    calamari
    chewy b.

After years of hearing about this place we have a chance to try it. We wanted to try a little of everything. We had the calamari. $18. It was very light crispy thin calarmari rings with bit of tomato, onion and lemon. Dusted green onions. pretty tasty. we also had the Lunch steak 6 oz on garlic slice bread with salad. fresh but unremarkable and then the pizzas Diavolo. overly sweet and very spicy. flavors unbalanced. and the Kardiakafti.. lacked beef and also unbalanced flavors. I brought it to my teen and she hated the pizzas and ahe loves spice. Both of these pizzas won YYC pizza week so i can only conclude someone in kitchen doesn't know how to make. They did not taste good. great service. I would not go out of my way to return though. The pizzaa were supposed to be the highlight of the meal but just really sucked. The ambiance was dated and a lot of photos of memories. Wish we had a better eating experience here.

Thumbs down and for good reason

Hype was quickly squashed We went to Nicks after not only having it recommended but seeing google had rated it so high. First off. This place is an old 60''s style family restaurant. Old time feel. But it's clean and kind of throwback fun The service was friendly and we're happy to get you settled in and comfortable This is where it's stops for the positive I could nit pick this place but I'll get to the point. They can't cook a steak. The NY Strip was 1/2" thick and was cooked well done TWICE After asking for Med Rare. The steak was such a bad cut both times full of gristle, thinly cut and wasn't a striploin. It was a chewy sirloin. The steak tasted of really dirty grill and was inedible. The seasoning wasn't good either The pasta was undercooked and stuck together in a ball which required a knife to cut it into bites The pizza is over cheesed meh. Nothing to get excited about. For 2 kids and 2 adults with no desert and tip it came to $192. Save you're money and spend it at the Keg as they are quality and consistent for that price range I wouldn't roll the dice on this place. Try somewhere else. Some nostalgia and google review hype is just plain outdated and incorrect.

Great food, amazing ambiance, classic family restaurant. This place should be a Calgary landmark. An applicable 90's quote, "I'll be back" Stopped in here based on its proximity to our hotel and will definitely be going back. Nick's is a throwback for any 80's child. As soon as we walked up to the restaurant I knew it was going to be amazing. It was like the place came out of a time capsule. The red vinyl benches in the booth took me back. My wife said she knew what the menu's art would look like before she even opened it and I knew exactly what she meant. It was nostalgia. Our server and the wait staff were all friendly. It was a quiet Wednesday night, so we had a very attentive waiter that made sure everything was just right. I'm sure if it were busier we still would have had a great detail of attention paid to us. Portions here are on the larger scale. Make sure you ask before you order too much! We had a small lunch for 5 the next day based off of our leftovers. Any place that is a steak and pizza restaurant has to have good pizza and the kids loved theirs. The pizza bread was cheesy and fantastic, with more than a paper thin crust. The meat sauce to dip it in was thick and tasty, seasoned perfectly. And portion size was on the larger size. The pizza was a nice thick slice with ample toppings. No skimping here. The house salad was tasty, if not a little over dressed. I'm a little different here given recent weight loss goals, but if I had to find fault it would be that the salad dressing was a little much. Tasty for sure, but a little too much of it. But don't get me wrong, I still finished the salad! My wife shared a full rack of ribs with our daughter and the meat was top quality. A little saucier than I would normally like, but tasty. They tossed more fries than they ate, but not because of taste. Even the fries were fantastic; nice and thick, looking like homemade. The Creole Chicken was tender, nicely seasoned and spicy as advertised in all the right ways. The baked potato came still wrapped in the foil and you can have as much topping as you like with your server at the table side offering them traditional garnishes. Nick's tries to support local, using beers from the area while offering popular national brands too. Their desserts are in house or come from the area pie shop, which is a nice touch. The bill came in lower than my expectations and that's probably the portion size muddling it. Bang for your buck, this place is better than the Canadian national chain sit down pizza joint that families flock to, and that I grew up eating in. This is a special place that I look forward to going back to. It's a hidden gem. Can't wait for our next trip to Calgary.

    Lamb Chops @Nick'sSteakHouse excellent

Hometown fave Nick's Steakhouse (est 1979) is the perfect family-style restaurant for any occasion. Always great service (thanks Tandy!) and high quality meats. Try their lamb chops, absolutely huge serving size and the best in flavour. I definitely want to try their steak and lobster combo but not for the $90 price tag when there's better in competition for that at other steakhouses. The Nutella gelato is locally sourced and absolute fire.

Awesome!Steak is so juicy! Highly recommend taco salad! Steak is medium rare so tasty!

