We came out for Friday night roller skating at Melrose Rooftop Theatre to celebrate a surprise birthday with friends. It's a fun concept, but the experience left a bit to be desired. We checked in at the front entrance and took the slow-moving elevator up to the rooftop. It wasn't a huge deal, but definitely something that stood out. When we got to the top, we were asked to fill out a waiver on our phones--super quick and easy, but honestly something that could've been done earlier when buying tickets online. Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us. I came here for a brand event however I was stunned with how cool this location was. A rooftop theater and a bar next to it? Amazing! It gave a retro vintage feel and I loved that you can watch the sunset up here with a great view. I always enjoy locations where you can see most of West Hollywood / Hollywood and this is just amazing. The food from the restaurant was delicious and staff was welcoming. Such a unique and memorable place. Melrose Rooftop Theatre is one of those experiences that feels special from the moment you arrive. This event was definitely one of the weirdest experiences I've had in a long time. I was so excited to attend a movie screening here after seeing so many videos on social media. From beginning to end (purchasing tickets to the end of the movie) everything was just so irritating. It truly felt as if it was their first time putting on this event. When we arrived the vibe was a bit awkward. We're just waiting in a crowded small space and when they finally let people inside the screening area it was just a long line in silence. They finally put music on which made the vibes a little less awkward. We ordered our food and were told where our reserved bean bags were. We assumed we would get our drinks early at least which wasn't the case and thought or food would come towards the beginning of the movie as it started later than scheduled. It was a super windy night and the screen was moving like crazy, barricades were falling. We got our head phones and mine didn't work. I had to go back to get a new pair and that pair turned off 3x, so I went back to get another. The girl working was super nice but there was a man there and he made a rude comment to me which really upset me. The actual movie screening was a little off because of the screen moving so much and the bar was blasting their music - it was very distracting. We didn't get our drinks until maybe 9:30, and our food came at almost 10pm and the movie ended around 10:30. We also didn't get our dessert which is supposed to be included in the bean bag dining package. The burger and fries were good but I do not recommend this event, especially the dinner packages. Came to watch a movie towards the end of May because me and my bf have been wanting to check this place out for ages. We did the dinner for 2 experience and while everything we had was great, we realized the salad and dessert didn't make it to our table. Since it was part of the package and the total was around $130, I reached out to the company but they never responded even after a follow up. read more

Wasn't the best flooring to skate on lol but it worked out lol. No complaints about the Casamigos in a can. First time drinking and skating on a rooftop. Weather was also exceptional. And next door, the bar was lit. The atmosphere and vibe were all worth coming out for. Do yourself or yourselves a favor and go. Go on a date or with family and friends. You'll love it fasho fasho. $20 for a ticket to skate with drink included when you book or reserve on the BUCKETLIST APP. Drinks at the rooftop bar/lounge are about $20+. There is street parking , parking lots and a garage all within walking distance of this venue. $20 to park in lot. Around $4 every 15 or 30 mins. There was some missing info about our 2 cocktails but Bruce the manager on duty took care of it right away and even escorted us over to our seats for the rooftop screening -- The Holiday showing on that Friday evening. Tasty cocktails, tho a bit pricey but that's the WeHo vibes. There's valet parking but we found plenty of metered street parking -- 2 hour max @$2/hour, so we did have to move our car since we were there for about 4 hours given The Holiday was 2 hours 45mins long. Lovely evening watching a holiday movie "The Holiday" hehe under the stars. The only thing I would say is.... super loud music playing inside the bar/restaurant gets somewhat distracting while watching the movie on headsets. Not real ice, they don't add lubricant the synthetic flooring needs so you won't be able to skate, and even though they say it's a child event, they have no kids sizes for ice skating. Really fun experience that we will 100% do again. We got the dinner & movie package, which I highly recommend. The food we got was all good and the wait staff was really pleasant. The menu is short, but everything we tried really tasted good. I can't even say what I liked best because it was all good, but I know my family really like the churro bites that they brought out during the movie. Only thing that could probably be better is the seating during the movie. Be forwarned that it is bean bags, and some seem more full than others since some people were able to sit up more and I was really forced to lay down a little. Space is also tight, so bad news for the 6 footers out there. I, however, am no where near that so it was tight for me but livable. read more

