So make sure you have cash for tickets. We came to see Mortal Kombat II. Which was amazing. I never saw the first movie. But you don't have to have seen the first to follow this movie. One reason I wanted to see this movie is Mortal Kombat II is my favorite video game (SNES) version of the MK video games. The best place to see an action movie is on the massive drive-in theater movie screen. Not Imax, etc. So we went here. Another great thing about drive in theaters is you can bring your own food and you can have privacy with your date inside your vehicle, if you know what I mean . Just have privacy glass. Because a family of kids can be parked next to your vehicle. If you want, you can bring chairs and sit outside your vehicle and watch. Which is also a great choice. Especially if you have kids. They will love sitting outside. If you do sit outside, bring a coat, blanket, etc. It gets cold at night. The concession is cheap af and not like walk in movie theater prices. For example, their large popcorn is huge. Yet its only $10 with taxes. We got ours with extra butter. They offer a lot of other good stuff too at great prices. But we only wanted warm popcorn with extra butter. I saw some raggedy ATM machines in there. Not sure if concession got them there so you can use cash to buy food. But I didn't ask as I already had some cash on me to buy popcorn. So make sure you bring cash for concession as well. Make sure you vehicle radio can tune to 90.1 FM and you can leave it on without it draining your battery and without parking/headlights being activated. It drives us movie goers crazy when some foolish person will turn on their headlights while everyone else is trying to enjoy the film. Also, if you need a radio for showing, you can buy one from them for $20 at concession. Great experience here. I love this place. Like I said, I havent been here in like 6 years. Last time I was here, one ticket paid for double feature. Which was a steal. Because after Mortal Kombat II, I was looking forward to seeing Michael again. Which we already saw at a walk in theater. But we were ready to see it again on the biggest screen ever. They dont do double features anymore. So if the website shows two movies, dont misread like I did. We had a bonfire first, and right as it turned 11 and we were getting ready to leave, I tripped, fell, and sprained my ankle. Worst timing ever.But if there's one thing about me, I do not like bailing on plans. I said nope, we're still going. We were just going to be sitting anyway, all cuddled up in the back of the truck with blankets and pillows, so I powered through. I tried really hard to get comfortable, and even with the ankle situation, it was still such a fun experience.This one is definitely going down in the memory books. There's just something so nostalgic and special about a drive-in movie. It feels like one of those classic '80s activities that hardly exists anymore, which honestly makes me sad. It's in a non-descript parking lot behind the Egyptian Theater. Pre-movie experience: I tried to order the tickets from their website but the ticket ordering site was down (I tried multiple times). Luckily, I was able to order from Fandango. They texted the tickets to me. Fandango works well and the processing fee was only $1.78. Also, the Fandango tickets can be exchanged. If you order from Cinelounge, the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. The price depends on the number of people in the vehicle. For 2 tickets to Godzilla vs. Kong, we paid $50 plus the Fandango fee of $1.78. I was surprised they started the movie pretty much on time w/o any previews or even an introduction. Location: It's a small parking lot in the heart of Hollywood. There was a sign on Las Palmas and someone greeted us at the entrance. The check-in was fast. We presented our tickets and were told to tune into 87.9 FM. Concessions can be ordered online and delivered to your car. There's a bathroom too. There was room for about 20 cars. I think there were two employees on site - one to check people in and the other to deliver snacks and drinks to cars. Concessions: They have their own line of gourmet popcorn ($8/bag) that's non-GMO, vegan and nut free, candy, cookies, and drinks (soda, LaCroix, CBD drinks). I placed an order for popcorn and it took a long time to get it even though they weren't busy. Mr. Froyo had to go ask about the popcorn. The bags are small (2 cups per bag). Curry popcorn was sweet (I thought it would be savory) but with interesting spices (e.g., cloves, coriander, cumin, turmeric, mint, fennel, anise, mustard, fenugreek, garlic, curry leaves, cayenne). Jalapeno popcorn was quite spicy. The popcorn was crisp and fresh tasting even though it was pre-packaged. Outside food and drink are not allowed, but they didn't check the car or ask if we brought food or drink. Sound/picture quality: These were okay. Our stereo worked fine. You couldn't hear anything w/o using your car stereo. Mr. Froyo thinks they should have had subtitles/closed captioning. In/Out: Getting in and out was easy and didn't take too much time. With plenty of support from local law enforcement and city traffic control, Rec Department employees dress up in costumes from the movie, take socially distanced photos with the kids, and circulate around spreading good cheer (and tonight, glow sticks!) The event also highlights local restaurants on Main, who deliver right to your vehicle when you phone order. Each car receives a goodie bag of toys and treats, and a $5 off voucher for local food delivery. You can also bring your own dinner of course, but it's nice supporting local businesses. Tickets are available on the El Monte Parks & Rec website, and because the event sells out, you pretty much need to buy in advance. Kudos to El Monte for hosting local families and supporting local businesses.

