Had never been to a haunted house before and had a great time - this was the perfect amount of spooky! We were in a group with kids ranging ages 7-12 and did the hayride and the main haunted house. The hayride was not scary at all and it was a good way to get warmed up before the real scare. The real haunted house was enough of a scare for the group that we left without doing the three other haunted houses but with a different group of older kids, there would definitely have been enough to do for a few more hours. If you're going early on a Sunday with younger kids, you may not need the VIP pass but if you have a group of older thrill seekers, it would be worth it for the chance to go through certain parts more than once. read more

I've always wanted to go to Spooky World, and I finally made it! Overall, I had such a great time -- it definitely lives up to its reputation. We went on a Saturday around 10 PM and lucked out with parking -- we somehow ended up super close to the entrance, which was awesome (though it did make finding the ticket booth a little confusing at first, lol). Prices were fair, though the VIP option felt a bit steep. Totally worth it to get in and out in one hour, which was the end of a fun day up in New Hampshire before trekking back home to southeastern Mass. The hayride was the perfect start. I didn't realize the actors could touch you, which added a wild twist. My poor husband (who was already reluctantly along for the ride ) was not prepared for that, but it made for some hilarious memories. The actors were amazing. As far as touching, they tapped my shoulder and tried to put my hood on my head haha. The sets, animatronics, and pyrotechnics were incredible. The haunted houses were great, too. You go in order through The Colony, Asylum, and the 3D haunt. My favorites were The Colony and 3D, mostly because we went in smaller groups of four instead of a big pack of twelve like in Asylum. The scares were perfectly timed and the designs were top-notch. Special shout-out to the "claustrophobic" room in The Colony -- absolutely terrifying. It triggered every primal fear of being trapped or not being able to breathe I was trying to get out so fast I tripped and fell (survival instincts of a squirrel, apparently). My husband who does not enjoy being scared (or so he says, because he always ends up having fun) enjoyed himself... except the claustrophobic room. All in all, Spooky World delivered. As someone who loves spooky season and has been to my fair share of haunted attractions, this one's definitely up there among my favorites. I'd 100% go again! read more

My friend and I did not like it. This event has a no soul or passion put into it. It feels like a cash grab compared to the thoughtfulness, talent, and impressiveness of Fright Kingdom, which is the only haunt in the area worth going to. For any full-time wheelchair users, forget about going to this, because the haunted hayride is a main part of the event, and there's many stairs to get up to the tractor and then you have to sit on the flat bed trailer on top of hay. For ambulatory wheelchair users, you'll have a very difficult time with the challenging terrain and you'll end up walking for at least the outdoor mazes. The indoor mazes have very tight turns, but I was thankful an employee at least brought (and abandoned) my wheelchair at the end of the hayride so it was there when I disembarked. We were also grateful that the employees let us use the VIP line for each house with my wheelchair, but the mazes were not very good, and we didn't get very scared. However, from the beginning, the employees were not helpful in directing us to where we needed to go, as the ticket booth sign was not placed in a visible spot, and we ended up wheeling across the parking lot twice because we apparently needed to redeem our online tickets for a paper ticket that they check marked once. They directed us to go back across the parking lot and around an entire building to go to a ticket booth that had a very easy short cut that everyone watched us pass and no one invited us to go into. It wasted at least half an hour of our night. There was a severe lack of scare actors from the haunted hayride to the rest of the mazes. Some did a good job and brought a lot of energy, but a few can't carry the whole event, and we were worried about the scare actors' safety working the haunted hayride as they were jumping on and off the moving tractor, and a lot of feet/legs were sticking out. Overall, the money and time spent here was not at all worth it. Seriously, just go to Fright Kingdom and you'll be much more satisfied. read more

