Our children have been patients at two of the "top-rated" pediatricians as we've moved over the years--and this is the only practice where you're truly treated as a person, not just a number. If you're looking for speed and convenience, you can always go to an assembly-line pediatrician. But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Here, they take the time to listen, assess thoughtfully, and treat your family like their own.

The dismissive and condescending pediatrician left me puzzled by the positive reviews. From the start the doctor seemed very hurried whether it was a well checkup or a sick visit. On the sick visit he completely dismissed our son's symptoms as normal. His current pediatrician, on the other hand, took his time to carefully listen to his history, asked questions, performed a thorough exam and ultimately diagnosed him with a congenital issue. On the third and final visit I was shocked by the treatment I received. Dr. McEachern discovered that I preferred organic baby formula for our son. He proceeded to lecture me for 10 minutes on how all baby formula is exactly the same, that organic is just a marketing label (targeted at idiot consumers like myself apparently) etc. And then after getting off his soap box (his words), he admitted that he forgot whether he had even examined my baby after getting so fired up. I would urge anyone considering this pediatrician to search this practice's google reviews, which portray a completely different and more accurate picture than the yelp reviews. Other cons to this practice- the office itself seems old and outdated and on one occasion had a terrible smell of body odor. They also do not have any Saturday hours. On the plus side their receptionists are friendly and there was never more than a few minutes wait.

When I called to ask why we were being dismissed, the receptionist seemed to have zero empathy and simply said I was welcome to email the manager of the office. No thank you. Unfortunately, from check-in to the end of my daughter's appointment, the entire experience was unprofessional and upsetting. The front desk staff were not welcoming or friendly. I felt uncomfortable asking questions because of their attitude. I brought my 10-year-old daughter in because she has been complaining of leg and foot pain for almost two months. I have personally watched her struggle with this pain, and she has even stopped participating in sports because of it. Our first interaction was with the medical assistant, Blanca Stanislado. She never introduced herself or greeted us. When we walked in, I said "Hi," but she didn't respond. Instead, she simply motioned with her head for us to continue into the room. After taking my daughter's height and weight, I politely asked if she could tell me the measurements. She mumbled the information so quietly that I couldn't understand her. I apologized and asked her to repeat it, but she mumbled it again with the same attitude. It honestly felt like I had to beg just to receive basic information about my own child. She then said, "The doctor will be in shortly," and left the room. The appointment with Dr. Ingrid Johnson was even more concerning. I understand that doctors want to communicate directly with children, and I fully support encouraging kids to speak for themselves. However, throughout the visit, Dr. Johnson directed nearly every question to my daughter, even though many of the questions required information that only I, as her parent, could accurately provide. As my daughter became increasingly nervous, she struggled to answer. Instead of helping her feel comfortable, the questioning made her feel intimidated. Dr. Johnson told my daughter she should keep a log every time she experiences pain and suggested that because the pain doesn't last for hours, it wasn't particularly concerning. She also asked whether my daughter plays sports, to which she answered "no." The reason she no longer plays sports is because of the pain--something I was trying to explain. Throughout most of the appointment, Dr. Johnson barely acknowledged me. She often turned her back toward me while speaking only to my daughter. Finally, I had to speak up firmly and say, "I understand you're asking her questions, but I think I can provide more information about what she's been experiencing." I explained that I have noticed my daughter's flat feet, that her ankles roll inward, her heels tilt outward, and that I believe these issues are contributing to her leg and knee pain. I specifically requested referrals so her condition could be properly evaluated. Only then did Dr. Johnson respond by saying, "Oh, yes. That makes sense." She agreed to provide the referrals, closed her laptop, and left the room. The most heartbreaking part of this experience happened after we left the office. My daughter began crying in the car. She told me that Dr. Johnson made her feel like she was lying about her pain. She even said she almost wanted to tell the doctor that her legs didn't hurt anymore because she felt the doctor didn't believe her. As a parent, that broke my heart. Children absolutely should be encouraged to participate in conversations about their health. However, physicians must also recognize that parents observe their children every day. We notice changes, patterns, and abnormalities that a child may not be able to explain. Parents and physicians should work together--not make a child feel scared or dismissed. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously so that no other child leaves this office feeling unheard, intimidated, or afraid to speak honestly about their pain.

When I went back to the check in desk to ask what the issue was, they didn't even have my son's name correct and stated that they had the folders swapped. Mind you there were only 2 rooms with patients. This type of incompetence is not what we pay for and is completely unacceptable. There is a sign at the check in desk that states if you are 15 min late for your appointment you will need to reschedule, but they have no problem making you wait more than 15 min for a 10 min checkup. Needless to say will no longer be going to this practice.

He is seen every 3 to 6 months. His next appointment was due, so I called the office and at that time I was notified that we were no longer welcome back to the practice due to the $17. I offered to pay the $17 yesterday and the manager told me that even if I pay the $17 my son may or may not be welcome back to the practice. If I would've paid it yesterday, I would have to wait over a week for the owner of the practice to get back from vacation to read a certified letter I would have to write explaining why the $17 is past due. I told the manager yesterday that my son cannot be off his medication for very long so now he has to wait over a week and a half to see a new doctor. Manassas Pediatrics has chosen $17 over patient care. Avoid this practice.

One of my favorite things that they do is go back and review your notes from the visit before so they come in the room prepared instead of you having to reexplain everything because it's a different doctor. Fortunately, up until this past weekend, my daughter only needed her well-visits. Each visit the doctor was thorough and very good at explaining everything to us and answering all of our questions. As first time parents this is great! This weekend our daughter had a high fever and vomiting, and when I called the Doctor's number in the middle of the night at 2am on a Sunday morning, then again at 2pm on Sunday, the Doctor picked right up! No answering service, straight to the Doctor, which was amazing! She called in a prescription right away and gave us some advice that had our little one feeling so much better the next morning! It saved us a trip to Urgent Care! Dr. Haynesworth followed up early Monday morning to see how she was doing when she hadn't heard from us. As for the office staff, we had an issue at one point where I got a bill for every one of her well-visits, which weren't being covered by our insurance. Turns out Dr. Haynesworth wasn't listed as the Primary Care Doctor on our insurance, so they weren't covering her "out-of-network." The front office staff should have noticed this on our insurance card, so they offered to cover the fees that our insurance wasn't willing to. Luckily, I was able to argue it with our insurance company and they took care of everything. The assistants who first see you in the room to take vitals and write down any questions could be a little more personable, as well as the girl(s) who give the injections, but this isn't a reflection of the care we receive there overall. They have late office hours which is very convenient too. And a few reserved parking spots so I've never had an issue parking right in front. Unfortunately, we are moving out of the area this month and will have to find a new Pediatrician. I am very sad to be leaving Dr. Haynesworth!! I hope we can find someone just as great near our new home!
