Haunted Overload is the least wheelchair accessible/friendly haunt I've ever been to, and I've been through a LOT of haunts across America as a guest and as a scare actor. For full-time manual wheelchair users, forget about going to this haunt. Even power wheelchair users will have difficulty. The enormous displays like the giant wooden pumpkin head, tree, dragon, and skeleton (my favorite) were very cool, along with all of the many real carved lit pumpkins and haunted house set, but that's where the impressiveness ends. We got there at our 8pm arrival time and it took us an entire hour to get through the worst terrain to wheel through, which included a very steep hill and even two stairs JUST to get up to the people scanning tickets, and they offered no way to avoid this. There was very clearly an easier and much quicker way to bypass all of that for those who cannot wait in that line, but they didn't help us or invite us to do that; instead, they disclosed to us that the terrain would be challenging but possible. Two of the scare actors helped us out of character when my wheels got stuck and also when I needed to exit the line to go the bathroom. Keep in mind, the last chance to go to the bathroom is after they scan the tickets and before you enter below the dragon head; they don't make this very clear, and you have to exit the line to do so. Then it was 30 minutes through a, what felt like, random array of props and scare actors. It all melded together, and I had to use my wheelchair as a walker for the vast majority of the walkthrough. Additionally, most of the scare actors did the bare minimum in engaging with us, it was very quiet for a haunt, and the pathways are mostly wood chips, uphill and downhill, and very tight spaces and turns to wheel through in the set pieces. I have a narrow wheelchair, and it barely squeezed through, so a standard or large wheelchair will very likely not be able to fit in some doorways. We complained to multiple employees about our experience throughout it, and they said they will talk to the owner about it, but that didn't help us for this one-time experience since we traveled from across the US for this. They mentioned twice to me after it was much too late that I should have reached out to them ahead of time for unknown accommodations. They could have easily helped us when we were there, as clearly we needed it, and I mentioned my multiple disabilities that made waiting in line difficult, and they said there was no other way and that I'll be fine. But the path to the porta potties could have been the short cut we took if we were permitted to do so. We're very disappointed in our experience here. We went to Fright Kingdom, Spooky World, and Haunted Overload, and if you get the opportunity, Fright Kingdom is 100% the ONLY one of these three that's worth visiting (and it's very much worth every penny). Even if I wasn't an ambulatory wheelchair user, I did not get scared, and the system in place to get to the beginning of the actual trail is poorly executed. read more

I would love to give this place infinite stars. All the love and glowing reviews in the world if possible. I spotted this haunt last year during Halloween time and it has never left my mind. I flew from LA to Boston and drove to NH. Directions were easy to follow. There is plenty of parking near the farmstand and they have extended parking. Tickets: You have 2 options. Buy in person or buy online. You get a $5 discount online for the main event. They also have a day event for $12. I went around noon and parked. I paid for the day event and walked in. It took about an hour to trek through it all. Amazing detail and workmanship. Beautifully decorated. When I finished I went to buy the night one. My slot was originally for 645 but for unforeseen circumstances I arrived at 930. Now the only downfall is the line to get in. It took an hour and a half to finish the line and get to the start. The upside is that it is completely decorated along the way and scare actors are interacting with everyone. I got to the front and they have people enter by group and try to keep it that way through out the maze. As much as I loved the day event I loved the night even more. I did not want to leave. The scare actors did an amazing job. Scared me about 3-4 times. I have a high tolerance btw. The sets and props looked even spookier at night. Honestly my favorite haunt in the US. The best haunted attraction I have ever been to. As a haunt enthusiast, we traveled from South Carolina to New Hampshire to visit the much acclaimed haunted overload. Tickets were sold out, but we called and were advised that if we arrived shortly before they opened there would be a few tickets available for sale. Arriving early is the key here because not only can you purchase limited tickets if they are sold out online you also are the first to enter the haunted attraction and you avoid the long lines and wait. There is plenty of parking and if you don't mind paying $10 you can park very close to the start of the line. Haunted overload is a sensory experience. The attention to detail is impressive. I do not recall seeing any animatronics. The entire attraction is filled with live actors and very detailed props and sets. If you have ever been to Universal Studios, Halloween horror nights , Haunted Overload is much much better! The fact that all the money raised goes to charity really elevates the overall experience . You can tell the folks behind haunted overload are incredibly passionate about what they do. Keep in mind that the number one rule is no photos or videos once you enter the actual haunt. You can take as many photos and videos as you want leading up to entering the haunt but once you are inside, you are not allowed to. We saw them kick out several parties for violating this rule . Also, keep in mind that this attraction is 100% outdoors. Thus, plan accordingly and check the weather. At the end of the haunt is a photo op, and also a Gift Shop. There are porta potties and they also sell food and snacks. Haunted overload was absolutely worth traveling to, and it is one that I would attend again. 10 stars!! Do not miss Haunted Overload. This is the best haunted walk I have ever been too! Yes the line to get in is kinda long but that is all decorated and they scare you while you wait as well! Absolutely phenomenal! We went here last weekend for the very first time and it was great! We waited an hour and a half from the start of the line all the way through to where they check your tickets, and honestly there was so much to look at that it didn't feel like we waited that long at all! The amount of time and effort that is put into this, the elaborateness of all of it is just outstanding. The headless horseman that was roaming the farm while we were waiting was creepy and amazing! My only real complaint was the inconsiderate UNH college kids that were so obnoxious and rude the entire time we were there, in line, in the actual haunt, they were just dicks which made it slightly unenjoyable, but by no fault of Haunted Overload. read more