I've been going to Spooky World since the Foxboro days, and what's happening now is embarrassing. $76.99 for VIP? That's over double what it used to cost -- for less than half the experience. You only get 3 attractions and the hayride. That's it. They used to have 6+. VIP tickets? You can't even go through a second time without going back to the main ticket booth before closing to get a new wristband. Who thought that up? Timed ticketing means you're herded around like cattle with no freedom to enjoy the night at your pace. The VIP perks are gone. No lounge. No drinks. No popcorn. No candy. Nothing. Even the horror store is gone. No merch. No masks. No atmosphere. Just overpriced concessions. This isn't the haunt I remember. It's a stripped-down, over-commercialized cash grab that's completely lost touch with what made it special. If you remember how good it used to be, prepare to be disappointed. Not worth it. not scary at all. They dont let you go in your own group they make you go in a huge line with other people so there is no jump scare and the actors are all just out and about. You barely see any actors on the hayride trip. Let me start by saying that Spooky season is my favorite time of year, we try to go to at least one new haunted attraction that we've never been to before every year, this year we're going all new and not repeating any from last year. We had never been to Spooky World, it's over an hour from home, but we took the plunge due to their BOGO deal, not knowing what we were getting ourselves into. First off, Spooky World is built around/behind Mel's Funway Park, they have you park ($5 fee) what felt like at least a half mile away in a massive corn field, and then you make the trek on dangerous terrain to the check in area. The line moved relatively quickly as they had at least 4-6 windows open checking people in. Once you leave the check in, you're corralled through rope lines and then across the Mel's Funway/Mexican restaurant parking lot, past the go karts, batting cages, etc. into another line for the hayride. We did not have the option of doing the haunted houses first, we also were not given an option to do them in any order we wanted, once you end one attraction, you're corralled into a line for the next one. Let's start with the hayride, the line moved quickly, but almost took quickly, the tractor ahead of us was a little too close and we could see what was happening and what was coming at us, so there was no real scare factor. They also seemed to be lacking actors, there was a quite a bit of "dead" time on the ride where we were just riding through darkness, or just looking at their cool pumpkin decorations. The spider part of the "camp" was the best part by far. After the hayride, we were sent to the colony, which was a walk through the woods type thing, the line moved quickly, the actors need to work on their jump scares, and the chainsaw guys need to be a little more stealthy. Next up was the Asylum, this was the longest line we stood in, but it was still only about 15 minutes. There were actors milling about the line, which made it more fun, and less mundane. We had been told by another person in line that this was the scariest attraction and that the waiting in line would be worth it, it wasn't. It was ok, but it went so incredibly fast that it felt like we were in and out within 3 minutes. After that we were sent off to the 3D house, it was pretty cool, a lot of work went into it, the last part where the dance party was was the best. The exit landed us out on the "Monster Midway" which included a carnival type basket ball game, a beer garden and some carnival type food trucks. Everything was cash only and the ATM was charging a $5 fee. Definitely not worth going back, I'm glad we got the BOGO deal and didn't pay full price. read more

The sad thing about Spookyworld is the crap you need to deal with before you even walk through the gate. $49.99 to get in. So I pay for the three of us and the girl says that will be $163.55. I asked her if she needs a new calculated. She claims because the credit card company charges a fee they pass it along to their customers. Card companies may charge 2 or 3 percent, certainly not the 10% these clowns are ripping off the public for ! On top of that they now are charging $5 to park. Once in the park, the biggest scare I got was when I saw the price On the hooded sweatshirt! $70????? What a streal! Was it with the $168 for the three of us? Hell NO! Get the Groupon - I would never pay full price to come here. We paid $30 per person because there was an additional 20% off the already reduced $75 for 2 VIP tickets on Groupon. As of Oct 2019 VIP tix are $60 per person. Lines were not long. VIP moves super quick and we got there at 7 and finished by 10. The attractions are well done but they are understaffed. We went through all 5 attractions and there were so many missed opportunities for scaring! It would make sense to hire way more people because this is a seasonal thing. Some houses had absolutely no one in rooms so it was pretty disappointing. Anyways, it rained so we couldn't go kart (track was wet so a safety issue). Ponchos were free which was good. Paintball is 25 for $5 so it's not included in the ticket price. Overall, it was very fun to go in a group but not worth it because no one was working there. Waste of time and money apparently for 2021 the new main attraction is waiting in line for hours . They reversed the order of attractions and now force you to take the hayride first then you have to go thru every one of them immediately so it kinda like a speed run . So my group was in line before 8pm for the 8pm entry we didn't even get on the hayride until 10:15 . We were done the entire park In under an hour but we're there from 730 -11:20 . The tickets cause more there's less there the food and beer garden may not even be open when you actually get to the end . Food was open but the beer garden was closed by 11. I do not recommend going to this venue anymore . Go to Scream fest at canobie lake park instead . read more

