No Leash Valley Park was our second daycare / training program. We spend 4700.00 on training program in Chesterfield and had zero results outside sit and paw. Loki is now a different dog after working with Micheal for a couple weeks. We now ski and trail run off lead. We can have our front door wide open and he will hold his "place position". I now feel like I can trust his behaviour and there's no value I can place on that. He will be 2 in May and has become an ideal family dog thanks to all the care and training at No Leash Valley Park. read more

No Leash Needed really helps you understand how to interact with your dog(s) We learned of No Leash Needed about four years ago, when we adopted an 18-month old American Staffordshire Terrier. The previous owners lived across the street from the lady who trained the dog... and the trainer works at No Leash Needed. After a couple months, we visited and learned how she has trained our dog - we learned the simple words that he already knew and we were then able to communicate with him better, from dinner time to playing fetch and more. We have also had our dog visit NLN for doggie day camp - during-the-day stays, and for overnight stays. The staff is clearly capable and competent and loves dogs. And our dog loves visiting there... he has lots of fun. We are thankful that No Leash Needed helped us understand our dog and that it has great day services and overnight boarding. Last year our dog stayed here. She came home convulsing and unrelated, she was not given a cot but rather a blanket to sleep on. We asked for a bath and that didn't happen. And called and expressed my dissatisfaction. Fast forward to this year, we attempted to give them a shot again. Allison, the manager, decided to wait u til the last minute to call back with a salty tone and all but said she would rather our dog not stay there. I went to NLN on recommendation from a friend, I was very excited to see the facility. I have a 8 month old puppy who loves day camp and dog parks. When I arrived for my tour, there was a male trainer with long hair doing "training". I witnessed him yank on this dogs choke chain as hard as he could 3 times in a row. I audibly gasped, and the staff told me that the dog was OK. I also starting looking around and noticed all the dogs in training had shock collars on, which I've heard owners are not aware of this. The tour consisted of us standing in the front room for an hour. The woman refused to let us view the indoor day care area (which I find strange). Why did I need to come to a 1 hour long tour if we did not even get to see the area my dog will be all day or tour any of the building? Overall, why would I ever trust a facility with my dog if I am not allowed to even view the day camp area my dog will be spending hours in, along with no web cams. There were many red flags during this tour, the ceiling was falling from the roof in the "boarding" room, the inability to view the room where they keep the dogs, the obvious mistreatment of the dog by the long haired male trainer. There is some real neglect going on in this facility and it needs to be investigated. I felt so uncomfortable and could not run away from this place fast enough. read more

I have used No Leash Needed in the past so I know what I am talking about. We adopted Stella at the Humane Society and brought her in to your business for training. She was trained by Michael under your program where the owners are not there. After two weeks and $850 we were told that Stella had a mind of her own and she mostly responded when she wanted to. This isn't much for $850. I am very unimpressed with your training and would never recommend you to anyone. read more

I took my frenchie rescue to NLN (Hampton) recently for their 2 wk day training to work on some behavior issues. My olive is a stubborn one, but trainer, Jen was patient & attentive to her needs. They email you a report card each day & homework to work on each night that can be accessed via their website. She meets up with you and your pup at the end of each wk to discuss & demonstrate progress. After 2 wks of training, Olive blossomed, came out of her shell, was comfortable around the staff & other dogs & we were equipped w/ the techniques to guide her through her behavior issues. We've since taken her & my other dog for daycare which they both love. The staff immediately recognize her & when jen is out in the play area, olive has been known to follow her around. I only wish they had early drop off (open @ 7am)--not good for those of us early bird workers :-( read more

