Once upon a time... I had completely written off Italian food as "meh!... it's just the same ole same... noodles and tomato sauce and a bunch o' cheese"... and then We went to Matteo's out in Howard Beach, NY and I will forever remember that as the place that brought back my love for Italian food... why this story?... Cuz Niko's has done something similar for me and Greek food! I have been in NYC for the past 30+ yrs. I first discovered gyros as a teenager and I used to LOVE them! As I got older my palate changed and I lost the craving for that "reconstituted meat" (that ALL gyros were made of as far as I was concerned). ~a week ago, I watched a youTube video titled "Is this the Best Gyro in NYC?" and decided to follow his advise. I never saw "Pancetta" at a Greek restaurant (Italian, sure)... and am I glad I tried it! I ordered a pork "geero" and a pancetta "geero".... I will be 100% honest and tell you that I was expecting the "reconstituted" stuff... absolutely not that! Actual slices of meat in that pork gyro. LOVED it... only 2nd to that Pancetta one! I am grateful to "Tony's Famous Finds" (YouTube) for this great find. This will be my go to for gyros from now on! Bonus info: I ordered through their website and your order gets directed to a company called 88restaurants.com. With tip and all it was still cheaper than using DoorDash and having their dashpass.

I would ignore all negative reviews. This place is insanely good. Very authentic Greek food and super tasty. I got the halloumi pita and I was so impressed by how packed with flavor it was. I definitely recommend getting everything with tzasikiiiii it was out of this world. Service was super friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I saw people sitting down and having the platters and I would definitely go back and have one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can not recommend this place enough would definitely order from here.

No because this place EATSSS. One platter will send you home with plenty of leftovers. The food is so good and I love when the pork gyro is crispy on the outside. Like yessssss I liveeee. I've come here twice and I will continue to do so any time I want Greek food. Never change queen. Also our server was so fierce and kind. He was super attentive and I just lived for him. Queen if you're reading this I hope they give you a raise

By far the best greek food in all of astoria. Serving sizes are huge, their grilled meats are always delicious, food comes out super quick. Everything we've tried on the menu has been incredible. The service is amazing and the menu is very affordable. It's locally owned and by two brothers who are lovely. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is great, there's a nice enclosed outdoor section with heat lamps so you can sit out there even in winter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!!

$10 gyro for lunch? Can't beat it. The pork was so flavorful and has that perfect crispy crunch. Delish! Super friendly staff! Great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute interior and lovely patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 10/10 would recommend.

Tried the kovosouvli chicken plate and it was the perfect size for 2 people! It was fun to get it to go and picnic at Astoria park. We also tried a couple of Greek beers which paired well with the food. The beer was light and it was a nice vibe for a picnic!

Came here with friends for lunch one day and the food was superb! The restaurant isn't too big, but I think there was seating outside as well. Service is friendly and prompt, prices and portions are also reasonable. Combo of 3 Spreads: tzatziki, niko's sauce, and tyrokafteri sauce. I can't remember which one was my favorite but they were all pretty good and came with the fluffiest pita breads. We pretty much dipped everything into these spreads, they were nice portions too Pork Platter: the pieces of pork were so crispy but still soo juicy! Almost like crispy pork belly. I would say the portion is pretty generous as our party of five were left feeling satiated, but that might also be we went crazy on the pita bread and dip. Okay maybe it was the carbs that left us stuffed haha Skepasti: I think this was the name of what we ordered, it looked like a quesadilla with the meat sandwiched into pita bread and lots of cheese. Super cheesy and soft, it's yummy

Niko's Souvlaki restaurant offers an amazing dining experience with beautiful decor, though my friends and I chose to sit outside to enjoy the lovely day. Post-gym and starving, we ordered Greek fries as an appetizer, followed by the Small Grill Platter and Chicken Skepasti as our main courses. The portions were impressive, though I wouldn't order the Greek fries again since the Skepasti included a generous serving of fries. The Greek fries are more on the softer side, well-seasoned but not crunchy, the Skepasti was a flavor bomb with perfectly paired ingredients. The Small Grill Platter, very thoroughly seasoned, it was delicious with a variety of meats on a bed of soft pita bread. The staff was sweet and patient, making the overall experience at Niko's Souvlaki amazing. Definitely recommend. (Small update: I had the leftovers the next day and it was just amazing)

After a nice day walking in Astoria park, decided to walk in to this restaurant to have some food. I ordered their cucumber salad, with veggie appetizer, and two chicken skewers. The food was okay. I thought the veggie appetizer was probably the best dish I ordered. The chicken was dry. I took 3 stars off because the service was pretty bad. We sat down and it took them a long time to take our order. The server did not introduce themselves. They seemed focused on their phones rather than taking care of their customers. The food did come out quickly. However, they gave me the wrong sauce. I asked for Tzataski sauce and they gave me Niko's sauce instead.

It was okay, on par with the other Greek eateries in Astoria and I've eaten in all of them. A bit more expensive than most.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

We started with an assortment of traditional spreads: taramosalata, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, skordalia, and melitzanosalata, all served with warm, pillowy pita. Each one was vibrant and flavorful -- perfect for sharing (or not). Then came the feast: marinated and grilled squid, swordfish steak, red snapper, lamb chops, crispy potatoes, and more sides than we could reasonably justify ordering... but absolutely did anyway. Our waiter thoughtfully asked if we had any allergies. By the end of the meal -- slightly comatose, blissfully full, and having completely lost track of time -- we realized the only thing we might be allergic to is work.