A little late to this review, but as I was going through my camera roll I stumbled upon pictures from Spooky World this past season and it reminded me of what a good time we had, so I needed to leave a review. The fact that we went in September and now all the way in almost May I can still vividly remember events and characters from that night speaks volumes. We try to go to Spooky World every other year but we have missed the past few for certain reasons, but I can tell you we will be going here every year from now on. From the set design of the Asylum, to the beer that not many other haunts sell, to all of the characters roaming around, this place is amazing. I remember a black straight jacket guy with a chainsaw and his tag team partner with a walking stick that made my entire groups night! Who ever they are they are extremely talented and we will go back year after year just for them! The chainsaw guy chased one of our group members all over the park it was amazing. Overall an amazing time, yes I agree with other reviews that it is quite pricy but so isn't everything else in this world, if you are going to complain about prices then maybe you can't afford to spend a night out and shouldn't go! read more

I was here last night and it was SO fun. Nightmare New England should definitely have a better rating. They put so much effort in to the design of each house and the costumes, it's amazing. I'd love to walk through during the day sometime just to appreciate all of the work. I don't want to give anything away but I'll say that each attraction is so different and they incorporate tons of corners and turns so there are plenty of opportunities for someone to jump out at you. On a super busy night, VIP seems worth it. However, we got there around 1030 pm on a Saturday (park opens at 7) and the lines were really quick and we were able to make it through everything before close. This was my third time going to Nightmare New England over the past few years and it doesn't get old. There are enough small changes that you'll still be surprised and scared. The actors are not able to touch you and you cannot touch them, except for the haunted hayride where they will probably drag their hands over your face. Great night out with family and friends. There were 8 in our party with ages ranging from 13 to 48. We all had a blast. There were actors sprinkled throughout the queue lines to keep guests entertained while we waited. The hayride was pretty long and has lots of different scenes. The Colony was really cool as usual and 3D Dreamscape was pretty trippy with all the 3D paint work. My favorite haunt by far was Asylum though. It's very misleading from the outside but it's fantastic! The scenery and props alone are amazing. The gift shop is really cute as well - definitely worth checking out. If you go on a colder evening, the only advice I would give is to bring some hand warmers. read more

3.5-4 STARS - Do not go here expecting the Spooky-world from the 90s/2000s because this place in completely changed and definitely not in a good way. So if you go into this with the expectations that it is not going to be the same and take it for what it is, you may actually end up having a good time. Parking - $5 to park. Lots of attendants. Very organized and it was easy to find your way to the front even though they probably should've had someone telling people where to go because we had to find the entrance. It's a short distance. Entrance/Line to get in: This is the most waiting you'll do. We went on a Saturday and they had 10 lines open so it went pretty quickly. Saturday night our longest wait was an hour between checking in and getting on the hayride. After that it was only about 10 minutes or less in line at each Haunted House. They were very good at this in my opinion. Hayride: - THIS WAS AWESOME!! It was genuinely a blast, so long! Almost 20 minutes. Awesome effects, visuals, and the actors were so fun and there were tons of them! They had lots of hayrides going so the line went by quickly. Props were great, very creative. They definitely put the most amount of effort into the Hayride so our experience really started off with a bang. I would go here just for this it was a lot of fun. Colony: - This was also a lot of fun. You walk through the woods which is super creepy. Cohesive theme. My husband thought this was boring but I liked it a lot I was very entertained. Good amount of actors, great effects. Asylum: .8 - This was the creepiest of all the haunts. Some good scare moments with props that you couldn't tell if they were real or not. They definitely could have used a few more actors in this house. Really loved the theme it was genuinely fun to walk through the asylum. I got sprayed directly in the eye with toilet water which i'm sure was clean but also the idea was just disgusting (which is fun). Overall great just needed a few more actors. 3D House: - I feel bad because I'm sure a lot of time and effort went into this but it was a complete and total flop for me. Honestly a let down and a bad way to end the night. They should have quit after the first 3 and it would've been better than adding this throw away haunt. Barely any actors in the house. Only 2-3. Super short. Some of the graphics were fun but it honestly just felt like a waste of time. FOOD/DRINKS/GIFT SHOP: - This DEFINITELY needs some reworking. This is 100% a missed opportunity. You need more actors roaming here, specifically designed food and drinks you can. only get here with souvenir glasses. "Spooky" foods. If they changed this it would DRASTICALLY change the experience. You do not have access to this before you go into the haunts and i feel like this is a negative aspect because I definitely wanted a drink before we went in. (maybe that's why they don't let you lol) There's not a lot to choose from it's all fair food like fries and corn dogs and snacks.(sausages, hot dogs, fried dough, french fries, fried oreos) that's pretty much it. they have hot chocolate and cider. they do have a beer garden and the beers looked good. the gift shop is not even a gift shop it's honestly a complete joke. they really need to up their game i don't even know why they bother having this. and everything is a little on the expensive side which is to be expected but it does feel like you're getting slightly ripped off ‍ overall good experience but i'm not sure i'd make the hike to go back unless this was really close to where i lived. read more

