I went on opening night despite the terrible reviews because it was half off. I'm not sure if I went on a great night or if they made improvements since the last reviews. My friend and I had a very solid experience. I go to a lot Halloween events and this was certainly above average. Lines on opening night were very manageable, we got through all 5 attractions in 2 hours. Haunted Hayride, Brigham Manor, and Festival of Fear were all solid. Acting, makeup, and maze design weren't top notch but they were all good enough to get the job done. The hayride was surprisingly long and diverse. The Colony was the only clear dud here. Just a quiet walk in the woods with few scares. Carnage had great design but it was a bit low on scare actors. There were plenty of places for scares that were just empty. It was later in the night so maybe the staff was thinning out. Either way, it was a bit disappointing for it to not live up to its potential. That said, I would still put in the positive category. There were a few extras that I didn't opt into but I could see a lot of value in. There's a beer tent, decent food, zombie paintball, mini golf, and go-karts. Enough optional stuff to make a VIP pass worth the price if I wasn't trying to get there after work. Bottomline, it was worth $20 (half off price) and I would say I'd be happy had I paid full fare. We've been traveling to Spooky World/Mel's Fun Park for years. Our first few visits were great. As VIP visitors, we had an unlimited time playing mini-golf and riding the go-carts at the Fun Park until the event opened at 7pm. Buying one ticket and getting one free is a good deal for the opening weekend. Entering the event's main gate, we walked the grounds in the main court checking out the food vendors and other side attractions such as zombie paintball, a palm reading hut, gift shop, and the large bonfire. And not to forget the actors dressed in full scary costumes scattered around. Our first stop would always be the beer tent for a drink or two. We would spend time there and watch the scary dressed actors frighten the guests. With a slight buzz, and four main attractions to choose from, we picked the first one to go through. We always chose the hayride last. After the spread of a new virus in 2019, things at Spooky World had changed. There was now a thing called timed tickets. Visitors would have to buy a ticket for a time slot and line up for a haunted attraction that was selected by the Fun Park to walkthrough first. Visitors were no longer able to roam free around the main court when first arriving. This format remained in place after the end of the pandemic. Buying a drink was now from a booth setup in a section of the parking lot outside of the ticket/arcade building, next to the noisy go-cart track. Picnic tables were also there for use... but not many. This area, to be honest, was boring. Nothing to watch other than the go-carts, batting cage, and people in line for beer. A pre-made, roped off, path to each main attraction was now in place and to me felt constricting as if being corralled and rushed through to each haunted attraction. The roped path ends at the main court of food vendors and side attractions. (2 star rating) It's disappointing we lost freedom to wander the main court on arrival and pick what order we wanted to see the haunted attractions. I feel like it's only fair that I add an update to my previous review of Nightmare New England, as my boyfriend and I went back on opening weekend of the 2010 season and we had a really good experience. Upon our arrival, we hit up the ticket booth followed *immediately* by the full bar inside Woodman's Restaurant. We each got a couple of "Jack-o-Lanterns" (a black and tan variation that used pumpkin ale as the "tan" component, and which was rimmed with cinnamon sugar) and proceeded to hit up the haunts. Admittedly, the fact that I was slightly buzzed might have made the experience a bit better on its own - but even still, props to this place for even having a full bar in the first place. There was a lot more action this year than last - more actors, more scares, more attendees - all of which added up to make the whole place feel a lot more energized and fun. Some of the individual attractions (of which there are still 7) were re-themed slightly, and the improvements were noticeable. All in all, I had a really fun time - I can comfortably say this place has earned a solid 4 stars and a confident recommendation that you visit if you're in the general area and you're at all into Halloween-related fun. read more

