I stopped by The Butchers Pub with my friends to have a few birthday drinks. The bartender was so sweet and helpful as I was asking lots of questions about the TN moonshine. They stocked nearly 20 different flavors for sale as a shot. I tried the peach and loved it! I was served a peach in the shot glass which I thought was a nice touch. Pineville is a small town and this is a local bar. I cannot speak to the food as we did not eat here. The ambiance was cozy and the locals were nice. There was a small patio out back if you wanted to have your drink outside. But there were no chairs. The restroom was clean and I really loved the private booths near the bar. The walls of the booths went all the way up to the ceiling. You will also notice the Irish influence throughout the bar. read more

This is weird because I came at lunch with a friend. Because I am not from around here and it was a "pub" I wanted to try the fish and chips. This was a "nah for me dawg". The chips were good. The fish tasted too "fishy". So I am under the impression that good fish tastes like the ocean and bad fish tastes "fishy". This tasted too fishy for me. While I recommend eating her, I do not recommend the fish and chips. The server suggested the Ruben egg rolls and the burgers. I would choose those next time. read more

Well the butchers pub is NOT what it sounds like or atleast it wasn't for me the 1st time tht I had went there. Having "Butcher" in the name you'd think tht wld indicate the fact they'd have a buncha different types & cuts of meats. Well, you'd be dead wrong. Lol seriously. There is no steak whatsoever. The BEST item on the menu was a hamburger which to be fair was pretty good & The butchers pub does have a very cool background & atmosphere just not great food. Just alright really. When you walk in you feel like it's going to be nicer than what it actually is and therein lies the flaws of this "cld be" popular and cool little pub. Idk. Maybe it's just me. We've been to the restaurant a couple of times before with mediocre food and service, but last night was the worst. We attended a party in the upper room. Guests at the party had to take orders for everyone because a worker was not in sight. Several of us never got our food after waiting for over 2 hours! The ones that did get good said it was cold and awful. We ended up leaving to go somewhere else to eat. It really felt that the staff were far more concerned with serving the obnoxious drunk people at the bar than anyone else. Maybe this review will stick since the business is deleting any reviews of last night that have been left on their Facebook page. read more

Went here for lunch and had the macaroni and cheese with fried chicken and it was awful. The macaroni tasted like it had been nuked in the microwave or just under a broiler and was cold. The breadcrumbs on top tasted like they had liquid smoke and left a horribly sour taste in your mouth. The chicken on the macaroni was good however. This is an amazing gem hidden in Pineville KY. The welcoming staff, the diverse menu and the awesome food made the trip to the Butchers Pub worth the drive. The pretzel appetizer was huge , hot and delicious. Beer cheese and jalapeño dip rounded our this first course. The wife and both had the meatloaf which was the size of a building brick. It's a blend of beef and sausage which give it a great taste. It's smothered in their home made bbq sauce. We barely made a dent in the sides which were equally delicious and huge. First of all this was not our first stop here since we live locally. We were greeted at our table by a gal who didn't even bother to smile. Appeared she hates her job since she still seemed angry when after waiting a long time for our check we got up to pay at the bar and almost couldn't wait to get out the door. I suggest the staff get some type of uniform. Wait staff looked a hot mess running around in oversized t-shirts and short shorts with hair flying out of a messy ponytail. Now to the food. We ordered an appetizer of Irish nachos. This is our favorite dish and get it every time we go there. After waiting way to long for an appetizer (I'm not sure if they know the meaning of the word) it arrived cold. Turns out the egg on the top had to be redone. Meanwhile the cheese is hardening. Finally, our entrees arrived. I ordered a Ceasars salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was tasty. However, the salad was saturated with practically a bottle of dressing. It was gross! I told 4 people who arrived at the table the issue and all I was told was "I'll tell them about it". I was offered another salad by one staff but after waiting so long for the order to arrive I declined. This would have been good customer service to comp that dish, but nope still charged full price. The ice tea was no more than flavored water. But my hubby said his Cheesesteak sandwich was good. They need to raise the bar a bit and clean up their act. Knock off the loud staff conversation behind the bar and make the customers feel welcome instead of biting our faces off when we sit down. As of this review, this was the third time I had come by the Butchers Pub. After the second time, I had said I wasn't interested in coming back but a group of us wanted to go after Frostie at the Bell Theater. The atmosphere is really good here and because of the ambience you think you're in for a good experience. For my first two trips, I tried their Chicken and Waffles. The chickens breading is so thick and fried for so long it becomes a challenge to eat. I tried it the second time thinking it was a one time thing because I've known people to boast the Butchers Pub as a good place to eat. The second time I think it was harder. This last time I went, we started with their fried pickles and then I had a burger and fries with Parmesan. The pickles gave us all a false sense of hope that we were in for a treat. They were cooked well, flavorful, and out of the kitchen in a timely manner. However, our food took over an hour to come out of the kitchen and a waitress came to us at one time and apologized. She said 12 orders came in at once and backed up the kitchen which we said we understood - until we saw two tables get served who came in after us. These two tables even left before we received our food. When the food did come, it was at varying temps. My food wasn't even warm while one of our groups fries were blistering. This disappointing experience culminated when I had to go fetch our tickets and ask for a box. Our group jokingly asked me how much they owed me for a tip because we had waited at least twenty minutes on a check. I wish I could say better things about this restaurant and I wish them well but my recommendation is to skip this one and eat Sauced instead or travel to Middlesboro, Cumberland Gap, or Harlan for better service and food. read more

