Tasty food, nice atmosphere and great service. On our way through Cumberland Gap to Cherokee Lake we stopped for dinner. And it was a great choice. Through the main door is the hostess stand and a dinning area but we were seated in the adjoining dinning area where the bar is located. For some reason I prefered that room. The decor was nice, comfy and welcoming. Our server was not super friendly but he was efficient, competent and good. He checked on us regularly but was not overbearing. We had the chicken pasta which was well like and had a bit of a kick to it. An asian salad that was very good with crisp veggies, noodles and shreeded chicken and the chicken stir fry. This dish also was served with crisp veggies, chunck chicken and jasmine rice. My husband and I split this dish, they split it for us and it was plenty wirh dessert. We had the chocolate lava cake and the bread pudding, one with moose tracks ice cream the oter with black cherry ice cream. Service was awesome. The server was training a new hire, but they did not skip a beat. We were pressed for time, and he was so attentive and really came through for us to expedite our meal without making us feel rushed. The food was outstanding. We had the wings appetizer with a side of french fries and the cajun (not spicy) creamy pasta with shrimp. Everything was delicious and the perfect temperature. Heard about this place in an email from Living In Tennessee and decided to give it a try. We stopped in at lunch on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy at all. We started with the Street Corn Croquets. They were delicious!! We decided to split the Cuban Sandwich. It comes with fries or a salad. We got the fries. The sandwich had thick pieces of pork and ham with pickles, Swiss cheese and sauce. It was delicious! Carmella was our server and he was great- attentive but not intrusive. The bar area is beautiful too. The restaurant is quaint and rustic and it was a nice experience. Made reservations for 5:15 on Friday eve. Pretty crowded by time we finished our meal. So good idea to call for reservations in prime time. Service was good friendly and timely. Wait staff were attentive but not annoying. Nice decor and great looking bar in back dining room. Also served me a wonderful disoronno sour. We had avocado spinach dip with chips for appetizer. Very cheesy and tasty. Will try Filipino lumpia next time it looked terrific. I tried the shrimp Cajun pasta. Not very spicy but delicious. Wife had a perfectly prepared filet with dirty mashed potato and veggies. Our third in our group got the tomahawk pork chop. They said it was amazing. We shared a Hawaiian bread pudding. Went here after a big hike so I was hungry!! The street corn croquettes were really good! I definitely recommend them. My friend ordered the burger and it was really good and really good quality. I got the chicken tenders and I was super disappointed. They were just some frozen things you'd get off of a kids menu at some fast food place. They make so much fresh and homemade stuff so I thought getting a featured entree would be something a little better quality. This place was a jewel of a find. Tucked away in Cumberland Gap, a small mountain town where I never would've guessed such a place would be. After a recent day of hiking with 16 members of our hiking group, we worked up a voracious appetite. Our fearless leader suggested this place. He had called ahead to make reservations and when we arrived they were ready for us. Our server was Nathan. He is an awesome asset to the team. He was knowledgeable about the menu and there were two items he did not quite know for sure but he readily went to the kitchen, got the answer, and reported back to us. Now this is service with a smile. An unexpected pleasure were hamburgers and other dishes made with Wagyu beef (a special Japanese beef with extensive marbling) making it one of the most mouth-watering tasty hamburger in a long time. The menu has some unexpected offerings that one would normally only see at a high end eatery. The taste here is definitely high end, but the prices are good. They also have a fully stocked bar and dinner service as well. Awesome service Great atmosphere Fabulous food Affordable prices What more could one ask for? We were in town visiting LMU and we came here on a random Friday evening during dinner because we heard the steak was amazing. We were like yes! Let's go. Sat down at the table, got drinks and bam, the "Black Angus Ribeye Steak" was sold out. How do you sell out of steak at 4:50 PM? Could maybe relay the information upon sitting us down, "Hey, by the way our steak is sold out." As a side bar, there was a flying fly near the window by us and kept going near the food. To make up for the steak missing, I had the burger, it was decent but that appeasing for $15. I think at that price point maybe a Five Guys burger would have been better? read more