II had a great time at Spookyworld...er um.... Nightmare New England... er... um... whatever I had fun. Though I must preface this review by stating that I'm a giant chicken, I must also add that I went with a group of 9 people... and we all (yes my loving boyfriend, even you) were pretty flip-floppin-scared. My personal favorite was 'Raven's Claw,' which was a lovely walk through a ghoul-filled graveyard. The best part about this 'house' was that it was outside and you had to literally walk through the woods. Terrifying! One word... Chainsaw My least favorite 'house' was buried alive.... which simulates what the title suggests... kind of. No thank you. I've decided to give it 4 stars based on the fact that I'm a poor starving college student, and $30 just to get into the 7 houses (once each only) was kind of a ripoff. And though the peppermint schnapps hot-cocoa I pre-gamed with at the outdoor bar-ish thing they had was good... but not $8 worth of good. All in all, you have about 2 weekends left to enjoy this spooky halloweenish fun. The only real reason this review is two stars rather than one is it was buy one get one ticket free (opening weekend). There were help wanted signs everywhere... and they are in desperate need. With your regular admission you get to go through four haunted houses and one hayride. With the VIP ticket you can go through endlessly, I believe. Most of the haunted houses were very well decorated but lacked the jump from your skin and run appeal. Carnage was garbage, only two workers for the whole thing. The point is to have people jump out and scare you. This did not happen. You pretty much just meandered through most of the houses without a fright in sight. The 3d clown house was pretty cool, especially featuring really artistic drawings on the walls and a spinning tunnel, my favorite. Will I drive an hour and 45 minutes back here next year? No. Oh yeah, and one of the food stands advertising all these tasty carnival foods didn't actually sell any of it, just tenders and fries. No blooming onion, no fried pickles. What a joke. People were smoking a vaping EVERYWHERE. It was disgusting. read more

I'll give you an idea of what my experience was on an October 2009 Thursday Night at Spooky World. Upon arrival my boyfriend and I noticed that there was a good 10 or more attractions at the destination. All things looked well. They had the spooky music playing and guys in stilts wearing awesome costumes. Everything seemed to be fine until we started to notice little hints of carnie seeping through the cracks of this event. There were men & women mocking me and my boyfriend to go play those dart type of games you see at fairs. They had a bull ride (which I enjoyed) as well as a moon-bounce (also enjoyed), but both are very carnie-ish. They had a mini go cart track (again very carnie-ish and not so haunted) and they also had a paintball set up where you shoot 'ghosts' which are really just a bunch of dudes dressed in black with helmets standing behind some iparty tombstones waiting to be shot. Once again very carnie-ish. Amongst the actually haunted houses that they did have, the lines where very long and the attractions themselves were alright. I could probably drive 20 min to a destination closer to home and have the same experience. Overall for $60 my boyfriend and I paid for a carnival with some carnies attempting to put together haunted houses. I'll spend my money where people actually focus their energy on making a haunted attraction and not just another fair. This place is the greatest! Everyone who left bad reviews is probably just trying to overcompensate for the fact that they were pee-your-pants scared and afraid to admit it. Anyways, Nightmare New England has consistently created the best haunted attraction in the NE area for the past few years. The attention to detail, both inside and outsides the haunts, is amazing. The sets are meticulously crafted to scare visitors, while simultaneously creating a fun, high-energy environment. The costumes and makeup really add to the whole experience and all of the actors seem very professional and enthusiastic. Sure, the admission price isn't "cheap," but you definitely get your moneys worth. Plus, you'd probably spend the same amount, if not more, spending your night at some horrible bar full of loud, annoying music and foam, or whatever the kids are into these days. I've done both general admission and VIP and they each have their perks. GA obviously has longer lines, but standing in line hearing the screams coming from inside the haunts for 45 minutes really adds to the anticipation of it all. Plus, there are actors wandering through the lines scaring people texting, tweeting, SnapChatting, or whatever on their phones, and that makes me laugh. VIP rules because - duh - shorter lines, bonfire, feeling cool, etc. If you plan to spend the entire night there, go with the VIP so you can visit each haunt as many times as you want. So basically if you want to have a great time being scared in a beautiful setting along the Merrimack River, go to Nightmare New England. Also, ride the go-karts. They rule. read more

