My wife has been going there for about a year and had a terrible experience a week ago and was too distraught to post the review so I asked her to calmly explain what happened. She arrived and was instructed to sign in. She filled out her name and started to answer other questions such as email and birthdate. It was not an IPad and the keyboard was different than she was used to. She got frustrated trying to backspace and correct spelling. Knowing that she had used the salon just three weeks prior she didn't feel they needed all that info to be repeated so she gave up and sat down. A man she had never seen before approached her with the tablet and pointed out nicely that the info was not completed. She stated that the salon had the info from her appointment three weeks ago and she didn't need to repeat all the information again. He stated that she did indeed need to fill it all out. She stated that it wasn't necessary as it was in their system. He said she HAD to fill it out. She was frustrated with his attitude and stated that she could just use another salon. He became angry and told her to "please leave". She was taken aback and stated that she had an appointment. He restated that she was to "please leave. Just leave please! Go! Leave please." Her hair stylist started to approach her so she told her she was being kicked out. She asked why and my wife told her she didn't fill out the information. At this point the the man is continuing to point and repeat in a raised voice. "Please leave! Please leave." The number of times he stated "leave please" was shocking. She turned to go and stated that he was rude and she left the salon. This all happened in front of the hair stylists and all the clients. She was stunned and couldn't believe she had just been kicked out of the hair salon by a man she'd never seen before. She was also shocked that her hair stylist did not contact her to reschedule (though she would not have done that anyway) or to check on her after being yelled at and disrespected. I had almost given up on finding a good stylist in Vancouver after a lot of bad experiences but then I met Cydney at Salon Grace. She is listed as a Level I Stylist on the website but I had a good feeling about her. She immediately understood what I was trying to accomplish with my hair. I have curly/wavy hair and I like to wear it curly or blown out sometimes and it has been hard to find someone here who could create the style I wanted. I've even gone as far as to get my haircut on long layovers with my previous stylist in AZ! Cydney totally exceeded my expectations. She had the most gentle energy about her and knew what I was trying to say immediately. I finally feel like myself again! I am so grateful that I finally found someone who "gets it". The only reason I didn't give 5 starts is because some of the other stylists were talking some smack about other customers which always makes me wonder what they could be saying about me when I am not there but Cydney didn't participate in it and that earned her even more respect in my eyes. TLDR: zero product education during facial, tried to add on $55.00 worth of add on charges without having even mentioning adding those services on without consent. I went into Salon Grace after making an appointment yesterday. I needed to get in quick, so i was happy to see they had plenty of openings. My experience started off ok, for the most part. I met the person who I had booked all of my services with, Aralynn. She was friendly, but was quick to explain that I would need to fill out a Covid waiver along with ALL of my personal information on their Ipad. Not a big deal- kind of weird in 2025 though. After that I was given a short tour and directed to wash my hands, ok. No big deal either. I was happy to oblige and looking forward to my services- I was planning on spending A LOT of money and they knew it. We started off with the facial, eyebrow tint, and eyebrow wax. I explained that while I was choosing an option on the website, I didn't know what the differences were between all of the different facials. She responded with... "Oh, this one will hydrate and moisturize and help you skin look better." Ummm? Obviously...? She never elaborated beyond that... I was expecting FAR more education on the Aveda products they were using, the benefits, etc. I have had facials from other places and all of them went over the process as they used each product and let me know what they were using. Aralynn was very quick, and seemed in a hurry to just get through it and get it over with. Meanwhile- i'm paying 150.00 for this mediocre facial- with zero idea of what is being used on my skin. Moving on... lets talk about the hair. Oh boy... I am not complaining about the style or color AT ALL. What I am NOT happy about is that she tried to make me pay more than what the website quoted. $395.00 was quoted on their website for ALL of the services I selected. While I was in the chair, she quoted me $455. I thought to myself- This math isn't mathing. When I asked about it before I paid and showed her what I had ordered and made appointments for- there was no ability for her to deny the price discrepancy and she admitted to adding on a $40.00 service that I did not ask for or even ask about. She had "forgotten to tell me about it". Not only was that added without my knowledge, but I was also charged 15.00 extra for developer/product used in my hair since they needed an extra bowl of it. (Also something they had mentioned nothing about.) Services ordered and received- Master Moisture Facial- $150 Eyebrow tint- $20 Eyebrow wax- $20 Highlight (no root base)- $145 Cut after color $60 I have gone to Aveda salons in the past. I felt like I knew what to expect as far as quality, and this was NOT it. i've been to two others in Vancouver- but it has been several years. I would have expected a hair cut with highlight to take 5 hours at the school. But not with someone who told me they had 3.5 yrs of experience working there. (My hair needed correction after the highlights bled or something.. she didn't explain that either.) They were all ecstatic over how good it looked before admitting it needed to be toned down as well- taking ANOTHER 1.5 hrs. The whole time? I was offered 1 bottle of water. Lol. Spending over $400 bucks and the best you can do is a 1 bottle of water? Luckily I left paying only $20.00 more than I agreed on.. Total charged $415.00 with a $70.00 tip. I consider that generous since I was lied to, but I was prepared to tip over $100. I didn't feel like arguing after being there 2.5 hrs longer than planned. I expected SO much more. Never again. Save your money and go somewhere that isn't shady and deceitful. (It wasnt a mistake.. she knew what she did.) So disappointing. I hope this will help someone to not experience what I did. read more

