This is a very long overdue review given that my graduation photoshoot with Ethan happened over a month ago, and even though the photoshoot happened a decent amount of time ago, I still wanted to sing my praises about my experience working with Ethan. Ethan bought a lot of energy into the photoshoot and created such a fun and welcoming space to be in. In particular, he was great at advising me on how to pose, especially when I wasn't sure how to pose in order to make ourselves look our best. I also came into the shoot with a couple of different poses (inspired by other people's graduation photoshoots) that I wanted to replicate, and he did an amazing job helping me replicate those poses. The final photos, especially with edits, turned out absolutely stunning. Throughout the entire process, he and his crew knew how to make me (and my friends) look absolutely freaking hot in these photos. Although this review is long overdue it's never too late. A year ago, I booked Ethan and his team for a full day wedding video coverage. The way we communicated was thru messaging and emails. It took some time for me to receive a response. Which was okay... knowing that he is a busy guy. However, what I received at the end was horrible. Morning ceremony was filmed fine ( since Ethan himself was there). Unfortunately, when it came to our reception at night many moments weren't even captured. Reason being the camera was just sitting on a pedestal filming the stage. Even my friends and family member said they could've done a better job. Real rating: 4.5 stars We booked Ethan and his photography, videography, and photobooth crew for a wedding. Then COVID happened and things changed. We pushed our wedding date up, and Ethan and his crew accommodated. However, communication was sketchy. We communicated mostly through email, but sometimes replies would take weeks or would not come at all. That's kind of troubling since photography and videography are not things you want to worry about when the wedding date approaches. However Ethan and his crew came through. They arrived on time and were fully professional. I'm not sure if Ethan has worked at the venue we booked before, but he had very creative ideas for poses and sceneries. He made use of the decorations and props; i.e. there was a billiard table in the gentlemen's suite, so he had the idea to mimic the wedding date with the ball numbers. He also had attention to details with where the bride's train should be, where to hold the bouquets, how many steps to take to the right to be symmetrical, how many do-overs we need since we shook hands and bowed to each other instead of hugging and kissing, etc. All in all, we are very happy with choosing Niis Photography. Pictures are great, videos are great (and cringey because of me), and the videos came about a month after our wedding date, as stated. Apart from the lack of communication during some times, Ethan and his crew did an amazing job. We would hire again and and recommend to others. Photobooth information: Not an issue, but a heads-up. Wedding day review: Ethan and team were AMAZING! We received so many compliments from guests about how hard the photographers were working to capture every moment of our day. Ethan, Walter, and Peter were really easy to work with, especially Ethan! He's such a personable individual and makes you feel comfortable to have your picture taken all day! Notes: - Tea ceremony: They team showed up early (8:30 AM) to capture shots of the family gathering at the tea ceremony. They helped the parents to position tea ceremony items in a photogenic way. It was so helpful because Ethan and Peter were fluent in Vietnamese and could instruct our parents to do certain things. Even when the team was taking a break to eat, Ethan quickly jumped back into photographer mode as he saw a photo opp surface. - Church: Prior to the ceremony, Walter noticed there was really good lighting outside of the church and he got a bunch of photos of us with family members. Walter was really nice about making sure that we had enough time to take photos before the ceremony. During the church ceremony, we were mic'd up so that everything could be recorded. Ethan was super helpful in telling me when my hair needed to be fixed during the ceremony. Afterwards, when it was time for photos Ethan was SOO coordinated in getting all of the appropriate family shots. He always made sure to get my side, then my husband's side, and then a combined shot with both sides. We never even thought about things like that but Ethan was on top of it. - Post-ceremony photos: Ethan recommended Chapman University for our post-ceremony photos and it was such a beautiful campus. He knew a bunch of spots that we could visit and he made sure that we were standing under the shade so we wouldn't burn up. We took Ethan and Peter to Bruxie to have a quick snack with us after the photoshoot, and even