    Steak & Lobster

My oldest son treated my husband & I to dinner at Nicks Steak House on the weekend . We haven't been here for several years. It was a Sunday and lots of people were enjoying dinner out . I ordered the lamb dinner , husband had a steak sandwich and our son had the steak and lobster . We had appetizer of calamari which was tender & excellent. And an order of garlic shrimp in a delicious sauce . They brought extra bread to soak up the tasty sauce . Our meals were generous and we were so stuffed , there was no room for dessert . Our waiter was very friendly and always attentive to our needs . We enjoyed our dinner out and hope to return again !

    Ribye Steak delivered was excellent!

First time using their new delivery service and it was excellent! The steak was hot, the salad crisp and cold, the garlic toast was perfect and all trimmings were packaged well. My ribye was delicious. It was delivered quickly too. I already live Nick's Steakhouse and there extended service reflects there high quality.

But there were so many positive reviews that I had to try Ten Foot Henry and wow am I sure glad that I did! This place could really curb my meat craving and it checks ALL of the boxes- great service, cool vibes, and delicious food. I LOVE that they have half servings and that everything is can easily be shared. I mean a non-Asian restaurant which encourages family style?!? SOLD! I had the half order of marinated beets with ghanoush, salted ricotta, and cured zucchini. The waiter had recommended the eggplant and broccolini which I'm dying to try the next time I'm in town. I enjoyed the tuna crudo but I wish I got the seared scallops. My half order of gigli pasta was wonderful and more than enough food. Every bit is equally seasoned and I actually had some leftovers! The value of what you get versus what you pay is in our favor by a landslide. And when converting it from CAD to USD, I feel like I won the lottery. I need to go back with others to try more dishes!! This place gets packed so make a reservation in advance if you can.

We started with the appetizers, the beef carpaccio and Caesar salad, both were excellent and really set a good tone for the evening. The carpaccio was well-seasoned and fresh, and the salad had a nice balance of creamy and crisp. For our main, we went with the Canada Prime bone-in porterhouse, which came with two sides. The jalapeño creamed corn tasted more like jalapeño grits than corn, which threw me off a bit, it wasn't really my thing. The twice-cooked fingerlings with bacon, chives, and sour cream, on the other hand, were delicious, crispy, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, the steak itself missed the mark for me. It arrived lukewarm, not hot like you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse, which was disappointing. For a cut that's supposed to be the star of the show, the temperature really detracted from the experience. To finish off, we kept it light with two scoops of gelato, one cherry vanilla and the other a lemon sorbet. Both were refreshing and hit the spot for a light, sweet ending. Service was definitely a strong point, our server was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the night. Overall, it was a mixed experience: great apps, strong service, but the main event which was the steak it just didn't deliver like I'd hoped. I'd give it another try, but probably order something different next time.

The "baked" potato was microwaved vs actually baked And it was so cool that the butter I put on it didn't melt. Ordered a side of garlic prawns and got 3 small unflavored shrimp instead that were maybe an inch long if you stretched it out. my sons fries were undercooked (some weren't even golden, they were still potato white) And said some of them were kinda crunchy/stiff. I had the owners cut of prime rib and it was smaller than the last two times I had been to smugglers where I ordered a smaller cut (first mate) And it was cold, even the au jus was barely warm. Also probably the smallest Yorkshire pudding I've ever had there. Maybe 1/3 the size you use to get. We ordered desert and it took newly 30 mins for it to be brought out - my son's "warm" apple krisp was cold he said. i have been smugglers at least A dozen times in the last 3 years and more so in the last decade and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. In both service and quality. As it stands I would not recommend - where as before I always raved about the smugglers inn. For a $400+ bill for myself and my 3 kids, I def expected way better quality, actual warm food and not have to wait a combined time of over an hour for service. It was also my son's birthday, and he found the experience very disappointing and said he never wants to go back. When we booked we said it was a birthday, we mentioned it was his birthday and the server didnt even say happy birthday to him. Oh and it wasn't even that busy when we got there... there was maybe 10 costumers when we arrived. I might try it again due to past visits being great. But another experience like tonight and I'll probably take my prime rib expeditions else where. I doubt my kids will ever go back as the complained how horrible it was the entire drive home. I usually don't give a lot of reviews but it was such a sub-par experience I had to report it.

The duck & waffles was a confit duck leg, vanilla liege waffles, foie gras gravy with a bistro salad that had a yuzu vanilla vinaigrette. Duck was delicious. I mentioned to the server that the waffles had chunks of sugar in them, but she said that they were sugar coated. To be honest, I'm not convinced. there was chunks of white sugar, not a glaze...In the waffle itself. And the batter was very heavy, thick and cake like. Not the best waffles. French toast was great, very filling and delicious. It has a foie gras caramel, maple pecans, maple caramelized apples, whipped cream cheese and back bacon. This can easily be your new favourite. My mimosa was amazing, best mimosa I've honestly ever had. Americano wasn't really anything special, especially for $6.
