Any Husky owner dropping off their pet for a bath, knows the struggles they may encounter at some groomers (i.e., some refusing to bathe them, cancelling your appointments with no explanation). However, the staff here have never made me feel any concern for my girl, and at pick up she is fresh/clean and completely dry. She gets also gets a report card, and the staff lets me know how well she did. They offer text notifications for pick up, which works the best. She is always so excited when she knows she is going there "talking" all the way and can hardly wait to exit the car and enter the building. I think this ongoing contact is important if you are going to board your pet, so the mere act of boarding doesn't traumatize your dog. Many dogs have trouble adjusting to a new place no matter how luxe and may feel abandoned. Mine knows I will be back for her. Love this place and the training. I was out of the state for NINE DAYS and took my 20 month-old Cavapoo there to be boarded for the entire period. they sent me photos to keep me updated on his stay. I thought everything was going okay until I began to notice that my pup was being walked on rough gravel every day 4 times per day. Not only is that surface rough but it also holds heat! They advertise these lush green spaces that the dogs run and play in but nothing could be further from the truth! My puppy was photographed once being walked on a grassy surface, while the rest of the time he was photographed on the rough rocky surface. I know he wasn't walked in soft areas because the pads on the bottoms of his feet were smooth and soft before his stay and now they are rough and crusty from his walks on the rough, hot surface. if you care about your pet DO NOT take them to KENNELWOOD PET RESORT - Mason Lane. They are obviously not interested in the best interest or comfort of our pets. Thank you. read more

Please please avoid this location. And possibly the others as well.... Took our pet in. Paid for bath, grooming, and de-shed treatment. Didn't receive the proper grooming , and they were given detailed instructions! Charged us in full for it. Also did not get the de-shedding we paid for. Dog is still shedding everywhere! Worse than before. Our pet is still sliding on the floors because the groomer did not trim paw fur as asked. As clients , nobody should have to go BACK to a groomer 48 hours after we left and leave the pet for an additional 8-9 hours to have the error of the groomer corrected. Staff was very rude and not accommodating other than the day they took our pet in. They're very professional at the front desk. However, the managerial staff is not. They don't care what hoops the client has to jump through to get a simple thing fixed. Once they get you, they don't complete the job. Very unfortunate, as we have been going there with 2 of our many dogs. Shame on us! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. They offered to refund the "nail trimming". Never offered a date they'd be available for us to come in. They said we should have asked. In other words, they won't offer a date to come in unless you ask for it. Seriously!!!! That should have been covered along with an apology during the initial conversation with them!!! So easy to fix! And being near Christmas, it probably wouldn't have been for weeks from now. Which doesn't fix the initial problem at all! They obviously cannot handle any legit complaints they receive. Sad that nobody wants to own up to their mistakes anymore. Truly a shame. But avoid this business at all cost!!! Thankfully they offered a full refund. ( we will see if that actually happens)....But they will lose alot of clients as I will be sure to inform friends and family of this horrible experience. Be warned. Sure hope nobody else has to go through such a long arduous process which could have been rectified immediately. They didn't return phone call for over 2.5 hrs. Just said the mgr and the groomer were off. What a coincidence!!! Rude, unprofessional and unwilling to assist. Staff talks over you (and then denies they did), while you are asking questions which they don't answer in a direct way. They go around and around and never answer exactly what you're asking. Some customer service training is needed here ..... Sadly it's a sign of the times....wonder if customer service will ever be the same at places like this. Told them we will never be back!!! What a relief!! Having read the other reviews, we realize we should have read them before we went back. Be SURE to read the reviews for this business. It's worth your time. I understand they're under new ownership .... My, how things have changed there! Extremely disappointed. There are many great pet groomers in St. Louis. Amazing staff! I recently got my first puppy and wasn't sure what to do about training. There are so many different options and some are super expensive. I figured I would give Kennelwood a shot because its nearby where I live and reputable. I went in for the 30 minute eval with Greg and he walked me through so much helpful information on the different types of training. I will be doing the puppy day camp but my puppy hasn't had his final shots yet so Greg came over to the house today for a private 1-on-1. It was so helpful having him in the home and going over the different things I want to work on. He was so professional and a wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend this for someone who wants to focus on a few specific areas where you can improve the relationship between you and your dog. We dropped off our two pups today for grooming knowing that they would need to be spot shaved because of some matting. However after 7 HOURS of waiting for them to be ready, we were given two completely shaven dogs that had AWFUL cuts around their faces. it's like they didn't even brush them or anything. I have never seen my dog with such a bad cut. Lisa and Christine completely botched my beautiful doodles. Cindy normally cuts their hair and does and amazing job but sadly they probably won't be going back to her because of how awful this is. read more

We have boarded our dog at Kennelwood three times now, and I am impressed with the care he receives there as well as the communication that we receive during his stay. I truly appreciate the updates and "report cards" that come with each visit. The staff here also respond so well to problems with other dogs should they arise. We absolutely love Kennelwood. We took our lab there for grooming and they were fantastic. He recently passed away and our 6 month old puppy has separation anxiety since that happened. We dropped him off today and explained the situation. They were great with him and said he was a good boy. They took their time with him and made him feel comfortable. We just dropped off our dog who is a mutt. We don't know what kind of breeds she is mixed with to the point that literally everyone tells us something different. Today ten minutes after dropping her off we get a call that she isn't allowed back because she is a possible pit mix. That is ridiculous. We have had PURE BREED pit owners tell us "of she has a little put in her" to "oh no there is no pit in her" ... if owners of the breed can't make a decision how can you judge it? This kind of discrimination is horrific coming from a dog friendly, dog loving establishment... clearly you don't love all dogs otherwise you'd stick up for this breed. Your safety rules are a joke... for the safety of your staff and dogs.... then do a day temperament test not a breed restriction or a possible breed restriction. read more

