The Noble Kitchen is one of only two places in Brunswick that combine a restaurant and good clean rooms in one place that was open on nights I wasn't working. Since we stayed at the hotel, we came for breakfast and it was very good. I had the Make it a Plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and home fries. The eggs and bacon were very good. Also ordered an orange juice which came in a different looking glass like a yogurt parfait container. My partner ordered the breakfast sandwich and said it wasn't dry and very tasty. We rolled in to Noble Kitchen + Bar at the end of happy hour. I got a spritz that was overly sweet for my tastes. Next, we ordered the bread and butter, which was so dry that you had to slather it in butter for it to be edible. Zero chance I would eat that again. That being said, the wood ear mushrooms which came with polenta were quite good. We shared the short rib mac n' cheese, which was an odd dish. It was more of a pasta dish that had some cheese, sad pieces of short rib and a topping that tasted almost like tamarind but is apparently a "stone fruit chutney?" I cannot recommend it. We ended the evening with the sticky toffee pudding. We love this dessert and always like to try it when we see restaurants have it. I have never had anything like their sticky toffee pudding before. It is full of almonds, as well as topped with them. Very dry. It's more of a dry almond cake that they put some carmel on. We only ate a couple of bites. Yikes. All in all, the only thing I would eat again are the mushrooms and I can find better mushrooms elsewhere. read more

Had dinner with friends at Noble Kitchen & Bar tonight. The restaurant is upscale, clean, and comfortable. The service was a bit slow, but it was nice to not feel any rush. I tried the scallop dish, and it was excellent. The others at my table had fish and chips, and all were pleased with their dishes with one exception- the food was much too heavily salted. Dinner was a bit pricey, but we had an overall pleasant evening. read more

Delicious dinner! Great menu variety & beautifully plated. The indoor dining room's nice jazz set the tone, yet at the perfect level so you can still hear your friends. 1. Mushroom appetizer is a flavor bomb! 2. Both salads were lightly dressed w/ fresh ingredients 3. Rack of lamb & ribeye cooked to perfection w/ inventive sauces that aren't gloopy. 4. Chocolate verrine is like a pot de crème. Fantastic, & the right amount of sweet, but not so much that your teeth ache. Our server Starlette was very professional, knowledgeable, & friendly. Spacious outdoor patio is a pretty spot, w/ some tables under cover. Noble is inside the Brunswick Hotel, a super cute property. Sat at the bar on New Years Night (not NY eve). Bar service was great and attentive - awesome banter amongst the bar staff, servers, and chef. Food and drinks were great - Flatbread, Fries, Short Rib entree and Cheese raviolis w/ sage, mushroom, and chive were all delicious. We decided to spend Thanksgiving here this year. Second year in a row. Last year was good, which is why we decided to return. Well, this year was not good. The turkey was overcooked and weirdly cut extremely thick (3/4" - 1" thick). There was no turkey gravy...just an "au jus" which was thin and lacking flavor. The buffet was super basic (considering the price) and didn't include any appetizers (cheese, deviled eggs, etc) and the desserts were super basic and boring (again considering the price). They also offered ham, which was literally incinerated and again weirdly thick cut. I took one bite and that was it...super dry. I got the feeling they just wanted a money grab on this one...$75/pp for crazy basic and not well executed. Not going back. The staff was excellent. Food: I got the pork belly hash and a sticky toffee pudding. The hash was surprisingly spicy. But the sweet potatoes and eggs helped balanced the dish. The sticky toffee pudding tasted good but the flavor was overwhelmed by the taste of the oats that were sprinkled on top. The oats added a bit of texture but it wasn't worth not being able to taste the toffee. The "toffee" was also more of a butterscotch than a toffee. Overall the food tasted good but was served in small quantities. You could easily order an appetizer, main, and dessert and finish them all. Service: The service was the biggest problem here. There were five to ten total tables, 2-3 people each, and everyone was sitting around waiting for service. I saw at least 3 other table stand up to go find someone to help them throughout their meals. Ambience: The hotel looked nice but the glassware on the table smelled. The water we were served had a concerning amount of stuff floating in it. All of the tables had a dead rotting centerpiece that was starting to smell from the rot. read more