This place is not very good! Over an hour at each attraction!!! The only thing this place cares about is packing as many people in as possible! We arrived at 7;30 and left at 1am and only got to do 3 attractions! The attractions were just ho-hum not much substance at all. This place was cool. but the lines where WAY too long (easily over an hour wait per area). to spice it up they did have actors in costume walking through the lines sneaking up on people during conversations, or while they where texting on their phones. this may have been my favorite part. once you go into one of a possible 7 haunted houses/areas it was very well done. i do not scare easily, at all, rarely even. and they did a very good job here. much better than i thought it would have been. The actors did a great job at surprising people without being able to touch them. There was a VIP upgrade available, for another $25, but considering that you already paid $30, if you where treating another person or more, it can get expensive quick. we got the standard amount, and had fun, but only attended 3 areas. it was kinda cold out, and after 3-4 hours, we had all had our fill. i recommend either showing up later one (after 10:30pm), getting the VIP pass, or showing up early and enjoying the carnival aspect of the place, and not even getting in line till later one. we noticed as we left that the lines where half as long. all in all, a good time. read more

This was my third year visiting this attraction, and something has definitely gone downhill since last year. Where are all the volunteers this time? Most of the venues had a skeleton crew and many of those folks were wet rags that just stood there staring at you. The entire place seemed empty and lethargic in comparison to last time. The first demerit was earned in front of Brigham Manor when one volunteer with a face painted to look like a cartoon Freddy from Nightmare on Elm street gave us the typical policy speech about not using phones nor flash lights or touching the volunteers. She must have gone off script because she informed us that if we did use our phones she " would break them". I am pretty sure breaking someones property even in that circumstance would be a crime. Brigham manor was the first because I knew it was the least since last year. It was even more neglected since last year and that was a running theme for the rest of the attractions. The first thing was the oh so scaring lack of a ceiling as you enter and the entire thing seemed to be supplied with such a minimum of electricity that you couldn't see a damn thing. I could vaguely make out there were supposedly scary things to see in there but couldn't really make them out. It was pretty much just a claustrophobic crowded walk through a dark plywood rat maze. This year The Colony was ok. This only because of the laser fog room at the end. That was cool. More stuff like that for sure,.....please. The Hayride is definitely the most elaborate and its clear they pour most of their efforts into that. The placement of volunteers was in my opinion pretty ill conceived again in that as well. In many parts where volunteers might have made things super creepy there were none, and in parts where autonomic beasts were capturing the attention, lame volunteers were trying to get your attention with plastic spiders on a stick. No little dork, the huge monster in the barn is not something you can nor should even try to compete with. I was shocked no one posed as one of those grey shrouded and un-moving props. That would have been awesome had one of them been an actual person and suddenly reached out at us. There were some old faces in the volunteer group who were as awesome as ever but they were too few. It seems there was a strike or something. Where did all the good volunteers go this year and is NE just scraping the bottom of the barrel for actors now? The place seemed utterly neglected and sparsely staffed. After that what meager actors were to be found in each venue were lack luster and often seemed unmotivated. I was forced to park in the 10$ section by a manic old man with a glowing stick in the street even though 5$ parking was still available. It makes you want to punch someone in the face when the price doubles for parking as you drive only a dozen feet down the road. Greedy opportunistic scalpers! The evidence suggests that what few volunteers were in place for each job including parking, were overworked due to lack of enough people. So they were disgruntled and tired. The only place there was an abundance of staff ready to pounce was the 10$ parking areas, that makes sense I guess. I brought a friend who was there for the first time and was excited to share what I had experienced last year. I felt like I owed him an apology after last night. I had talked it up so much. The expectations should have been much much lower. What the hell happened? Did the people in charge piss off their volunteer base this year or were they attracted to better opportunities? Next year I will be watching the reviews closely before deciding to return spending so much money, and time coming over from the other side of the state, and recruiting others. read more