during this break Ethan was taking pictures of me and my shoes. It was really impressive! - Reception: If you are on the fence for the thank you photos, get over the fence and DO IT. It is SO worth it. The prints were available IMMEDIATELY after the photos were taken. Ethan was able to incorporate a customized logo into our thank you cards and they were placed in really nice frames for everyone to take home. This was such a huge hit and we were so proud to be able to tell guests to grab their photos asap. Peter was so helpful in letting us know when we were off center, as well as letting guests know when they needed to adjust (like putting their cell phone away or standing up straight). Peter was also amazing with kids, he was able to get the attention of kids by breaking out Baby Shark and any other cartoon songs that could help the kids focus. Walter was also really sweet in telling me how cool my wedding dress (ao dai) was! I felt such a confidence boost after that, it really meant a lot to me. Ethan and team were amazing. We already have copies of the thank you card photos, and we're soo excited to see the finished result for the rest of our wedding day photos and video. I knew he was the one for us. His style was so us. Young & fun. We did our engagement photoshoot at San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Beach on November 3rd 2017. The photos came out so beautiful. We had four outfits change. Because I'm extra. We had a causal outfit, dressy outfit and ethnic outfits. My husband is Filipino so he had 2 different design Barongs. I am Vietnamese and Indian and I wore my Aodai traditional dress & Indian Sari dress. We want to incorporate our ethnicity in our engagement photoshoot. My mom & sisters helped us during our photoshoot. I needed help my outfits change. My sisters did my hair & makeup for each outfits change. So blessed to have my mom & sisters there to help me. Ethan photos were gorgeous. He told us to do all the poses and he knows exactly what angels to take the perfect photos. We used Niis Photography for our wedding photography and cinematography. We were looking for a combine photo & video for our wedding. Plus the prices for everything was a great deal. Especially for how our photos & video look. He even was 2 months late giving us the raw pictures. Since he's not returning our calls, we couldn't tell him which pictures to edit & photoshop. He has fallen short on every one of his promises. He turned out to be unreliable & unorganized at the weddin too. He ended up bringing only one videographer even though he promised two. Ethan's photography and prices were great. A lot of people have great experiences with Ethan. I just only wished we had the opportunity to have the same experience. Only if he followed through. We first met up with him so we can get more information. There were a few things from the first meeting that gave us some hesitation, but we decided to go with him for his photography and his prices. Come on, we're Asian and we love a good deal. That might have been our down fall. He showed up half an hour late and ill prepared. We're the type of people that looks at everything. Being half an hour late and not prepared means the person is not professional. Looking back, I wished we trusted our gut, but being Asian got the better of us. Now, we're paying the price for it. We were scheduled to meet up to give him our deposit and sign some contracts. My husband messaged him to confirm our appointment. He responds by saying that he had to CANCEL. CANCELLED because he had an emergency. My husband asked him what the emergency was. Ethan replied by saying that his second photographer isn't available on that day and had to BACK OUT COMPLETELY. It might even be a lie to cover something else, but the fact of matter is, he went against his word. It's great that he backed out before we gave him the deposit. It would have been BETTER if he mentioned that his second photographer was unavailable the moment we gave him the date, so we didn't have to waste all this time. Now we're 3 months away from our wedding and we're looking for another photographer. Completely, utterly unprofessional. If you go with him, just be okay with everything being by his word. And no, we wouldn't recommend him to even people I don't like, obviously. UPDATE: This is in response to the reply below since I cannot reply to its inaccuracy. WOW. He was late because of traffic is understandable, but we took notice that he wasn't on time. We did expect an immediate confirmation when he agreed to take pictures of our wedding. In the emails he said he was available. When we met up, he said his second photographer and he was available. Not once did he say he have to check with his second photographer. He did not take a few days. He took a month to cancel. Ethan did try to contact us, even through yelp AND I replied. I have my emails to prove it.