For $219 I liked the tater cakes. They were huge, and very delicious. The rest, was ONLY SUBPAR!!! Have waited months to eat there, the steaks weren't cooked, none of us ate our food!! We called them about it, the girl was a smart ass about it and she hasn't even spoken to me the entire time the order was placed or up until it was picked up. And I called several times until our order was finished!! Always spoke to the same young man. Who was a delight, by the way. We drove 35 minutes just to their business from another state to eat. And was so excited about it, because of rave about it we'd heard and seen from everyone, we couldn't wait. And we've NEVER paid that much for food at a restaurant!!! I love this place! We had been to the Pineapple Tea Room (this place before it was THIS place) years ago. It was nothing to comment on. The building has been saved and restored and place looks great!! The service and food would be exceptional anywhere; but in Cumberland Gap???? Lunch for us was the green chili pork burrito (delicious) and green chili pork street tacos (equally delicious). It was a tough choice because the rest of the lunch menu looked great. We went here after checking out the gap. Arrived at 8 pm and the hostess had to " check if the kitchen was open." Not sure if she didn't want to serve us bc we were not dressed well enough or if she was unaware the restaurant was open until 9. The barkeep knocked out two marvelous drinks for us, visiting our table to verify the details before mixing. Anyways, I made reservations & went over & had dinner yesterday evening. And wow! Talk about a monumental LET DOWN! I mean, talk about just ALL hype. The Meatloaf was so dry tht I had to add ketchup . You should NEVER have to add anything to good meatloaf. It had rice in it which soaked up any juices tht wld naturally be there. When I eat meatloaf, I want it to be succulent, and a little crispy on top. The broccoli tht came with the meal was so hard tht I had to use a knife to cut it. Idk bout you but I dnt care for practically RAW broccoli. I give it a 1/5 The Teriyaki Chicken was good, it was but here's the thing, it gave me HORRIBLE HORRIBLE gas. Yeah! I have the same thing at home & other places & dnt have crazy gas ya know so I started To wonder what cld have done this. And the only thing tht I can cld think of was tht they must use MSG. AND Now tht I think back on it, it was ALL taste & tht was it. I give it 3/5 Also, I heard a couple behind me order a glass of wine, well the waiter goes to the Bartender & asks for the order ONLY to be told tht they DO NOT serve wine nor spirits (and I heard him say this - so I know the couple heard it as well) well, the waiter returns and tells the couple (and why didn't the waiter already know?) "Our mixologist has informed me tht we DO NOT have any wine or spirits" so tht got me thinking, why is this guy referring to this bartender as a "mixologist" I mean is he a mixologist? Probably. But in this setting at this location, you're not mixing ANYTHING besides a beer to a glass or a beer with a garnish. Lol. Ya know. I got up and looked at "The Bar" and they had like 6/7 bottles of beer and not even the popular beer either. So the couple order a corona. The waiter goes to the bar and orders it only to Find out tht they do have corona BUT not regular corona it's like corona platinum or something like tht. So he walks back to the couple & informs them and I hear the guy say "well I've never had tht particular kind but I guess I'll try it." . It was a very unpleasant and unprofessional setting. And only one last thing. They were stengy with the ice . Yeah! I had to ask for more ice like 3X. Why not just use plenty of ice...?! Like it's not gonna hurt you any. So to summarize: I was NOT impressed AT ALL with the food the service or the atmosphere. And believe me, I wanted it to be just awesome and great. No one wanted it to be awesome & great & monumental MORE than me. But, it wasn't. This is a perfect example or all Hype. So much hype built up around this place. And maybe it's just a new business just working out the kinks or whatever. I really hope tht it is. I'll go back later at a future date & hopefully it gets much much better but rN, rN I wldnt waste the time nor the money. If you find yourself in tht area, please DO NOT buy into the hype & just go to Angelo's across the street. It's SO MUCH BETTER. I was expecting Homemade ingredients only to find it was the same ol same ol frozen foods tht you wld typically get off of a food truck. Which I am to understand tht 1919 actually started as a food truck. So now tht I think about it - it doesn't surprise me tht it was the same quality as something you'd get off the street. As an afternoon tourist in the Cumberland area, we checked out this place. It was very very clean and organized (including bathroom). A very fresh and modern-feeling interior. The menu is quite varied and the food was very good. We had the croquettes to start. Tasty and fresh. We also had fried shrimp tacos (very good), a Caesar salad with tempura shrimp (the same shrimp as the tacos BTW). The salad was really good, but I'd not call it a Caesar salad dressing. And the shrimp light and tasty. A side order of fries was, well, fries. How to go wrong? Haha. They are the thin smooth kind. Service was so friendly. There is a full bar and quite the beer selection, too. I could see this also being an evening dinner spot, with several dinner-type meal options on the menu. The one disappointment was the fact that the television over the bar was playing FOX News. Pretty tacky and annoying. And that could go for any news station, really. The other was a sports channel.