While looking for training options for my new, timid dog, I stumbled upon No Leash Needed and vaguely remembered seeing the huge building near 44 and 141, so I called to find out more. Basically, before you start training, you have to come in for a one-on-one training evaluation that is totally free/no-obligation. Elsa and I met with Shannon, the owner. I filled out some forms then we went over the issues we'd like to correct with Elsa, as well as their available training programs. Because Elsa needed some work beyond the usual obedience to help her conquer her fears, we agreed that day training would be the best choice. For two weeks, I dropped Elsa off at NLN in the morning before work and picked her up in the evenings. After the first week, I went in for my own lesson in which her trainer, Shawna (sp?), showed me how to work with Elsa on the things she'd been learning that week. OMG amazing! These people really know what they're doing and know how to coax the desired behaviors from a dog. After another week and another lesson with me and the hubby, we're so impressed with how far Elsa has come -- and how they've created the basis so that we can continue to work with her on new things down the road. As part of our day training package, we get a month of group lessons that we'll start this Saturday (with Shawna, yay!) In the meantime, Elsa's gone to visit once for day camp and had a blast. A few more little things: - I love how the people at the desk now know and remember Elsa and tell me how much they enjoy her. True or not, that's what every dog-mom loves to hear! - They don't stick to any one type of training. They decide what will work best based on your dog's personality and your own style. - For daycare, they pair dogs by personality, not just or necessarily by size. - Elsa (who is seriously so shy/scared around new people) loves them, breaking out in some big-time butt wiggles when she sees her trainers. - They even worked with me to get better manners from Elsa when riding in the car. They also do boarding though we haven't tried it yet. While we'd love to take Elsa there since she knows the place and it includes doggie daycare during her stay, for the long trip we're planning this summer we just can't fit it in the budget (especially since we have to board one of our troublemaking cats somewhere else, too). Maybe for a shorter stay another time. read more

Lina is amazing! We took our wild dogs to her for training and were not sure what the results would be as they are older and have not been formally trained before. Lina amazed us. Within days they were listening to commands, holding their positions, walking without pulling, and were better around other dogs/distractions. Our dogs and family have benefited immensely from the time spent at No leash needed. Lina and the team provided exceptional service and care for our fur babies. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with No Leash Needed (West). We took our dog, Charlie, in to take a tour prior to boarding him there for the weekend. This is a requirement for new customers. At the same time, we met with a trainer for a free evaluation. Charlie is a big baby. He's never been boarded before. He likes other people - kind of. He likes other dogs - kind of. He barks A LOT. The trainer made some recommendations and pointed out some of our behaviors that were causing Charlie to misbehave. I thought his observations and advice were spot on and we have since made some changes at home based on his suggestions. We boarded Charlie Friday and Saturday nights. Through no fault of NLN, Charlie did not do well. He was scared and wouldn't let any of the staff near him. NLN called me twice on Saturday to let me know what was going on, what steps they were taking to help, and to assure me that even though poor Charlie wasn't happy, they were taking care of him (as much as he'd let them!) They did everything they could to make him more comfortable. I felt bad for them having to deal with his diva-like behavior and apologized several times. They were extremely gracious. I don't think they could have done one thing more to make this a better experience for Charlie or for me. I will definitely be taking Charlie back to NLN, for boarding and hopefully for training. If your dog needs to be boarded or trained, I would recommend NLN without hesitation. read more

I feel so fortunate to have found No Leash Needed in Valley Park. If you have a high energy and pack-friendly social dog... This is the place for you. We started taking our puppy there at four months for daycamp after our neighbor referred us there. Now at nine months, she cries the entire way there and cannot wait to get out of the car. Being boarded there is a treat to her, which makes traveling or all day events around town so much easier for us. In fact, sometimes we let her go stay the night for fun. That is how much our dog loves this place and the staff. Speaking of the staff, they are friendly, courteous, and truly love these dogs. Everyone knows our puppy by name and indulges her and her excitement when she sees them. I am in love with this place. My 1 year old lab Rawlings LOVES going to day camp at No Leash Needed! He is such a mommas boy but the second we pull into the parking lot, he couldn't care less about me! This puts me at ease since it shows me that he truly enjoys his days spent there...and an added plus is that he comes home exhausted and ready for bed, making for a calm night at home :) The staff are always incredibly friendly and there has only been one time they were full and unable to take him for the day. We initially tried a day care closer to our home and switch for two reasons 1) we don't want to neuter Rawlings until he is done growing for health reasons and at NLN, they don't have to be neutered by 6-7 months like almost every other day camp and 2) they don't force the dogs into crates for a two hour "nap" meaning the dogs can play all day. Kennels are available for the dogs to go into IF THEY want to! Only thing I miss from our previous day care are the cameras. I loved being able to check in and see how my boy was doing...but I admit I spent more time doing that than I should have :) I would highly recommend NLN to anyone looking for a safe and fun place for their fur baby! read more

