I STILL DONT HAVE THESE BOOTS. Ordered my husband a pair of boots January 3rd 2024. Went MONTHS without update. I reached out, and was told they had a material delay and it would be another 4-6 weeks. 8 weeks come and go, no word from Nicks, so reach out... again to be told there's still material delay and it would be another 3-5 weeks. Once the boots finally arrive, they are made totally wrong and do not include the moc toe i paid for. I had to send the boots back, and now it's December and he still does not have his boots. For the price I paid for these boots, I'd expect customer service to reach out about material delays, and pay a little closer attention to orders, or do more to fix this whole horrible experience. read more

Their customer service is so awful and they have no enough info to share with their customers for customized boots. I want to order boots and their website has only customization option to order them. This is ok but whatever options I select I don't see that reflects to pictures on their website because it doesn't have that feature. They want me to order customized item without seeing how it will look at $500 price points with considering their ordinary return policy. That doesn't make sense to me. Irony is, I sent them email and requesting pictures and they point me to check out their YouTube channel with thousands video in it and IG page to find it out on my own. That's something very ridiculous to me. In the Email they clearly mentioned that ask us anything except Picture of items you need. Poor service, poor communication. For the 600$ you are not treated as a first class customer at this level of pricing thats what one would expect. It was like pulling teeth to get them to admit to their gross error and the they thought it was somewhat funny over the phone. The defects are "Character"...that is the quote I received when I received my boots that would have been rejected by any other bootmaker but with Nicks they are a sign of being handmade. Make sure you look at the list of "Character"(defects) that they consider normal before you buy. Here it is... All Nicks Handmade Boots are made by human hands. This means that you can expect slight cosmetic imperfections consistent with a handmade process. Outstanding in every way. This is only my second handmade boot and my first with Nick's which could not have been better. I ordered using the "trace my foot" method then reviewed with a Nick's advisor and the fit is PERFECT and the process easy. The boot I ordered is the "Urban Drifter" in "Predator Orange" leather. Heavy, heavy, heavy-duty boot construction executed perfectly with not a stitch out of place. I know this is an over-the-top review but frankly the boots are over the top in exceeding my expectations. Ok what is the negative... well the lead time for a full custom getting to choose everything about the boot did late 24 weeks. I had a less than desirable experience with nicks, mainly their customer service and a lack of care on their part. I ordered a quick ship pair of boots back in January and received them but after going up an extra size in width to play it safe the boots still aren't wide enough. returning the boots for a size exchange was not easy, it took 3 weeks to get the return figured out and I was giving a store credit because I wanted a thurman version of the boot I sent back but was told I can't have a moc toe thurman so I was given a store credit to order builder pros on the Thurman last. well shortly after ordering the builder pros the moc toe Thurman became a thing. I was also told that pair of builder pros would be treated as an exchange and expedited. I called to order these btw and was told 4 weeks for the exchange pair. I canceled my order on week 7 because I had not heard anything and customer service did not seem to care. my concerns stated in my cancelation request email were ignored and I just received a generic email saying I received a store credit even tho I asked for a refund. I really wanted a pair of boots not a refund but that must have been easier route for customer service. read more

been wearing Redwings and Timberlands my entire life, I wanted a upgrade, so I went with nicks boots after watching many YouTube videos, I ended up going with Nicks Overlanders in (predator orange) and I gotta say these are the best boots I've ever owned, the leather is extremely thick, the quality was top notch. the boots looked very sharp. and most importantly customer service went above and beyond answering all my question... and within hours sometimes within Minutes. i was torn between Whites / Jk/ and Franks boots, but now I'm glad I chose Nicks Boots. My husband has been looking for a great fitting pair of boots for years....we stumbled across Nicks Handmade Boots and after speaking with them and reviewing their website, decided to give it a go. Well, we opted for the extra "fitting" service as well as the "try on" option. It did not necessarily go as explained, but, we paid the $660. and put in our order. It was a few days before we rec'd our confirmation and MONTHS before we heard back..we anxiously awaited the product and did receive call backs after a few "check in calls" and then, one day, rec'd a call that they were "doing away with the try on service," and would put in an order to get us our boots as we "had been waiting a long time" - well, I had spoken with someone a week prior to this call that informed me the "try on pair of boots" would be about another month or so. What? Now they discontinued the service? Well....about 2 or 3 weeks later we received the boots. There is no doubt in my mind that these boots were indeed a work of art, VERY nicely made and very durable. They were also VERY heavy! The issue was that my husbands size 14D (remember, we completed their very "loose" fitting service) was HUGE....when I say HUGE, I mean you could fit your full hand down behind his heel.....we opted to return the boots and did receive a full refund within a few days of the return being rec'd by Nicks. All in all, we were not happy with the sizing of the boots, but I cannot say that the boots were an issue, they were incredibly well crafted boots...customer service, eh, not horrible, not great. I hope this helps with your decision to purchase boots from Nicks....if we lived closer, we probably would have gone into the store, but we live a few thousand miles away - like totally across the country! read more

