Our 12 year-old miniature Schnauzer, Coco, has suffered from pancreatitis for years, so unfortunately we know the warning signs all too well. His latest flare up happened on a Sunday, forcing us to take him to the emergency vet clinic. As usual, they ran tests and prescribed the standard medications that normally have him feeling better within a day. This time, however, things only got worse. By Monday, my husband and I decided it might be time for a fresh set of eyes and a new veterinary clinic. After searching online, we came across Houston Veterinary Clinic ,the only AAHA accredited clinic in Houston County. After reading the reviews, we decided to give them a try. From the moment we called, we felt reassured. We explained what was going on with Coco, and due to the extreme circumstances of his condition they were kind enough to fit him in that same afternoon. When we arrived, the front desk staff greeted us warmly, and we only waited about five minutes before being seen. Dr. Knox was everything you hope for in a veterinarian , knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and incredibly thorough. He took the time to carefully evaluate Coco, explain the testing process, and discuss a treatment plan along with recommendations for his recovery. What truly stood out to us was the level of care and dedication he showed. He even gave us his personal cell number so we could text him with any questions or concerns regarding Coco's condition or treatment. That level of compassion is rare these days. Most importantly, with Dr. Knox's help, Coco was feeling noticeably better almost immediately after his visit better than he had in days. Seeing our sweet boy finally comfortable again was such a relief. Dr. Knox followed up the next day by text to make sure the treatment was working. We will continue using this clinic for Coco's care moving forward. If you are searching for a veterinary clinic that truly treats your pet like family, I highly recommend this family-owned and operated practice.

My ex husband and I took our sick cat to see Dr. Henke and we were told they needed to keep the cat overnight and give it fluids. There was no discussion of money or an estimate provided at this time. The next day, they called me and I went back to get the cat and was told it was going to be like $360 since they kept it overnight and gave it fluids. I was shocked at this cost, and incredibly embarrassed because I did not have that kind of money at the time. I asked about making payments, and Dr. Henke said I had to pay in full or they would keep my cat. I told him I didn't expect it to be so much money, and in response he yelled, "well I didn't expect to get stiffed today!!" I was mortified- this was in the lobby with other customers and staff present. I called my mom and she was able to bring a check later that day so I could come back and get the car. Dr. Henke made me feel like I was completely worthless and it was completely uncalled for- I always planned to pay. Hopefully their current process includes discussing cost up front so people are aware. I would never recommend this vet- he may have skills in his field but he is a bad person to humiliate someone intentionally. Staff offered apologies for him when he stormed off, indicating that they had seen this behavior before.
