As stated... I was there when my daughter said 3-4 inches off. I was the other client and stated Michelle took slightly more off than I wanted but the cut was fine. I didn't mind. My daughter, however, did not express that she liked the cut. The coloring was great. As stated in my review, 3-4 inches is NOT 10-12, I don't care how long you've been cutting hair. If Michelle is telling you she asked for more of because her hair being dead, that is not the truth, Michele misunderstood my daughter when she said the first layer she had was her bangs and that's how long she had been growing her hair out. She DID NOT ask for 10-12 inches off. I seriously don't understand how ANYONE would think a person's hair had 10-12 inches of DEAD HAIR!!! There was no agreed upon amount in terms of a refund. I have the text Michelle sent, stating she would return $25. There was no response from her fiance stating that was OK with them. So I don't know what you were told but I have PROOF, & was present when she told Michelle what she wanted. The pictures speek a thousand words. I've been seeing Wendee for over 10 years. My hair always looks and feels great after she does a color and cut. She uses quality supplies and is extremely knowledgeable. The salon, which is in a great location in Camas, is always welcoming, clean and light, alive with plants and arranged nicely. The supplies are offered at the going rate and only quality products that she's tested are offered. I've also seen her help the other girls/guys numerous times, not just with advice when they need it but she's quick to answer the phone when she's free--or sweep up quickly. She could sit when she's idle but she's attentive and obviously wants customers to have a great experience! I'm always amazed (while I'm getting color done) at how much she does. And the mood has always been light and friendly between the hairdressers and their clients. It's a great place to spend a couple hours. This review is long overdue. I typically wait a year to write a review for a hair salon; however, it has been almost 3 years. Yikes! After having been spoiled by stylists from La Jolla, to Manhattan Beach to Pasadena, CA, after relocating to the PNW, I started my search in Portland. After a few failed attempts in coordinating appointments at top salons in Portland (they rescheduled and then I had to reschedule, then they rescheduled), I asked a colleague where she had just gone (her coloring looked fantastic). She referred me to Nico Bella. I called and immediately got an appointment with Wendee. Located in downtown Camas, I have always been able to find a parking spot within a block. Its a cute little shop that offers other treatments (I have used the manicurist, too). Once having my hair done by Wendee, I have never wandered. It's refreshing to have a stylist give you an honest opinion when experimenting with a new hairdo or look. Plus, I look forward to escaping the hectic work day to her quiet salon and leaving revitalized. As if that wasn't enough, during Covid, she has developed the best salon safety protocols hands down. I have sent multiple family members to visit her salon, feeling assured that she follows so many safety protocols. Plus, family members have left feeling the way I do. Poor experience with Wendee. It is extremely hard for a mom of younger kids to get away for 2 hours for a hair appt and this ended up taking 4 hours! I will not be moving forward with Wendee for my hair. She projected such confidence about being able to achieve the lighter look I was hoping for (nothing complicated, just highlights as in a pic I showed her). I ended up leaving with even darker hair and I'm now much further away from what my hair goal was. She was very aggressive with making an appt to come back for highlights after, which again, very difficult for a working mom, and she seemed like all talk about achieving the color. I suggested a partial refund for the "highlights" because there are none, but she just kept insisting on making an appt. In the light it is just very dark, solid brown. When she saw the hotspots on my roots from her initial color she seemed to panic a bit (and feel annoyed) and quickly put color on it because she had another client coming in. It felt like she was very unsure of the response and just trying to cover it up rather than taking the time to discuss or explain that. Very disappointing considering the quality of social media marketing. Response to Nico Bella response: As the salon owner, I assume it is Wendee or a family member who responds to reviews. Wendee's response to my hair goal prior to starting was "I can totally do it, I'm the best at what I do" and that afterwards, I would "come in for highlight touch-ups once per quarter to maintain". I believed in your confidence. "I'm good" immediately after the service meant "no" to scheduling and relief that my hair was not damaged in this process. With regard to the gray roots--there is 1 small section, this was not necessarily a "root" job considering the small amount of gray in 1 spot. I believe Wendee has done beautiful work on others based on her social media photos. Unfortunately, she made a big claim of what she was going to deliver, and the results were not that. There are no highlights, I have a darker shade of brown than what I started with, notable at the roots. Again, I am relieved this did not result in damage to my hair. After the experience of this, I was trying to be polite and did not feel comfortable returning, even after this ended up costing over $200. After insisting she could do highlights at another appt and our conversation about how things turned out far from the initial consultation, of course I would not return. This was an unfortunate experience for both of us. read more