i went to the screening of once upon a time in hollywood this past friday, 3/20. the movie buffered so much it was unwatchable. most patrons, myself included, ended up walking out. nobody made any announcements, and melrose rooftop theater never acknowledged this on their website or social medias. on top of the incessant technical difficulties, it was abundantly clear that they were simply playing the film off of amazon prime - but yet still charged us $20? it looked like the bartending staff was relatively in charge of keeping the laptop playing, so when there were issues (which, there were a LOT) it would take a while for anyone to notice. there was no one to speak to on site either because of this. i've tried reaching out multiple times, and their robotic answering machine refused to connect me with anyone over the phone. i will still be continuing to pursue a refund, and if i don't hear back i'll be contacting my credit card. this was my first experience with the rooftop theater, and genuinely i don't think i've ever had such a poor experience anywhere. the vibes were so cute and it could have been great if the movie worked and staff paid attention... read more

date night!! my boyfriend took me out to watch scarface and we got the dinner beforehand as well. we arrived an hour early but only got through appetizer and main course so dessert was delivered to our beanbags. the food was good but everything was fried so it became very heavy. each person gets 1 appetizer and 1 entree and dessert is split. we had the fried mushrooms and croquettes for apps, the burger and chicken sandwich for main, and churros for dessert. the burger was nice but the chicken sandwich was dry. the churros were a little burnt and lacking some cinnamon. now the movie: they had some tech difficulties and the movie was paused in the beginning. took some time to get it working again. the beanbags are very comfy but maybe a little small for taller people. it did sprinkle a little in the middle of our movie too but it wasn't significant. they give you individual headphones but the bar portion is loud and blasts music which can still be heard we paid $120 for the movie and dinner for 2 people (drinks not included). i wouldn't come again just because of the music being blasted and the food options were limited/all fried except for the taco option. but im glad we checked it out! read more

Finally, it got resolved (a radio frequency issue???). Fine whatever, movie starts playing (off amazing prime LOL), buffering every 10 minutes. Classical music from YouTube starts playing in the background?? We're all trying to get a team members attention - no sense of urgency. Then, my headphones die - I go to the back to get another pair, sit down, oh dead again!! Cute - go back and get another - the girl puts them on and starts dancing ????? Hands them over to me "hahaha sorry I just had to", alright LOL. Sit back down - 45 minutes in the TV deflates and falls over Everyone gets up to leave. Ask for a refund and no response anywhere. I went back today to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Not as great of an experience as the first time. For some reason the video was shakey. The movie lagged throughout, causing us to miss entire scenes. And then the laptop playing the movie died during the climax. And there was no employee present to help the audience fix it. I do think someone should be on standby. I don't currently have plans of returning until this is managed. 24 hour update: I was able to talk to the staff here and they did help resolve some of my frustration. I do appreciate their quick response to customer satisfaction. And I now have plans to go see another movie in a month and am excited to give it another try! read more