Was very excited to initially go. Service was very subpar and it was kind of dirty. Draft beers looked good, but two kegs were empty and weren't replaced, so very limited selection. Our order was wrong and we had to ask for silverware about 10 minutes into trying to eat our food. Fish and chips were brutal. Don't do it, whatever you do. Our waiter took out the trash and came back with the trash can in his hands and then grabbed our credit cards without washing his hands. Wow! The Butcher's Pub has come a long way since opening. I have to give it five stars because the improvements they have made. The service was great--I don't think my glass of water ever went below 1/2 full. The staff was extremely friendly. The Irish Nachos were out of this world. I would say get the hot sauce on the side though--I've learned from past experiences. Lastly, the 'Ole Smoky Moonshine limited time burger was ridiculously good. Each bite was jam-packed with flavor. This is our second time visiting The Butchers Pub and to be honest the second time was just as "blah" as the first. First, the parking is exactly what you would expect from a small town eatery so no complaints there. Second, we did visit on a live music night and this is going to factor into my scoring, we sat as far away from the music as possible but it was still so loud there was no way to communicate with our table. The talent was mediocre, at best - just like the whole experience. We ordered an appetizer, fried pickles, and they were by far the highlight of this trip. The service here is never fast, we waited right at an hour and ordered nothing prepared special. I did have the burger of the week and it was so bland, it tasted like just meat and bun. To be fair I did have the fire roasted tomatoes left off and maybe that's where all of the flavor was?? Because it definitely wasn't on my burger. The other members in our party (4 adults and 1 child) reported their meals to be bland and their fries cold. If I could give negative stars, I would. My sister-in-law hosted a party in the upstairs area to celebrate my brother's graduation from the state police academy. Clearly hosting such events is not something they do regularly! Don't be fooled by their claims to be able to do so! We had to take our own orders (the server handed us his order pad), most guests had get their own drinks and it took 2 hrs to get the fried pickles and wing appetizers to tables and another 40 mins to get the hamburgers and chicken sandwiches to guest. Several guests never even got their food (3 hrs in). Drink refills never came, guests had to go downstairs to get alcohol drinks and get ketchup, mayo, napkins and other condiments. We even bussed our own tables (after beginning for a trash can upstairs). My sister-in-law had planned this with the restaurant over a month in advance and had been assured that there would be dedicated servers and a bartender to support our group. They did nothing to hold up their agreement for our party. She even had to set up tables before the party. When she asked for a refund or at least some discount, the owner threatened to call the KY commissioner because she said we were just trying to skip out on the bill and she claimed we had made the server cry. Both claims are BS! This was a room full of state cops, park officials, sheriffs, professors, and families. They had one very inexperienced sever helping our group of 25 adults and several children and everyone was nice to the server (we actually felt bad for him) and didn't blame him for the issues. It was super disappointing to be treated as if our business meant nothing - they ruined a very important night for our family and friends and clearly do not care about their customers. I still can't believe this owner was belligerent with my sister-in-law and never even offered an apology- just threats. No way to do business. We will never darken their door again and I will be sure everyone else I know never eats there. read more

I hosted a graduation party here for my fiancé DISASTER!!! I gave them a 2 month notice to feed 50 people. Finalized my guest list down to 30. 22 people showed up. We did a limited menu agreed upon a month prior to party day! I booked the party room upstairs for 4 hours! 6-9. 17 people ordered food. I took all my guest order and help make there drinks Bc we had one waiter! And this waiter had to help downstairs also! My guest waited 2 hours for there food! Simple food too! Burgers and chicken sandwiches. Some waited hour and half for fried pickles! I was embarrassed! Two of my special guest never got there food. The bartender was bringing there burgers as we where leaving at 9:30. 30 mins past our room time! This place is a joke!!! Woman who runs the party room was rude never apologize discounted our bill 64$ and of course never accepted any blame! NEVER EVER will I or my family and friends use this business for anything! Don't see them staying in business long if this is how you're customers are treated! I had to leave a star, Bc negative wasn't an option. Save yourself the trouble and don't even walk thur the front door! Complete joke! I called the part owner requesting to talk to him. Never even got a call back! Go figure! Lesson learned! read more

