He's incorporated into activities, spoken to, as though he's a human, rather than an object. His body is no longer purple from the waist up from the untrained, unskilled mishandling him. He's not dropped on the floor, not transferred inappropriately and not in bondage on the floor in all day long. He is beginning to walk again at 102 years old, his mental state is far better, as are his cognitive abilities. Woodmark administration is lousy, non-caring, non-responsive, non-accountable. I unfortunately left my father there for one year, believing he's self injured as I was told until he himself told me that he will not move or ask for anything because they hurt him, and he is scared for his life. I quickly removed him before they killed him, they demanded the next months rent anyway. I called APS and they failed to comply to their recommendations. Woodmark feels to distribute medication's timely and left my dad without morphine after being prescribed for injuries, they caused. Heartless! They do not chart properly, and his injuries do not match up with those that Hospice came in treated. I trusted them, and all they did was lie to me. I am so glad that I remove my father and put him somewhere where he now enjoys life. When I attempted to contact their corporate heads, which are national, they do not respond. It is their culture. This is their culture. It's a horrible money making machine off the backs of the helpless.

As I live states away, seeing what a nice community she is living in really gives me a feeling of peace to know that she has so many kind people who are truly looking out for her.

She had lots of friends, enjoyed activities and going on outings and had a delightful apt. with a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains. In her last days, the nursing staff was attentive, kind, loving and treated her with dignity. They took geniune care of mom and we saw that first hand as my sister and I were there for over a month with mom and watching. I have told my husband if I ever need assisted care, I want to go to Amaran in Albuquerque. I truly felt I was part of the family and loved everything there...including the beautiful facility!

Under their brand of Decades Group they seriously overbilled my mom. Their promotional literature…read morelisted packages which suggested to me their billings were in the $200-$600 per month range, and that's why I approved signing my mom up with them. Instead, their billings ranged from $1800 - $4800 every two weeks - just for medical power of attorney work!. I would estimate their billings for a little over two years, mostly just for faxing medical records, at about $100,000-$150,000. My mom's trustee couldn't risk a lawsuit so these bills got paid. And since the paperwork nominated Decades for conservator it was pretty much impossible to fire them. So the nightmare continued until my mom moved into an assisted living facility - a move Decades opposed. My advice would be to not hire these guys. But if you do, put in writing how much they are authorized to bill and include a remedy if they exceed that amount. A criminal background check for staff and supervisors is probably a good idea too.

My elderly father has been living alone for the past eight years since my mother passed away. All…read moreof us, his three adult children live out of town. The assistance provided by all the staff at the Care Management Group has allowed him to remain in Albuquerque, in his home, as he wishes. The assistance supplied by the Care Management staff has ranged from initially assessing his needs, making home safety recommendations, regular check up visits, referrals to doctors & home healthcare aide providers. As he has aged, their assistance has increased to making and taking him to doctor appointments, helping with bill paying, coordinating the aide schedule and making sure that nothing falls through the cracks. In addition & most importantly they have met him at the the hospital the several times he was taken there due to health emergencies. They contacted us, coordinated with the doctors and stayed at his side until one of us ( the children) could to Albuquerque. Then upon his release they coordinated his return home & whatever services he needed. The entire staff goes beyond what is expected and their rates for their services are very fair and the same as the other similar agencies I interviewed. Without their help, our father would not have been able to age in place as he desired.

There were no balconies or outdoor space in the apartments I was shown, and I don't know about outdoor common areas.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW A LOVED ON TO BE SENT HERE. My mother went for 10 days of…read morerespite, 5 days paid by hospice and 5 days self pay. It was chaos when we went there. Open boxes of supplies were sitting all over - in the lobby, the hallway, at the nurses station. We had a 2:00 appointment, but we waited 2 hours to talk to a nurse. Meanwhile one patient's "device" became dislodged, and he was shouting from the other end of the corridor that he was in pain. In the smoking area outside someone fell out of their wheelchair and other patients were going up and down the hall shouting to have someone come and pick her up. There was no non-smoking outside area for my sun loving mother to go to. Hospice provided her medications for the entire stay at the beginning of the program. The hospice nurse went over the medications and when to administer them. I filled out paperwork with the admissions office and the business office making it clear that she would be staying 10 days, and what level of care she needed. While I was there, I noticed their monthly charges on the wall, which were $3000 more per month than friends pay for good quality care in other facilities. On the 4th day, I got a call that my mother had fallen in the bathroom and had a bump on her head and a small cut on her elbow. I was later told that the facility staff picked her up, removed the jacket she had been wearing so it could be laundered, and put her to bed without cleaning the cut. Hospice personnel dressed the wound and replaced the bloody sheets on the bed. The jacket then disappeared for 4 days. On the 6th day, I got a call asking if she was staying there or going home, when she was going home and where she was going. I don't know what happened to the paperwork I had filled out. At some point her medications, which were all in order and paid for, disappeared. They ordered new medications from their own pharmacy and sent us a bill for them. And they did not get the prescriptions right. They did not give her the prescribed diuretic and when she had trouble breathing they dosed her with morphine and put her to bed. She spent a great deal of her time there drugged and in bed, when she had been quite active before. When it was time for her to come home they could not find her wheelchair, which had been clearly marked with her name, or the oxygen concentrator the equipment provider had delivered. They put her in a wheelchair that they told the transportation person he had to bring back. I told him and them that we would get their wheelchair back to them when they returned ours. She was almost comatose the first two days she was home and fortunately does not remember much of the experience. The wound on her arm was weeping and the bandage was dirty. It was a different dressing than the hospice nurse had put on. She would not have survived if the hospice aide had not stopped by every evening on her own time, gotten her out of bed, cleaned her up, eaten dinner with her and put her to bed.