I dropped my dog off at 8am and came back to pick her up at 5:15pm and she was still not ready and told that the grooming would take another 30 minutes because I was told she was older and apparently that effects the grooming how? ridiculous. BEWARE!! Would give negative five stars if I could. Requested our dogs to have their hair cut on their legs and lower torso and not to touch their faces. The groomer cut the hair around their faces as well. Additionally, when we took our dogs home, they were scared stiff to eat anything or take any treats which is totally unlike them. We have had an excellent experience with Kennelwood. We first brought our dog in for training at this location even though we live in south city because our vet recommended them. We started with day training. The staff and trainers were always so helpful and friendly. After a couple of days when we came in for drop off and pick up we didn't have to tell them our dog's name, they already knew who we were and his name. Being first time pet owners, we were determined to give the baths and brushing on our own. But things were getting busy with the holidays and I wasn't sure if our dog would get his bath on time. So when I dropped him off for training on a Saturday, which is probably one of their busiest days for grooming, I asked if they could squeeze him in when he was finished with training. They were able to get him in and he looked so much better than when we were giving the baths and brushing his coat. The new plan is to do it ourselves once a month and take him to Kennelwood once a month for grooming. My husband and I had a vacation planned for shortly after our dog was to finish training and had already arranged for my parents to watch him. Due to the experiences we were having though, we changed plans and had him stay at Kennelwood since we knew he'd be getting great care and be around other dogs. Then while we were on vacation, I was missing him terribly but couldn't call myself to check on him. So my mother called to check in and not only did they tell her what the notes were on how he was eating and how the extra training was going, they also went back to check on him while she was on the phone. I truly believe they care about our dog and want him to do well. We will continue to take our dog there and are going to send him day camp on a regular basis. I am extremely happy with them and would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

I boarded my dog at this location for 7 days just recently. I regret not having read reviews prior to picking this place. This place is HORRIBLE. My dog lost 4 pounds in s week. She is used to boarding and this has never happened. I paid the extra 20 dollars for daily play date and requested pictures to be sent daily, at least one. They never sent a single picture. I spoke to 3 different people and nothing. I doubt they took her out at all. The day I picked her up I showed up unexpectedly. As soon as I walked in this 2 girls started looking at each other . One said I could go see my dog right away. The other one said your dog is not ready. I said whet,? Not ready? She said : she is being cleaned. They made me wait. Then someone brought my dog that supposedly was being bathed . My dogs eyes were half way shut. She could barely walk . This people drugged my dog. I took her to the car and she slept all the way home. CRAZY!!! Her bed was disgusting. Poop smear everywhere. This idiots never took my dog out to poop. The bed had poop encrusted and it looked like someone had tried hard to wipe off. I had to throw it away. My dog slept for the next 3 days non stop. It took a few days for her to be back to normal. What do this people do to the dogs.....?????? My dog NEVER goes in the house, or on her bed. She is 9 years old and this idiots made her go on her bed because they FOR SURE NEVER took her outside to pee or poop. Please don't EVER leave your babies in this place. Another weird thing I noticed is that once you get in there they always have a dog at the entrance that never barks and hardly moves. I noticed 2 dogs , different dogs. Like they have been given a tranquilizer or something. Horrible. After this happened and I have commented to people, lots of them had said that they ve heard bad things about this particular location: Kennelwood on Mason Lane. read more

We took our 15 week Goldendoodle, Charlie, here for training/boarding while we were out of town for 3.5 days. Nicki was our trainer and you can tell how much she worked with Charlie. When we got home, we had a completely different puppy. He was patient, he made eye contact when you said his name and he gladly did the "climb" on his pet bed without hesitation. We were so nervous leaving our new puppy, but the staff here is so caring and they treat your pet as if they were their own. Our three dogs stayed at Kennelwood during the birth of our child. Well before this, we ensured that all dogs were up to date on all vaccines so there would be no issue. Several days into the stay, Kennelwood called us to say there was a mistake made by our vet and they needed flu vaccines. As I spoke with Kennelwood - from the NICU - they offered to take the dogs to get vaccinated. I asked them not to as I wanted to first speak with our vet to make sure there was in fact an honest mistake made by the vet (which there was) and that the dogs needed to get re-vaccinated. I asked Kennelwood to let me get back to them, as my hands were full with my newborn daughter in the NICU...and without my consent they made an appointment for my dogs to get re-vaccinated. So, rather than being able to clear things up when I was able to, I had to deal with multiple phone calls with the vet and Kennelwood from the NICU which was entirely unnecessary. Kennelwood could have handled this many different ways, all of which would have been better than they did. I will certainly never go back. read more

Wanted to let everyone know how impressed I am with this location. The front desk staff are all friendly and very efficient in getting you and your pet checked in and out. I'm currently using the training that they offer and can't say enough about how impressed I am with how it's going. Nicki is the trainer that my 6 month old puppy, Gracie, and I are working with, and she's absolutely wonderful. She's worked with Gracie for 10 days now, and I'm amazed at how much my baby girl has learned. She's also become more focused and calmer (she was a bit cray cray). Looking forward to continuing to work with Nicki for the next couple of weeks. I feel like my bond with Gracie has really grown, now that we're taking part in the training. We have been taking our dog to kennelwood for years for both boarding and day camp. They recently increased their rates on day camp and the percentage increase is outrageous. It went from being $20/day to $30! And they didn't notify their customers of the increase. We were buying multi-day packs and they only told us after we ran out and had dropped our dog off. Letting us know we owed $30 at pick up!! I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the ownership of this company. I am sure they will be losing many loyal customers because of this. read more
