This would be 5 star, but after my last experience, it's a 3, only because of my first experience. Great job the first time. My second appointment was cancelled due to the pandemic (totally understandable) When salons opened again and I knew I could take a day off I made another (soonest available) appointment. On July 9th. The day of my appointment (July 31st) while I was on my way from downtown to come in I get a cancellation text. I call to confirm she was cancelling. She answered said there was an emergency. I understand things come up. She didn't ask to reschedule. Never called me back or returned my 2 calls. Completely disregarded me so I had to be on someone else's wait list for another month . The lack of care, my waste of time, consideration, and professionalism is just non-negociable. It was hard enough to get a day off and make my way from downtown to Lincoln square and she was recommended to me. Shame. Just disappointed. read more

After my hair stylist's salon went out of business due to COVID, I was recommended by a friend to visit Nicole & Mari. I saw Mari for a haircut and she did a great job. I felt very safe (in terms of social distancing) the entire time. The prices are reasonable and they are very responsive in terms of booking appointments (Nicole is SO nice whenever I have called!). Where do I even begin with this review since it's about one of my favorite people ever!...Nicole has been doing my hair for years now and there is LITERALLY no one on the planet I'd trust more than her! She's patient, knowledgeable and willing to put in the time and effort to figure out how to do anything outside of her normal skill set (which is massive!) She's taken me from pink, purple, and blue back to paper white(!) always humoring questions and trying to get me as close to my desire for hair epicness as possible (she hasn't disappointed me yet) while still explaining and maintaining a balance of what's possible and not with my hair type (too bad we can't all walk around with IG filters on us at all times) After all of the frequent color changes and cuts, I can still say my hair super soft and healthy (a true sign that someone knows their stuff!) and apparently looks awesome as I get stopped daily and complimented on how awesome my hair is! Visited Nicole for the first time this weekend for a cut and color, following a recommendation from a friend. She restored my hair from a brassy blonde-gone-wrong to the exact shade I was seeking when I originally got it dyed (at a different salon), and gave me a cut that flatters the natural wave of my hair... and a celeb-worthy blowout, to boot! Not only is she great at what she does, but she was also such a treat to talk to. Unlike other stylists I've had in the past, I experienced no awkward small talk with Nicole. She chats you up like an old friend and is absolutely a hoot! Nicole is AMAZING! I travel an hour just to see her because she understands my hair texture and color every single time. She's corrected awful hair colors (from other stylists) and beautifully transitions my color when I want to go from blonde to brunette or the other way around. My hair is super thick and not everyone can handle all of it, but she knows how to cut it with perfect layers and doesn't leave it heavy.
