A tres leches that won't disappoint. I only go here for their tres leches...it is so fire. The smooth milk pairs well with the density of the cake. Could be a bomb horchata drink lol. As much as I like to give my support to small Hispanic business my experience was stressfulI. I'm given this business a two stars only for the cake. Initially I was informed that they will prefer two days advance to order a "tres leches cake" which is understandable, and I was appreciative they have taken the order. I was to pick up the cake at 11:30 the next day. I went to pick up the cake at 11:40 and the place was closed with a sign stating they were returning at 2:30 p.m!! I frantically called their business number, and no one was responding to my calls. Then on facebook I was able send word through messenger. I needed the cake for the lunch hour. Later I realized I had received a text from the bakery requesting for me to pick up the cake at 10 a.m. because the lady had forgotten she had an appointment. Even if I had seen the text earlier, work constrains would have not permitted for me to pick up the cake sooner than the accorded time of 11:30. I returned at 2:30 for the cake and had to wait 35 minutes for the lady to arrive, this to me showed no respect for my time or patronage. I got the cake, and asked for 5 to-go plastic containers, since other co-workers had missed the event, and can at least have the cake at a later time. The lady charged me .50 cents per container but press for time I paid and left. Given credit with credit is due, the cake was excellent, but this inconsistency does not endear me to order from this place again. The order was for my boss who paid for the order, so I endured the audacity to charge me for the containers after wasting my time, and having to work around her schedule due to her appointment. Did I say the total order was 75.00! poor customer service. Did I mention several cars came and went tire of waiting? Disappointed! read more

Nildas Party Creations is located next to Altura Bistro in a strip mall off Tudor and Old Seward. The interior is clean and simple. Sometimes the window is full of treats, other days the focus is getting party orders out. Nilda, the owner and baker, has been making her Latin treats long before she secured this location. She made my 3 tiered wedding cake back in 2010, out of her home. It was beautiful, moist, and delicious. I prefer her merengue frosting. People absolutely come to her for her extravagant Latin cakes. Pineapple is my favorite filling but she also does strawberry and dulce de leche fillings, which are yummy as well. I've ordered a few birthday cakes for my kids at Nildas Party Creations. Besides my sons name being misspelled once, I've been happy with my order each time. Prices are affordable, portions are extremely generous, and orders have been ready at the agreed upon time. Nilda's Tres leche cake (the cake literally sits in sweet milk), is a staple. Its usually available for purchase in slice form (more like a large square) whenever she's open. It is the best chocolate cake we have ever had and we thought we had tasted it when living in Mississippi there is not even a comparison! If you have never had tres leche cake, stop in and get a slice. This type of cake recipe yields a moist (but not soggy) tasty cake. I first tried Nilda's cake at a corporate bake sale. I had the pineapple filling yellow cake with white icing. So tasty. I looked Nilda's up on facebook. The facebook page for the business has so many beautiful pictures of elaborate desserts. Today she had a new cupcake: chocolate sundae with strawberry filling. I stopped in and bought two for myself and two for my husband. The cupcakes were delicious. I ate one in the car and saved one for a plate with a fork. I wanted to get icing, filling, cake, and chocolate topping into each bite. Nilda's is a family business that specializes in Latin desserts. However, if you are not familiar with what that means, do not let that keep you from stopping at this bakery! The presentation of the desserts is only surpassed by the delicious flavor. The shop is easy to find at the NW corner of Old Seward and Tudor. It is in a strip mall and has some flags hanging from the sign. Nilda's has convenient hours that help when you are craving a delicious treat. Do your tastebuds a favor and stop by. As my birthday was coming around I asked around on FB where to find a Tres Leches cake. I happened to be sitting at Middle Way Café and they had some in the cooler that melted in my mouth so I immediately ordered my $55 cake from them that took 3 days and ended up Being the DRIEST cake I had ever had!! I immediately took it back and went to Nilda, how could I have gone anywhere but here, I told her my experience and she pulled a slice from the cooler, it was soaking in the leches as it should be, I took a bite, a part of each layer included and she smiled as was she watched my eyes grow and heart skip a beat as I had found the most amazing Tres Leches my mouth had ever had Nilda smiles and says "that's how I eat it, a little of each layer and can you taste the brandy..." I zoned out as she continued to tell me the other Ingredients... i remember her saying "I don't use that cheap crap" and laughing and she smiled knowing I had finally found my cake! .. how in the 5 years that they had been open had I not known of this place?! She doesn't advertise, she goes off word of mouth. This woman bakes with her soul. Blood sweat and tears go into this bakery, they hand make everything from the number on the top of the cake to spraying the design. WARNING: For brides to be DO NOT get your wedding cake done here!!! These guys don't have the tools and or experience to be handling any kind of professional elegant or beautiful wedding cake. I came in to get my wedding cake done by them 3 months in advance with a very specific and SIMPLE cake design. These guys literally waited 3 effing days before my wedding to tell me they could not do the cake because they didn't have the right stuff. Given that I only had 3 days until my wedding I DOWNGRADED to a more SIMPLE cake. I had already paid $385 so i took the odds (worst mistake of my life) I was told by them that they could definitely do the second option cake they had the exact colors I was requesting. I left the second time feeling a little better because it seemed like we were on the same page. The first cake in the beginning had navy on it. But since it was so difficult we conclusively decided we could cancel that for the second easier cake to make it as simple as possible. (Wedding cakes shouldn't have to be dumbed down and simple) they are supposed to be beautiful elegant and the center of attention. That's what's going to be in your wedding photos for memories. Well they showed up on my wedding day with a SLOPPY, mediocre-ass joke of a wedding cake I was shocked to find out it was mine!! The cake had Messy yellow "gold" paint on it. The edible paint was messily pained on it looked like an artwork of a 3 year old. The cake looked absolutely NOTHING like the cake I had chosen. Not to mention they had a clear 8x11 picture PRINT OUT of the cake!! The top part of the cake was sunken into the middle of the cake, the fondant was extremely heavy and super sticky. The cake had seriously been rushed and not to mention the countless straws they had inserted in the cake to hold it together. They must had prepared the cake while it was still hot and slathered in the icing. Because the cake was melting. I was so embarrassed and cried the day of my wedding as soon as I saw it. The second option cake was supposed to be only two colors (IVORY AND GOLD) what they gave me was Yellow, White, and NAVY cake. Remember when I said we were going to cancel the navy out? Well the cake had HUGE THICK pieces of navy ribbon slapped onto each teir of the cake which was something I did NOT authorize and we never discussed. All in all my cake was the worst part of my wedding and it basically fell apart in front of all my guests. Please save your money and go to professionals. read more

I would never reccomend this place to anyone celebrating a special occassion. My sister decided to order her wedding cake and cupcakes almost a month in advance. Told her what she wanted to a tee, hell she had requested a picture of a cake the lady had done in the past. when we got there the cake was not ready and she tried saying it was not written down. Then she proceded to be rude and we left with unfinished cupcakes and a cake which we paid a pretty hefty price for. The cake and cupcakes were dry and tasted as if eating cornbread. My mother asked for a refund on the preordered cake for my sons birthday and she was rude about that as well. We came all the way back in for the refund and she proceded to be absolutely despicable to my sister. Then after she thought we had left, i was in the bathroom, i got to over hear some very distasteful things she had to say about us. Needless to say this place has lost the respect and any baking services we might need in the future as well as many others who got to witness the way things were handled. So sure if you want dry bake goods that are tasteless and rude customer service from a baker who needs a serious attitude adjustment then by all means try them.