We went this past weekend and really enjoyed it. It's early enough in the season that we didn't have to wait too long for any of the haunts, and it wasn't too cold that being outside was unbearable. We got there at 6, and only 2 of the 7 houses were open, so we bought our tickets and got a beer at the tavern. At 7:00 they opened the rest and we made a B-line for one of the houses, zigzagged to a few more, took a break, then finished up. The "3-D" haunt was surprisingly good, but some of our party had trouble wearing the glasses for too long. It was a bit disorienting, by design. The actors were pretty good, they didn't break the rules, but did a good job scaring everyone they could. In the back corner of the field is "The Colony"/"Ravens Claw" were actually placed end-to-end so while it's technically 2 haunts, it's really just one long one. It's a bit of a cheat, but it's easily twice as long many of the other houses so it's not too bad. There were several places to stop and get food and drinks, most of them are outside but there is the fairly small tavern. The drinks were great and cheap, I recommend the "Jack O' Lantern", which is a black and tan with Murphys stout and Shipyard Pumpkinhead beers. They had decent food there but the stalls outside sell carnival fare; fried dough, fries, etc. There are also a number of carnival booths to kill some time at, and a stage hosted a live band throughout the night. There was also an outdoor beer garden that had a large stone firepit. The first was kept roaring and people gathered around to keep warm. Parking was easy, there is a lot directly across the street from the entrance and charged $5, though they gave you a $5 off coupon for parking. If that is full there are private lots on either side for $10. I say drive past the first lots and try to get to the main one, and save the change. As I said so early in the season the lines weren't much trouble but as it gets closer to Halloween be prepared to wait for a good long while. Dress warmly, the haunts are in a big field and the wind can whip up pretty nasty there. They offer a "VIP" pass that gives you quicker access to the rides and other freebies, but it costs a bit extra. All-in-all I had a good time. One of the houses advertises a tight space and to avoid that part if you are extremely claustrophobic. There was no warning when you got to the tight space, and no real way around, you just had to get through. read more

A surprising treat! Went on opening weekend to score the two for one ticket deal. For $60 (62.50 w/processing fees) the bf and I were given "VIP treatment" aka unlimited access to the Mel's Funway attractions, the haunts and shorter lines. Normally VIP tickets are $60 per ticket, so this was a steal. We arrived at 5:30 approx an hour and a half before the haunts opened. Parking was $5 (all proceeds benefit a local charity) and was across the street from the park. There was plenty of police escorts and parking attendants to make the process smooth and easy. We redeemed our tickets at the arcade since the main booth opened at 6 and were given wristbands. The go-kart line was extremely long so we killed time playing mini-golf. The Funway attractions are your typical "carnie" experience; overpriced, loud, and crowded. However, with the VIP wristband it was all "free" and made it much more worth it. The average wait time per hole was less than 5 minutes and the staff is really friendly. We entered the haunts at around 7:15 pm (approx. 15 min after the gate opened) and already it was CROWDED. Tip: start at the back and make your way forward. With the VIP tickets the average wait time per haunt was 10-15 minutes as opposed to the general admission line where people were waiting upwards of 30-45 minutes. Yet, the staff is cognizant of this. Actors weave in out of lines scaring unsuspecting visitors. The makeup is simply amazing, everyone is willing to take pictures, and the wait flies by. The haunts were great. After visiting Salem, MA last year and seeing their quality of haunts I was a bit skeptical. I was so unbelievable happy to be proved wrong! You can tell that people put a lot of effort into the haunts. They were not just dilapidated makeshift buildings thrown together at the last minute. You could tell there was a plan and it shows. The actors are really dedicated (and seem to enjoy) their jobs. I especially loved that they can't touch you. It took away a lot of apprehension knowing I would not be grabbed. Personally, I thought the best haunts were Colony (due to length) and Carnage (due to variation of scares). Freakshow 3-D definitely had the most interesting aesthetic appeal, but to many people were let in at once (10-12 people). This was probably due in part that it was the first haunt people see upon entering and the staff was trying to move things along. However, I would have enjoyed waiting an extra 5-10 minutes to have 5 people enter at once and actually have actors scare me instead of just following the back of the pack. We got through all 5 haunts in just under two hours and though we had the option of going through a second time, the lines were too long. There were typical "carnie" food stands and games, but they were seriously overpriced and looked low-quaility. The bonfire was really nice though. After finishing, it was nice to see lights on at the park and having the option to ride the go-karts or play golf. Getting out of the lot was easy and there was no traffic due to the police escorts. Overall, great time! Definitely would not pay $60 per ticket for the experience, but with the deal it was more than worth it. Can't wait to go back next year! read more