They always keep me coming back! This year was the best experience I've had since preCovid and I have to thank and applaud all the workers for really honoring the name Spooky World! We went for opening night, I'm normally the leader of the pack in these houses but this year I was genuinely spooked, jumped, and even had moments I was running from actors it was the most FUN experience! The hayride is the best it's been in YEARS!!! Lots of jump scares and I love the new touches they've added onto it while keeping my favorites like the people talking in tongues and the plane crash. The colony was the one I genuinely was chased and even tripped over my friends which left us hysterically crying tears of laughter and joy. I did asylum last year on the blackout night but under the lights for sure was much better getting to see all the cooks inside. The 3D house isn't much of a scare but definitely super cool to look at everything which i love, (especially if you hit your pen a few times before entering) My only critique is I miss the ability to pick and choose which houses you want to do opposed to the circuit they put you on. Halloween is not here yet, but the speed at which the summer flew away, it will be there before we know. Spooky world across the MA border is a fun place which has it's clear cut positives and negatives. Here are my thoughts: - Attractions There are 5 different haunted houses / sections that are set up to scare you with everything that you can imagine. Typically its a maze of one kind or another whether you are going through the Brigham Manor or walking through The Colony or the Raven's Claw. Very dark all along the way, objects and people in costumes meant to scare you will come out of nowhere to meet the purpose of the whole experience. Even while walking through the grounds or while standing in the lines, these scary people will pop out of nowhere. Be prepared to be surprised. - Also, be prepared for Long Lines! If you are buying a general admission ticket (which most people will), on an average you will be in the line for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Going through each attraction won't take more than 5 minutes. We could not do Carnage or the 3D Freak show because after getting in at 7pm (when they start letting people in the haunted houses cause it gets dark) - we were done with 3 attractions and didn't have the energy or patience to try the other 2. You need to go there with the mindset that you will be standing for at least an hour if not more (given we didn't even go there closer to the holiday itself). I am guessing these lines will be longer as Halloween approaches. - Eating options once at the grounds Quite a decent selection at the 3 or so food stands. Fried Dough is the obvious hit with most. Hot Dogs. Burgers. French Fries. There is also a restaurant right before the entrance to the grounds. As is the norm at most places, outside food is not allowed. On a side note, I was really SHOCKED at the lack of security check in at the entrance. We were Not checked for anything on person. So I guess people can easily bring in food and such. At one point while standing in the line, I was so famished, I wish I had a granola bar on me :o) - Dance floor / bar Bang in the middle of the grounds is the eat / drink / have more fun section! That's where there is a decent sized dancefloor in an open tent with a DJ (I think so. I didn't join the teeny boppers shakin more than a leg or 2). The tunes were good and I almost did a Macarena - again - while standing in the line - when I heard the music coming from the tent. There is a big sign hanging at the front side of the tent which read - all in bold and in red - BEER. That's it. I could see where the kids were getting their booze from. - Value: General Admission ($35 a person), VIP / Fast pass ticket ($60). I believe this place is good for people who are totally into Halloween. Did the haunted houses and the scary creatures scare me? No. But do I get scared while watching scary movies or when someone comes from behind and try to scare me and such. Not really. But I had a blast standing in the endless lines people watching and seeing all the commotion around, which consumed most of our time there. Would I go there again? Maybe or Maybe Not. I seriously wish they reduce the ticket prices and do something about the lines. This can be a big hit if they do away with the VIP tickets and make it one common entrance at an affordable price for all. Standing in lines forever to get done and over with each attraction makes no sense to me at all. Would I recommend the place to family and friends? Only to some who I know will have a blast with the group they will be going and will be willing to make the drive all the way and will be ok with spending that kind of money. For now, 3.5 stars. (** Spoiler Alert ** stop reading if you have decided to go anyway **) The only thing that I enjoyed the most was the end of the Colony where it is pitch dark and you can not see anything and you will have no option but to either touch the walls and figure out where one ends and where is the next turn and lead someone who is holding on to you or be at the mercy of someone who you are holding on to ahead of you. I think I had the most fun in those 3 minutes when I had to find my way out of the Colony. Also, I felt really bad to see a woman crying hysterically and almost having a nervous breakdown when a Clown came from behind and scared her. I'm pissed I hardly ever leave 1 star reviews but this was awful. They had buy one get one . Every line was insane long. Even for bathrooms and food. Was there for 2 hours and only ended up doing one Haunt. There was only two people doing the scares inside. Complete rip off. Staff was clueless and didn't give a shit as they " had a long day and we're ready to go home". The cold didn't help. The manor was closed. The food lines were super long. The French fry stand is a lie. You'd think they have everything listed on the truck but nope. They only had normal frys and corn dogs. Nice to know once you wait over 40 mins in line to get let down. Another line I got turkey legs. Was over cooked and seemed the guy just made a price up $11. I asked other people I saw with them and they told me that paid $8 so not sure what scam is going on. On the bright side. We can come back and do the rest of the haunts. Seems like it's a good way to buy tickets. This weekend for the buy one get one and just come back when it's less crowded. There was nobody in the zombie paintball yet they were having people play? Not sure what that was about. Trash cans were over flowing. I attached pictures. Overall this place was a nightmare and not in a good way. Anyone who paid to park make sure you go to the ticket window and demand a refund for parking since you'll have to come back a second time to do the rest of be haunts. They will give you 5$ back. You guys really failed this year and I'm. Not happy. Saturday, October 24. Mid-60s. Chance of rain: 80%. 6 people traveling in a car meant for 5. Let's go to Spooky World! Drive about an hour north of the city(in the trunk of a station wagon if you're me and promise 5 seats to 6 people), pay $5 to park in a muddy field thing, pay $24.95 for admission to the park (or $59.99 for VIP access, no thanks), don't get any booze or food if you didn't pack cash! Take advantage of the free poncho offered if it's raining- I didn't, and my shoes are still wet, I think. Walk through some stupid haunted house type things, where random dudes jump out of coffins and sneak around corners to scare you. One of the attractions, 3D Freakshow (this is not your mom, btw), is all in 3D and has one of those spinning tunnel things at the end that makes you feel like you're walking on the ceiling. We probably waited 75 minutes to get into that one. Hop in the car and if you've got GPS or an iPhone, hit up the NH state liquor store on the way home- word is it's only 4 miles away. Fun, stupid, and now open an extra day (Nov 1)! Gotta love Halloween. read more

