I came here with a deep fear of dental work due to a traumatic extraction years ago. My primary dentist, who knows how serious my phobia is, referred me straight to Dr. McElveen and his team -- and I'm so glad they did. From start to finish, this place has been nothing short of elite-level care. My consultation was smooth, thoughtful, and respectful. Dr. McElveen walked me through the best sedation option for my needs, and every step afterward was handled with professionalism and kindness. Special shoutouts: * Nurse Nicole made me feel cared for from beginning to end. * Trinity at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and kept everything moving smoothly. * And every other young lady who helped behind the scenes -- I noticed your professionalism and calm presence. Thank you. The day of my procedure? Flawless. I arrived on time, was taken back quickly, and before I knew it -- it was over. My husband was able to pull up to the side entrance (which looked like it used to be a drive-thru bank) and they wheeled me out straight to the car. Talk about first-class service. That kind of care doesn't usually happen at a dentist's office, but here it felt like I was being treated like family... or a VIP. While my husband waited, there was coffee and water available in the lobby -- a small touch that makes a big difference. He even commented on how comfortable the space was. Now for two helpful suggestions -- not complaints, just tips to improve an already excellent experience: 1. Blankets: The office was chilly (as most medical centers are), but there were no blankets available that morning. I was in short sleeves and could've used one while waiting. I understand they were being laundered, but I recommend keeping a few ready earlier in the day, especially for anxious patients like me. 2. Acrylic Nails Tip: If you're getting sedation, ladies -- consider clipping your pointer finger acrylic nail or leaving one off. The oxygen monitor has to clamp on that finger, and I didn't realize that until afterward. It'll save discomfort and make things easier for the team. Even with that, they were so attentive. My blood pressure was elevated due to nerves, and they monitored it carefully. Dr. McElveen made sure I was fully stabilized before even starting. That level of care shows integrity. And the follow-up? Exceptional. * I got a text the same evening. * I received TWO phone calls the next morning to check on me. That kind of check-in is rare -- and incredibly appreciated. Every time I had to reschedule was due to circumstances beyond my control--a serious motor vehicle accident that ultimately required spine surgery, a dental infection for which my dentist prescribed antibiotics before treatment, and an unexpected death in my family requiring out-of-town travel. Despite giving approximately 48 hours' notice for one appointment, I was still charged a $50 rescheduling fee even though I understood the office required only 24 hours' notice. I paid the fee because I wanted to continue my care. What ultimately led me to not have my endodontics work done there was the lack of professionalism and compassion shown by one staff member. Rather than listening to my concerns or responding with empathy during difficult life events, I was met with rudeness, dismissed when I questioned whether treatment should proceed while I had an active infection, and, after explaining that I had experienced a death in my family, was told the office would no longer schedule appointments for me and that I should find another endodontist. I understand that scheduling policies are necessary, but patients dealing with genuine medical issues and family emergencies deserve courtesy, professionalism, and respect. My review is about the horrible customer service experience at their Clinton, Maryland location, which left a very negative first impression of this practice.

I received a call thr next business day to schedule and was given the option of evaluation and treatment on the same day. Well hubby completed his appointment and has not stopped raving about the customer service and skill of Dr Ego-Osuala. Hubby was nervous because he was in pain but Dr Ego- Osuala took that pain away did the root canal and sent him home with a script for Motrin. He is now pain free and is very thankful.

Why after 4 years being seen at patuxent dental did they never see this decay? When I called and complained they set me up with an appointment, and then the day prior to the appointment they called and said they needed to end our patient client relationship. So if you complain about their bad dentistry practices , rather than fixing the issues they will simply drop you as a patient. It is very easy to see why two highly skilled dentist left this practice, and believe me I should have never gone there, all they care about is big money procedures like crowns, implants, etc while they let the rest of your teeth rot. At my follow-up appointment, I was unexpectedly told I owed an additional $1,300 for work completed during the extraction that was later denied by my insurance. My concern is that these procedures were performed without clearly informing me that they might not be covered or that I could be responsible for additional costs. When I contacted my insurance company, they advised that the office could submit additional documentation for review, but I did not feel the office was willing to pursue that option. Patients deserve clear communication about treatment, insurance coverage, and potential out-of-pocket expenses before procedures are performed.
