Love this café -- it's super cozy and has a dark academia-type vibe. I love their coffee so much that I even buy their beans to make at home. We got the macchiato and cappuccino which both had nice foam designs, but the macchiato came with seltzer as a palate cleanser, which was interesting. Because we came late in the day, there were no sweet croissants left, but the chocolate cookie was soft and a good balance of sweet and salty. It's a quiet place to enjoy a little caffeine hit. Solid cafe in a convenient neighborhood. The interior of this location is really nice with a good amount of seating towards the back. I ordered an Iced Latte with oat milk, which tasted great! Price was standard with oat milk ~$6.50-7. They also have punch cards where you get the next drink for free after getting 10 stamps. Pretty neat, since coffee nowadays can add up! There's water on tap and a cute little area to borrow books. The bathroom is clean and has a cool treat within the wall! Take it from a self-professed hater of pretentious coffee shops, this spot is legit. It's a beautiful space with good wifi, has a decent amount of seating and relatively clean bathrooms. Still and sparkling water on tap which you can fill at your leisure. Our barista was so knowledgeable about coffee and gave great recs. Apparently all the staff get to visit the coffee plantations where they source and prepare the beans, she had some great insights to share. Only downside is the coffee is quite expensive! read more

Even during the weekday, Stumptown gets pretty crowded. There were almost no seats when I arrived. I got one of their seasonal drinks, a salted maple latte. The drink itself wasn't too sweet, and the touch of salt brought out the coffee flavor. However, that meant the after taste associated with coffee was stronger too. Despite the amount of people, it was still pretty quiet. Most people were doing work. I'm not sure if they have free wifi, but if they did, it seems like it'd be a good place to do work. read more

Came here after a coraline advertisement caught my eye outside the business, walked in and it was very nicely decorated and great ambiance. I decided to try the other mother latte because I'm a coraline fan and it was not my favorite. it's definitely a flavor that I know many people would like but personally me it's a no. I also bought a coraline tote and two stickers, prices aren't the best but I would definitely come back and try something more in my flavor profile. For one, this café is so well decorated and has two seating areas to accommodate people who may want to have a quieter workspace or be around the hustle, and bustle of people coming and going. I arrived an hour or so before closing and ordered a lavender Matcha latte with a chocolate chip cookie and apricot peanut butter bar (have to get your protein in). The lavender matcha latte was not my favorite and tasted more like Matcha as opposed to a lavender infused Matcha. I'm used to Matcha lattes being a thicker consistency and having a good balance between the Matcha flavor, and syrup sweetener that is usually added by the barista. The caffeine levels weren't high, because I was still tired afterwards. The lady at the register wasn't the warmest but the lady that served the latte was friendly and hospitable. Super grateful for the Wi-Fi connection while working. I noticed that the Beyoncé's new album was playing in the background which was a unique choice for Café music with all the explicitives I loved that the location had a water fountain and a seltzer water fountain on tap for customers to serve themselves. You could really feel the history of this location which is pretty neat. I will try to return for another work session for a a vanilla latte next time. read more

Very unfriendly workers here. We were so happy to come inside the cafe to order some pastries and order some iced coffee. Because of how unfriendly the two staff members were, we only purchased one iced coffee. It's amazing that we continued to purchase. The workers just stared at us when we tried to speak with them. We were completely ignored. (Sunday 6/27 4pm) Iced coffee was good. I prefer quality and it was a good quality but if I am paying $6 for an iced coffee, the experience better be memorable. I had some time to kill in between appointments and Google led me to Stumptown. Staff were incredibly nice and the set up is great. There's a ton of space to spread out and hunker down to get some work done. It's a great atmosphere and I love that they have still or sparkling water on tap. It's a lovely location but the prices are unjustifiably high for the quality of drinks and food. This Stumptown in particular is my weekend chill/people watch/decompress coffe spot. The decor is on point and makes you want to stay for the afternoon, pounding espresso's. Couple of things to note: *there are a lot of kids here *there are a lot of strollers here I kid, I kid... I mean, it's all true but I still sorta kid. (Get it? Kid?) The following also applies: *there are a lot of dogs here *there's a lot of good coffee here *the vibe is great So you see, it's a well balanced, well caffeinated kind of spot. (Btw, as I write this, a kid literally just made this place her own and did a cartwheel in the middle of the floor, into the main space. And that's a 100% accurate statement.) Oddly enough, all of the excitement I just described is within the first 25 feet of the establishment. Hallelujah a Stumptown in Brooklyn! The best of the best cold brew has arrived on tap just down the street from me! The bad news, this opening has come at the time I found out I have a milk allergy so no more half and half in my cup. Real tears. The location is knock your socks off and abandon your date beautiful. It's located in an old firehouse and damn it has character. I am not kidding this is the most beautiful coffee shop in the world. A third space that is better than your first space. I am too obsessed with this place. Great coffee, great matcha lattes, good pumpkin bread (I don't care that it's June!!), and great service. Everyone that works here is always super friendly and quick to get your drinks out. This place is the last in the neighborhood to get its stuff together after covid. Virtually nowhere to sit, they've removed almost all of the tables and chairs. The standing table area is still off limits. Squatters sit at the 4 tables inside all day. Hard to communicate with the employees behind plexiglass barricades. At this point--I hope this place gets back in gear or just goes away, giving the space to someone else. Stumptown is not benefiting the community. read more