Spookyworld is a seasonal horror park. It's not a very good one, but it can still be fun. The haunted hayride was pretty fun and had great set design, one of the haunted houses was really well designed, but a lot of it is lackluster and kind of boring. Okay ... so Spookyworld costs about 1/2 what a ticket to Disneyworld does. And offers about 1/10th of the fun. But, given that we are in New England and not Florida or California ... its what we have to work with here. I will say that I think $25 would be a reasonable price to charge for what you get ... a night out of the house in a crowded theme park environment. However, it costs more than that for tickets unless you find one of their coupon things. The fact that they charge for parking is criminal. At $30+ per ticket, parking should be included ... especially considering you are out in the cornfield burbs of New Hampshire. As I recall, even parking at Gillete Stadium was free when they used to do it there. You will wait in line if you go during a peak weekend. But that is half the fun for me. I went on Halloween weekend a year ago and it sucked because we pretty much just walked up to the front of any line because nobody else was there. I actually like the anticipation of waiting in line and people watching. I'd never pay $30 extra to skip the lines. This is MUCH better than witches woods or some of the other pretender parks. The haunted houses look more professional and you can tell that the props and costumes are of a much higher quality. Sure, its the same old, same old themes ... phantom mine, 3-D disco club, psychiatric institution, creepy mansion. But I will agree that though the houses seem small, the twists and turns you will go through make the houses seem much longer. I hate the fact that they changed the hayride to a walking tour. I know that the hayrides did take a little longer to load and unload ... but there's just something about climbing onto that sputtering tractor and being driven through the woods. Its just not the same walking through a trail in the woods without a guide. Really takes the fun out of it and it is the only thing that falls short of Witches Woods. If they go back to the hayride (what Spookyworld became famous for) I will give it 4 or 5 stars. I also miss the larger museum with props from horror movies ... and the fact that they used to have an autograph section with people from horror movies, like Kane Hodder from a couple of the Friday the 13th movies and Gunnar Hanson who played Leatherface once or twice. Seeing grizzled stunt men hit on the girls and make fun of the guys is always worth the price of admission. Overall, it is overpriced (slightly) and the parking thing is criminal. You'll also spend money on carnival food there ... and they offer hot chocolate with peppermint schnappes and jello shots for sale at high prices. But overall, for a Halloween activity in New England, its not terrible. (Unless you are on a date and the bitch makes you pay for both tickets, which usually happens) Figure that picking a bag full of apples costs around $20 and doesn't take as long. If you haven't been, I recommend you try it. I'd do Spookyworld over Witches Woods anytime. But if you hate drunken teenagers screaming, being loud and getting into fights ... you might want to second guess going here with a family. read more

