The DTLA skyline views are incredible--watching the sunset turn into city lights while the movie started made everything feel so romantic and magical. We snagged a loveseat, which was super comfy for cuddling up, and the wireless headphones gave us crystal-clear sound without any outside noise interrupting the classic lines and soundtrack. The vibe on the rooftop is relaxed but lively--great drinks and snacks to enjoy before the film starts. Pretty Woman felt even more special in this open-air setting; we were both smiling and quoting lines the whole time. My girlfriend absolutely loved it, and so did I. If you're looking for a fun, memorable way to watch a movie (especially a rom-com on a date), this is it. Highly recommend-- we'll definitely be back for more screenings!

Getting to the theater can be a little confusing, but they do send you instructions before your visit. BE AWARE their email says parking is right across the valet for about $10-$12. Since it was dark, I mistakenly parked at the lot next to the $10 one, and that one was $20 (ouch). Don't make that mistake. When you walk through the valet, there is someone there to tell you where to wait. The doors open about a half hour before your showing. We were a little confused because we weren't sure if someone was going to come down and get us. There was a resident that scanned us up the elevator, and there were plenty of spots to lounge outside of the cinema area. We sat in front of the concession stands, and the valet from downstairs had come up and ask us and the other two couples waiting to move to the seating area closest to the elevators. It wasn't a big deal but I thought it was weird that we had to do that. Our tickets were for the loveseat, which comes with one popcorn per person. We watched LaLa Land (in LaLa Land), which was nice because there's also a view of the buildings in downtown. Seat was comfy, but I wish there were either cup holders on the chairs or perhaps a small table in between seats for your food & drinks. I HIGHLY recommend bringing a blanket. There are other reviews that mention they have heaters, however, this was not the case during our visit. I'm thinking they probably have them for the winter, but there were no heaters present during our visit. It gets rather cold, but it feels okay if you bring a sweater and a small blanket. I loved the concept of the headphones for the movie. They were excellent quality and had great sound. You can adjust it based on your liking. Also, all the seats have a great view of the screen. It's a pricey date, but it's worth it if you're looking for something different.

We checked in at the front entrance and took the slow-moving elevator up to the rooftop. It wasn't a huge deal, but definitely something that stood out. When we got to the top, we were asked to fill out a waiver on our phones--super quick and easy, but honestly something that could've been done earlier when buying tickets online. Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us. Tips: - Allow extra time for the elevator to the 3rd floor. - $20 parking lot across the street. - 1 Drink included, so grab one and make the most of it!

I haven't been here in years. So I decided to go with gf in tow, on a Saturday night, for 8:10pm…read moreshowing I did remember to come early to get a good spot to park. 39 minutes early is the latest to come. Otherwise you will be waiting in a huge line and may be fighting for a good spot, so you can be far away from the we*d smokers or smokers of any kind, if you are a nonsmoker like we are . Prices are still cheap. Only $14 for general admission (12 and older). Way better than walk in theater general admission prices. Pretty sure ticket prices are cash. So make sure you have cash for tickets. We came to see Mortal Kombat II. Which was amazing. I never saw the first movie. But you don't have to have seen the first to follow this movie. One reason I wanted to see this movie is Mortal Kombat II is my favorite video game (SNES) version of the MK video games. The best place to see an action movie is on the massive drive-in theater movie screen. Not Imax, etc. So we went here. Another great thing about drive in theaters is you can bring your own food and you can have privacy with your date inside your vehicle, if you know what I mean . Just have privacy glass. Because a family of kids can be parked next to your vehicle. If you want, you can bring chairs and sit outside your vehicle and watch. Which is also a great choice. Especially if you have kids. They will love sitting outside. If you do sit outside, bring a coat, blanket, etc. It gets cold at night. The concession is cheap af and not like walk in movie theater prices. For example, their large popcorn is huge. Yet its only $10 with taxes. We got ours with extra butter. They offer a lot of other good stuff too at great prices. But we only wanted warm popcorn with extra butter. I saw some raggedy ATM machines in there. Not sure if concession got them there so you can use cash to buy food. But I didn't ask as I already had some cash on me to buy popcorn. So make sure you bring cash for concession as well. Make sure you vehicle radio can tune to 90.1 FM and you can leave it on without it draining your battery and without parking/headlights being activated. It drives us movie goers crazy when some foolish person will turn on their headlights while everyone else is trying to enjoy the film. Also, if you need a radio for showing, you can buy one from them for $20 at concession. Great experience here. I love this place. Like I said, I havent been here in like 6 years. Last time I was here, one ticket paid for double feature. Which was a steal. Because after Mortal Kombat II, I was looking forward to seeing Michael again. Which we already saw at a walk in theater. But we were ready to see it again on the biggest screen ever. They dont do double features anymore. So if the website shows two movies, dont misread like I did. It clearly says: "TICKETS ARE FOR A SINGLE SHOW TIME ONLY." I was wondering why everyone was leaving after Mortal Kombat II was over . We stayed in vehicle until security drove by and told us they only do single features. We weren't the only ones he had to tell. Great experience here. Cant wait to see another larger than life movie here.

