Branched off from Francesco's of Hicksville, Francesco's on Broadway in North Massapequa is one of the few Italian Bakeries in the area that once had many. When others left the long strip of stores from Sunrise Highway up to Boundary Avenue, Francesco's opened two stores in different spots on Broadway, closed the other and kept this one active. Sevaroli's is long gone. Oreste Bakery is long gone. For a few years there is also Bestever at the far south end of Broadway, but its not as traditional Italian. Francesco's is here If you want good selections of fresh made Italian pastry, cannoli, just baked cakes, bread, biscotti, and butter cookies. This is a friendly small town local shop with local people working. Stopped in seeing lights on, decorating being done inside and outside on the windows, baking in the back etc... and the most Gingerbread Houses ever seen, then realized they were being courteous when I asked if they were closing soon. It was well after and they were happy to pause from their busy pace going on and get me a few things to go. Nice Christmas cookies looked and tasted great. read more

ZERO STARS!!! I don't know what the world is coming too when a bakery lies about having a particular cake and then just gives you whatever they have. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL? And it wasn't a mistake because the cake said happy birthday on it. ( they fully are aware of what they did) We had an unfortunate incident Monday where my sister took my mother the birthday girl to the bakery in Massapequa to chose her cake and the staff lied to my mother and gave her a strawberry banana and chocolate cake. ( barf) They Just blatantly lied about having a specific cake and we didn't find out until after the cake candles were blown out and the cake was sliced open. How disappointing. Jackie (I believe that was her name) came over and suggested we try the cannoli cream with fresh strawberries. It was amazing! She was great to work with, super friendly, and super helpful. I reached out asking for an explanation as to why the cake/cupcake I received did not look professionally made, even though I was charged an extra price for the design. The bakery items are OK at the Massapequa location. However, I can't get past the look of the store and the filth which leads me to not wanting to buy anything from this shop. There are huge dust clumps in the ceiling from the light fixtures, fans and AC. The ceiling is dirty and I feel like it would just fall over the food. Walls are dirty as well with worn/chipped paint/plaster. The woman that works there was not the nicest person and seems to work alone the couple of times I was in there. I needed a custom birthday cake and they were so helpful and accommodating. Also for a 9 inch custom cake, it only costs $40. A generic cake costs around $20. The last 2 x I bought from them I was disappointed. I've tried both locations and they both stink. I tried again one last time and this time the stuff was uneatable. There cookies were stale and had a terrible after taste. The jelly in the center was just a dot. Not spread on the cookie. I also tried pastries and they tasted sour. The young man said "we're out of cannolis". How is an Long Island Italian bakery out of cannoli? I briefly thought of running to Uncle Giovanni's but I was having people over and really didn't want to take the time. I should have listened to my gut. As I glanced around I realized the cases looked sort of empty. I did find one tray with a few Napoleons on it, I ordered them. I served them for dessert, thank goodness my guests were gracious. Do not hire this bakery!!! I hired this bakery to do my wedding cake with delivery before 11am day of the event. I also called the day before and confirmed my order, delivery team and location. Wedding luncheon was from 12-3:30. The venue called the bakery no less than 3 times looking for the cake being told it's on the way. The cake was finally delivered after 2 pm. I called the bakery 5 times since my event with no call back to explain what happened. Guests said the cake was dry & each layer did not have the mouse we requested but had buttercream instead. Franchesco's almost ruined my wedding reception. They were supossed to deliver the cake to the reception in the early morning. When I got to my reception, I was told the cake never came. Just left Francesco's for a wedding cake tasting for my fiancé and I. I am dairy free and expected to just watch my fiancé taste cakes as many places can't accommodate my dietary requirements. Jamie helped us out and not only did she provide me a whole assortment of dairy free cakes and toppings samples, but she also provided amazing dairy free whipped cream. She was such a pleasure to work with. We had all our questions answered and left with a great experience. With COVID, many wedding "experiences" have been alerted and even eliminated. I am a Hispanic woman and the lady whom I think is the manager is a white woman, both times that I went into that store she proceeds to look at me and roll her eyes than ignore that I am there and goes ahead and helps the customer after me. I had to inconvenience my brother and sister in law to go personally to shop which was few blocks away. When they arrived they look at them as if they have 10 heads. This is now called Francesco's Bakery. I've visited here quite a few times under the new name. The quality of baked goods is not the same. The baked products are not always fresh. Crumb cake I purchased recently tasted like it was on the shelf for days. And the assorted cookies also did not taste fresh baked. Their bread is good, but they do run out quickly. The Francesco's on Boundary that recently closed was much better quality. They should have kept that store open. read more