My wife had a event planned for two months, at there up stairs room. Her and a friend had to set the tables up themselves before the event. They had pre-planned this dinner event and agreed on limited menu which we understood would be fresh to order and would take a little extra time. So the night the event we get there first and her and a friend order a couple of waters and some fried pickles. The pickles took good hour to get so that was just the start. There was no napkins, ketchup, etc. Or garbage can after asking several times. We had one waiter for 22 people not a large party but we did offer too help. So my wife and her sister took orders as people arrived so not all at once. We just had hamburger, chicken sandwich, Cheese steak and wings and pickles too choice from. They sent first orders to the one waiter and over hour half we got a few off the fried pickles. We never received drinks after the first waters so my wife and sister use the waiter station and began getting guest drinks. Food began coming very slowly after hour and little more after 2 hours. Food was cold and had been seating. My wife told the waiter she was not happy with how this going. He never came back after this point 2.5 hours later we start cleaning up ourselves and a new waiter came and she asked for a garbage can again which they got. We cleared our own tables. She told this new waiter she was not happy and she like to see a manager. We'll time went on and several guest never got there food and left hungry. There was a gentleman show up said he was the bar tender and spoke to my wife and said they make it right. I wasn't in on the full conversation but told him we shouldn't have to pay for food that was cold and not eaten or never received and he was very friendly and helpful. Said he would make it right. It had been three hours and almost everyone was gone. As I was packing up my gifts because I never got to open for trying to help clean and make sure I apologize to everyone for food taking hours or never receiving. A lady walked in I heard my wife ask if she was the one she planned with she said yes. My wife asked if they could go somewhere and talk and figure this out. She became very aggressive and loud and said she was not going to argue and my wife had mad the two waiters cry. She then said we wasn't walking out on a 400 dollar bill. Which was never said we just didn't want pay for everything we didn't get or wasn't eating because was cold. We all said what waiters on one had been there a few times and the only thing said to him was she was not happy and this was not right waiting this long. She began blaming everything on my wife that she offered a buffet or to pre order food. My wife said she knew we have to wait but 3 hours for hamburgers come on. She just keep over talking my wife and would not listen. I even asked her if she be happy taken her family out and waiting 3 hours for hamburgers. She just keep getting loud and my wife trying to explain. I told my wife a couple times just forget it will just pay and leave you can't talk to her. The lady just keep getting loud and wouldn't listen. I Finally had enough of her yelling told her go down the stairs get my bill and we leave. She said we was band and could come back. Which I told her I would not be back. After we payed the bill with very small discount and was leaving they was bring food up at 9:20p and I said look this why we are upset she just yelled more video taped us telling us to get out. read more

On an unexpected trip to Pineville stopped in to the Butcher Pub and to my surprise the menu was as diverse with choices you would normally find in a serious foodie town. The atmosphere was welcoming and laid back. The staff very friendly. The food was delicious. Between the two of us we tried 4 different things on the menu. It was good size potions we had to ask for to go boxes. We live 45 minutes away and would gladly drive back just to enjoy this play. Had been for dinner about 6 months ago and although the place was quite busy, we received fairly good service and decent food. Went back for lunch a couple of months later and both service and food were a nightmare - and we were the only two people in the entire place! Tried again for dinner a few weeks later with the same results. Have family coming in for a visit so decided to give the restaurant one more shot in hopes of having a place to take them to eat. My daughter and I went in two weeks ago on a Saturday at about 7:30pm. We were two of only 6 people in the entire restaurant/bar. Our server, Courtney, came over immediately and took our drink order. Drinks were pricey but good. Requested water which was never delivered. Ordered food - a burger & fries and the Guinness battered fish - both dinners with side salads (which they refused to substitute for the slaw on the fish dinner, even at an extra charge). Salads were brought and were soggy and inedible. Never saw our waitress again. She and one of the bartenders spent the entire evening behind the bar vaping and playing on their phones. Almost 45 minutes later we had to go up to the bar and ask about the food as it had not yet been served. Food finally delivered. Burger and fries were not only ice cold but the burger was so charred black it was unrecognizable as a burger and completely inedible. Had ordered fried pickles (as an extra) on the burger and they were not present. Fish was soggy with grease and disgusting. Food was served with only one set of silverware service for two people. When I requested silverware, I was brought a single fork. When I asked about a rolled set with a knife, napkin, etc., Courtney rudely stated there were napkins on the table and they were out of rolled silverware - the fork was all they had available. Side of fried pickles finally arrived and that, along with the drinks, was the best part of the entire dinner. Asked to speak with a manager. No manager present. Refused to give contact information for manager. Bartender came over to discuss problems, apologized, said she would discount the $8.90 burger (+ $3.80 for bacon & fried pickle add-ons) by 50% even though only two bites of the burger had been taken. When the bill arrived, she had given a $3.00 discount. Maybe all the vaping has fogged her brain and impacted her ability to do mathematics. Would never recommend this place for food or service. You are wasting good money if you are looking for either. read more