Honestly has gone pretty down hill. It use to be pretty scary with 5 rides plus attractions but sense covid it hasn't been the same. Barley 4 houses and not that many actors (I totally understand the lack of jobs due to covid) however, I've seen better from them. Really hope they can improve in the future. I really wish I'd read the full reviews before going here. Straight up, go to Screemfest at Canobie instead. Here you pay a lot of money, are corralled through the park, admonished by staff and everything was timed. I had thought it would be for crowd control but there weren't that many people there for a Saturday in October. while the actors were fun, the staff definitely do not trust the customers. Our daughter went with a group of friends last night. The smoking absolutely killed the entire experience for her. She said it could have been really fun but the abundance of people smoking and vaping really ruined the night and she has no desire to go back, which is sad since she generally loves these experiences. Strongly recommend that they have designed smoking areas and enforce it. Nobody should have to wait in long lines captive to second hand smoke. read more

Unfortunately I want here when it was raining. The place overall is a large plot of land that they decided to put a bunch of different warehouse like buildings. Many are uncovered, so keep that in mind if you head out in the rain. The best and worst part is the tractor trailer. As unfortunate it is to sit on wet hay, it was a nice attraction with many moving parts. With the wrist band were got, we all had one ride. The people in costumes will not touch you but can get very close. Worth going once but it's usually the same every year. read more

Didn't expect much besides being right on the fact that lines were going to be astronomically long. They were running a deal of BOGO for opening weekend so we decided to take advantage of the deal and head on up. Even the lines for parking went all the way down the road. If you hate waiting in lines, they have VIP ticket options that let you enter through a different line that's a fraction of the wait time. On the first haunted house it took about an hour and a half just to get in, but as the night went on the lines got shorter but that's not saying much with wait times still about 30-45 mins. I didn't think it was scary but still managed to enjoy myself with my friends getting scared by actors roaming around the property. There were 5 total attractions and I managed to get through everything but it was around 1am before finishing. Most of them were pretty good except for the one in the junkyard theme which was very disappointing. They have a beer tent and food vendors scattered in different areas with stuff like fried doe and burgers etc. Overall it was worth the $20(after BOGO)but for future visits I would seriously consider purchasing a VIP ticket if they were running BOGO deals. read more

Highly disappointed in Spookyworld, as it was not very spooky. Carnage was horrible, maybe 2 actors were in the entire attraction. No jump scares what so ever, likewise in 3D Dreamscape. As for the Brigham Manor, this attraction was okay. There were some good jump scares in the beginning, but they died down after while. The best attractions, were the hayride and the colony. The hayride through the beginning was scary. The ability for the actors to touch you and get very close to you increased the scariness, especially if they knew you were scared. The Colony was the only attraction that was filled with many actors who seemed passionate about scaring people. It seemed as though, this was the only fully staffed one. The characters walking around weren't all that scary either. They mostly just walked and looked at you weirdly. It was primarily the same 4 characters too so there wasn't much variety. Overall, the experience was not worth the $42.50 (online price) for having only 2 scary attractions, especially with general admission only allowing you to go in each haunt once. Both the ticket lines and the attraction lines moved fairly quickly, and my group of 4 was done with the haunts in a little under 2 hours. Without the ability to go in the haunts again, we did the go karts (highly worth the $8.50) and left. I will not be returning. You're better off going to Screamfest at Canobie for rides and 5 attractions for $35 (with the coupon) or Fright Kingdom in Nashua for $25 with 5 attractions and a specific "midway" for you to get scared by the characters walking around. read more

