This is arguably the best Japanese restaurant in town. The sushi is fresh and wonderful - you can watch the chefs work. The menu is quite comprehensive although it does lend itself to American tastes. There is Japanese beer on tap and portions are substantive. Staff are friendly, especially the hostess. Nikko Japanese Restaurant opened today! The serve an impressive selection of Sushi from $4.50 to $16.00 or so. Their classic rolls are quite affordable and the specialty rolls are much larger to compensate for the price. Sushi was great. We clearly enjoy the rolls,but the fish was very fresh and clean tasting. the Tri-Cities and Crispy Fantasy, rolls were fun and recommended. The classics were all tasty as well. They also serve Teriyaki, Hibachi (but I think its teppanyaki), tempura, and udon, all Japanese classics. I am looking forward to trying their entire menu. Finally. Staff were very friendly. I ordered Chicken Hibachi for lunch (take out). When I arrived to work I opened the soup cup and found a fly in my soup! This was very disgusting. Also, food was not ready when I arrived and am very disappointed with today's service. Will not be coming back anymore. read more

We decided to try Nikko's tonight. I was craving Japanese food and hadn't tried here yet. They are very good! I got the vegetable tempura (which wasn't greasy at all and was cooked perfectly) and vegetable hibachi. They accommodated my request of no mushrooms, which was great. The dipping sauce (I believe they call it Yum Yum Sauce at Fujiyama's) is very tasty and the fried rice that comes with it is good. Hubby had calamari for an appetizer and said they knew how to do it 'right'. For entree he had scorpion king sushi roll. He said it is the best sushi he's ever had (and he's had sushi at a lot of different places). Waitstaff were friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of refills. Ambiance was nice. I went with a friend a couple nights ago. This was my second visit. She had the volcano roll and I had the angel roll. The angel roll was perfect! Very fresh, no fishy flavor. I loved the crunch inside as well as the crunch from the asparagus. I will be ordering this one again! Only downfall, they couldn't get her card to work but couldn't communicate with us why. I don't pretend to know who these guys are. But the whole experience came off as a family operation. The kind where the mom checks in on you, the dad takes pride in his sushi prep, and the kid daughter takes your order. They all played into what I would expect from that sort of experience. Dispute the seemingly clueless 19 yr old daughter waitress, we felt like they were genuinely excited for our business and our experience meant a lot to them. I may have had to ask for extra napkins and a split plate 4 times, but I left happy. Crazy how a family operation can do that to you. read more

Truly amazing. Great customer service and wonderful happy hour from 3 PM until 5 PM. My daughter and I visit Nikko weekly and we love their sushi, miso soup, edamame, Japanese soda, and beer. My favorite is to order the Nikko Hako pressed roll. It's so fresh! My daughter's favorite role is the Philadelphia roll with fresh salmon instead of smoked. We weren't expecting much, and our expectations were accurate. The decor is nice but the sushi/sashimi was just ok, the rice was cold and slightly hard, and the service was a little off, likely due to a language barrier. Their draft beer menu lists Coors, Blue Moon, Budweiser and and "IPA". When we asked what the IPA was, the server said it was a beer. We asked what brand of IPA it was and she said that it was the name of the beer. This went on for quite awhile with her insisting that IPA was the name of the beer so we left our booth to look at the name of the beer on the tap for ourselves. Not a big deal, obviously, but she could have saved some time and frustration by asking another staff person for clarification instead of arguing with us. read more

Loved it! Had the surf & turf and a Sapporo on draft. Wife got some sushi and roommate got the fried rice. Tried everything and it was great! Lobster was separated from the shell with sesame seeds and a soy sauce (?) drizzle. Steak was ordered medium rare and it was juicy and tender, cut up into little chunks. Now the main plate we got was great, the serves 2 one, as was the appetizer, and for once a miso soup that wasn't near plain water as many places have in Tri Cities. The problem was the first sushi order of the Tuna belly (Toro is it called?) 3 of the 4 pieces had BONE in it, and the cooks said 'no it was cartilage not bone." Uh something that stabs you in the mouth is BONE. So we examined the other pieces, after the impaling, and sure enough 3 more bone pieces. BONE. Should cartilage be ok either though? Anyone who has deboned a fish knows bone from cartilage! Plus since when is there cartilage in the belly of a fish cut? This was the only failing, is we should have been comped that dish and were not. So they do not stand by their customers when the chefs screw up. (Went there on 4/28, 6:30 pm) 4 out of 5 for the server being very prompt, and friendly, but sad that she did not comp and should have told the manager. read more

Tried this place only one time and never bothered to go back in again. The quality of the service you get from this place is mainly depended on the tip amount, right, more for better service. They didn't even help us to pack our to go after our tip amount isn't what they expected. Also, soda refill never exist after the first serve, not even ice water refill for my wife. The dishes look nice, but the taste isn't really that attractive. The portion of the sushi is small and the fish wasn't even defrosted completely. And dish prices are way above average compare to other sushi places in Tri-Cities, especially when you compare the portion size they serve. Personally, I will never go back in again but it may be worth to spend some extra money if you prefer environment over food quality and service. read more

This was a great place to go and have one of my favorite foods (sushi) however I just experienced horrible service that I know would make the sushi tast mediocre. I walked and waited to be seated area for about a minute and thirty seconds. There was 2 floaters on the floor that did not agnolige me. There was a family of 3 that had walked in after I did and the server walked right passed me and sat down the family of 3 witch was very rude, I thought that maybe someone was right behind him so I stood up there for 10 extra seconds and even after the server still didn't even attempt to help me, so I walked out and decided to never eat at Nikkos again and I will never recommend this place to any of my friends. My first time here I ordered the vegetable tempura and was not thrilled with what came out. I didn't know what I was ordering so it was my fault. The Vegetable Tempura is battered deep fried vegetables. The vegetables came out huge!! Like dinosaurs! Everyone else who ordered at my table had good food.