We had tickets to the holiday bar downstairs at EP+LP for a couple drinks & we tried both the holiday martini & holiday old manhattan. There's metered street parking generally available & all the bartenders and hosts are kind and helpful with stellar personalities. 4 stars for the outdoor movie vibe and experience! Overall it was a super fun time. Saw Mamma Mia and was late booking our tickets so we had to grab the dinner + movie option. Honestly dinner is a hard pass for me. It's a fun idea I just wish the food was better executed. We live in LA where amazing food is constantly at our finger tips. The food was mediocre to say the least. It's a prefixed menu with two options for starters, two options for entrees, and one for dessert. Let's start with the starters (lol) you get either a poké style ahi tuna w/ tostada chips to eat it or a salad. Now I don't like fish so I passed on that but my friend said it was fine. The salad had good flavor but I wish it was iceburg or romaine instead of frisée. The entree was meh. The pasta while yummy was nothing to write home about. The steak was BEYOND fatty. If that's your thing go for it, but let's just say it was NOT great in our books. Dessert was cheesecake and very yummy. Probably the best part but beware you will have to share. For some reason they have deemed it to be a 1 per every 2 people kinda deal? Idk seemed like they cheaped out on us there. The service was nice enough! But do beware that they charge $2.00 for water service?? I can pour my own water??? Also cocktails are $21. Even for LA that hurt. Now the movie set up is super cute and definitely worth going to!! Comfy bean bags, individual headsets, a insta worthy views/backgrounds galore. Beware concessions are pricey (but so is normal movies in general). Bring a blanket & even a pillow if you wanna get cozy. From start to finish, we had a great time! We decided to do the dinner + movie for 50 pp. Dinner included 3 courses, 2 options between the appetizer and the main course then a cheesecake to share. Choices for food were: Appetizer: Spicy Ahi Tuna w/avocado and tomatoes + Tostada OR Salad with golden beets, raisins, and some additional greens (Go with the Ahi Tuna) Entre: Rigatoni pasta with tomato sauce + basil Steak with French fries and a salad side (My preference and my boyfriends preference was the rigatoni pasta. The steak was pretty chewy and had a lot of fat on it but if you like chewy and fatty go for it) . Dessert: Cheesecake with raspberries (absolutely delicious, just sad we only got 1) I'd rate the dinner at 3/5 in general The best was the upstairs rooftop set up and views. Drinks and snacks are pretty pricey at $8 for popcorn, $6 for candy, $20 a cocktail, $14 for their cheapest wine, and food pricing at $12-20 (nothing fancy here - tacos, burgers, fries) . Cocktails weren't very strong we definitely needed a few to have a slight buzz. Overall though we loved the vibe, the food was good, and the customer service was on par. A fun experience that is probably best with general admission and no package more elaborate than that. I visited MRT on Easter Sunday, having purchased my tickets online. I finished dinner downstairs at Bombo around 7 and headed up, completely forgetting the doors to the theater side of the rooftop don't open until 7:30. Luckily, the hostess at the bar was so sweet and lead me over to a roped off area where I could hangout. At 7:30, I headed over. There was already a trio ahead of me, but I was able to snag the beanbags I wanted. GA chooses from whatever isn't already reserved--it seems like they seat reserved folks in the back and leave the front/front-middle for GA, which was actually perfect. It didn't feel close at all. I had some churros from Bombo and I don't drink, so I didn't miss the snacks or cocktails that were for sale. The prices seemed high, but movie theater-high--I think popcorn was like $10, but I'm not sure about portion size. The beanbags were clean and super comfy. Definitely bring a blanket! They charge you to use theirs. Overall, a super cute event space, fun for a girls or date night. read more

