Don't expect service unless you're a hungover hipster starting to day drink. Bad bad bad service, terrible coffee, and forgettable food.

The cocktails are creative, and good. The food is hit or miss. The cheese bread with salted guava butter is fucking genius and makes me want to cum in my pants just thinking about it. Don't know if this is based on a traditional south american recipe or an original, but I would eagerly french kiss whoever birthed this lovely, sexy, little snack. But, there are other things that just miss the mark. For example, a clams and chorizo I had on my last visit. The top 1/4 inch of the broth was straight grease. For real. I decided to just let go and dug in, which was a mistake that I paid for gravely in the form of horrible heartburn that kept me up all night long, in real, serious pain. I have myself to blame really, I could have opted to send it back... Anyhoo, some of the food has a special spark, and some of it is somewhere in the middle (the "chupes" are sometimes hearty and deliscious and other times greasy and bland)....but the decor is very cozy, and the service has always been warm in my experience. Follow-up from my August review. In the throws of Blizzard "yet to be named" we found ourselves astride the welcoming bar stools in the candle lit cavern of "Nights and Weekends". Challenging our barkeep to make me a spicy adaptation of Kentucky's Mint Julep. Bam! Nailed it! That accompanied by the 7 layer carnitas and burger for the chick made the glow of the candles complete. If you haven't darkened the doors of this irreverent, try to dislike us, cavern of delights of the "spiritual" kind...you've missed out of a high point of Williamsburg. And YES...those are vinyl records spinning behind the bar with the cracking and scratches of vintage. read more

Nights and Weekends denotes a fun time but for my birthday this year it was anything but ! My birthday was way back in May, when the weather was getting nice enough to finally ditch our coats. My friends and I spontaneously chose an address to a bar and hoped in a cab, making Nights and Weekends our lucky catch. Reviewing the menu was rough for me because there were only spicy choices, which I'm anything but fond of. Everyone else at the table enjoyed spicy food, so they were less reluctant to try something. We eventually ordered the fish tacos, the mofongo, and we attempted to order the Cubano, which they proceeded to say "were all out of PRE PACKAGED SANDWICHES" -- GROSSSSSS! Everything was literally disgusting. There's not enough spice in the world, or even enough drinks, which were also awful, to hide the taste of this food. read more

I have walked by this place a million times but have never gone in. We went here late night on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy but not cramped. The waitress was really friendly and the service was fast. The nachos are awesome! Ceviche didn't have much shrimp but the avocado in it was still tasty. There are many things working for Nights and Weekends--the location, the decor, the vibe, and the varied cocktail menu. What didn't work for me were the portion sizes--my fish tacos were smaller than expected for the price, and dry. But the drinks were strong, and our waitress was friendlier than other reviewers have experienced--she joked around with us and checked in on us many times. My friend and I sat and chatted for awhile and never felt rushed. I would come again and order more to fill me up, or would be content only having drinks in the cute setting. read more

Good food and drinks, but it's more of a place for bar snacks than dinner. The place is small and on a Friday night, the noise level and crowding is pretty intense. I felt sorry for the hubs, who spent half of the time with a guy standing right next to our table, with the dude's derriere right at face level. Not sexy. Foodwise, the mariquitas pie is where it's at it. I also really enjoyed the guava butter that comes with the rolls. I agree that the entrance is a little unclear, but I guess that's to be expected with a triangular building. I really enjoyed the snacks, but I'm not really sure if I'd go back. read more

We hit up this place after Berry Park, before continuing on to my all time favorite, Manhattan Inn. This place gives such a good first impression with it's industrial yet intimate interior, but then you try the drinks. And they are TERRIBLE. First the bartender made me a spicy mescal original that was so spicy I continued even take a second sip. I then tried to return to beer only to find that the beers on tap were pretty bad too. Delicious! N&W is a small space, but they were able to accommodate our group of 7 with no wait on a Sunday. Their Avocado Toast (seven grain bread, crushed avocado, olive oil and chili) was a surprising winner. Made on hearty bread, with some nice spice, it was surprisingly flavorful and filling. The (very sweet) waitress brought us out a complimentary plate of the fish tacos (crispy mahi with mango-habanero salsa and caper aoli). This is my friends "favorite meal in the entire world". The mahi was in fact crispy, and the entire dish flavorful. For my main course I ordered the Choripan (Chorizo sliders with Chimichurri and red onion, served on house-made cheese bread). It had bright bright flavors that really packed a punch. The acid really cut through some of the heaviness of the dish. I found the accompanying plantain chips a bit bland and lacking seasoning, but they were more neutral than bad. One negative, and some may offend some more than others, one of the ladies in our party found a hair in her sandwich. The staff was very embarrassed and apologetic, and in addition to the sandwich being comped, they gave her a drink for free as well. They offered a new sandwich, but she had already made a good dent and was full. The wait staff is incredibly nice and helpful. read more