My lil 6mos pup went there for puppy preschool 3 days- First day seemed fine. Everyone was very friendly. 2nd day i picked her up and she was shaky, super dirty and smelled of urine and poo. Her face was dark and smelled of it too. Her paws & one leg smelled as well. It was dry. They handed her to me like I brought her in this way! I never could get a straight answer from anyone how it happened. One person said "they thought she poo/pee in crate. I said how long was she left in crate b/c she is potty trained. They left to ask. They weren't sure. 2nd person said "Oh it was probably from her being in day care.." I said "but day care is inside this week correct? This looks as if she's been sitting in filth for a while... " Next day, i asked if they could just give me a detail as to how long she was in training, how long in crate for nap, how long in day care...they didn't seem to want to give this info to me... they said again she soiled her blanket!? But no one could tell me how long she was in crate... One person told me she was taking out of day care & put in crate "because we didn't want her to get dirty.." and other person said "oh no he works front desk and doesn't know anything about this...she was in day care" I had noticed she was sitting so training seemed decent. I was just worried about the cleanliness of the facility and wasn't allowed to see day care area & Just seemed shady dealings to me, never could get straight answers from ppl.... I didn't think it was to much to ask how long she was where - to be added in lil vague report card woulda been nice....I canceled the rest of her time there. I was given a refund for days not used. They were friendly about it. The mgr. never asked why i was canceling tho which i found odd. read more

I took my dog Kiwi to agility training at the Valley Park location. I'd wanted to do agility with her since I first met her (she was my foster dog before I adopted her) because she is such an athletic, fit, and smart dog. Unfortunately, however, she has REALLY struggled with on leash barking at other dogs. She's got a bad case of reactivity and she's made every obedience class (and we've done a lot of classes at a few places) anywhere from unpleasant to nightmarish so I never felt like she'd fit into an agility class. After a long time with her, I was able to (kind of) manage her in-class barking fits so one day I spoke to the staff at Valley Park. I think I dropped in and spoke to some very friendly people and followed up with a call. Everyone I spoke to reassured me that plenty of dogs have reactivity issues during beginner agility and that we were welcome. They also told me that they weren't looking to cheat people out of class money so if Kiwi really didn't fit into class we could transfer our remaining classes into private agility classes. So, I signed her up. The trainer was very nice and seemed to know her stuff. She also liked Kiwi despite Kiwi's bad behavior. I think we did 3 out of 5 or 6 classes before I decided class was growing really unfun for me and everyone else, possibly including Kiwi. She lost all semblance of control when we came to the lesson that involved a very loud piece of agility equipment. She's not a big fan of loud noises under the best of circumstances. I told the trainer that I wanted to convert my final classes into private lessons and No Leash Needed was as good as its word. They let us convert the classes and were very nice about it. They gave us flexibility on when we could reschedule. We live in South City so we are a long drive from Valley Park, and with winter bad weather, I appreciated the fact that we weren't forced to make up the lessons in a very short or strict amount of time. I really enjoyed doing private lessons with her and I think Kiwi really likes agility. Before our final lesson, I called to see if we could bring our other dog. It was winter and they were both a little stir crazy. I said that I would pay for our other dog and I'd sign a release for her. Whatever they wanted, basically. Well, they wouldn't let us do this and I didn't think the reasoning made much sense especially when I explained that we were the type of people who spend money on dog classes (our other dog has been through 12 weeks of K-9 nose work just for fun, not competition) and that if they let us bring both dogs for Kiwi's lesson, it would probably result in our signing our other dog up for agility in the future. I was, admittedly, cranky by the end of this discussion. I was beyond shocked when one of the owners called and apologized. If they get any complaints, they listen to taped phone calls with customers so she listened to my call. She didn't disparage her employees or anything like that. She just said that what I was asking for made sense and that they could have used their discretion to approve it. I think it was just a case of an employee not feeling comfortable thinking outside of the usual guidelines. She offered to let us bring both dogs anytime for a short agility play session. I was and still am blown away by this level of customer service. She was super nice (and I apologized for my irritation with the employee) and I was just really surprised by such a follow up. I've never encountered anything like it, actually. We haven't taken her up on the free play time, but I still really want to. I'd also love to do more agility work at No Leash Needed. I just wish I could do it at one of the closer NLN locations! Let's get some agility in the City! read more