Hands down one of the best haunts I've ever been to. I waited 45-60 minutes to get in, but I get it because timed tickets are there to meter the situation from getting even worse. If you waited, it's because you know it's popular, and it's good. As a Californian, I have easily waited 3x the time for lesser haunts that I've paid 6x the price for. The wait itself was a haunt! It was fantastic! The set design and quality/care easily outstrips places like Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Los Angeles. The lighting, effects, path design, and the feats of engineering to build things like the giant jack o'lantern and reaper head are absolutely mindblowing. No corporate-backed haunt can possibly even approach. I've been telling all my horror fan friends in CA about it because Haunted Overload is the one to beat. My feelings about Haunted Overload haven't changed- it remains my favorite haunt in New England. But I did feel I should come back and update my review from eight years ago, because we visited the haunt during the day this year and were blown away by the amount of work and the creativity and artistry that go into building the haunt. No matter how many times I've walked through at night, I've always felt like I'm probably missing things and seeing it during the day while being able to take my time and really look around was a whole new experience! The haunts are fine and the set up is obviously amazingly done. But like a review before me states, I am not sure why I have to wait in line for an hour when my tickets have a time slot. And it's so crowded people behind us caught up, and we caught up to the people ahead of us, completely ruins the experience. The haunt was maybe 10 minutes long, not worth nearly $70 tickets imo. If ten stars were available, I would rate this a ten plus plus. We went six years ago and thought it was amazing. Couldn't imagine this being better but it was. The full moon and clouds added to the experience. This is definitely one of our Halloween favorite places to go. The props are elaborate and well done. Hard to believe this resides next to an Apple orchard. No amateur stuff here this is definitely a professional set up even better than Hollywood. They have a couple of different experiences depending on the day and time. They are opened Thursday through Sunday in October and Halloween night which is entirely in the dark. Halloween enthusiasts, prepare to fall in love. The visual setup here is absolutely stunning. I cannot imagine the amount of hard work that went into creating all of the amazing structures here. The parking crew does their job quickly and efficiently, so parking is pretty painless. The Demeritt Hill farm store is right by the parking area, so this is your chance to grab a bite or a drink for your wait in line. The line is a bit lengthy, but they keep you entertained with scares. Even when the actors aren't around, the structures are impressive enough on their own to make you feel like you're in spooky territory! During the day they offer a "day haunt" where you can walk through and revel in the magnificent architectures in full color and sunlight. This version of the tour is fright-free; no actors, or sounds, just the enjoyment of the grounds. The main event at night is extremely visually stimulating. The ambiance is truly spooky and not cheesy. While we will always have a great time here, they do need to work out the kinks of timing. It gets pretty crowded, and sometimes a train of people will build up where only the group in front gets scared. If you try to wait a bit, the group behind you catches up. It takes away from the experience a bit so hopefully this improves in the future. Nonetheless, this place is super cool. Haunted Overload is entirely worth the visit! read more