I did not go with a child's optimism to the Roadium, but I did hope to find oddities to engage my mind, trinkets to admire and imagine about, and in general find something that would be right for me at a bargain price. And the Roadium on a Sunday, provided me the opportunity to find all the previously mentioned items and things, plus it also help me get steps in, in a slow pace, while I absorbed the sun's Vitamin D. I am surprised to say this, like super surprised, but the item that most caught- really arrested- my attention was a picture that centered the country's current sitting president: Trump. In the picture, Trump has his head down, eyes closed, hands and fingers interlocked, and he seems to have a face of meditation, maybe receiving peace and/or knowledge. And behind stand a variety of historical and political powerhouses of the past, like Nixon, Reagan, Washington, Lincoln, and others that I could not recognize to name with confidence. However, all had their eyes closed, and had an aura of tranquility that also carried palpable notes of worry. What struck me the most is that the group, in tense serenity, included men and women of color. It is important to note that I clipped the picture, to give the reader or viewer the opportunity to collect their own thoughts and land their own interpretation. That got heavy. I also clipped a picture of quinceneras. One was dressed in Cinderella blue with a carriage, horse, and carriage handers were in the background, I thought it was A.I. generated but perhaps some people do have quinces like that, in fact I know they do, I used to wacth my Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. Getting inside the Roadium is hard on a Sunday. But apparently worst on others day because the Roadium has different vendors on different days and each attracts a different type of crowd. For instance, on the firstMonday of the month vendors from the Rose Bowl Flea Market come. Please know that I am recycling information that was provided to me by one of the vendors. Research, please to verify accuracy. However, she also explained that on Mondays, when the Vintage Vendors come, parking becomes nearly imposible to find, even on the street. On this day, it cost 5 dollars, the cashiers only accept cash, The place has trinkets, food, and finds, seriously, it is a cool walk to see, touch, and get lost, if that is something one can do- shop vendors with nothing you want to buy, but still find meaning in the seeing and touching. I had peanuts on this day, but they were special because they were freshly toasted. Like I got a few to try (both extra toasted and not so toasted) and they were still warmed from the machine that toasted them. The touch of a warm shell was enough for me to be impressed but the freshness was key. This vendor explains that sometimes the peanuts in the store are 10 days old, after they were first roasted. Again do research. I saw micro Mexican candy stores with some of the candy that really communicates non-tourist streets of Oaxaca. I also bought three shirts. One was 8, two other ones were three dollars, and I feel like they were honest finds. I took a video of a barbie like doll, not barbie, using a Segway, which I thought was a wink to the modern that made sense yet never seen. I also saw a Spiderman Halloween shirt. And I thought how weird. It was him siting Spidey like, and he was pumpkin orange with bats behind him. It was juvenile because it was Disney product from theri Halloween bash time. So this place does have what was one precious yet never bought. I can see how someone might get something today to use at another day, or simply, be creative and DIY stuff from the stuff they found here.

The rest of the swap meet was Bath and body items which was very well organized and they had a massive amounts and quite a bit of children's items and clothes some clothes not the best quality but just really good selection and kids grow out of things so fast they had some like little boutique booths, which the quality didn't seem great, but the prices were higher than I definitely expected, but the rest of the Swapmeet was like a big chunk sale plastic bags on the ground or on tables with just piles of stuff thrown all over them or random tchotchkes thrown on the ground and you had to pick through everything. It is big but unfortunately it was definitely not vintage days. We went on the day that they was designated for vintage days specifically because we weren't really looking for just junk or stuff . We won't be back anytime soon . We got an ice cream cone and one scoop was like eight dollars. They do have some fruit and vegetables, but they were pretty ripe and some of the items canned goods look like things they got left over from maybe a food bank or items they took from a food bank that they didn't use just a lot of stuff that seemed like it had been collected from free stuff left over from a yard sale or I don't even know it was not what I expected. It was my first time I've been wanting to go for years. My sister-in-law hadn't been since she was younger, and my husband hadn't been since he was younger. He said he remembered his mom taking him all the time.

It's laid out with dirt mounds so you can pull up on the mound & have the hood raised up a bit to see over cars in front of you. We went for the 9:30 showing - it was dark. They have trash cans placed between parking spaces so you can easily dispose of your trash afterwards. We walked over to the snack bar to get some mouth watering treats and left super psyched with their popcorn. It was fresh, hot and delicious. Yum! The movie, Venom, was awesome & the whole experience was fun. A lot of people had air mattresses in the back of their pickups or brought out folding chairs to enjoy the flick. If you've never been to a drive in movie theater I really recommend it. It's campy & a throwback experience.
