Well, that is NOT the case with Baked by Emily Rose. Not only did we love the cake, but several of our guests said that it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. Also, the cakes were gorgeous. Emily used real white roses to garnish the top. It looked amazing. My only regret is that we were unable to take pictures. He made every step in the process incredibly easy and efficient, which is exactly what a stressed-out bride needs. Well, upon pick up I opened the box to inspect. It all looked good but the decorating could have been a little more. It was half sheet cake with lots of space to work with. Anyways, when it came time to cut the cake for service, the cake crumbled under the weight of the knife. I was overseeing the process and the cake cutter was trying his best to achieve a decent portion intact, but with litte success. I immediately tasted the cake before it went my 40 person party. It was moist and flavorful but it crumbled to the touch. I couldn't put my finger on what was causing it, I felt like something was maybe missing from the recipe. It was later in the day when it came to me the answer to my problem. The cake it self had been made fresh, then frozen, thawed out, frosted and decorated. The freezing of the cake made it crumble at time of service. Very disappointing. I didn't last minute order this cake, so why they used frozen cake for my order I cannot understand. Convenience for them I guess, but I was not informed that previously frozen cake would be an option. Each and every piece of cake just crumbled on the plate and presentation was horrible. We were stuck with an inferior cake. I will not be returning to this bakery.

The apricot crumb square's crumbs were soggy; and the filling, disgustingly sweet. The creme brûlée was mediocre. On the counter was a free sample of a pecan-chocolate ring. There was nothing nearby it to serve yourself with, so anybody wanting a taste would have to pick it up with his or her bare hands. I had to tell the counter person to put out a serving utensil for sanitary reasons. She thanked me for my "good idea". She also told me that she is the daughter of the owner and that the place opened in April. I was the only person in the store. Before I left, I asked the young woman for utensils to eat my desserts with. She gave me a fork, whose tines she touched with her bare hands. I had to tell her that she should not do that. I hope this place gets inspected soon by The Suffolk County Department of Health Service. The bakery would definitely FAIL the critical element of "Good Retail Practices" . I will never visit The Copiague Bakery again. If I never go back there, it would be too soon! If I could give them zero stars, I would!

Individual pound cakes , tutu fruity, walnut, date and plain. 7.99 for the plain one I purchased. It is soft and fresh as is the cake slice of German Black Forest. There also was a table of coconut cookies in plastic containers, a coffee pot on the counter and a few small tables to sit at. They use nondegradable styrofoam containers to throw away in the garbage can , to serve , instead of paper plates or cardboard ones.

This is a small and quaint bakery so it is a take out place just FYI. They have long hours usually 6:30 AM to 7pm on weekdays. If you are looking for something in particular, I would definitely call ahead! One time I wanted a cheesecake and I was able to place an order ahead of time so it would be ready!