People seem to think this place is associated with the old Spookyworld in Berlin. It isn't. The trademark on the name expired and anyone is free to use it now. I'd never been before and went with two friends who had.I was thoroughly unimpressed for various reasons I'll bullet point. -The 5 dollar parking goes to "charity" though this charity has no stated name and is not represented on the website in any way. So I'm calling flat out lie. If not, someone reading this from Mel's should take the effort to better represent this charity. - The prices are insane. $60 for a VIP ticket, $35 GA. Not remotely worth it. - It's not scary. At all. The lines are so huge they send 10 people through at a time. The problem with this is the actor gets to scare a group once. If you're in the middle or back you get to wait in line to see people in front of you get the scare and walk by the guy. -No theme to anything. The haunted manor has a guy in overalls, a clown, a woman in a masquerade mask, a werewolf. It's a buffet of mix and match characters based on what costumes they bought and have to use. It's far too expensive, not scary and reeks of a money trap. The days of lawsuits and insurance liability has reduced most of these attractions to "look at me, I'm in a mask and breathing heavy while I stand here" instead of being able to chase people and care about the genuine scare. They've turned into more high budget theatrics and makeup and going over the top when places used to do more with less. The old Haunted Mansion at Victorian Park was a perfect example, smaller space, black cloaks,and genuine scares with somewhat thought out characters as opposed to blaring heavy metal and giant fog machines. Witch's Woods in Westford is as close as you'll find in the area to the old time scare houses. While it's not fantastic, it's better, cheaper, and scarier than this high tech mess. read more

Can Leatherface process my refund? I didn't get a spook, a shriek, a scare, or even a scream @ this place. No pants were soiled, and no smiles were had. The scariest thing about going to Spooky World, wuz getting stuck in the long lines behind all of the women with mullets in my hometown. :( I thought it was going be ko0l to go to Canobie @ the Spo0kiest time of the year, and get sp0oked out a bit, but that didn't happen. I went into the 5 Skull haunted house (5 being the scariest rating possible), and I felt like I was walking through a Spencer Gift store at the Mall. Bad costumes, a strobe light, and a cassette tape playing "scary sounds" doesn't = spooky. Out of the 15 rides that were open, 12 of them are lame. They were also selling "Monster Protection Necklaces" to keep the actors away from you if you're easily frightened. I don't know if I was accidentally wearing one of these, b-kuz the actors would run away as I approached them. Unless your biggest fear is walking up on a guy wearing makeup, eating a turkey leg on his cigarette break, you shouldn't invest in one. The haunted museum is a display of masks, jack-o-lanternzZz and a few autographz. I would like to see Spooky World's PayPal statement, b-kuz some1 has been doing some HEAVY eBay-ing. :( Not very spooky, but at least I didn't get sexually assaulted like my friend Cat at Witch's Woods. Meh. We bought into the hype of the commercials all over the radio. Let me state that we only did the hay ride and one haunted house. The hay ride was less than stellar. I don't know, it was long, and lots of things to see but it wasn't very scary. The actors hopped on the hayride and could actually touch you but I guess I just expected more? I think part of the reason it wasn't very scary is because you aren't facing the exhibits and beside the occasional banging on the trailer pulling is it was really meh. We only did one haunted house where they gave you a glow stick to go through that was okay but again I think the whole thing is played out, over crowded and just rushed to be blunt. Maybe let people sit and have their feet hanging off and facing things, there is one at witches woods in nashoba valley that was better. Other than that, a drinking area and a restaurant close by. Lots of food stands and bathrooms so there's that ! read more

