My daughter and I were waiting for her friends at the mall of America, we decided to get some boba tea. This cafe is located on the first floor on the north side of the mall entrance. There's 2 kiosk to order otherwise a staff member can help take your order at the cash register. I stopped by to grab a brown sugar latte before going to see a movie. The barista was nice enough to confirm I wanted a coffee drink which is often confused with the Tiger Latte (which is actually what I usually get). Wasn't busy when I went so I was able to get my drink within a few minutes and be on my way. The drink was good, the coffee was a bit strong but for sure kept me up during the movie. I had to make a stop at the Southdale mall and couldn't resist getting a boba milk tea from Niko Niko. The service area was easy to get to (I suggest parking near the Cycle Gear store and entering through the mall doors to the left) and ordering was done with the staff versus some kiosk options I have seen at other stations. I ordered a 16oz Tiger latte with whole milk, brown sugar drizzle and 50% (half) sugar. It was so creamy, dreamy, and just a balanced sweetness I prefer. I loved the boba brown sugar pearls! The staff was nice, and the station looked clean. I must go back because they also have a variety of smoothies, fruit teas and of course more milk tea options. read more

My daughter can't pass up a boba tea place so had to stop. She got a passionfruit tea. I wasn't going to get anything but saw they had a vanilla chai milk tea. I can't pass up a chai tea. I added in the brown sugar pearls. I could have done without those but the milk tea was wonderful. The service was fast and the straws are great for sucking up the boba pearls. Also, to update from a 16 oz to a 24 oz was only $0.86. Worth it! The little shop is located across from Banana Republic and has a few tables within the hallway. read more

I absolutely love this place! I had a cold drink that was mango flavored with strawberry popping boba, and it was amazing! I could taste each and every flavor in it. Not to mention, it also looked good. It's brightly colored and looks scrumptious, which it is. My friend got the dragonfruit one, and the color blend was so cool. The only reason I'm giving this 4 starts is because of the service. The people there are not welcoming, and almost look like they don't want to be there. The machine to order is also kinda weird. I ordered my regular drink with the strawberry popping boba, and they didn't put it. I'm pretty sure it was a machine error. Thankfully, they were at least nice enough to re-add it. They don't do the loyalty punch cards anymore but you can sign up for their new rewards program online (similar to Starbucks). I've been to this location 2 times now and both times were very disappointing. The first visit I asked about caffeine free options and the worker told me there were none. Well I know that's not true cause I can see the fruit smoothies from here. Whatever I ordered was disappointing. Yesterday I decided to try them again. Same question, but this time the guy tells me they do have a couple options for me. I decide to go with the taro (my favorite from every boba shop in town) and he warned me that it was thick. My first bubble tea stateside happened at this Chatime. It's at Southdale Center on the main level. I never got to enjoy bubble tea during my time in Minnesota. There wasn't a surge of real bubble tea places back then like there are these days, no matter where you go. I was thrilled when I saw this Chatime while checking out what has changed at the mall. It works the same way as Chatime up here, except that there isn't a rewards system. I ordered a large lychee black tea. I got coconut jelly as a topping. I got no sugar and less ice, which works for me. It didn't take long for my drink to be made. A competent, tattooed woman made my drink. I was happy and thanked her. I paid using cash. You can also pay with credit cards. The straws are labelled in the little bin on the counter. Toppings or no toppings? That's the important question. I like that the straws are purple at Chatime. Good choice! Yes, I love purple. I drank my tea walking around the mall, driving in my car, and finished it back at the hotel. It was yummy! The tea was refreshing and coconut jelly makes me happy. I usually only get the Thai tea when I'm at Chatime. 1. Because I am THE biggest Thai tea fan and 2. Because Chatime's Thai tea is probably the best in MN. And since I'm a huge Thai tea fan, I have high standards too. I love how you can pick your "sugar level" at Chatime, unlike many bubble tea places. I think 30% is perfect but to each their own. I've also tried their smoothies (Thai tea duh), but it's not as strong of a flavor as their iced version straight up. It's usually busy here (line), but it's not terrible and goes by somewhat quick. read more

My sister and I love Chatime, it's close by, super quick, very convenient, and most importantly, yummy! If too much boba was a possibility, we've been visiting Chatime a few times too many this quarantine using their curbside pick up. The staff has always been so kind and helpful, I've yet to have a bad experience. You're able to choose your tea's sweetness percentage, ice level, and toppings. My favorite is the chai milk tea and my sister's is currently the coconut. If sustainability is important to you, they are very accommodating (during non-pandemic days) with reusable bottles & straws. If you become a faithful follower of Chatime, make sure to grab one of their punch cards because free boba is the best type of boba :). read more