I'd like to start off by saying our waiter was AMAZING. He was stellar. Our food was mediocre. Was definitely not worth the price we paid. The mushrooms tasted like it was drenched in white vinegar. Worse was when we sat out side by the fire to enjoy our drinks and at 8:45 pm a waiter came out to turn the fire off, he closed everything down. So disappointing. This is a town that is only open a few months a year. It would be nice if it was open a little longer during the summer (mid-June) so we and anyone else could enjoy the evening. Great service, great drinks, and great food made a great night. Russell, Todd and Allie were so hospitable and made our visit to Noble more than a meal, they made it an experience. When we had questions, they answered, when we made jokes, they laughed, and most importantly the fed us well. The staff was very knowledgeable about cocktails and cuisine. Special shout out the the chefs in the back killing it! The lobster fritters were to die for-I could use more of those in my life. Can't comment on quality of the pricey food since host/server waitress actively avoided seating my party! Arrived around 8pm on a Wednesday with five people. Restaurant mostly empty. Server/hostess was not pleased to see us. After asking us if we had a reservation (we didn't), she told us they'd just switched to a limited bar menu. We said bar menu was fine. She shuffled around some papers and claimed she couldn't find said bar menus. Then she ran off saying she had to get back to helping her customers. We told her we'd be happy to wait for table when she returned. We stood in front for 10 minutes waiting. No only acknowledged our presence. We finally just left. A very bizarre restaurant experience. (...Having worked in a restaurant the only rational explanation I have is that she didn't want to serve us because we arrived at 8pm and she wanted to cut out early. But since the restaurant doesn't close until 9pm that is quite unprofessional.) read more

Spent night in Brunswick Hotel which houses restaurant and considered having dinner there until I read the bad reviews. Stopped in after dinner elsewhere to have a cocktail before returning to room for the night and the vibe was unwelcoming from the start. Took seat at empty bar to be ignored by two staff members chatting, then when they finally chose to recognize they had a customer , reminded me first that it was 820 pm and they were closing at 9. Staff hustling around to set up a breakfast buffet for the hotel the next morning clearly only thinking about getting out of there. Smoked bourbon cocktail was well prepared and price justified. Stayed at The Brunswick the night before and night of my wedding with my husband. The hotel gave us 2 drink tickets so we got beers and sat with our dog outside. The bartender told me the beer options and I went with an IPA from Boothbay. After he poured the 2 beers, another employee came over to say only house beers are eligible for the coupon. He gave them to me anyway but informed me of the rule and to remember next time. 2 mornings later we ate breakfast at Noble. The restaurant smelled like fish upon entering which was unpleasant. The lobster Benedict and the basic egg, bacon and toast breakfasts were both disappointing for the high end price we paid. The service was lacking as there was only 1 waitress. We went here for their Easter buffet. The website did a great job of advertising. Walking up we were pretty impressed. The gentleman that seated us was dressed very nice and the atmosphere was a bit fancy. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. $60 per person for food that I feel like I could have made from prepackaged items at the grocery store. We were pretty disappointed, but hey we just won't go back. Service was also mediocre. Our server wasn't bad, but failed to remove piled plates from our table as she came to check on us. I might sound picky, but that is something that should be done if you don't have your hands full already. One more thing to point out was that their website advertised a whole Easter activity. But the activity was just guessing how many jelly beans were in a jar and coloring an egg with chalk. It looked like someone spent an entire commercial break setting it up. read more

We were very reluctant to dine here due to the crappy reviews since we're a bunch of foodies. The food was actually excellent especially the moussaka, steak frites, chicken and mac and cheese. Here's the thing though. The wine cellar must be in the next county because every time the staff went to get wine they were lost for keeps. Plus, they really have no idea what's down there. There was no teamwork to even relay a message to us via another person to make another choice and they'd be off again to dig through the faraway corridors while others were standing around. We went two nights in a row bc we stayed at the hotel and they ran out of chicken and others wanted to try it. The next night, no chicken! To be clear, we didn't show up on a busy weekend. We went Tuesday and Wednesday, the beginning of their week! The place is beautiful and music adds to a nice experience but what restaurant runs out of chicken and doesn't figure out how to restock on the first night of their week? read more

Went to NK&Bar for both lunch and dinner on a recent overnight stay. Love the restaurant, menu was very cool, service was friendly. I ordered the blistered peppers and the chowder. I am embarrassed to admit that I paid $44 for something they billed as bouillabaisse...a cup of broth in which floated 2 pieces of overcooked fish, 2 shrimp and 3 boiled potatoes. oh- and a piece of toasted bread with curry Aioli (?) on it- the exact same "garnish" as accompanied the mussels. This dish would have been disappointing no matter what they called it but to call it bouillabaisse and charge $44 for it was a travesty. I will not be going back.... read more

The food is a five, but loses points for extremely poor service and incredibly small portions, even for such an expensive restaurant. We sat waiting (and waiting) for even a glass of water and finally called over the Maitre d' and soon discovered no waitress had been assigned to our table, which is unforgivable for a restaurant charges such high prices. Feel sorry for the chef who is preparing some great meals to be saddled with a staff not worthy of his cooking. read more

