The food was super good and the man serving us was so nice,i asked him to put the sushi to go and he did a wonderful job. The place is so comfortable, i would be going there again and i totally recommend

Because everyday is sushi day, I had bookmarked this place and wanted to try what most reviews said was pretty good sushi. The good is that the prices are very decent for Montreal since most futomaki rolls are in the $7 range. Their Nigiri selection is more than decent so one could get a nice plate for about $20. The bad is that the sushi just "delivers" but is not amazing. The rolls are standard size for Montreal (meaning small) and the rice in the tuna Nigiri was not the best. I will definitely try them again as they're very convenient but another minus is they don't seem to have a set-piece menu so everything is a la carte.

Visited Montreal during the summer and my friend and I came here after a long day of shopping. The place was quiet and small and we were seated pretty quickly. After walking around and trying to find something to eat, this place was pretty satisfying. The fish was definitely fresh but there was nothing about any of the dishes that stood out to me.

i was craving sashimi so bad and one day, my mom and I were in town so we decided to just go grab sushi there. Its a small place (3tables) but its cozy :3 the staff are nice and their sushi are fresh. we took a salmon tartare, spicy salmon rolls and an other one with tempura and they were all very good. not much variety, the pricing is fair! But i think its the type of place to grab takeout rather than sit.

Update because one year later, i am still visiting Nippon every week. The staff is so so nice and the salmon is FRESH. If you want amazing sushi (nigiri& sashimi is definitely better than their rolls so you can get the full flavour of the fish), visit this small shop and order at the counter!!

This is my second attempt at this place. Every places deserves a second chance or even a third. I was happy to do so. This time around, the sushi was at a decent quality and the rice was good. Nothing adventurous selection wise but ok sushi this time!

Stopped in for a bite when we were wandering around downtown. They have a pretty good selection. We got three rolls and all of them were good. Not a bad lunch option. It's a small space but the staff is friendly and the big window in front makes for good people watching.

All this with a sparkling water for under $30.00

The presentation SAS a little different from other ones we've done - they did it as several courses - sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, followed by dessert. The fish was fresh and well presented - we enjoyed every bite. Or server was friendly and knowledgeable - at one point, we asked him about sushi chefs, and why e seldom see female ones... He checked in with the chef and came back with a good answer... He definitely added to our night. We highly recommend!

We showed up on time for our reservation. The restaurant is dark, and sleek looking, so it could be a place for dinner or for drinks at the bar. We browsed the menu, and decided to go light and ended up trying the the following: - Edamame (with Furakake): Good. Soy beans can only be so different between restaurants. I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard. Did all the tight things, and timely, but not particularly friendly. Overall, it was an OK visit. Food overall was generally good quality, but very expensive for the quality and quantity you get. But I also recognize that sometimes you pay for ambiance, and you certainly do here.

Located on the 45th floor, you can get beautiful panoramic views of the city, including of the St. Lawrence river. Highly recommend stopping by to watch the sunset transition into nighttime. Now onto their menu- I was expecting a bit more food options, but they really only have light bites/appetizers, so I'd eat elsewhere beforehand. I ordered the Wagyu brioche, which was incredible, but I wasn't as impressed with the crispy hosomaki, which was overly salty and didn't have that much dimension of flavor. The drinks were incredible and innovative though, incorporating authentic Japanese flavors and three eras of Japan's history. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and accommodating, managing to snag me a much coveted bar spot without a prior reservation.

Definitely looking forward to coming back next time we're in town.

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

We were a little disappointed that they ran out of salmon so we couldn't order any salmon sashimi dishes. We got skewers which were absolutely delicious! We also ordered takoyaki and okonomiyaki but there was nothing special about those. Wouldn't really recommend the okonomiyaki either. Would definitely recommend trying the Shrimp Burger and the Salmon Calcium (salmon pate).