I am very disappointed in this location. I ordered a strawberry cake for my wife's birthday and picked it up the next day. So when we sat down to enjoy the cake it was very hard and tasted very old. Here's the crazy thing, the frosting and fruit were delicious and fresh. So it seems that they put fresh frosting and fruit on an old cake. I'm disappointed in the location. Best best BEST bakery!! Francesco's has never failed to deliver with any of their baked goods. From italian cookies to the bread, whatever you choose you can't go wrong. My family frequents the bakery every Sunday for their brick oven bread (sliced), or every once in a while change it up with the semolina sesame. My mom loves the cheese danish, my brother will sell them out of rainbow cookies, and I can't get enough of the Italian lemon drop cookies. And of course I can't complete this review without talking about their cannoli cake! Or I guess the cannoli filling in general. I've ordered countless amounts of cannoli cakes from Francesco's and each one surpasses the next. The cannoli filling is perfection, and the cake is moist and fluffy. This is our go to bakery. Every holiday we stop in to get pastries and cake. I feel lucky that we live in this area. I'm addicted to their lobster pastry (I think that's the name of them). They are. In July 2019 (long before COVID-19), my mom placed an order for over $400 worth of baked goods for a dessert table for my bridal shower. The bakery asked for a $240 deposit, which I think is steep as it is, considering every single wedding vendor deposit was 10-15% vs. over 50% of the total bill over a year in advance, but my mom paid it. My shower was cancelled due to COVID-19 and the bakery will not refund us the money. With over a month's notice, the bakery has done nothing but take our order down on paper - they had not ordered the supplies. While of course, small businesses are hurting during this time, so are people who's events are cancelled. It's really telling to see which vendors want to keep their client's money for services they have not provided. I was so looking forward to trying out this bakery after they reopened from the fire. The bakery itself is very pretty, but I purchased what I was told was an 8" red velvet Valentine's Day cake (pretty certain it was Black Forest) and 4 cupcakes that cost me $47. The cake tasted old and was ridiculously sweet. Not to mention the girl working the counter didn't know how to use the rope tie machine, both boxes opened up on me when I grabbed them by the string. We had our cake tasting and were scheduled to get our cake from the Hicksville location. But as you already know due to that horrible fire, they made our cake here. They were so professional and kept me updated to make sure our cake was going to be delicious AND on time. Which it was! We had a 3 layer cake with the simple(included design), buttercream outside, fresh strawberries with napoleon cream, napoleon cream with a strawberry jelly and chocolate cake with a raspberry coolie. Our florist added on the real flowers and we had our own cake topper. OMG, the cake was good! Just like I remember from the cake tasting. The buttercream was delicious and fresh and the layers were all great. I have to praise them after that tragic fire,they still held on strong and made our wonderful cake. Staff is so nice also. I ordered a lemon cake thin layer with the whip cream icing as they told me it would be less sweet. Well first off, it did not have lemon jelly filling that you might expect. Instead the sponge it's self had a lemon flavor which made the whole thing taste artificial like fruit loops. Secondly, the layers were thiccck, which I guess is a good thing since it's more cake, but the cake was not good. Lastly, the icing was ridiculously sweet. I still feel sick to my stomach and I think I might have diabetes now. If your the type of person that does not like pastries and cakes being so sweet, avoid this place because it will rise your blood pressure and make your stomach turn inside out. Poor execution of a lemon cake, for the price I feel bad that my sister ordered this for my birthday. Place has gone downhill.. This was our main bakery since we moved to the island years ago. Our last visit will be the last. The young boy behind the counter took 40 MINUTES to service us. He took our entire order without writing or packing anything and at the end, did NOT REMEMBER A THING we said!! We had to repeat it all when he decided to grab a box! He did not know the flavors for most of the products (neither did the rest of the staff) so he carried my desserts back and forth to the baker in the back for an answer. THEN he proceeded to the scale and took out EVERY SINGLE item to weigh them. It's so disgusting to handle food this way, even with gloves that did not fit him properly. He destroyed everything. Closed one box tab into a cake as well. When we got home, everything was a mess. The strawberry shortcake tasted "off" and the center was falling apart so we tossed it. Italian bread was STALE. What a shame as it was my fathers 98th birthday. The cakes/tarts/brownie were tasteless. Such a disappointment, we ended up tossing everything. read more

Just had a wedding this past weekend and used this bakery as it was suggested by the venue . We had a horrible experience with this place and if you're considering I recommend you go somewhere else. For context, a basic cake from this bakery is included in the price of the event with the venue, but we chose to have a taller cake with custom elements and therefore paid for all additional details, which were the height and the sugar flowers we wanted on the cake. It was near impossible to get in touch with anyone before the wedding day, even when it came to trying to schedule a time to pay the balance of the cake! Whenever we would try to set up a time to drop off the cake topper or make final payments we would be told to leave a message or that we would receive a call back, only to have to keep calling after no response. When we finally managed to get a response to drop off payment, it was only because we asked the venue to get in touch with them. At the end of the day our topper was never put on the cake and the design was worlds away from what we requested. It was a simple white cake with sugar flowers on it, but the flowers were smaller and a different color than what we ordered. It really felt like no effort was put into Our requests. When we called multiple times they were not honest & kept telling us the cake would arrive in 20 minutes & was on its way. I recently got married at a venue, where I received the option of using Francesco's services for an included cake or a small up charge for different designs of flavors. I arrived for my cake tasting with my fiancé and all cake tasting options I didn't love. I got the included package design and a chocolate cake which didn't taste great, but was the "best" out of all of them. When my big day came, the cake was designed as expected, and looked beautiful, only because my florist decorated it. But the cake tasted awful. It almost tasted like it was frozen and defrosted. I was embarrassed my guests received this texture, gritty and lacking flavor cake. I guess you get what you pay for. For brides that are getting married where Francesco's includes a cake- if you enjoy cake at your wedding- I suggest going elsewhere.
