My mom initially contacted two florists with a list of the types of flowers and chuppah I had in mind for my wedding. The first florist gave an astronomical estimate and said, "your daughter wants too much." Nina, on the other hand, gave a perfectly reasonable estimate and had everything I had hoped for, including an elegant birch tree chuppah. We met with Nina on two occasions - for more than two hours each. She made sure she understood every detail and offered helpful options and suggestions. She worked with our budget and went above and beyond to stay true to our vision. Nina is absolutely amazing. She did decor and flowers for my wedding and I could not be happier. I am one of those brides who had no idea what I wanted but I knew what I didnt want. Nina was great in helping me figure out what I want, she was very easy to work with, flexible, patient and understanding and always on the brides side :)) She knows what she is doing, so just trust her and everything will be great. One of the first and profound recollections I have of my wedding is the flowers. With her flowers and talent, Nina took a simple chapel space and made it the most elegant, humble and romantic spaces I could have imagined. Again and again my guests and vendors raved about how elegant and exotic our floral arrangements were. Nina is great! At first I went to another florist who scared me with unreasonably high prices for simple things. I had a very small budget for flowers and actually started to worry that I won't have all the things I wanted. Nope! When I went to Nina she clarified the budget and was very helpful working toward it. She fully understood the atmosphere of the place (Old Gallery) and gave great suggestions. Everything turned out magical! I was one of those bridezillas who change their mind week before the wedding, but she had no problem with that. I thought Nina was very kind and calm and her flowers and designs were very nice but I had a difficult time getting her to respond to emails and questions. She seemed to forget what we had ordered at an earlier appointment and seemed very unorganized at times. On more than one occasion we were asked to choose our flowers and table decorations when we had already done that. Her prices were good and her inventory and ideas are good but I felt uneasy about not being able to get a response and felt I needed a plan B in case she didn't show up the day of the wedding. Nina is great! She is the only florist I met with that listened to my lofty ideas AND my tight budget . She was creative and resourceful about the flowers and materials she used in order for me to get the best flowers that I could afford for my wedding. I thought after meeting with other florists and studying every single bridal magazine out there, I've seen it all, but Nina's ideas really surprised me. I agree with one of the negative reviews that her contract was not as detailed as one might expect, but as with any vendor, you need to develop a relationship based on trust. I didn't want to pay twice the price for a contract on pretty stationary, so I went with Nina. My flowers were amazing. They were delivered in great condition and on time. When my husband's boutonniere lost a petal, she was there to replace it with an extra one. Nina stayed after the ceremony to rearrange the room for the reception, but what makes me want to give her a 6th star is that she helped the caterers set up the food when they were running late! What other florist would do that?! I highly recommend Nina because she was excellent to work with and she delivered above and beyond expectations. read more

I am shocked to see the negative review posted regarding Evanston Flowers. I have been working with Nina since 2003 and the only thing I think about every time I see her work is that I wish I knew of her when I got married myself in 2002. I have referred at least 10-15 people to Evanston Flowers for weddings and they were all very happy. Nina actually takes the time to hear what you have to say and is extremely budget conscious. Nina @ Evanston Flowers was great and easy to work with. She did flowers/decor/Chuppah for our wedding. She was accomodating, helpful, and creative. The outcome was beautiful - I loved my flowers! She was willing to work within my budget. She was responsive. We had a minor glitch - for some reason we miscommunicated, and my Chuppah was all white instead of having greenery decor. I used Nina and her flower shop by recommendation of my wedding planner for my 10/2012 wedding. It should be said that I was not the typical "happy blushing bride". I did not have fun in the wedding planning process because I wasn't able to put the rest of my CRAZY life on hold to wedding plan so it was a very inconvenient thing to fit into my busy life. This being said, Nina handled my crazy with absolute poise and grace. I am not a huge flower person in general and the first time my now husband got me flowers I told him to not waste so much money on things that die in a matter of days.....so, this being said... Who knew I would pick the most expensive flowers for my dang wedding? I am APPALLED at how much flowers cost in general and this event was no exception. YES they were beautiful YES she did a GREAT job but MAN these things were not cheap! I spent more on flowers and pin spotting than I did on 2 full blown photographers for 12 hrs (my cityscape engagement session included price wise but not in those 12 hrs mind you). So if you're a flower person and you get / accept the price of flowers etc...then Nina should be on TOP of your list because she really does do fantastic work. If had to do it again though I would have found a way to make my own bouquets and been more of a minimalist for table pieces and saved a TON of money...even if they looked worse. It's one very quick day and right now where we are in life those thousands of dollars would come in SUPER handy! read more

We were planning the wedding from out of town, and she worked around our schedule to give us plenty of time and attention when we were in Chicago. Gorgeous fresh flowers that are reasonably priced! Worked with Nina to do all the flowers for my Aug 08 Wedding Celebration. She was fantastic, and the flowers were better than I could have ever imagined. Super easy to work with, helpful, honest, and friendly! My wedding colors were hard to match, and she took the time to find roses that matched beautifully. All of the corsages and centerpieces were amazing considering my limited budget, and she was very helpful coming up with ideas on how to decorate! Things started out well, but ended on a very sour note. I should have known something was not going to go well when what Nina considered a contract was actually a piece of paper with her notes on them. When I asked her about a contract, she said "this is the contract", though there was no place for me to sign off on our flower brainstorming session. This is why it's SO important folks to get an official contract and I definitely blame myself for that part, but I also took Nina's word that the changes we made over the phone about a week before the wedding would be included in on this so-called contract. I was also told by Nina if I paid cash for my flowers then I would not have to pay tax or delivery. The wedding day arrives and I discover at the time of my bouqet toss that there is not an actual a bouquet for me to toss. It was the only thing that went wrong that day and I was embarrassed as people looked around for these flowers that evidently did not exist. Ultimately I used one of the bridesmaids bouqets and things seemed to work out, but I was upset. Fastforward one and a half month's later - I got to thinking that I needed to let Nina know that the toss bouquet was missing so I called her to discuss. She took it VERY personal that I was accusing her of forgetting my toss bouquet and that I wanted a refund, because to me, I paid for this bouquet, even if it was only $35. She proceeded to say, well, I never got a thank you note from you so I figured something was wrong. Did Nina ever call me to find out if I was satisfied as my other vendors did? No. Then she proceeded to complain that she had to fill up 96 mini bud vases with water, is this not her job as a florist? She offered to do this prior to the wedding, but along with the toss bouquet, she must have forgotten. I requested she send over a copy of the contract, you know the one with the last minute notes on it from the week before the wedding and suddenly the last minute notes paper is missing. I told her I would owe her an apology if she could just help me understand how my money was spent on each of the different types of flowers, and she said are you accusing me of charging you more money? I said "no, but I do want to get a better understanding of where my money was spent". She then said she had someone in her shop and I said "no problem, please call me when you are done with your client" and she replied "no, I don't think I will". I said "is this how you are going to leave the situation?" She replied "yes it is". So please be careful with this florist who can't remember to staple last minute changes to an order form or who is unwilling to discuss how your money is spent on her flowers or who suddenly decides to complain about having to fill up mini bud vases. Nina turned out to be an extremely unprofessional florist which is too bad because word of mouth is EVERYTHING! read more