I love that they didn't charge for alternative milks- kinda seems like Oat milk is the norm anyway, right? Well I came mid-day after a Trader Joes visit (its right down the block) and they had both an outdoor and indoor (vaccination required) seating area. Stumptown is always a good choice for quality beans and nice people- this location is hidden away enough to avoid the traffic in the area and provide nice ambiance. The doors were propped open to I can't imagine it's a very energy efficient store, but I know they practice fair trade in their sourcing, so I love the company as a whole. What a beautiful space. It's uber hipster chic. Well-lit with a highly coveted front patio area. Bring your laptop, order some chickpea guac, and make a day of being a total Brooklyn stereotype in the back room. Or pretend to be a real estate mogul, reading from one of their many available magazines and newspapers while sipping on a delicious nitro cold brew, listening to whatever records they have spinning (Solange, when I was there, for instance). Or just bring your bratty kids who climb all over everything. That's also an option, apparently. But by far the best part is the free sparkling water on tap. It's just... so good. read more

Wow this place is a hidden gem! You probably walked past it a couple times because the exterior is very black and looks sort of abandoned but once you go in its very spacious and reminds me of a bar! I love Stumptown but this location is now my favorite. They have a variety of NYC local baked goods like from super moon house and they have really different coffees like pina colada. The staff there was very friendly and since this place isn't too well known it isn't that packed! Of course their coffee is good as their other locations! Okay, I don't know what it is about the baristas here... but they are INCREDIBLE. I come by often and see the same few employees every time, and they're all so good at what they do. They consistently make the best coffee that I've found in cobble hill. They use really high quality ingredients (I always get an oat milk latte and I love that they serve oatly), and their beans are always so fresh. Nobody gets more excited about new coffee places in the neighborhood than me and I was especially excited about Stumptown because their coffee is guaranteed to be good (it is!). My favorite part about this Stumptown is the space, it's so chic! The coffee shop seems to go on forever and feels like you're walking through someone's tastefully decorated railroad style apartment. Cool apartments like that of course come with French records playing in the background, though I wish they came with more places to sit and linger awhile. One star comes off for slightly slow service. No matter what time of day I come there's a relatively long line which always makes me question my sanity for willing to wait that long to pay $5 for a tiny coffee with nowhere to sit enjoy it... read more

I may be single but if i was not i would spend every Saturday here with my boo. This location is simply gorgeous, with velvet booths and tile floors, dark wood and warm light. By roasting their own beans, a fresh taste is guaranteed. The staff was kind and attentive even on Thanksgiving day. I tried their maple latte and was not disappointed. They have a seasonal hazelnut butter mocha right now that is amazing! The location is really nice and has a great ambiance. Only issue is that there's a 45 minute limit on seating so you can't really stay here to work which is my primary motivation for going to coffee shops. This is a gem in Cobble Hill. This coffee place is SO aesthetic and cute, perhaps the best Stumptown location in NYC. They have ample space but most seats are always filled up. They have both indoor and outdoor (glass ceiling) options. The coffees are strong and tasty. The pastries are from Ovenly and SuperMoon Bakehouse, so greAt taste is guaraNteed. My perfect morning wakeup combo is A Nitro Cold Brew and Raspberry/Matcha Croissant. It's a 10 minute walk from my place but I'm willing to wakeup a bit early to get my daily dose of caffeine from here. read more

Consistently good coffee, but their indoor seating system needs some work. I really appreciate that they have WiFi and indoor tables available, but there are very few places to sit, and it's impossible to see how full the back is when you order and show your proof of vaccination at the register -- I was one of several people walking around with coffee and nowhere to take it, because the staff kept telling me I had to leave the various standing counters. It would be super helpful if they could tell you when you order whether or not the back tables are all occupied, since it's pretty easy for the staff to check. read more

Yeah, great place, but staff just not interested in being there or being in retail in general. Also slow AF on opening up inside - I get we are in Covid, but they are like last place standing that has no indoor component - just more unwelcoming vibes. But even if you can explain away that, it's a shame that such a large, pretty place is staffed by miserable people.