If you have a dog that needs special attention, or if you're a dog owner like me who needs to be trained too, I highly recommend No Leash Needed. The facilities are clean and inviting, the staff are always kind and pleasant and the in home visits and one in one's are priceless. Our 8 month old German Shorthaired Pointer did the group puppy class and then 4 weeks of day training and I can honestly say that the difference from start to finish was like night and day. Our super energetic puppy can now walk off leash and hold a sit, down and place, and she's just generally more polite and composed. The staff at NLN has been extremely helpful in answering all my questions and making sure we're successful with training at home long term. Layla also goes to day camp almost every day and LOVES it. Plus it's awesome that they share pics from camp so I can see what she's doing during the day. Awesome place, I have a boxer who has a lot of energy and I travel for work periodically. The previous place I went to, had all the dogs in one area, wheres this place divides them up by temperament and size. The staff who is extremely friendly loves him and I have never had a problem. I have had a great experience with the Doggie Day Care and training with Shannon at No Leash Needed. My Buddy loves to go to day camp-he's worn out after playing all day. The staff got to know Buddy right away- I was impressed when we first started going the front staff said his high energy needs should go into such and such group. As far a training, after taking the private lessons (that really focused on me doing a better job) and starting the group classes-I had a beautiful moment of having Buddy on leash where he saw a herd of deer- instead of dragging across the field like a ball and chain-Buddy looked at them then looked at me then as taught I praised him at the right moment- Buddy came prancing to me for his treat because he knew he made the right choice. We have been taking our dog to No Leash Needed in Valley Park for more than a year now. We frequently take her more than 2 or 3 times a week, which means we have a lot of experience with the staff and facility. Before going to No Leash Needed, we tried several other places for doggie day care. In our experience, No Leash Needed has been the only place we truly trust to watch our dog day in and day out. They are extremely transparent, honest, and forth coming, which is really important when it comes to trust. The reason I say those "words" is because our dog was injured at a different doggie day camp, prior to coming to No Leash Needed. That institution refused to elaborate on the specifics that led to that incident (and wouldn't show us the area where she was injured). At No Leash Needed, they show you the day camp area; they show you the kennels; they take the time to give you a tour of the entire facility so that you know exactly where your dog will play and stay. Other places don't do this. Moreover, they are very strict about which dogs can participate in camp, based on demeanor, and also have rigid policies when it comes to things like when it's too hot or cold for the dogs to be outside. All in all, they have always been very trustworthy, which is the number one priority for us when it comes to leaving our dog on a daily basis. In addition, in our opinion, they have the best facilities when it comes to day camp options. As an example, they have a huge turf field and a place for dock diving in the summer. Our dog is the type of dog that needs these type of activities, and we simply can't get it elsewhere. Bottomline is we've always had a great experience at this place. It's the only place (that I've found) where I can drop my dog off in the morning and feel as confidently as possible that my dog will be in great hands. Accidents can always happen, but I've always trusted the staff at No Leash Needed. They haven't let us down yet. read more

I have been taking my Great Dane to NLN in Valley Park for almost two years now. I am always bragging to other dog owners about this facility and the staff. It's the best thing I could have done for my dog and her energy level. She plays hard with her 4-legged friends and comes home tired and mentally balanced!
