I've been buying my slices from them for over 40+ years , they used to be open late before covid happened, so now I buy 2 pies instead of 1. They still cut the slices decent sized where others cut smaller to try and boost profits. I've been getting pizza from Nick's for at least 20 years. I've always enjoyed the pizza. I visited recently after having moved. The guy at the counter was eating pumpkin seeds from his pocket. Him needing a snack wasn't the issue- He was spitting the shells wildly towards what I imagine to be a garbage can behind the counter. He then proceeded to take an order and grabbed a slice with the same unwashed hand that was putting pumpkin seeds in his mouth. Not my go-to Bronx pizza place, but solid slices, classic NYC style. Every time I've went, they've been pretty generous with the cheese and slices are pretty nice-size. But at $4.50 a slice, it's definitely pricey. At $0.50 more, you're in Joe's on Carmine Street territory. The cheese, sauce and crust ratios pull the slice together pretty well and the slice hits the spot. The bottom of the slice isn't really crispy, but wasn't rubbery either. Again, to me it's just solid, standard NYC style. I got a half meatball pie the other day and it was more like a bolognese - chopped meat in a red sauce on top vs meatballs in the traditional sense, either chunks or sliced horizontally like is usually served. I wasn't really crazy about that type of meatball slice (if you consider it that), but it wasn't the worst. Those two pretty big points being the case (price and style of meatball pizza), I'd give them a three but I rate them a four star because they're open late (till 1am last I knew). So it's great for late night pizza. The guys that work there are pretty cut and dry, but nice. So sad .. this used to be a premier pizza spot on the north east side of the Bronx and now it's rundown. The cuts of the slices are not consistent anymore. And to know that you're paying $4.50 for a slice and you may or may not get the right size of a slice is no longer worth it ... then you have a lot of men from shelters hanging around inside there and making it uncomfortable. And most of all the staff is very much so unsanitary. I watched as the same man who is handling the money, took those same hands and tried to serve me my pizza. Nicks is an absolute CLASSIC! Mark my words, they've been around for literal decades.They have always been a superior quality, great customer service, freshest ingredients. As a self proclaimed "Pizza Snob" I can honesty say Nicks Pizza is who developed my love and pure affection for Pizza. I hate chain pizzas, I am a huge fan of what I call "street pizza" Nicks is what I consider "street pizza". Street pizza is what I define as home style local pizzeria type pizza. Huge slices slathered in a good amount of great sauce and a great amount of mozzarella. I think what set Nick's apart from other pizzerias is the cheese! Their Mozz is some of the best around, delicious and tasty. Nicks once burned down to the ground and built right back up to resume their regular greatness. I have been going to Nick's since I was 6 years old and probably before then. I am closer to 40 then I am to 30 now, so we have lots of history between us. Anytime I'm in my hometown, I make sure I stop in and pick up a slice with mushrooms and shredded sausage. To die for! The crust is soft and warm, thin but no too thin. They are plentiful on the cheese and not stingy with toppings. They almost always toast it right. Beef patties, calzones all made fresh on premises . In the summer the kids line up around the pick up window for Italian ice's. The staff has also grown with them, keeping the same guys employed since they were 18 years old and most who are now 45-50 years old, now THAT is consistency!! read more

Yes Lorrrrrrrd, completely yessssss, my soul says yessssss! I've never had authentic NY pizza. When my sister's boyfriend ordered us a pizza here, I dang on near questioned everything in my life. For the last 25 years (I'm not going to tell my real age, because that's none of your concern ) I have been getting ripped the heck off! As the New Yorkers say "Yo!" This pizza was topped with all kinds of pepperoni and sausage. I don't mean that small rolled up sausage you get from those pizza chains. This was SAUSAGE. The sauce was goot. Not good, but goot. Semi sweet and tangy sauce. The slices are huge, y'all. I mean huge. This place left an impression on me like no other. Someone had told me the pizza here is good, so after a 3 hour train ride, I was willing to give it a try! Guess what? The pizza is not good! I have ordered alot of things from here in the past. Love their Sicilian slice though but the over all experience here I can't say it 5 stars anymore. I was here last week. Crap. I used to live in the area in 2009..it was nothing but slimey pizza that had the cheese fall off by the time you got home. In late 2017, i saw someone eating a slice here and the pizza looked in tact. I started coming again. For 2 months it was good but as of now (feb 2018), theyve returned to the old model aka cheep slimey cheese that peels off like a scab and falls right off. It aint what it use to be sadly to say. And, I'm strictly talking about the quality of the pizzas not the insane 4 bucks for a plain slice. Nicks use to be the go to pizza spot uptown but recently I ordered pepperoni, plain, and Sicilian slices for the kids and I and they were all lacking in taste. The dough was still raw and rubbery on the plain slice, and the tomato sauce lacked flavor. Idk what happened to this spot but I hope they find their groove again. I agree with the previous review, because $3.00 is way too much to charge, especially in the Bronx. Slice of pizza in Manhattan generally cost around $2.50. I could have probably understood if Nick's Pizza was the 'best thing on earth', but it definitely is not at all. The pizza they sell have too much cheese - this is overpowering the dough, which is not acceptable at all. To add to the matter, the cheese tastes synthetic...can you believe synthetic cheese? Nasty! I cannot remember the last time I've been in here. Maybe their other stuff taste good, but I'm not trying them.