Had a terrible experience at this salon with stylist and owner Wendee. She displayed extremely rude behavior towards me just as some of the other reviews have stated as well as a poor color/cut service. I went in for blonde highlights (came in with light brown hair) and left with brassy hair and lines in the color near my scalp. The color was nothing like the photo I showed her for reference. I messaged afterwards to express my concerns and she was very snappy with me but allowed me to come in to "fix the problem". When I got there she said there was nothing wrong with the color and yelled for anyone else in the salon to come look. When I expressed again that I just wanted the color fixed she went off at me telling me "to go elsewhere then" asking "are you just a hormonal pregnant woman" "you can't come in here looking like a minivan and expect to be a Porsche". I couldn't believe these comments. With no hope of a refund I sat in tears while she tried to "fix" the problem. I was still not happy with the solution but just nodded my head and left because I was done with being treated poorly and belittled for speaking up over my concerns. Edit: I was not attempting to "scam" you or get a free service. You did a poor job on my color. It was not damaged when I arrived, merely light brown. I went to the other salons to confirm the bad color wasn't just something I was seeing. You went on to yell at me and insult me in front of your customers and staff. It took me a long time to decide if I was going to leave Yelp review. I want to be empathetic to a person's livelihood. I did NOT have a good experience the two times that Wendee did my hair. Wendee is very rough, in the way she washes, brushes, blowdries and uses curling iron. Wendee either has poor wash bowls or has poor system of washing hair, as the amount of towels used due to how wet you will get. Water down your back, water splashed in your face; with no apology or extra towel for you to try to use for cover and dry off. These are small issues compared to why I am am unhappy with outcome for hair service. The first time I went to Wendee, she told me my hair was "outdated, and needed new hair color." I tried something new 20% lowlights and 80% highlights, even though it was NOT what I wanted, but I wanted to be opened minded. I followed up after a week later to tell her what I liked and didn't like. Wendee offered to have me come back for correction, however she did not have ANY times available and was not willing to come in early or stay late; and when I she did have time, it was to far out and going to cost me $$. I can see this a strategy to not loose revenue as she wouldn't need to add extra time and product. The second time I went to Wendee Wendee (which was really to correct the first appointment that cost me money); I literally could measure on my forehead 1/4 inch on one side and 1/2 inch on other side that looked like grow out from highlights when I left my appointment. I was not happy with the level of blonde near my roots as it looked brass/bronze. Wendee shamed me, she asked her neighboring co-worker, "do you see brass or bronze?" 1) it was only near the grow out that had brass/bronze, not all of my hair. AND 2) of course her co-worker is going to say no. 3) Wendee is NOT meticulous! Wendee told me to get the purple shampoo as "it has color in it to make it more blonde." Plus to add, Wendee will brag she has been doing hair for 16+ years and put down other peoples work. Wendee makes some pretty off color and gruff comments. read more

Wendee did a fantastic job! I'm super appreciative of all the safety precautions in place here. We both wore masks, she guided me through where to wash my hands and put on my smock, and she even changed her clothes between clients. I have never been treated so badly in a salon of any kind, Wendee is a HORRIBLE person, a TOTAL bully. Very condescending, does not listen to what the customer says or wants (she did not do what we wanted to our hair). Then gets all super bent out of shape, when even the slightest (kindest as possible) complaint comes. She's just not having it. I've never been treated so rudely. On top of that, she thinks that everyone wants to hear about her kids, and her husband ("with the accent"! she says, LOL!!). Very off putting, uncomfortable environment. I should also mention, that she is very comfortable with yelling to everyone else in the salon, if she thinks you are stupid, to make you feel more stupid. We didn't even have high demands AT ALL. This review is overdue, but Nico Bella is (in my opinion) the most trustworthy salon in the area. My first experience here was stellar. Wendee turned my dark locks into a beautiful shade of ash brown, leading to an endless amount of compliments afterwards. When I was ready to go lighter, she did her magic and took my dark roots to blonde in under two and a half hours (for reference, I have long Asian hair and it's pretty hard to work with). Wendee's expertise shows in her craft, and I couldn't thank her enough for making me feel so confident and beautiful. All within that time, I would share stories and gossip over complimentary coffee with Wendee. I'd even caught her buying a few boxes of cookies in support of the local little league there. She's the sweetest. Nico Bella is made up of a diligent, hardworking team that truly cares about their clients. Their patience and integrity is what keeps me coming back every time. She'll say she'll do something for you and does complete opposite w/out offering to fix it! She left my hair looking like a giraffe, SPOTS everywhere!!!!! When I called her out on them she acted like the spots were so small they were not noticeable, she fixed one spot but gave no mind to the rest!! I was at this place from 10:30 AM until 3PM to receive this poor of a job. Over booked or even booked appointments in between I understand IT HAPPENS but it's NOT okay for your client to leave with a job that is CRAP!!! WORST part is she asked if I at least liked the placement of the color???? Ummm, NO!! I asked for an ombré and received a horrible job of highlights(the dreaded orange look)!!! Nothing like the pictures I showed her not even remotely close!! Save yourself from a horrible experience!! ON TOP of the horrible job, the lady was POKING me with her nails and not apologizing! Be aware and never go to this