I knew Haunted Overload was great when I went back in 2018 but I never was compelled to write a review until I visited a competitors haunt. If you were to ask my wife she would say "I am a grown man who was scared out of my wits for the first 15 minutes." Honestly I was out of breath and it was pretty intense. The props/scenes are jaw dropping and visual works of art. The amount of actors they have is impressive, no shortage of scares here. The parking and lines were not big issues when we went and even if they were the attraction would have made up for it. Noooooo!!!! They were SOO good, seriously this place was the best ever and this year (10/19/19) they changed the way they let people in and it sucked!!!!! We were in a steady stream of people and so you got to see the people in front of you get scared and who the f wants to pay for that privilege? Not me. This was our 4th year and clearly 3 good years turned into too much success and it lost its touch. Which is such a shame, I was so let down and so disappointed. Still am actually. This was our go-to, tell everyone about it haunted attraction to hit. I would wait all year just to go back here and we were stoked. The props are amazing and they would space out the people so that everyone got to be "alone" in a way and it was hands down the absolute best haunt around. They actors were on point before and now they have too much of nothing in too many spots......I don't know why they changed it this year, maybe too many time slots or too many people, many they got money hungry but whatever the case I wouldn't go here now. I won't recommend it anyone any longer and sadly I won't go back again either :,( which definitely pains me to say because this was the best. If the people of haunted overload read this review-go back to what you had!!! That's what got you popular in the first place. Now you're doing it just like every other lame attraction around NH. Wow, SO worth the drive! First year and we plan to come back. Did some research-this is in the top 13 haunts in the country! Apparently in past years, people can wait a long time in line, even with the "reserved" ticket slot time you pay to get in. This year we parked and got right in (likely due to reduced capacity with Covid I would assume). Just the first fifteen minutes of the haunt (with people jumping out) were the waiting line! I had no idea! This is just to get to the "actual" even scarier haunt that's about 30 minutes through depending how fast you walk (that's where you show your tickets). It's all technically an outside guided trail, but with many walkthroughs of small and big houses, figurines, and unbelievable decor/lighting/actors that is just mind-boggling. I was taken aback by the detail. They have daytime "walkthroughs" so you can go back and see everything, which I now understand why. The production for this is seriously just worth every penny-at one point I looked up and there was a glowing Jack O' Lantern that must have been well over 40 feet tall! At the end there is a small stand for cider doughnuts-YUM! You must wear masks, to be expected. No actors/actresses touched us physically. One small detail for seizure precaution-there were several areas with very intense strobe lights in the haunt and no mention beforehand-just a heads up. Have a blast! We had SO much fun! read more

Our parking slot time was at 830. We arrived at 820 and made it in line by 830. We stood in line for 2 hrs and 10 minutes before we arrived at the haunted house. We then went through the haunted attraction at 10:30 and where done at 10:50 for a total of 20 minutes. The actors/actresses were great. The work they put into the place was great. You can tell they put so much effort into this event, there is a lot of detail in every aspect of the operation, I love the horror genre and this exceeded every expectation I had. One of the best Halloween experiences of my life. I am a bit of an enthusiast for these types of things. The art and creativity of Haunted Overload is second to none. From the otherworldly light displays, breathtaking designs, and of course the tremendous characters and costumes, it really is a haunted labyrinth experience like no other. The line to actually begin the trail is long, you'll be waiting for at least a half hour during the peak of the night. But even waiting, you'll have a full interactive experience of dazzling lights, pumpkin carvings, and spooky characters. The trail itself is a slow burn. Whereas most haunted houses, hayrides, and mazes provide lightning fast jumps and scares, Haunted Overload is methodical and paced. You'll still get the usual jumps, but it's more about building anticipation and the unseen where the real frights occur. Characters moving just out of eyesight. Someone following slowly and silently behind you for several minutes. Not knowing whether that tall figure standing in your path is real or a dummy. Haunted Overload plays with your psyche like a Hitchcock movie. A wonderful experience and well worth the drive in to New Hampshire. This will surely be a staple each Fall from here on out. read more

Epic. Crowded. Unreal. Haunted houses and trails have popped up like whack-a-moles in recent years as businesses try to cash in on the scareconomy. Within the crowded field, HO stands out as one of the most epic, over-the-top, and well-travelled of options. Just walking through the main ticket house you will be greeted by the largest, most incredible Castle Greyskull and PumpkinMan you have ever seen. Once inside, whatever your phobia is: from scary mini-clowns on tricycles to masked chainsaw psychos to graveyards and ghosts HO's got your one-stop fix for jumps and jitters covered. Truly a tour-de-force +1 hour walk thorugh varying woods and scenes. Just when you think you are through the worst of it, another pitch black scene shows up. Better still, paths and scenes change from year-year, allowing a great repeatability for those who did not get enough terrification in one year. Logistically, while the reservation system has you pick a specific day/time, that's largely for crowd control; you can ultimately show up whenever you want, so long as you're willing to wait the longer line to get in. That wait is also made a bit less frustrating by all the amazing costumed volunteer actors who file up and down the line keeping you on your toes and firing up the chainsaws behind unsuspecting patrons intoxicated with with Face-In-Phone syndrome. All in all, HO's been doing this long and large enough to justify it's place as one of the, if not the preeiminent, haunted house destination in the northeast. read more