I'm not sure why all the lame reviews! I had the time of my life! I went with a bunch of friends the weekend after Halloween..and had the whole place to ourselves!! It sucked that you had to pay to park! But, the place is open once a year! They have to make money..Hello! ONCE A YEAR!!!!! I paid I believe $25.00 for my ticket and once I hit the park I had every monster you could think of swarm me! It was awesome! I have more pictures than I know what to do with! On to the haunted houses that had no lines..except maybe 2 that we waited in for about 10-15 minutes! I will say that some of the haunted houses were lacking monsters. I believe it was because it was a week "after" Halloween. But, it still absolutely had tons of scare factor! I loved every minute of it! I liked it before it was Spooky world. I think the houses that Spooky World added weren't nearly as great as the ones that were at Nightmare New England. I loved Buried Alive because it was different then anything I've ever been to before except the previous year when I went. I hated how they were EXACTLY the same from the previous years. As long as you can use the Groupon deal it is worth it. I have gone a couple of times over the years and the clown house seems to be the best haunted house. The guy that's on the dunk tank is hilarious too and often leaves people 'high and dry'. I do recommend making sure food is re-stocked appropriately and some of the lines can get out of control, but when haunted houses are only open a couple of months and on the weekends, not sure what people expect? read more

This place is absolutely TERRIBLE! Next to another haunt in Candia, this is the worst of all of the haunts we do. $40 for general ticket or $80 for VIP. Do NOT pay these prices. The lines are so long and when you get it you're just herding through the houses like cattle, really hard to get a good scare like that. There are so many better options for Halloween in NE. It's fine, it is what it is. Nightmare New England/Spookyworld's biggest issue is that it's essentially a tourist trap far surpassing the many other great options. They have you buy a ticket online, and then make you wait in line to redeem it--which makes no sense, other than so they can charge you to buy a VIP ticket to skip this initial line (there is little other upside to VIP tix besides this). If you do decide to go, don't buy a ticket online. You'll have to wait in line for your tickets anyways so might as well save yourself the service charge. But just go to Witches Woods or something instead and have a more enjoyable time while waiting less in line. They all have the same stuff and Spookyword/Nightmare has gone far downhill in recent years read more

No. Just....no. I can't even give a thorough review on this place because it took us THREE HOURS to get through two of the five attractions. At 10:30, we saw the lines to get into the other three, and decided it wasn't worth the aggravation. If you decide that you do want to waste your hard earned money on this place, buy a VIP ticket online and in advance - because on some nights, they "sell out" of VIP tickets 30 minutes after the ticket booth opens. Even the VIP lines are atrocious, but at least they are somewhat shorter. Also, start at the back and work your way forward. We got through the line for Raven's Claw in under twenty minutes, but the haunt itself was a joke. Nothing scary, and they basically send you through in an assembly line of 20+ people, so the few scares that are in there are spoiled before you are even close. After that mess, and seeing every "actor" break character because their friends were there, we decided to try Brigham Manor, because it *looked* promising. Wrong. We waited in line for two hours, and were through the haunt in maybe 3 minutes. Complete waste of time. One individual in line, who was clearly underage, snuck in booze, started drinking while waiting, got tipsy, and started picking fights with people in line. That was fun. And we may have cracked the code as to why the lines are about a mile long. Every...single...teenager in line just had to have their picture taken with every...single...character attempting to entertain people waiting in line. It gets old quick, and creates HUGE gaps in the line. We were hoping to get into Freak Show, because even though it's been there since they opened, and is the same exact thing every year, at least its fun. Didn't happen though, because judging by the line, we wouldn't have gotten in until after midnight. We've been going every year since they opened (as just Nightmare New England), and this was probably the last. It's taken a complete nose dive ever since Spooky World got involved. This place is grossly overpriced, understaffed, and is a complete shit show. I wouldn't mind paying the price if the place didn't look so cheap. This was without a doubt one of the most (if not the most) annoying nights of my life. Nightmare New England - you are better than this. Send Spooky World back to Canobie Lake Park, bring back Buried Alive, SleepStalkers, etc... and you'll get your loyal customers back. read more