Boo!! (not to scare, but as in disappointment) so it's back and it was oddly empty, boring, and just not too scary. then again, it was opening night. you got your typical scary chicks with blood stains walking around to heighten the effect, and of course you got your frankie, as in frankenstein, walking around happily taking pictures with you. the haunted attractions were ok. the "monsters" pop out here and there and gets up on all over your grill, but that's about it. they must've done something right because i did let out a couple of annoying, ear splitting screams. if the tickets were cheaper- i'd give it an extra start but for $25/adult- it's def. not worth it. however, check your local craigslist listing and you can find cheaper tickets. i saw a listing for a 2-1 special. avoid going on a friday night- FILLED WITH SCREAMING TEENY BOPPERS and HS students, in HUGE GROUPS- but if you're into that, have fun! :) read more

This year the Spooky World attraction has taken a dive for the worst. The State Police were harassing everyone driving to the event which slowed down traffic to a crawl. Not fun if you are the one driving. We waited in the mud for 90 minutes in two lines to pass through the same attraction we saw last year but in more disrepair. They tried to charge us $20 for parking. Don't fall for it as you can park for $10 at another lot. read more

Here's my gripe with Spooky World: It's not that good any more. There, I said it. Man, I remember way back in the day when they were in Berlin, MA and it was awwwwweeeeeeessooooommmmmmmeeeeeee. Maybe it was because I was in 6th grade? Could be. But it's probably more to do with they used to have this hayride that kicked gluteus maximus. They had all these little vignettes that the ride would stop for like Julia Child getting tanked off cooking sherry and cutting her hand off, or a dude with a chainsaw attacking a chick in a shower, or some weird scene from the Toxic Avenger/Troma. Well now it's "6 haunted houses" that are really just 5 haunted houses because two of them are conjoined (oh they're now zombies instead of crazed hill billies? Well I can't really tell because they're still shouting non-sense and it's dark) and of the 5 haunted houses there are maybe 3 original ideas that are not executed particularly well. You have to wait forever and a day to get into a haunted house, but since they just stream people in you will probably miss 3/4 of the scares because they are resetting from the group in front of you passing by. At least, that's what happened to me. Totally worth $30+....naaaahhhhhhtttttttt. SW is just resting on its brand recognition now which is unfortunate. I love Halloween, particularly for crap like this, but if you're gonna ask top dollar for your attraction AND be located in the middle of no where you better deliver and it just doesn't. read more

We flew in from Los Angeles to check out New England haunts and escape rooms for the weekend. This was the second haunt we hit up tonight after landing in Boston. It was a lot of fun! We bought the VIP which we didn't really need since it was fairly slow (I'm guessing due to the 40 degree weather) but it was fun to go through the mazes multiple times. It's a really fun event and I actually got scared and startled a handful of times. (I'm really really hard to "get" because I used to work as a monster in a large haunt.) so Kudos to the actors and designers for creating such a great event. We started with the 3D Clowns. Really fun! The clowns were great! The 3D effect was cool. Second we did the hayride. It's more interactive than some of the others as the actors jump up on the wagon and get in your face. The tree house village was really impressive. The spiders were awesome! Third we went through the manor. The manor was my favorite! I loved the effects, decor, actors and use of sound. Really well done. Fourth was the trail in the woods (not sure the name). It was a good use of space and the theme was strong throughout. Fifth for us was Carnage and that was a heck of an impressive set. There were some great scares. It has a claustrophobic moment, but it's not that bad and you can bypass it if you really need to. Then we did Manor and Clowns again!!! We ended the night with hot cider. There were no long lines for food and the general admission seemed like a reasonable wait. We were never pushed through in big groups or conga lines...all were well purged. I think the VIP is a good deal if you wanna do batting cages and cars too or you really hate lines or want to do things multiple times, otherwise general admission is probably fine for most people. Been awhile since I've gone to spooky world they have changed locations over the yes but I can honestly say this was a good time they have bout 4 haunted houses the mansion was good , close quarter scary pop outs and cemetery was creepy, a nice bon fire in middle ground is nice to warm up to, the actors are good they really egg on the people who are scared by really scaring them and following them , I will return As a FYI buy via to ship the very long lines read more

I got tickets from WXLO for 1/2 off. And I am so glad I didn't pay full price. I had to pay $10 to park and wait in line for an hour to get into one house. Not to mention it was cold out. I would go back not worth the $30 you would have to pay. read more
