I had LASIK done on Tuesday this week with Dr. Violin and Elaine. Both of which were fantastic. Here are my thoughts: 1) LASIK is somewhat competitive with companies so if the first thing you think about is cost, you can negotiate a good price - always negotiate because there is a good deal out there somewhere. I went for the free consult on Thursday 8/9/2012 and they scheduled my procedure for the following Tuesday - which is beyond awesome. 2) Elaine (nurse) - was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She will return calls very promptly. She laid out all the good and the potential bad so that you have nothing to imagine after the procedure. Elaine will certainly make things much more comfortable. 3) The procedure - FAST. So you get this done in Quincy. Parking is terrible so get there a few minutes early. They will give you "something nice" to help you relax. The total time of laying on the procedure bed to the time you stand up and leave is seriously 5 minutes. The laser process is about 2-3 minutes total time for both eyes. They will talk to you throughout the procedure. Awesome. A lot of pressure but you can expect that. 4) Post-op - within a half hour after the procedure, the drugs wear off and it becomes extremely uncomfortable. All you want to do is close your eyes and rip something close to you in half. Hopefully you won't get stuck in traffic as I did. Take your happy pill and some NyQuil and sleep it off for a few hours. You will wake up and start to see nice. The next day I was seeing 20/15. Light sensitivity is very annoying but I can put up with it for that it's great to not need corrective lenses. The light sensitivity will make lights halo or glow a lot and certainly make things a little fuzzy. Just wear a hat for a few days. 5) Final words - I am on day 2 post-op. I am still sensitive to light but I see great. Better than great. My left eye is more sensitive than the right but I guess that is normal. I was 7 the last time I didn't need glasses - I never wore contacts. So I have no idea what it was like. It's like brand new to me. I am hoping that in another few days, it will all go away. On last thing - the protective goggles they provide you to wear at night for a week will leave deep imprints on your face if you sleep on the side of your face. Practice sleeping on your back. My eyes have had normal vision care, double vision, cataract surgery, and now wet AMD. Each concern is treated with the proper attention and in a timely manner. The Norwood office is great! Have been here numerous times with elderly parents. Always have to wait about half an hour later than appointment time before we're seen. Various docs have been seen. No one impressive, all very rushed. Forget trying to reach the office by phone. After waiting a few minutes, someone always picks up then hangs up. Just happened to me 3 times in a row. Then I reached someone and they put me "on hold," which hung up my call again. Don't bother. read more

I had cataract surgery on 5/29/24 I thought it went well however my eye pressure went WAY up. Dr. Kahana did not seem to be upset but gave me eye drops. It didn't get better as a matter of fact it got worse I was seen by Dr. Moriera who was attentive explained what was happening in other words quality care. I had to return 6 times to insure my eye pressure kept going down & the drops were working. My final visit was with Dr. Khana who as gain rushed in took 3.5 minutes to review the information the tech entered into the computer looked at my eye with the machine pulled it away from me without warning me she was going to. I asked her what I could do about the watering of my eye which I did not have before the surgery - her response was that's normal ask the front desk for drops. Great Experience! Great Care! Very Professional! It was done in a timely manner, everyone was very courteous and helpful from the time I went in to check in to the exam room and beyond. It was a good experience. I went back a few days later to check and try on glasses, there also was a very remarkable experience. The young lady I met there greeted and treated me with respect, care and patience. I was undecided, and using more time than required and she didn't seem being bothered by it.; instead she kept offering me options until a decision was reached. BEWARE Dr Moreia will charge you extra outside of insurance. Even when you ask before you schedule! I was told i Had to pay $50 for a prescription when my insurance covers it 100 percent. Also took an hour to be seen for 15 min by Dr. used to be reputable with Dr Violin. Now your a number and bait and switch. Find another practice! read more

If you don't mind feeling like you're a factory product, than this office may serve your purpose. They were on time for my appointment and I was in and out quickly - but there was little to no interaction. Felt the same way last year when I ended up there after another large practice in town messed up not one but two prescriptions causing an infection to get worse. None of the people were unfriendly, but you just got the impression you were just a number. I'm not an eye doctor so I don't know what questions to ask or things to watch so I like some dialog. I also feel like I'm paying to see the doctor - not for under 5 minutes and 20 with the technician. I was told they had a great new machine vs dialating eyes - but it was an additional $45. None of this bothered my husband but it left me feeling like I had just been processed. I'll be looking for a doctor with more bedside manner. read more

Love this little shop. I have been coming here for the past 8 or more years and purchasing new eyewear every year as part of my insurance plan. I like to stay on trend with glasses and they always have something I'm looking for and if not - they order it for me. I got Lasik with them and it was a very smooth process. The positives are that Elaine (the nurse that we worked with) is excellent. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. She is very meticulous and even had me come back again for another measurement when the measurement changed 1/10 of a millimeter over a week. They are very experienced and have a very smooth process. Dr. Violin is very experienced and Very good. However, he has zero personality or bedside manner. If you need a doctor who is going to comfort you and make you feel good, this is not the place for you. For me, I would rather have a doctor who is great at what they do than have a great bedside manner. That said, an "Everything went great, you are going to be fine" would have been nice. I will say that they offer Groupons and Living social deals for this. At first, I was very skeptical. But I did my research on the Doctor and the facility BEFORE I bought the groupon and realized that the level of care was very good. Eyesight is now 20/20 and I could not have asked for a smoother process. read more

The 1 star I am giving is for the doctor who was very nice and did the exam nicely. However, I had a really hard time regarding explaining them my coverages. I basically have 2 insurance plans covering my eye. 1 is better, other covers only the basic exam. These people could figure out only the one which is basic. Even when I requested them to recheck, their 1 line reply was "That would take a week for us to look into your insurance again". So being so rude is not so welcome for me. I again, called the insurance guys to confirm my benefits and as expected, they did mention that they do cover everything, but once they called the Medical Eye Care Associates, the receptionist told them, now they see only their plan and not the basic one. I wonder, how they do even check the insurance for people in this business, when they cant even figure out about the insurances. I am not going there again. read more

I bought new glasses through my VSP plan (4 days ago), found they did not complement me (my opinion and friends opinion as well), and was told I cannot exchange them. I was a patient of Dr. Kozac, who I really loved. Once she left, I saw another doctor who I was not at all impressed with. I now go to another practice and wanted my medical records sent there, but they would not do so without charging for them. It's legally allowed to charge for records, but almost never done for a practice to charge to send records to another practice. To me, that says they care more about money than providing their patients with continuity of care. read more

Wanted to write a review as I just came back from an eye exam at Visionworks, now '17 and my distance vision is still 20/20 after having Dr. Violin do the lasik surgery in '03. Over a decade later still seeing perfect with no side effects (though now I need reading glasses but that's normal). Before the surgery I couldn't read the clock beside the bed. Wanted people to know if you're considering lasik he's excellent. Must say I do agree with a lot of the comments on other sites about his abrasive beside manner, and at the time his staff was the same. You just have to overlook the arrogance as a lot of surgeons can be this way. Remember they are seeing a lot of patients and are very busy. I did have to go back a 2nd time to get one eye re-done as it wasn't corrected enough and kind of had to fight with him on it, but it's been amazing ever since. It's so liberating to have had the procedure- you will feel so happy afterwards. I paid quite a bit at the time but it's so worth it for your quality of life- no contacts or glasses. Amazing. Plus, he was local for me with his practice in Norwood and performing the procedure in Quincy. He came through for me and that's what matters. I can read things far away in a room and people say, "you can read that?" Yes, yes I can! Give it a go, this doctor does know his craft read more