If you haven't been to The Melrose Rooftop Theatre, I highly recommend trying this unique outdoor movie experience. The theater is on the rooftop of the same building shared with E.P. & L.P. The Theatre shows your favorite classic movies until November. Entry starts at 630pm but the movie starts at sundown. While waiting, you can enjoy the spectacular sunset and the magnificent views of the city. If feeling hungry or thirsty before or during the movie, there's a full bar on site that sells some drinks and snack boxes. However, I find the prices a little steep so I would suggest grabbing a chicken sandwich for $10 as opposed to $6 popcorn. Or get the dinner and movie combo for a three course dinner at E.P. & L.P. As soon as you come in, you'll be handed with individual wireless headsets. You get to choose your own seats made of beanie bags. Some find it uncomfortable but I actually did like it. I felt like watching in the comfort of my own home slumped lazily in my couch. I went to see Stand By Me which I heard was a really good movie but never had the chance to see it before coming here. I actually was fortunate to attend an event here via Yelp* for a Tuesday night showing of 'King Pin'. Strange since I was around during this time for this movie, I never heard of it. Bowling and comedy? How did I miss out? Parking was easy (& less than what I had expected) right next door, and we made our way up, where we were directed to the left onto a different part of the rooftop where I've never been. Chairs were lined up facing the screen towards our right, and there was a bar on the left side behind the seats. We quickly grabbed two seats and ordered popcorn from the back. Moments later, we came back for the waffle fries. Yeah, drinks were not enough for us; we actually Eat... Seats were actually not too bad, and there were blankets which we were grateful for later on since a slight chill was in the air, even though it was still humid. The headphones provided had no issues, and everyone seemed to be content (meaning, not on their phones). Obviously some people got up and left during but this didn't distract from our visit. I would do another movie here (the very next night had one of my favorites, Ex Machina) but I'm glad I got to see this movie I've never seen before with a friend and fellow yelpers. Brilliant! 1. Great location. On left if traveling north on La Cienega between Bev Ctr and Sunset across from Fig n Olive. 2. Valet parking is in the same building complex. Enter on La Cienega. Easy and affordable $12, and much needed as the metered street parking goes fast and the surrounding neighborhood parking requires permits. 3. The views are awesome! Both from the rooftop bar if you divulge before or after the movie in some drinks music and people time. Great seating options, lots of heat lamps, good drink options and light food as needed. The views from the movie area are delightful too. Nothing like watching a huge projection screen surrounded by Hollywood Hills city lights. All I could say was "Priceless. Where else can you get all this plus great weather? I'm never leaving LA." 4. Drinks and snacks during movie. They have a bar in the movie area! Brilliant and nice break if you can't sit still too long. 5. Seating is first come first served so come at 7 when it opens and reserve your seat if you bought the dine plus movie tix. I arrived late and it was sold out and there were 12-15 seats open. Mostly in the very back near the door to the entrance which goes to the rooftop bar which is very loud so it can be hard to focus. But in the end it was ok. We arrived almost 30 mins late to the movie and still enjoyed it. The seats are bean bag like wide arm chairs minus the arms and feet. They give you Bluetooth headphones and a warm wool blanky. Super comfy but if you have back issues or trouble getting up from very low to the ground seats bring help. 6. Weather. I went on 5/14/18 and 6/7/18 and it was 64 degrees out. There is glass surrounding the rooftop, which helps, but wise to dress warm if you're one to get cold easily. I wore jeans, converse, a long sleeve warmly lined top, a Walmart type puffy vest and puffy jacket to cover my upper body and the blanket for my lower body. I was just warm enough to be warm vs fall asleep lol! I gather it'll be really nice as the weather gets warmer. 7. You can bring water or snacks if you have a nice size purse and need it (Eg diabetic, pregnant, etc) although if pregnant not sure how comfy those seats will be lol 8. Dinner. I skipped dinner and regret it. The building is several stories. First level entrance. Second was the dining section which was sexy dim and had great energy. Heard the food is actually pretty good specifically the chicken sandwich. Going to go back and eat before the movie! 9. Sound and tickets. Buy tickets in advance, it sells out every time. Dinner is worth the price as is parking. You get headphones that are small and if your hair isn't flush or you have a hat on it'll be hard to use them. Be prepared (Ie no hats, if you have dreads or braids a wig or a high bun it could be awkward.) 10. Kids/minors. It's 21 and over as they sell alcohol. read more

It's a great concept in the pictures they show make it look amazing but it's just not. NO popcorn or hot chocolate as advertised! Movies without hot buttered popcorn is just sacrilegious. Nothing HOT to drink on a freezing winter's night is also not smart. The blankets they offer you for $15 may offer some warmth on a 65° night but not a 50° night. When they hand you the headphones, they should explain them to you because when they weren't working at the beginning, it was just silly how the man from behind the screen had to come out and walk around and help us with our headphones after the movie started. I could hear the music from the adjoining bar just as much as the movie which was annoying. For the $25 for general admission and $20 to park, it could've been done much better. read more