I have been to Nightmare New England one time before my most recent time this year and it was enjoyable, however this time was a completely different experience. I went with my boyfriend along with two other couples in our friend group. We decided it would be something fun and different to do with the upcoming holiday. We got there, paid, and went on the haunted hayride. Keep in mind, on the hayride we were all sitting on our significant others laps and there was also one other couple on the ride not with our group. After about 15 minutes, the hayride came to an end and when we got off we were immediately confronted by 4 police officers. The police offers stated that one of the female workers said that we "exposed ourselves" to them while on the ride. They were mainly directing this towards one of the males in our group who was with his girlfriend as I stated above. We tried to talk to the officers as we had no idea what they were talking about because this event NEVER occurred. It was a couples event and NOBODY was "exposing themselves". They gave us no option except to leave, and on top of that had to escort us to our vehicles. So basically we paid all this money, and then had to leave after 20 minutes based on a false accusation. The next day after this event, my boyfriend called and spoke with the manager of Mel's facility. My boyfriend proceeded to tell him that we were extremely unhappy as there was no proof of this occurring and that if they have cameras or can verify with the other couple on the ride that this did not happen then they need to do so. Of course he said there were no cameras and he could not contact that couple. My boyfriend asked if this was something that happened often and that they clearly need to speak with their employees about the consequences of lying about something so serious. The manager proceeded to say that there was nothing he could do and my boyfriend then asked to speak with the owner. The manager said he wasn't usually available and at this point my boyfriend stated this, "We do not care about the money whatsoever, were not looking to get any money back, we would just like a formal apology and to be permitted access back into the park again without having to pay as you have already taken our money". We thought this was a reasonable request. He said this wouldn't be possible and at this point they ended the conversation. I have tried to call since myself to set up a meeting with the manager and have received no calls back after leaving voicemails on the Mel's phone line. I find this whole business to be extremely unprofessional and am outraged that such false accusations can be made and that nothing was done to make the situation right. I'm not one to bash any business, this would be my first time and I'm only resorting to this because it's the only option left. I have been in business management for quite some time and just find this whole situation absolutely shocking as this is not how a reputable place present themselves and is most certainly not how I run my business. I will never spend my money at this place again, whether it be Nightmare NE or any other time at Mel's. read more

RIP OFF!!!!!! Drove my kid and some friends last weekend. I pulled into a parking area and was told I would have to pay $5 just to drop them off. They each paid $30 to get in and after touring the haunted houses were told they were done......you have to pay $50 to go into them a second time! No surprise since this is Mel's Funway Park which also overcharges for 5 lame attractions in the summer. Your money is better spent at Canobie Lake Park if you are looking for value. The owner of this place should be arrested for robbery. read more

We just wanted to warn everyone going to Nightmare New England. Be prepared to make it a more than one night trip! The lines are so long over the weekend that we waited almost 2 hours for one attraction and all of the attractions were like this. The haunted house we went into was fun but we spoke with some people that said you could only do 1 to 2 attractions a night. They do offer VIP passes for 50 bucks and if you are willing to spend the money, it's worth it because you get to cut the line. Good luck! read more