Came here last week and loved everything about this place. The burger was bomb and our waitress was great. It's a small, intimate place with a cool vibe and great bar. Great place to come on a date, wouldn't come here with a big party because it's just too small for that. Worth hitting up! read more

It's been a while since I've visited Nights and Weekends, but I think it says something that I live right in the neighborhood and haven't been compelled to try it again. I was so psyched to go initially after reading several great reviews and we were finally able to get a table without a long wait on a weeknight. I had the Mi Corazon cocktail to begin which sounded fantastic, but was disappointing- the spiciness of the pepper infusion completely overwhelmed the creamy, sweetness of the coconut milk. For food we had the homemade cheese bread, which we were hoping would be a tasty version of pao de queijo, but did not meet expectations (go to Beco for the real deal!). We also had the plantain chips (very small portion and not too exciting) and the Choripan (my Argentinian dining partner declared this undeserving of the name). Overall, everything was just subpar- maybe my expectations were too high based on reviews. But also, the most mentioned item in Yelp reviews is avocado toast?? Let's consider the ingredients...avocado, toast. Is there any way that could not be delicious? I see that they have changed their menu since I was there last and I'm willing to give Nights and Weekends another shot, hopefully with more satisfactory results. read more

The cheese bread is out of this world and with the guava butter! Yummmmm. I am totally against spicy food so I couldn't eat too much of one thing but wow what flavors. Nights and Weekends wasn't crowded. I ordered the burger. It was $10 and didn't come with a side. It was a decent burger. My friend ordered the fish tacos which looked pretty good. The reason I'm giving it three stars is because all the doors were open (which is nice), but its right next to a bus stop. Not so nice. And my friends fish tacos came out about 10 minutes before my burger and I was told that is just the way it was. The cooks just put food out. So because my friend is polite and wants to wait for me to get my food, his food got cold. Bad service. Although the waitresses seemed nice. read more

Stopped in for drinks and dinner before catching a show at Warsaw. LOVE that they have mezcal on the menu and the salt and ash was awesome! I was so excited for the cheese bread, which unfortunately fell a bit short. The fish tacos and mushroom/queso tacos made up for it though, very good with the house hot sauce! I used to like this place, but last night I went here with 3 of my girlfriends for cocktails and we were all extremely disappointed. I am a total lightweight when it comes to drinking so I can say for certain that my 2 overly sweet $10 cocktails had almost no alcohol in them. I went to this place for the first time because I was waiting for a table at Five Leaves - its not my favorite place - but it does have good drinks - Cash only, which is arguably a bit inconvenient. Went here last night for some food and drinks with a friend. Overall great experience night bartenders and one guy who I think was training or a bar back too. Super friendly awesome cocktails the margarita of the day was a frozen hot chocolate, yum! Only giving it four stars because the food took a long time but it was AMAZING. i made this yelp account just to post this review i had THAT much fun with my girlfriend anyways I went in last monday for a drink with a friend. it was mellow and quiet then a large group of skater boys came in and got a little rowdy. At first i was looking at my friend like ''girl it's about time to leave'' but the bartenders Bobby & idapool?(i'm sorry?!) kept my friend and I so entertained we ended up staying for a few more rounds, made some new friends and ended up getting the delicious Choripan. Been twice now and both times have been "meh" First time we went in just to check it out and have some drinks and the drink menu had some interesting choices on it but it felt like once the waitress realized we only were having drinks she lost interest in waiting on our table. Odd for a Tuesday night as there wasn't much going on, combined with it taking forever to get a beer kinda left me unimpressed. Second time more or less the same thing. drink orders were very very very slow in coming yet when we were sitting there with empty drinks getting her attention was next to impossible. Not sure what the deal is with this place, maybe me and my girl being mid 30s and being average looking don't meet the hip look they are going for in there but we love to toss back drinks while we geek out over our tech jobs and I'd have thought a place like this would embrace people like us if only for our wallets. The same owners as Five Leaves located across the street. This is not just the bar to hangout in while you wait for your table at Five leaves. It's the perfect spot for meeting just those few close friends to get your evening started are maybe just to pop in for a quick cocktail on the way home. Nice little spot on the boarder of greenpoint and williamsburg. Their menu isnt deep but enough to have you come back more than once for the food. Shrimp app was delicious. Their mushroom tacos are tasty and so are the fish tacos, crispy. Service can get delayed during the week if the spot gets full but staff is always friendly and is great on weekends when better staffed. They do have outdoor seating which is key for brunch when the weather is right. read more

I have been coming here for ages but in the past six months much more frequently. I always have a great time here, the food is delicious, cocktails are awesome and the staff are probably the friendliest people in all of Brooklyn.
