I had a nice time here and it was not too hard to get a seat, although I'm sure it depends when you go. I just got a regular brewed coffee--something I am often hesitant to try in new places because it rarely tastes as good as my own that I make at home. Well, I'd still rate mine higher, ha ha, but I was pleasantly surprised that this was a very good cup of coffee (strong, but not bitter) and HOT! For some reason it's not easy to get a hot-enough cup at a lot of coffee bars/shops. On this particular day I found it a little too loud up there to read the book that I had brought, but I'm sure that sound levels vary & I could have put in earpods but I wanted to soak in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. This is me & my partners new fav spot! It's a great place to sit and get some work done while enjoying a creamy latte! It's inside of a shared space, with a bar, restaurant and front / back yard. We've spent all day here before starting with ninth street coffee and moving over for food and a drink. The coffee area alone is very big, a nice place to meet up with a few friends! I like that sustainability is clearly important to Ninth street since you can bring your own cup, use a glass cup while you're there or pay .25¢ for a single use to go cup. read more

Quality: Limited options and I found the Cold Coffee extremely bitter. I still thought it was okay with cream and sugar, but my wife did not enjoy it at all. Since they have their own flavors, I was surprised to see very little variety on their menu. Also, only one small food item, but assume things increase when the brewery opens. Quantity: One size, and it was on the smaller end. Value: $4.50 for Cold Coffee. Ambiance: Ninth Street Espresso has a shop located upstairs at Threes Brewing in Gowanus. After entering the brewery, a quick right will lead you to some stairs with both the coffeeshop and a take-out beer store. It is decorated cute with lots of wood and plants, as well as small windows looking out at the road. They also had a killer playlist on, but it was not clear if any inside seating was available. There were tables and an outdoor structure in use. Crowd: A small line and a few people enjoying their drinks outside. Service: One guy manning the coffee side, another handling beer to-go. At first I was confused where the entrance to this place was (like was I supposed to vault myself through the open window..?), but turns out you go in through the entrance of Threes Brewing co. Nice and ***relaxing*** spot to hang out and get some work done with some good coffee too. I just grabbed an iced coffee here, but was pleasantly met with an aromatic drink with little to no bitterness. The biggest highlight for me about this place was the ambience -- it was a beautiful day in Brooklyn when I came here and appropriately, the windows were open, offering a nice breeze with rays of sunlight finding their way into the cafe. There are plants nicely decorated around the place. There are a decent number of chargers around near the walls. Overall, a nice place to stumble upon. I popped in here yesterday in need of an espresso. It is located between 3rd and 4th Ave and attached to a larger, multipurpose restaurant and bar and other things. The coffee shop is right inside the door, but upstairs on a sort of mezzanine level. The staff was super nice and we had very good espressos. They were not super strong, but they were tasty and not bitter. Since this place is attached to a restaurant, you aren't limited to overpriced pastries and $4 donuts, like at other coffee shops - you can order real food and eat it alongside your coffee. The vibe is rustic / converted industrial space, but it is very cozy and about a 5-10 minute walk from the Atlantic Ave terminal. read more

I came here early afternoon, hoping to get some studies done before heading to class. I'm glad I chose this place! Upon walking in, it's a bit confusing at first. The cafe is connected to a bar, I believe. (Which probably isn't so bad for some of you who might want a drink!) Honestly, I felt a little lost walking in because I didn't know where I was going in. The cafe is on the right side. Once entering the cafe, I was warmly greeted with a smile. I ordered a latte ($4). The latte here was made with perfection! The perfect amount of milk and not too much foam with strong hints of espresso-- just the way I liked it! The barista left a nice tulip pour on my latte, so that's just an added bonus. About the interior, I was extremely pleased. Apartment-feel, so you'll feel like you're just at home. Cute sugar station with plants hanging right above. The tables were right next to the window, which allowed for some natural sunlight to peek in. Wooden tables, mismatched chairs and ALSO aesthetically pleasing black La Marzocco machine. Its a great place to just sit and read here. Or in my case, be on your laptop. It's a nice and quiet place, highly recommended! Also, I think I saw there were stamp cards for this cafe? For the record, my review is for the one located upstairs at Threes Brewing in Gowanus. It's a no-frills outpost next to the growlers and the bottle shop. They sell a few pastries and there are a few tables where you can just sit a spell. There's also Tiny Montgomery (the music venue that's usually just open for seating during the day). What's nice is that Ninth Street Espresso (and the bottle shop) are open for business before the Threes bar is. read more

As you walk through the area in Brooklyn, you may get the feeling you're going b the wrong direction. You're not. Keep on going until you find the small sign that says 9th Street Espresso. Follow the signs up the stairs to the coffee bar. There's a friendly barista that will craft your coffee for you. It's a simple menu: fresh brew, espresso, espresso with milk, but it's good coffee. It's $4 for a 12 ounce espresso with milk. There are a few seats with outlets and they give you a free hour of wifi. read more

This is definitely very relaxing place to just sip on your mud, work on your poems or have a talk with a friend. Espresso with milk was amazing! Muffin was alright, just not my flavor I suppose. The vibe in here is so airy and refreshing, and the coffee is delicious, reasonably priced, and worth the walk. This block of Douglass between 3rd and 4th is really interesting these days with the cafe, Threes Brewing and Insa, my go to neighborhood Karaoke and Korean joint. Don't judge that I love Karaoke! Did I mention that the baristas are always so friendly, genuinely happy to see you, and make the effort to do pretty foam art? And they never ever, ever burn the milk, which is one of my pet peeves with lattes. In a neighborhood filled with cranky baristas, this spot is so refreshing. Since Venticinque and Gorilla left 5th Avenue, it's become my regular go to spot. read more

There are lots of problems with this place: 1. They only have Time Warner WiFi and it only lasts an hour, which makes this place useless as a place to work from, which is the main way I use coffee shops. Even with all the other things wrong with this place, it's conveniently located enough that I would spend the day here (and buy some stuff) if they had bothered to spend $40 to get their own router. 2. I can respect a place that has a narrow selection of a few good things but they have 5 food items and they are all kinds of dry, sweet pastries (and nothing vegan if you swing that way). 3. The coffee is *okay*. It's better than grocery store coffee, but it's a little burnt tasting (not as burnt-tasting as Starbucks). But grocery store coffee costs $1.50, while this coffee is $2.50 (for drip coffee). 4. The clientele is basically all straight white males who work at startups. If go here to meet people at coffee shops, I hope you like talking about "disrupting social". If you walk a few blocks south there are much nicer coffee shops with usable WiFi, cheaper, better coffee, wider food selections, and a more diverse clientele. I really considered giving this 1 star, but I like to reserve that for truly bad places. 1.5 stars might have been a better review. read more

It's a tiny coffee shop inside of Three's Brewery, with a great space for sitting & reading. The iced coffee was good and they have soy milk available, and the croissants are delicious. As far as the menu shows, the coffee drinks available are relatively simple. The people working there have always been friendly, which I've super come to appreciate in this city. read more