My first and last time visiting Spooky World. A group of 8 of us went on opening night and paid $35 for two people with our coupon from Dunkin' Donuts only to see 3 out of the 5 attractions. We waited over an hour in line to get into each attraction. I get scared easily at these types of places, but not here. Ravens Claw, Carnage and Freak Show maze were in my opinion understaffed with actors, most of the time we found ourselves searching for them. Staff at the ticket booth were really pushy, and two of us got yelled at for standing to the far side of the ticket booth waiting for the rest of our group to purchase tickets. One member in particular at the beginning of one of the attractions shouted at a group of us nearing the front of the line to "shut up!" after we had waited an hour to get in. I will stick to Witch's Woods for my Halloween scares. read more

I am assuming that the creators of the "Haunted" hay ride have a different definition of haunted then I do...way too many "dead" areas, horrible acting, very predictable and lame. The length of the lines were scarier then the hay ride. read more

Opening night, lovely group of ladies getting together, nice weather. Recipe for a fun night right? If it was only the attractions it would have been great. The only reason why I'm giving it 2.5 starts is because I get waiting in lines for 30-50mins for opening weekend, but waiting for that long while there are dozens of people smoking like a chimney all around you is not a fun way to wait around. I've been to Spookyworld several times before and this is the first time I remember secondhand smoke affecting us so much. I could feel minutes of life shedding away from my lifespan. This was a huge issue for our group, we don't care what people do with their lungs as long as it's not affected us, but this was so unacceptable. People were just blowing huge balls of smoke into our faces and there was this horribly obnoxious group in front of us while waiting for the hayride that didn't really care much about that. These people were still smoking as we entered the attraction and that's completely unacceptable. Spookyworld seriously needs to think about implementing designated smoking areas around the park, no smoking anywhere else on the premises and especially not while in a 50+ minutes line. I understand people don't like loosing rights but I also need my right to clean air and healthy lungs to be respected. I don't think my group will be back unless we hear this issue has been resolved. We would have had such a great time if it wasn't for the fact that we all came out of there with horrible coughs and stuffy noses due to involuntary smoke inhalation. read more

I was looking forward to going for weeks, however, it was very disappointing. Definitely a waste of a Saturday night, $35 an the drive from Boston. The last time I had been to Spooky World it was is Foxboro, MA and it was amazing. Waited in line for almost an hour for the haunted houses only ended up doing 4 of the 6 because they were so lame. It's like they didn't even make an attempt to scare you. Most of the props were cool, but for an avid haunted house goer everything was very predictable, my face was hurting by the end of the night from laughing so much at how lame it was and other people actually being scared by this sad excuse for a gained house. I had gone to Spookyworld years ago, and thought it wasnt that great. I just went again this weekend and my opinion has def changed! Monsters haunting the grounds, GREAT scares! This is the attraction to go to!! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone over any other haunted houses! read more

Me some friends drove yesterday from Boston to see the Hunted attractions and the new hunted hayride! Oh my god!! What a great time we had! Everything was so scary. The hayride did blew our minds, the scenes looked so real and it had amazing lighting effects !! Such a great deal to enjoy one (or more) night of October! Also, you can get great food, drinks and music!!! read more

We went on a Saturday night and got VIP passes (totally worth skipping all the lines). The only annoying part of the experience was disrespectful teenagers on the hayride who ruined the experience by mocking the actors, I am still giving 5 stars because it wasn't the place's fault. Hayride was long and had many different themes. My favorite was the colony, it is dark, outdoors, and people jump out unexpectedly, so fun! Do yourself a favor and grab a pumpkin beer or two before you head into the haunts, even more fun! read more

