This place is great for a nice cheap meal after work or school if you're on the area or if you just want something on the cheap. I basically stick to the veggie or chicken eggrolls the fried rices. Their chicken wings are also pretty good and so are their dumplings. No Pork Halal Kitchen has always held a special place in the Muslim community's heart for being that one place where you could actually get takeout. Pricing is on par with regular takeout places as well. My family has been ordering wings, and fried half chicken with fried rice for years. It's solid and consistently so good and so bad for you. As of late, I have been trying some other things on their menu with relatively good results. Aside from chicken with brocolli, and some dumplings, their best dish has to be the general tso's. Man, that stuff can fill you up forever. Order a quart and just save the leftovers for later. I'm tempted to leave it for a sandwich. God I feel so fat right now. If you have a lot of hate towards pigs then you will love this place. However, this is a place where the cashier will place your change onto the counter instead of giving it back to you in your hand despite originally placing the money in the cashier's hands. The place is pretty compact so there isn't a lot of room to maneuver around especially when it's crowded. The chicken wings taste like dry garlic wings, and the fried rice is ok. I wouldn't recommend any of the fried food if you're a fried food lover who is looking for something savory, but on the other hand the things that are cooked/steamed are pretty darn good. I don't usually consume all of my Chinese food right away, so most of the time after 3 hours or more the food will start to smell rotten which tells me that the ingredient used were stored in, or has been sitting out for a very long time. However, this wasn't the case for the food that I ordered from "No Pork Halal Kitchen" which makes it seem that their ingredients are very fresh and reliable. read more

I've been indulging on No Pork Halal Kitchen since I was a wee little one! It's my go to Chinese takeout. The flavor is unlike any other Chinese takeout I've had and I can't complain that I've ever had anything unappetizing. The chicken Lo Mein and the Sesame chicken are usually the only 2 dishes I order from takeout and these guys have the best I've ever tasted. Their fried rice is a notch above everyone else's as well. It's average Chinese fare in my opinion. Won't venture into any specialty dishes, will get the lo mein or friend rice with wings and call it a day. It's ok, nothing to write home about. They have been around for decades, when halal wasn't even part of the vernacular as it is now, so my family came here for halal food that wasn't desi. No Pork Halal Kitchen is cheap, but hardly quality food. My sesame chicken ($6 for a small) was pretty mediocre. It was just a huge mush of chicken and rice. Individuals pieces were indistinguishable. The fried beef wontons ($2.75) were heavy on the fried, light on the beef. I threw them out. I had high hopes for this halaal chinese place, which I had heard so much about (and had read the NYT article as well). Though the service was friendly, the food was not good. I ordered the chicken manchurian and the schezuan beef. The chicken had very little flavor, and the meat was not good. My beef was undercooked to the point that I did not feel comfortable eating it. Also this is not a great place to dine in, especially if you have multiple people in your party. There is very limited seating. Because I have heard good things about the place, I will try to give it another shot, but so far, my experience has been worthy of only 2 stars. All of the fried fare is pretty good. The sesame chicken is definitely my favorite of all the menu items. The Lo-Mein was slightly below average but huge portions. General Tsao's was about as good as the sesame. The beef broccoli was horrible. The beef was chewy, fatty, and not flavorful, and the broccoli was way over cooked. After I tried that I never went back to non-fried dishes here. I will say that all the dishes taste pretty similar There is no real noticeable difference between General Tsao's chicken and Sesame chicken here. read more

This place is pretty neat considering that it's the first hala and Chinese place I've ever been to. There's a pretty large menu and it was super busy when I got there which proves it's popular. Prices are average compared to the many Chinese places around NYC. There's about 6 seats which isn't much to offer if you have a lot of customers and there's no other place around to sit and eat unless you live nearby. I had chicken fried rice and it tasted ok, it didn't have much taste to make it stand out but with a bit of soy sauce it has a more silky taste. Like most other Chinese take out spots its to the point, bring your cash and your appetite you will not be disappointed! To my knowledge its family owned and operated. If you don't have any dietary restrictions and you're going here just because of the reviews and the busy line outside then here's the jist: I got their fried chicken wings with no pork fried rice. It was really good, I love the fact that they put an egg mixed into the fried rice. Overall the food has a bit garlicky taste to it. If you love garlic then it's really good otherwise I guess it's not. Food isn't overly oily. Wings could be bigger in size, but otherwise pretty good. Not as crispy as your typical Chinese food place but good enough. On a typical day during rush hour, this place could get really really packed. So be warned. I love the food here. It's warm and delicious and there's so much variety. You can find all the typical dishes of "Chinese" food, but without pork. The service is fast and the workers are friendly. The only drawback is that it's not very restaurant-like. There are two tables crammed in a small area and it's uncomfortable to eat in the restaurant itself. I've been to the "No Pork Halal Kitchen" a few times, and I am always satisfied. It is a fast food joint, as there are only a few seats to eat, but with restaurant quality food. My wife and I were very impressed with the vegetable Lo Mein and chicken rolls as an appetizer. They have an excellent homemade ice tea that will not disappoint.