salon! Or at least do not get your hair dyed by Wendee or even let her touch cut it! First off the only reason I downloaded this app is to place this review as I don't ever do so but felt this so necessary. The experience I had with the owner who did my hair was one of the worst Ever. I showed her photos of what I wanted and she assured me she could do so only thing she said is the color may be a tad darker than I wanted. It wasn't a tad darker it wasn't even the color she missed huge spots of my hair and the next day the color was completely different. This was due to her using a glaze on my hair instead of actual dye. I did not trust her to redo my hair at all after getting another consult from a different salon. While I was getting my hair fixed I text and told her also sent her photos of what my hair looked like. Back of hair still natural color, grey showing through and yellowish color the next day. She was automatically defensive and rude. Using exclamation marks as though she was yelling at me. Telling me No Refund you come in Monday!! Continuing to express my concern she became extremely rude and disrespectful. While I was simply trying to come to a resolution spoke to her kindly and with respect. Even expressing I know that it's hard to take criticism on a job you believe was well done. I asked for an exchange of service instead of her doing my hair again I got a response to come in on Monday so naturally I thought there would be another service provided even though she wouldn't tell me what she had to offer. Unfortunately the day before my appointment I had a horrid seizure was in the hospital and even had someone contact her to let her know had to show discharge paperwork so that she believed it. She did send me well wishes hoping I'd be better soon. I felt a tad better and more with it so decided to contact her to reschedule. Again she continued to tell me she would not refund my money I expressed I didn't want to be refunded again maybe we could come to a resolution with an exchange of another service. She continued to be rude disrespectful and just mean. I spoke to her with nothing but respect and was nice and even apologized when I shouldn't of had too so to make her feel better and hopefully her not be so upset. Unfortunately though it has come to this I'd hate for someone to have the same experience I had and be treated the way I have been. If I could upload our conversation I would you wouldn't believe the way she speaks to people especially being the owner of the business she should do all to keep her clients walk ins whatever happy and satisfied as stated on her website. I love this hair salon. It has been such a long time since I walked into a salon and felt so comfortable and welcomed. They are great at communication. I always receive a promot response when I contact them. My experience was so good that I brought both of my daughters for hair cut and style. My daughters have sensitive heads and the sylists were so accommodating. Not only that - one of my daughters is black and the stylist did an amazing job on her hair! Her coils are gorgeous and healthy and the style has allowed her hair to stay that way. Not only are these stylists extremely personal and professional and talented - I have also been so impressed by their contribution to the community. One day I was there - the mail carrier came in and the stylists had lunch made for him. They have been a staple in the community for quite some time. I highly recommend this salon. read more

I recently went to Wendee for my third cut and this time had color done. I LOVE IT. I have referred five people to Wendee and all five could not thank me enough for referring them to Wendee. Wendee doesn't just cut hair she is a stylist. After leaving Chicago and losing my amazing stylist the first time Wendee styled my hair I immediately knew I was with a real professional. My recent color and cut has been received by my husband and friends with great approval and I am absolutely elated with the color. It isn't something I would have thought of. One thing about going to a professional for me is trusting their eye and their knowledge and I can't believe how lucky we are with few exceptions having read some very toxic reviews from people that contradict all I know about Nico Bella salon and Wendee who is one of the most amazing stylists, generous and caring spirit. The products that Wendee has recommended have renewed the proteins in my hair and reversed so much damage that I had prior to going to her. I rarely have my long, blonde and curly hair done professionally due to 3 very poor experiences. However, I was in need of a sprucing up and after a pregnancy, nursing and then a full blown relocation of our family of 6. My hair had gotten frail and thin. I called three days before Thanksgiving and they were very friendly and able to get me in the very next day. I had the newest gal to the Nico team named Christa and she was FABULOUS. She had easy conversation, clearly got along with other stylist and with 16 years of experience behind her shears, I left with a gorgeous cut that was exactly what I was looking for. She styled it and spoiled me with a beautiful blow out and light curl (a way I have never seen my hair in) and is surely a way I will continue to style it. I truly believe it takes some adversity before someone's true colors or integrity shows. When a person (or business) is faced with an issue, the way they handle it can tell a lot about them. I had an awful experience here. After seeing some great work on social media, my daughter referred me to Gina for a color and cut. Unfortunately, this was a TERRIBLE idea/experience. I'm not picky about my hair and told Gina I liked my natural auburn hair color, so Gina said I probably needed more of a purple-red. Since I had read on their website that there was a 7 DAY GUARANTEE, I trusted her suggestion. My hair ended up very dark, but I thought I would get used to it after a couple days. After a few days of not adjusting, I decided to text Gina to see if she could add a couple of