They've gotten rid of some of their offerings since my last review. No more adzuki beans. Their menu has gone more mainstream and less allergy-friendly. I'm pretty unclear as to what is really in their "milk" tea. From the answers I've received when I asked, it's a creamer powder that doesn't have much actual dairy in it. I never could get a straight, understandable answer. It would be really nice if the owners would list ingredients and have allergen disclaimers on their website for those of us who need to know for sure what we are ingesting. If you don't need to worry about limiting dairy intake or other allergens, then you'll have a world of choices at Chatime's locations. At least they do continue to offer the ability to choose the sweetness level. read more

Went here before a movie and ordered the lavender milk tea with pearls, 50% sugar. Initial taste of milk with lovely lavender aftertaste. They didn't scrimp on the pearls either! 50% sugar was still pretty sweet, so would probably go for 30% next time. Friendly staff, short line, fast service. read more

This Chatime located on the first floor of the mall gave me a much better experience than the one upstairs. I'm married to the black sesame latte at Boba Guys in California, so I was surprised to see this drink on the menu which is not a typical drink that other boba shops would have. I adjusted the level of sweetness to 50% and it really impressed me. It can't be compared to the one at Boba Guys but it was pretty good. I loved the grainy taste of black sesame paste and the creaminess of the drink. Give this drink a try if you want something different than a traditional black/green/oolong/taro milk tea. read more

They have a great variety of teas and flavors, plus I really love how innovative they are, they are coming up with new flavors and different drinks all the time. I'll start by saying that I'm thankful for this Chatime location. I was looking for a place near Edina to get some bubble tea with my sister, and if this place hadn't opened, I would have had to drive to either Minneapolis or the Mall of America -- not terribly far, but far enough that it's out of the way. Like the previous reviewer, Ashley C., said, this place is not the easiest to find, and, annoyingly, there's no nearby bathroom. There is, however, some nice seating areas across the order counter to sit and enjoy your drink. I found the service to be wonderful. The person who took our order patiently helped us choose the ideal sugar level to include in our drink, and she even let us sample our preferred drink to ensure that it was the one we wanted. She was also forthright about the fact that all the "milk" teas are non-dairy based, which greatly expanded the menu options from which my sister and I could order. Let's just say that you probably wouldn't get such service at Starbucks. The major downside is the cost. Is bubble tea this expensive across the country? If so, ouch! It was reasonable for my sister and me because we got the monthly 2 drinks for $6.99 special (well, +$1 for the tapioca pearls). 3.5 stars overall read more

My review for this location is pretty much the same as my review for the Mall of America location - all of the drinks are the same and their staff are also very nice! One of the employees who worked at MOA is now the manager at this location so it's nice to see a familiar face :) I'll be honest and say I had a bit of a hard time finding this place so I had to use the directory. I'm not a fan of where it's located inside. There's a huge pillar blocking the front of it so it's easy to miss if you're just walking by. Also, it's a small space between the pillar and the counter so it might get cramped if the mall gets busy. However, the manager told me that there isn't as much foot traffic as MOA so that might not be a problem. Unlike the MOA location, where there's space to the side of the counter to sit down, this one just has a counter that you walk up to and no places to sit. I don't frequent Southdale Center often, only when there are pre-screenings for movies. However, I appreciate that it is now an option to get bubble tea in the Edina area whenever I am here. read more

Can't really go wrong here. The young lady was patient with me not being ready to order, answered my questions, and said yes to everything I asked for. Lol. I guess as a customer when someone tells you, "no, we don't do that," or, "I'm sorry we don't," I'd feel a bit taken back- generally speaking. Well, the lady took my order, made my drinks and remembered to make one 50% less sweet than the regular. With that said, you get to say how sweet you want your drink. Also, they serve a fairly priced menu for the sizes you pay for. Since I haven't had a traditional bubble tea in months, I ordered a large taro smoothie with bubbles. Twice, Twice the girl making my regular lychee smoothie, screwed up. First time, she made mango inst of lychee. When I said I asked for lychee, she remade and forgot the pearls I PAID FOR! I noticed the Edina location is not as busy as the MOA location. Don't order Taro Milk Tea from Chatime again. The chatime taro milk tea taste terrible. You can taste the old powders and it look very cloudy. I think this flavor is a big failure in a franchise business. As for the service, I asked for very less ice but the lady fill the ice more than half of the large cup. Less ice in this location is a lot of ice. read more

Clean, well organized, excellent choices for all types of Bubble Tea lickers. Would recommend the Hawaiian Fruit Tea w/ popping Bobbes. Excellent taste combination and value for the money.