Somehow there was always one ingredient missing... the truck, the timing, or the friends willing to do it.Last night it finally happened.I convinced two of my guy friends to go with me -- one visiting from Missouri and one from Temecula -- and we were all ridiculously excited. We honestly didn't think we were going to make it because our movie didn't start until 11 PM, but we pushed through. We had a bonfire first, and right as it turned 11 and we were getting ready to leave, I tripped, fell, and sprained my ankle. Worst timing ever. But if there's one thing about me, I do not like bailing on plans. I said nope, we're still going. We were just going to be sitting anyway, all cuddled up in the back of the truck with blankets and pillows, so I powered through. I tried really hard to get comfortable, and even with the ankle situation, it was still such a fun experience. This one is definitely going down in the memory books. There's just something so nostalgic and special about a drive-in movie. It feels like one of those classic '80s activities that hardly exists anymore, which honestly makes me sad. I'm so glad we finally did it, and I would absolutely do it again. If you've been thinking about doing a drive-in movie night, take this as your sign. Do it.

Dubbed "LA's premier outdoor movie, food truck, and live music event series", this annual summer-long traveling entertainment circus (since 2012) made its way across various iconic venues throughout Los Angeles with its unmistakeable 3 1/2-story tall inflatable high-definition screen deemed the "biggest of its kind on the West Coast". A self-contained event, you were allowed to bring your own chairs, food, etc.. Pet-friendly with water bowls and treats throughout the venue, they tied themselves to the non-profit organization Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles and No Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) to help with pet adoption. Would this nostalgic return and revamped idea of the drive-in movie pull at my sentimental strings to return for more!? PURCHASE General Admission Ticket/Seat ($14.00 + fees) - Purchased online (priced higher at the door the day of the event), this was open seating, so first come-first served. Armed with a low chair (ABSOLUTELY NO TALL CHAIRS), blanket, cushion, and pillow to sit on just in case, I claimed an unobstructed spot center screen at the very top of the seating area. Tickets also gained access to food trucks and live pre-movie music performance. Below were other ticketing options (things brought were the same): 1. Fashionably Late Tickets ($21.00 + fees - online purchase only) offered a limited quantity of guaranteed open seating tickets in a reserved area at the front of the house that allowed you to arrive at any time (hopefully before the movie started!). 2. Kids 12 & Under Tickets (approx. $8.00 + fees) offered the same as "General Admission". 3. Groups of 10 or more had group rates available. Live Music - A four-piece male band from Jackson Hole, Wyoming named "WYO" played fun 80's alternative music that reminded me of Flesh For Lulu and The House Of Love from that decade which I was a fan of. With a minimal pre-recorded backtrack, I appreciated that they played their own instruments - true talent https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HdGGHe4SbGAcONOZA91WdQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE The online purchase was a breeze. There was excellent pedestrian and street directional signage to the main entrance of The Autry Museum https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YvykGmC-6ncXMnLX9JLRCg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Marked signs once inside led you where to set up camp, restroom area, etc.. Both audio and visual systems were surprisingly clean and clear. There were the customary long food truck lines akin to L.A. traffic without the bad drivers. There were no onsite ATM machines. Generally-speaking, everything was fine and ran smoothly. PARKING (FREE) Plenty of FREE parking at The Autry Museum and L.A. Zoo across the street. Another option would be to hire a driving service like a taxi, Lyft, or Uber, and there was a nearby bus station - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A large open-air grass field https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QvLGVWZmAHmiCZLCNiFYLA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, it was everyone for themselves as the gates opened and throngs of guests flooded in! Designated smoking areas were in the parking lot or front of the museum. Upon entering, you passed the food trucks and sponsors area, then the lawn, and finally the porta-potties on both sides of the screen. The stage was at the foot of the screen, but wished they had a camera that projected the performance onto the screen. Exposed to the elements, you heard random sounds from conversations, dogs barking, and vehicle traffic, etc.. The aforementioned gigantic movie screen was your TV while DJ Carter and the live band provided the music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Eat See Hear on the lawn of The Autry Museum was my favorite location because of its closeness to home, beautiful surroundings, and a ton of free parking. This concept was popular enough for others to imitate. The onsite staff were very charming and helpful. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $16.00; no tip required). Chicken Kabobs ($17.00): This was one massive skewer of thick pieces of nicely marinated juicy tender chicken along with an assortment of sliced green bell peppers, cucumbers, and onions served with a side of spicy dipping sauce. I surprisingly bought this pricey food item which thankfully didn't disappoint except for a lighter wallet. This definitely filled me up for the rest of the evening but probably wouldn't order it again https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=XSb87k8V1Jm2M9QFQ8nVDQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Seasoned Curly Fries w/Jalapeño Cheese Sauce ($8.00): A massive amount of curled spuds I swore the basket it came in was either bottomless or somehow never-ending! The cheese sauce had a nice spicy hotness to it but ran out of it halfway through my potato plantation which was fine since the fries tasted fine without it. With a nice crispiness in each bite until you reached the bottom where they were softer due to the moisture, not a bad meal at all; but this was a lot of fries to deal with for one person https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jGpOSdzS3xcrVAHv1AhH1A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. But once you arrived, the ticketing and parking staff, respectively, were friendly and helpful. The same could be said about the concession employees (there was a bar tent I didn't try), and directions to the restrooms were sufficient https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=6I83ppaDR1LdOP1daVViTw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Both audio and visual systems were very clean and clear. I didn't recall any onsite ATM machines. I did not go with a child's optimism to the Roadium, but I did hope to find oddities to engage my mind, trinkets to admire and imagine about, and in general find something that would be right for me at a bargain price. And the Roadium on a Sunday, provided me the opportunity to find all the previously mentioned items and things, plus it also help me get steps in, in a slow pace, while I absorbed the sun's Vitamin D. I am surprised to say this, like super surprised, but the item that most caught- really arrested- my attention was a picture that centered the country's current sitting president: Trump. In the picture, Trump has his head down, eyes closed, hands and fingers interlocked, and he seems to have a face of meditation, maybe receiving peace and/or knowledge. And behind stand a variety of historical and political powerhouses of the past, like Nixon, Reagan, Washington, Lincoln, and others that I could not recognize to name with confidence. However, all had their eyes closed, and had an aura of tranquility that also carried palpable notes of worry. What struck me the most is that the group, in tense serenity, included men and women of color. It is important to note that I clipped the picture, to give the reader or viewer the opportunity to collect their own thoughts and land their own interpretation. That got heavy. I also clipped a picture of quinceneras. One was dressed in Cinderella blue with a carriage, horse, and carriage handers were in the background, I thought it was A.I. generated but perhaps some people do have quinces like that, in fact I know they do, I used to wacth my Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. Getting inside the Roadium is hard on a Sunday. But apparently worst on others day because the Roadium has different vendors on different days and each attracts a different type of crowd. For instance, on the firstMonday of the month vendors from the Rose Bowl Flea Market come. Please know that I am recycling information that was provided to me by one of the vendors. Research, please to verify accuracy. However, she also explained that on Mondays, when the Vintage Vendors come, parking becomes nearly imposible to find, even on the street. On this day, it cost 5 dollars, the cashiers only accept cash, The place has trinkets, food, and finds, seriously, it is a cool walk to see, touch, and get lost, if that is something one can do- shop vendors with nothing you want to buy, but still find meaning in the seeing and touching. I had peanuts on this day, but they were special because they were freshly toasted. Like I got a few to try (both extra toasted and not so toasted) and they were still warmed from the machine that toasted them. The touch of a warm shell was enough for me to be impressed but the freshness was key. This vendor explains that sometimes the peanuts in the store are 10 days old, after they were first roasted. Again do research. I saw micro Mexican candy stores with some of the candy that really communicates non-tourist streets of Oaxaca. I also bought three shirts. One was 8, two other ones were three dollars, and I feel like they were honest finds. I took a video of a barbie like doll, not barbie, using a Segway, which I thought was a wink to the modern that made sense yet never seen. I also saw a Spiderman Halloween shirt. And I thought how weird. It was him siting Spidey like, and he was pumpkin orange with bats behind him. It was juvenile because it was Disney product from theri Halloween bash time. So this place does have what was one precious yet never bought. I can see how someone might get something today to use at another day, or simply, be creative and DIY stuff from the stuff they found here.