I have been here 5 different times and this is the first year they changed things for the worst (so bad). They are now providing lawn chairs paired in two rather than the bean bags and no reserved seats. I paid for 4 seats and they said that I had no guarantee of us sitting together (we had to ask guests to change their seats to sit together). They also provided an extremely limited menu compared to the past, no popcorn and no hot chocolate like the time's before. Not to mention no heaters and the blankets are $15 (it was freezing outside for LA). The food at the establishment is below par anyways (around 3 stars on this app) but they charge a ridiculous premium. I am really sad because this was a fun tradition for my friends and I for the holidays but we will not be returning. read more

This place was well thought out. An amazing and different experience. We selected the movie and dinner package. We were assigned these comfortable oversized bean bags. They brought us burgers and rigatoni and a salad. For dessert the options were cheesecake or popcorn and candy. The view overlooked the city of LA and the hills. Absolutely beautiful. Your table has a QR code so you can order and pay for drinks and they are delivered to your seat. Everyone gets headphones so the you get a great sound experience. First time experiencing this venue. Easy enough to find. Parking on the street is metered and it's only for 2 hours then have to feed the meter again. You can arrive an hour before movie starts. We did dinner and movie. Its a small fixed menu..you get an appetizer, entree and desert. We got seated in a small area with tables and chairs, music was playing. Service was slow and inconsistent. Food was not good at all. We got the burger and chicken sandwhich..his was cold and mine was burnt. Drinks were overpriced...a tiny diet coke and beer was $20. Because service was slow We missed the beginning of the movie and didn't order dessert. They did bring the dessert (cold hard churro bites) to us during the movie. I selected the spicy tuna, rigatoni, and then the cheese cake for dessert (all pictured). I thought everything was fabulous, especially for the price! The movie was saw was A Star is Born. The food on the rooftop is pretty pricey: $8 for a thing of popcorn. However, we ordered a few things to share. Would recommend going for the cheeseburger, as they also come with the best waffle fries ($13). It does get chilly on the rooftop, so I would recommend bringing a jacket to stay warm. As soon as my friend and I walked up we were yelled at by the manager, BRUCE. We parked in the garage below and simply walked up the stairs to the rooftop, thinking that was the entrance since there was no signage indicating otherwise. We walked through and this guy BRUCE walks up to us and starts asking us why we're there, trying to check our IDs, and basically belittling us. He said "the entrance is at the front, which is clearly something you should know." How would I know that if I just parked my car and walked up the steps? He said us entering through there was "like entering the kitchen in a restaurant, so rude." Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone @ Melrose Rooftop! This place is definitely a cozy, romantic, relaxing date vibe. The weather was perfect since it was a hot day so a light jacket and a throw blanket were all I needed. Everyone was friendly, the setup and screen was easily visible. Bean bags are okay they don't stay up so you have to lay down no back support. We ordered a few sides, (popcorn, cris cross fries, fish tacos) all good. Now my favorite was the drink I ordered. It was a mix of vodka, raspberry, and other flavors with this whipped topping on it, Delicious! Although it was $22 I would and did order another one. This was my first time at the rooftop theatre and purchased the VIP tickets that came with dinner and reserved seats. The entrance to the theatre is by the entrance to the rooftop bar that is super cute and definitely has a hipster vibe. I didn't spend any time on that side as the theatre area had its own bar and snacks you could get. They also had a small menu to order food and they deliver it to your bean bags. The staff writes your name on a small table next to your bean bags that also come with a small blanket big enough to share with two people. Luckily, the weather was nice and cool so the blanket was nice to use but wasn't absolutely necessary the night I went. These events are hosted by Tinder so they have a cute neon sign that says, "Love At First Swipe" next to the bar. Headphones are also provided and can go up to a pretty high volume which blocks out most of the noise from the city and bar next door. It seems like we were sitting next to some vents that I could still hear through my headphones, but that didn't take away too much from my experience.