highlights put in to lighten it up a little bit. After about a week Gina finally responded and said she would be happy to put a few highlights in and it would be no problem. We made an appointment a few weeks out. I went to my appointment to find out that Gina had an unexpected family emergency and called all of her clients to let them know she wouldn't be in. I never received a phone call, text message, nothing. After another week of not hearing anything, I finally sent another message to Gina asking to reschedule an appointment. This is when everything turned. Gina had a completely unprofessional response, taking back everything she said about adding in more color and added "I don't give refunds to clients who tell me to do whatever I want"..."I'm sorry everyone's perspective of beauty is different"..."You didn't like how it looked for you and I can't help that"..."I don't think I'm the stylist for you". And then she BLOCKED my phone number. After this text and being blocked by Gina, I called the salon to talk to the owner, thinking they would have some sense of good customer service and try to make it right. I talked to Wendee (they claim they're all owners but Wendee is the actual owner apparently) and Wendee was extremely rude. She said she was with a client so I asked if there was someone else I could talk to. Wendee said everyone else had gone home and she was the only one there and she had a client in her chair. Then said "if you don't believe me you can talk to my client, she's right here". I was confused because I just asked if there was someone else I could talk to (thinking there would be since they're open until 4 pm and it was about 2 pm). Then Wendee said she had bleach on her hands and in her clients hair and needed to go. If you look at the salons reply to another yelp complaint they claim they do not use bleach, and only use the best products. If Gina felt this way the whole time, she shouldn't have agreed to fix it, shouldn't have made an appointment, and shouldn't have waited OVER A MONTH to say this. The next day we got a call from the Camas Police saying that Gina called to report my daughter and I for "bugging her" on her personal cell phone. My daughter, for one, has never contacted Gina in her life, she doesn't even have her phone number. The only way Gina would bring up my daughter and give the officer her full name is because she posted a review on social media. Like I said earlier, Gina blocked my phone number right after she sent the message about her not fixing my hair. The phone number I WAS texting during this was the one on her BUSINESS CARD! When I would call the salon asking for Gina they would give me this number on her business card and say "you'll have to take it up with her". I'm not sure when lying to law enforcement to try and intimidate customers became okay, but apparently it is in her book. Like I said in the beginning, it takes some adversity to show someone's true colors, and Gina has done just that. Not caring about customer satisfaction, lying because a truthful review was posted, not keeping the promise of a 7 day guarantee, having to cancel appointments on a certain day and calling ALL OF YOUR CLIENTS (except me!), making me show up to my appointment to find out you weren't there, and waiting over a week to say anything. read more

Wendee is incredible and very talented. She is simply a great stylist/artist with years of experience in Portland. We are lucky to have her on this side of the river. I get compliments on my cut and color all of the time. Plus, she's fun - time in the chair zooms by. During Covid, she has taken extreme precautions to ensure her clients safety. My elderly mom lives with us, and I'm very particular about any place I go outside of home. Thank you Wendee! read more

I don't often write reviews whether I have a positive or negative experience HOWEVER I do post a review when my whole experience from start to finish is amazing! I moved to the PNW from California and have two little babies at home so have not been able to have my hair done in far too long... basically I went to my appointment a hot mess with a picture of what I wanted and a prayer and Jessica my stylist absolutely went above and beyond! It was a total transformation! I showed her the picture and tried my best to explain my expectations and what I typically look like when I get my hair done regularly and she asked questions to make sure we were on the same page and explained all the steps, giving suggestions and then went to work and I left looking even better then what I imagined! Best experience I've had at a salon ever. Ann did my nails and it was so peaceful and relaxing. She's so easy to talk to and took her time to make sure my nails were perfect. I've never felt so at ease getting my nails done. They turned out perfect and I love them. She asked me if I wanted anything else done and I told her my eyebrows are crazy. She agreed that they were uneven (I appreciated her honesty!) and she told me she'll fix it. She made the pretty much perfect. The whole vibe in the salon is just so chill and relaxed. I'm super excited because I've never had a regular salon, but I think I may have finally found one. read more

This place is so adorable. It's a bit of a drive as I'm a half hour away, but it's worth the drive. I called and asked for someone that could dye my hair and one of the girls gave me Amy's number. When I texted her she was super sweet and responded back quickly. We had to reschedule due to snow problems but besides that the scheduling process was super easy. I have incredibly long has as well as Amy, so she knew how to handle it which was nice. I went from blonde(I had way more grow out than in that photo) to dark brown. The second photo has a light on me so it is way darker in person. I was incredibly nervous through the whole process but she(and the rest of the girls) were super sweet and comforting. I love my hair and will be going back to Amy for the rest of my hair needs. Absolutely an amazing place to go to get your hair done! read more
