Only then was I told that there was a $145.00 "one time single use instrument" office charge that isn't submitted to the insurance company and is "an office charge for instruments used during the procedure". Sounds like something that should be included in the cost of a procedure since these instruments are needed to perform the procedure. As if dealing with insurance companies isn't bad enough, I shouldn't have to worry about my doctor charging extras to get more money out of me.

Today I was treated by Dr.Daniel Barakh. He completed a very difficult route canal procedure and did it with complete calm and ease. His assistant held my hand and helped keep me calm. At my follow-up appointment, I was unexpectedly told I owed an additional $1,300 for work completed during the extraction that was later denied by my insurance. My concern is that these procedures were performed without clearly informing me that they might not be covered or that I could be responsible for additional costs. When I contacted my insurance company, they advised that the office could submit additional documentation for review, but I did not feel the office was willing to pursue that option. There seems to be a very high staff turnover rate, which impacts the quality of service. Records are often disorganized--x-rays get lost, charts can't be located, and billing issues are a recurring problem. My most recent visit was especially disappointing. The cleaning felt rushed and incomplete, and it didn't feel like my teeth were properly cared for. As a result, this will be my last visit. I'll be scheduling with another provider to have my teeth cleaned properly.

However everyone was very nice the whole time. I was hesitant to keep going back due to the long dentist appt but figured I'd give them another chance and it was maybe just a day they were behind.