Place is going down hill.Looks like they put a lot of money in the wrong things.The hayride.So If you just like looking at props, the hayride is for you. They put a lot of money into the outside props on the hayride. There was a outside tree village high up in the trees, which was cool, But it had nothing to do with halloween. It was more like a ewok village from star wars. You can tell this place lost alot of talent or they got rid of good talent.If you have been here before, a lot is different. The midway in the field is lame and there used to be bands that played which was cool, but no more.Some of haunts have loud sounds. Not scary, just annoying. Place is a waste of money for the ammount of ammusement, lines are long for a so so haunted house. The only shock factor is the surprise scares or loud noises. The groups are to big to even get a fright. Tickets are way over priced. I came from the hampton seacoast and its not worth the travel. read more

I've been to nightmare New England for the past two years and I was extremely disappointed to see that nothing has changed. All of the haunted houses were the same as last years. The lines were a 30-45 min wait and we had to pay for parking. It's not that great for paying 40$ for general admission. They have a VIP section however if you want to pay 70$ your night would be a total of maybe an hour since you skip the lines. If you have children that might be a great option however if you want to make it a night, general admission is better (if you can wait in the 30-45 min line). Make sure you save around 5 hours total for the attractions. We gave ourselves 3 and only made it to 3 out of the 5 which was a waste of money. If you have been before you'll also remember that their are people walking around in costumes scaring you through out the park... their weren't as many as years prior and they all had the same costumes. If they are going to continue on they should try to change things up a bit! read more

Bought tickets well in advance took time off work rented a hotel drove two hours. Nor'easter closed the place down and when we called they would not refund the tickets, when we asked if we could use them next year they said no. They tried to persuade us to drive even farther next weekend and spend more money to go to an affiliated park, when we explained to them this wasn't possible they hide behind the ticket agency. Needless to say we will never return. read more

You MUST go on a Thursday or Sunday to get a better haunt. Went on Thursday, got to go into everything as a group of two or four. Was much better than recent years going on a Saturday. Hay ride was ok. Carnage was a great set up but not dark. Colony was good, wish there were more actors. Brigham manor was also good, dark but seemed to be short on actors also. read more

People, please DO NOT waste your money on this place. I've been to many other haunted houses, and this was by far the least scary of all of them. My 10 year old son wasn't even fazed by anything he saw here, which wasn't much by the way because even on opening weekend the lines were at least an hour long for each attraction (other than Ravenclaw which was lame) so we only ended up seeing 2 of the attractions. I felt like I was at Disney World, only the difference is that the rides at Disney are actually entertaining. You have to pay $60 for the VIP ticket, which is the only way to possibly see everything there in a reasonable amount of time, which is an insane amount of money to pay for mediocre entertainment. The only reason this place is so popular is that they have little competition in the area and they market themselves well. For half the price you can go to Destination Haunt in Lebanon, ME with almost no lines and you're in and out in about an hour and it's much more entertaining. Then to top it all off my car got towed supposedly because I was blocking some entrance even though it was just the corner spot in the lot with no signs saying not to park there, so my kids and I were forced to walk a mile down a busy street at 10pm only to find out the impound yard was closed. Fortunately the owner's house is on the same property so I had the pleasure of paying an additional $100 to get my car back. read more

This is hands down our favorite place to go this time of year! We usually check out 4-8 haunts a year and this is by far the best I have ever been to! The different attractions change a little bit every year (at least a little bit!) and still get me every time! That's important as we have been coming for at least the last 5 years. From the time you walk down the midway and are greeted by monsters to the time you hop in line to be terrified, there is never a dull moment. I love the fact that you can go at your own pace and do as many or as few of the different "houses" as you like and can take a break at their bonfire and enjoy a beverage. The later of the two comes with the VIP ticket, which I would highly recommend. Hardly any lines with them, plus the fire and drink as well as being able to go through as many times as you would like, versus just one time each with the general admission. My favorite is the Freak Show as I am super scared of clowns, especially those on the dark side!! Highly recommended for any and all Halloween and/or horror enthusiasts! read more