I was initially excited to visit Salon Grace after looking at their website and photos of their work. Unfortunately, first impressions left a bad taste in my mouth. While I'm sure the staff do great work, I can't support a business with such unethical practices. Before receiving any greeting, I was handed a liability waiver that required me to sign away all my rights and release them from any responsibility even as licensed professionals. It noted specifically that they can't be held responsible for "negligence or carelessness" for any form of injury or accident that could happen from defective tools, exposure to chemicals, and more. It's like your mechanic disclaiming any responsibility if your brakes fail or your doctor saying your annual physical is at your own risk. They disguised this document as a "COVID-19 self-screen," (it's 2024...) but was only a paragraph about health with all the rest allowing them to use photos, videos, and recordings of me for "any legitimate purpose". I'm not sure what the deal is here, but it smells. They asked for a bunch of personal information just to get a haircut, which felt invasive and unnecessary. This all came off as a bit shady and made me feel uncomfortable. read more

I would not recommend this salon if you have curly or thick hair. This salon is more about styling thin hair to appear textured. That doesn't work well for my 3A curls. They don't know how to properly thin out thick hair or how to cut the curls so they come out evenly. Shampooing: not relaxing at all, she had my head at a weird angle and didn't get all of my hair wet and washed evenly. It was a very quick and shallow scrub. During the hair cut, the person I saw kept chopping off pieces of hair on the top of my head at random even though I explicitly asked her to keep it longer on top. I came away with odd bits of spiky hair on one side and oddly long locks on the other. I had to go home and restyle my hair to find a style that made them look okay. Now all I can do is wait for the hair to grow back read more

I've waited such a long time to leave this review as I have never left a negative review for any business ever before. I visited this salon in October of last year and 5 months later I am still trying to fix the damage. I made an appointment for a few low lights and came out my entire head of hair dyed with PERMANENT red-brown color (I've had blonde hair my whole life). I processed for almost 2 hours which also severely damaged my hair. The lesson I learned was that it's incredibly important to tell your hair dresser to STOP and do not trust them. In my head I thought there was no way she would dye my whole head because that was NEVER something discussed and I did not want that. I had thought when she started brushing on the color that it had to be some other treatment, again an all over dye was never discussed. At the end of the appointment she asked if I liked it and I expressed this was not what I had asked for (to my knowledge small low light pieces are not the same as an all-over dye) and nowhere near a natural light brown color which I had asked for. To which she said the dye would fade. (Also not true because she used PERMANENT dye). I paid and left in tears ultimately blaming myself for a miscommunication. But how?! This was in no way my fault. I called the salon the next day and told my story of what happened and no one could get me in to fix for a couple of days. But I am getting married, so a couple of days could not be soon enough. The owner did call me to ask what had happened but I was even more disappointed in that phone call than I could've expected. He reassured me he has been doing hair for many years and only had professionals working in his salon. Did not offer any apologies, didn't offer a refund, but said I could make an appointment to come back and fix. Ultimately I was too nervous to go back to the salon. But 5 months later my hair is completely fried. And what should've been my beautiful blonde hair for my wedding is a damaged red brown. I would NEVER recommend this salon EVER. read more

It was my first time bleaching my hair and getting highlights and the process was honestly not as long as I expected, and I have long dark thick hair.