The website and brochure claim that it takes 80-100 hours of wear to properly break in a pair of Nick's boots. I'm at about 65 hours now, which is enough to evaluate 'em. While my (stuff)kickers aren't completely broken in yet, they're already the best-fitted and most supportive boots I've ever experienced... and I've had a few boots, ranging from elkhide cowboy boots through every imaginable combat boot ('cruit boots old and new pattern, Corcorans, jungle, desert, et al) and more than a few hiking, hunting and work boots. These are the best. They've already saved my rebuilt ankles several of the small injuries I normally endure every few days, and make my body feel better balanced and more securely planted than any footwear of my experience. The honey soles are soft to walk on, non-marking on our pale maple floor, and replaceable. I was a little nervous when they told me they'd be building them a full size different and at different widths, but they by G-D know their stuff. This experience -- hand-fitted footwear, built to a peerless standard with old school craftsmanship -- is what I've dreamed of ordering from White's for many years. I'm not sure you can still get it there. The laid-off Realtor who tried to fit my feet at White's suspiciously boutique "superstore" in Spokane was bound and determined to get my feet into a pair of off-the-shelf boots, which he was pretty sure would eventually force my feet into compliance, and which only cost about $150 more than a custom-fitted pair from Nick's. White's may not be what it used to be. I can't tell, as I've only been recently. What I know for certain is that, right now today, you can walk into Nick's and order the best pair of work and outdoor boots you've ever lashed onto your dogs. They're less than Wesco (not my favorites), less than White's (good boots if you have the right feet; otherwise Procrustean), and about twice the cost of a pair of Wolverines. I've met Frank, Gary, Sarah, and Steve.. all various parts of the chain and Nick's really embodies the spirit American small business. They do everything one step at a time, and while no handmade product is perfect, they won't rest until their customer is happy. When you make a pair of boots that lasts 5-10 years, and needs a rebuild every 2, isn't it important to keep your customer happy and in your product and nobody elses? In a world of copycats in the Pac NW working boot style, it's important to really understand that White's, Nick's, and Wesco are the holy trinity of boot brands. Nick's is not as big as White's and they're a good bit slower, but you can bet that your boots will be made properly, and they welcome any feedback on their product in order to make it better. Also the break-in is real. If you don't work on your feet, really consider the dress leathers. It's not a contest and thats 60-100 hours you don't need to be hurtin' if you've got places to be and don't have the time to break in a pair of sturdy boots in your spare time. Seriously I doubt someone would look up the YELP review of this brand with the internet and all the forums this brand is mentioned on, but if you're considering a pair of Pacific Northwestern work/safety boots and you want it made by a brand with less than 15 bootmakers on staff, all making them one at a time without any automation (nearly 1.5 weeks to make a pair of boots start to finish) this is what you're looking for. I'm on my third pair with them, the fit is exactly the same, and the materials used are of the highest quality. Because if you can find better, they'd just buy it for you and everybody else. Without boring you with details repeated over and over let me just say a few things about my experience with Nick's. I have two pairs, and one is in Spokane presently waiting to be resoled and patched up. I bought that pair (HotShot LTT) 10 (ten) years ago and this is their first return to NIck's for "service". My second pair (Ranger-9 years) went in a couple or three years ago for a resole as they started life with the "mini-vibram" which is a rather thin sole. I had them resoled in honey Vibram and now that's the ONLY sole that interests me for daily work and recreation. The Rangers are going in for a full overhaul after I get my Hotshots back. With these boots I have the ultimate in comfort and performance and durability and was able to LEAVE the care of a podiatrist and ditch the Rx insoles. Nick's Boots are perfect for me. My previous favorite was Danner USA models, but they lacked the support of Nick's more traditional construction. Before that I wore out a lot of cheap "hiker" boots. Usually about 6 months before they started falling apart. MY NEXT PAIR OF BOOTS will be Nick's, and I expect to get several more years from the two pairs that I've been wearing since 2005 and 2006. First I drove eight hours round trip to order a custom pair of boots and to be measured & fitted witch took and hour and a half. Finally after three months and already paying around $600 I made a call to them, And they had forgotten to even start on my boots. after countless phone conversations and months of hassle they wanted to refund my money and forget about me, but agreed after some arm twisting to make my boots. They finally after seven months finished my pair of boots in witch I drove another eight hours round trip to pick up. They did not fit any where close to my size, they refused to resize or make the right sized boots agin and just refunded my money to get me out of there hair. Overall It was a very poor experience, They had poor customer service, I found them to be very deceptive an not forth right with the customers. I personally would never recommend to any family or friends as well as any one who values quality services that they go threw any of the hassle I did with this boot company. read more
