They put it on medical instead of my vision policy. I paid that, and later was billed an extra amount due to specialty. First, all I was getting was an examination, and was referred to someone else. Totally acceptable chain store* to pick up glasses/contacts, with the usual upsell gimmicks…read more So it had been forever and a day since I had a pair of new glasses, and having the worlds most super generic, yet incredibly comprehensive eye insurance (thanks hospital employee life), I was urged to visit this generic store..via the aforementioned generic insurance companies bland website. Are you sensing a trend yet. Not finding any independent optometrists in my new area, I let out an audible sigh and resigned myself to my new suburban fate. Literally every other chain eye store (there are quite a few of them around, all having the same name of course), had a few weeks wait except for this one so, I made an appointment. This of course was quickly cancelled due to a snow storm and rescheduled for two days later...wait do you think the other chain stores had open slots they were holding, and I might have been able to to go to an even closer one? oh well. I went in for my eye exam and glasses/contact fitting, which of course cost so much more than I remember: "Oh yes, your insurance covers "normal" contact fittings for 40$, however "disposable" contact fittings are 300 but don't worry, you get it for 182" - who uses glass contacts these days? This always has felt like a giant scam to me but again, whatever. Expensive script(s) in hand, I went up to the nice enough sales folks in the chain store who proceeded to find glasses to fit my giant head**. Pair secured, we sat down to check out and I legit saw the nice man's eyes go wide. "Oh what wonderful insurance you have". My glasses then went from ~180$ to ~300$ and now included blue light reflective ultraluxe x-ray vision addons...to which I asked "why" and had all of those fun features removed. I will miss the ability to see though walls, but let me tell you the pair I have work great at night none the less. So yea. Go in with the expectation that you will spend more than you planned on (amazing insurance or not) and that they will 100% try to upsell you on everything. If you're cool with that, then you can certainly get a nice a pair of glasses here and they will be ready to go in an hour or so. _____ *The Doc in the back ran an independent practice and was very very nice. **My mom legit calls me Mr. Met, and will send me GIFs of Mr. Met out of the blue with zero context and zero follow up. Dr. Roth didn't answer any of my questions, and seemed to be following a checklist. He pushed the eye device into my face rather hard, hard enough where it hurt when it impacted my forehead. My eye pressure was high--something that should not have been overlooked--but Dr. Roth failed to even notice it. After I brought it up, he quickly dismissed it, saying he'd "take care of it" as he rushed me out. Take care of it when? That kind of neglect is unacceptable. I literally have to go to a different doctor to redo the exam because this guy was so incompetent. This is not to mention that I was initially told vision therapy would be covered by my insurance, and then told the first part would be $1400 not covered by any insurance. He wouldn't tell me the cost of the next part nor would he tell me what was involved. Please don't go here - you deserve better.

My son has a hard time sitting still for too long he was able to get up, move around, stim if he needed, he was given the time he needed to regulate himself so that he could continue his exam. She broke his exam up into multiple seasons so that he would be able to tolerate the exam and become familiar with her. It worked we were able to find out if he needed glasses. Her assistants are wonderful as well they were so patient and kind. I would definitely recommend this eye care center for everyone, especially those with special needs.