We flew in from Los Angeles for the weekend to see New England haunts. We landed this afternoon and headed directly to Overload. This is an impressive haunt! The giant set pieces are awesome. (I mean I literally stood with my jaw dropped in awe.) The themes were a little hard to follow, but everyone was working really hard. I loved the portal at the beginning. I was a little confused when we completed the portal and started into the first section a man stopped us and snapped at us "Who told you you could go" or something along those lines and it felt like a manager scolding us for doing what we were told. It's the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars actually. It ruined the effect of the tunnel and made us feel like we had done something wrong. It really started the entire trail out on the wrong foot after just recovering from spending 30 minutes lost because the Yelp directions led us to the wrong location. The girl with the Snuggles the cat helped turn things around while chatting as she purged the line. We ended up having fun! read more

Showed up at 820 for an 830 ticket reservation. I then got yelled at by a super trooper parking attendant with a yellow vest and glow stick for not parking where he wanted me to park. We waited in line for an hour and 40 minutes before we even hit the main entrance. I mean yeah, the decorations were cool but the guys running through the crowds with chainsaws gets old after the second pass. The only entertainment we had during the wait was harassing our good friend Jack via prank call and text message that he was too scared to show up. They said the entire walk would take 30 minutes but we set a record at 20 because we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Rumor has it you can hear Jack's voice saying " I'm not a little bitch!" went there oct 12,2023 for tamed down night when actors dont chase you. The music/soundscape they have is WAY TOO LOUD, so loud it is distorting even with earplugs on. No need to have it so loud, people will go deaf in this society if companies like this abuse volume and I am a seasoned record producer and musician with perfect pitch. They should relise there a re a lot of little kids that don't react well to noise. next thing the Einsteins that run this dont realize that if you take tickets one third of the way through the trail instead of the beginning it snarles up the line creating HUGE unnecessary waits huge crowds snarled up for 45 minutes which could easily be avoided if two people took tickets in the beginning of the attraction NOT the 2nd third of it which is what theses geniuses did. Some signs would be nice too from parking lot as to where to walk! The large props are impressive but the rest of the walk was lame,burlap bags hanging a lot to depict bodies is something any small town community haunt could budget and come up with! read more

I absolutely LOVE everything about this haunt and location. You can go during the day (with no jump scares or theatrics) and walk quietly through, appreciating all the sculptures, houses, and designs that are put together. I really had no Idea what to expect. 2 of my friends basically convinced me to go. It was more of a reunion for us as we only get a chance to get together once or twice a year. We had a few drinks , had our DD drive us here, and waited.... for 30-40 minutes.. But characters would meander through the line kinda making it feel as if it's part of the show. The sculptures are amazing.. the characters are amazing.. I still can't figure out where some of them were waiting.. and other times you'll see something convinced it's a dummy and then it comes to life on you and you jump...LOL All in good fun.. read more

The haunted mile walk is insanely crazy! I am super impressed with all the craftsmanship and detail put into so many of these structures! I went during the day and I can't even imagine how creepy this would be at night with added characters who scare you. I wouldn't necessarily say that the afternoon Walk is for all ages, there are quite a few bloodied bodies with eyes missing scattered throughout which can be pretty graphic for a real little kids. I guess if you were vigilant you could probably shield them from it during the walk but my eight-year-old who typically likes creepy things was A little disturbed. I do wish they had more to do, if you don't want to pay $17 per kid for the Enchanted wagon ride that has trick-or-treating and a story told by Mother Goose you can do the $3 ride to the pumpkin patch and back, and of course apple/pumpkin picking, but that's about it besides a small bounce house that can get hectic if there's a lot of people there. I wasn't there for PYO stuff just the other activities so an hour drive I wish I had picked out somewhere else to go afterward to make it worth it. Plan people!
