Been waiting to try Nina's for a while, and took the time today to drive along highway 7 for some take out. As of writing, due to COVID-19 measures take out is the only option, and we were quickly served. We decided to split a goat and a chicken roti wrap, along with a medium order of oxtail and rice to share amongst the three of us. The roti wraps were stuffed with no shortage of protein. They were hearty and filling, with some trace bones in the chicken. You also have the option for the hot sauce on the side, which was a good choice as without knowing beforehand it is always wise to try it first. The oxtail came in smaller pieces and were quite boney. You are given a generous scoop into of rice. More than enough to share with leftovers for later. You are also given a comp coleslaw which us a nice touch. Overall, the total was about $35.00 which is fairly decent value. For the wrap itself, seemed a bit dowey to Aneals' in Richmond Hill, which may come out on top overall. However, I would definitely recommend a roti, and will try one with a patti next time! -Zuk

Jerk chicken and rice and peas

Walking in its a clean establishment and the food is all laid out there in front of you for you to choose from. I had the jerk chicken. The flavours were good especially the rice and peas which she offered the oxtail gravy on. It was spot on and packed with flavour once it was soaked in the sauce. The woman working there said she recommends the oxtail gravy with the rice and peas and curry goat gravy with the white rice. The chicken itself was a little overcooked but the flavours were all there and it was very tender as a result and easily separated from the bone. The homemade hot sauce had quite a kick to it, adding a good dose of spice to the chicken but not much flavour otherwise which is okay since the chicken is flavourful enough by itself. The coleslaw was nice but not too special. The only other addition I would have and why I took a point off is that the tables were sticky for no reason. I think it had something to do with the varnish used. I could say that I would recommend this place if you are stopping for a quick lunch.

The foods was absolutely delicious!!! The star of the show was definitely the oxtail and rice, this is a MUST ORDER! The protein portions are extremely generous, and I recommend the chicken roti to change up the flavors. Lastly, the service is friendly and helpful will definitely come back for the ackee and saltfish!

Mac and Cheese was stale and the chicken was alright - will not come back here again, the mac and cheese gave me food poisoning - and he said he would give me 3 pieces and gave me 2, what a rip off

    Enough goat for 2.

Nice local spot for times when you are craving some curry goat with rice. It's in small plaza on Highway 7 and caters to local businesses and take outs. I usually get the curry goat roti but went with curry goat with rice. A medium goes for about $13.50 including tax but you get 3 lbs of food. Box of rice with beans with a bed of tender flavourful curry goat on top. Goat pieces are on the bone, but that makes it even more flavourful. It's enough to feed 2-3 people. Also come with a nice cole slaw and a small container of hot sauce. Maybe you can take the spice, as the hot sauce has some serious heat. If you are in the area and craving some island food, this is a good spot.

Not a very good photo of the chicken roti.

Chicken roti was good but curry could have had more depth in flavour. The chicken got more dry as I continued to eat. Beef patty was nice and warm by the time I got it from UberEats. Had a good amount of spice to it. Overall good place to order lunch from.

The staff were friendly and the service was quick and easy. I ordered a veggie roti for takeout and paid $8 (with tax) which I thought was a good price. I was surprised at how large and how heavy the container was. That is, until I got home and opened it. The roti consisted almost solely of whole chick peas. The curry flavour was there but it was not the main component as all I could taste was chick peas. Overall, I was very disappointed and found this roti to be bland and not to my liking. I may try some of their other offers but I would not every purchase a veggie roti here again.

Good for lunch. I usually get the oxtail on rice. Well seasoned so that it complements the meat and not overpowering.

Jerk Chicken, Goat Curry and Rice and Peas. This was seriously some of the best Jamaican food I've had. The Jerk Chicken had so much flavour and a nice nice level of heat. For me the star was the goat. One of the best goat curries I've had, regardless of the originating country. The meat was so tender, fall off the bone with tons of depth in flavour. Be careful of the scotch bonnet! Finally the rice and peas, this wasn't your average showing. It was well seasoned and simply way ahead of anything I've previously had. There was fried chicken also, but I didn't get to try it. It's a shame this place is quite the hike from my neck of the woods. I would definitely large orders of takeout from this place! A must try if you're in the area!

Yes…read moreway, way, way up there past Bloor and Keele in some strange neighborhood for which I'm sure a trendy moniker has not yet been adopted. Oh Toto I don't think we're on Queen West anymore ! was what I originally thought. But when I heard from my dear roommate that there was authentic and tasty Jamaican fare to be had up north, I pressed her to join me for an outing sometime. So this past weekend, we braved the rainy weather and set out on an adventure to Lloyd's Foodmart in search of fabulous fried chicken and other goodies. Lloyd's doesn't look like much from the outside, it's located in a seedy looking strip mall and the inside it's a little cluttered and you might get a few suspicious looks from the neighborhood regulars. But if you check your reservations and trepidations at the door, you'll find that you've hit the mother lode in terms of mouthwatering, savoury Jamaican cuisine. The fried chicken had a nice crunchy skin, not greasy and the spicing was almost akin to the Colonel's thought not as heavy on the salt. Lip smackin good!. Curried stewed chicken was rich and hearty, the chicken tender and soft. We also ordered the jerk chicken which had a slow yet blistering hot heat, the result of chunks of habanero peppers present in the sauce. Meow! All of this for a measly $26. A true chicken feast. To top it off, the friendly owner threw in a couple of nerf ball sized fried dumplings for free. These doughy balls were not too hard, sweet and did a good job of soaking up our sauces and taking the edge of the spicing in the dishes. What a great, yet out of the way find. Cash only. Some seating available for eat in but in a really, low key atmosphere.

They do have a bar setup, but didn't appear it's used for alcohol. I was greeted as soon as I opened the door and was walking through. Being my first time, I did order a few didn't dishes, sides and desserts to try. There was NOT a bad dish. All the food was amazing. Great portions, tasty flavors and everything truly was cooked to perfection. I have given up talking about prices because let's be honest where can you go for cheap anymore. BUT I have to mention I got the Kinsley street fried chicken dinner, it comes with four prices chicken (half chicken, breast, leg, wing, and thigh) and two sides for 22.99, I felt this was actually a great price point and so worth it. Our next dish was the JP fish sandwhich and fries, again, the sandwhich was huge, the fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection! Fries were yummy. Next up was the TPs hot honey chicken sandwhich. Now I am over the hot honey chicken sandwhich as it's been done to death, but I still always feel the need to try eveyones hahaha, and glad I did another grand slam sandwhich! For the sides, I tried the Mac and cheese, pinto beans, collard greens and coleslaw. If you follow my reviews I am a Mac and cheese snob, don't think I order many that I liked, well thank you Heavens because the Mac and cheese was DELICIOUS!!! The Coleslaw was also top notch. I don't eat collard greens or pinto beans but my family told me they were good. They did not have desserts on the menu but I seen some on the counter, sooooo I order a slice of caramel cake, slice of sour cream cake and peach cobbler. Fat kid heaven they all were so good. Literally the best caramel cake since my mother in law! I felt like I just ate at my husband's family reunion. I had to go in and order, then I left ran to dash and came back in about 25 mins and my food was ready when I got back. So service was pretty fast. My only thing wish you could order on line first, parking is not the best in that area. Also Google has address as 1641 Hertel but it actually is 1633, not a big deal because same area but just a heads up.