We have eaten here seven times. The food is dramatically overpriced and is never excellent. Never. Ever. Sometimes it is truly bad: tasteless burgers ($36), watermelon gazpacho that has turned (rotten) ($10), the always-bad bread, being a too-sweet breakfast bread, or a tiny flake of stale, charred bread. Blackened, two-day-old bread is not delicious. They don't even know bread. Or, this a clever way to charge us $7 for three bites of a molasses mini-muffin while we wait forty minutes between courses. Never again: now I bring a vial of cashews. But let's address the real disaster going on here at Noble: frequently the food not fresh. Why, why must you serve anything that isn't fresh, when diners often spend $100 for a burger meal, or $170 for duck? There's just no excuse for the poor quality given the menu prices. The servers and management meanwhile are what make the evening spectacular. What expertise they have. They're the pinnacle of grace, elan and professionalism. You make the evening sparkle, you're the Ritz! And so mostly because of this remarkable team, every few weeks we start to miss Noble's vibe, the atmosphere which they unfurl from start to finish like the most elegant and whimsical and maybe carnival tapestry. A good wine, the attentions of the Noble staff, feels as restorative and balanced and pleasing as a chamber work by Gabriel Faure. Go and find out. But Five Guys makes a better burger, sorry, and some dinner elements are always, not just now and then, fair at best, or even inedible, even spoiled. Should a three-day-old roux ever make it to the table, chefs? The kitchen does not care, that is the problem. Tough, chewy meat, the always terrible and wrongly chosen bread, old, shriveled red cabbage. Sugary sweet, boring tomato jam. Not fresh aoili, not fresh ever. Sometimes the mussels have been so tiny that my partner has laughed when they were presented to him. Look at this one, it's smaller than a quarter! This plate of wee mussels must be a sight gag. The servers are so incredibly careful, and caring, we have never spoiled dinner by sending anything back to the inevitable frenzied backlog in the kitchen. The Noble Kitchen's kitchen, by mid-evening resembles a chaotic and ultimately tragic battle scene, maybe Picasso's 1937 Guernica depicting the Spanish Civil War. It's not the time or place to request a baguette to sop up a good fish broth. Surely the regular customers are too soft-hearted towards their servers to relay a true account of the meal. Who needs the shared humiliation? Because the wait staff must surely know the truth as much as we do: The name, Noble Kitchen, is to be understood as sarcasm. We remember the bad meal until a few weeks or months go buy, then forget, then return, only to groan again at vertiginously falling standards. Noble Kitchen, you are not among the top ten restaurants around here. Please halve your prices, have a serving of farm-to-table humble pie, and do much, much, much better. read more

Dinner was extremely lackluster, for instance the ribeye was not a ribeye and had no flavor, looked like a tenderloin if that, as well as undercooked. The chicken entree had no flavor whatsoever. Found an empty restaurant, but after being looked up and down by the host, we could not be seated. He cited "no capacity" but the echo of the lone guitar told us otherwise. Didn't know jeans and a sweatshirt was worthy of a disgust face and the host immediately calling his manager after asking if we could be seated. We had a girls weekend in Maine and stayed overnight at the Brunswick Hotel. Noble is the in house restaurant and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is upscale casual; great for our group but this would also be romantic for a date night. There was a pianist playing, which was fun but didn't get in the way of our conversation. We felt well cared for by Ryan, our server and Russell, the Food & Beverage Director. The cocktail list had something for everyone, I personally would recommend Opposites Attract for anyone who enjoys a great bourbon cocktail. For a starter I had the pork belly confit with house made kimchi. The kick of the kimchi perfectly balanced the richness of the pork belly and the crunch was phenomenal. My meal was the black cod loin with vichyssoise. The cod was moist with crisp skin and presented beautifully in a pool of vichyssoise that brought a nice depth of flavor. The golden beet relish rounded out the dish with a subtle brightness. I finished with the pink peppercorn pavlova which was a fun surprise. The crisp meringue had just the slightest touch of pepper, creating a nice take on the traditional dessert. The blood orange curd was perfect for a winter dessert. Overall we had a wonderful night. Russell and Ryan were attentive and interactive without interrupting our evening. I would definitely recommend to groups and couples alike and will certainly return the next time I'm in the area. read more

After a multi-year hiatus from a horrible experience, we decided to give Noble another shot. We were looking forward as we've read many good reviews. One guests' drink was flat. The server properly addressed the issue. My virgin cocktail was disgusting. While stirred, it created a mud/diarrhea color and tasted awful. She did not address. We ordered the charcuterie ($21) - picture below. It consisted of 4 cornichons from a jar, 4 bread & butter pickles (tasted as if from a jar, not homemade), 4 slices of cheese (2 were paper thin), 3 1"x1" squares of focaccia bread (not grilled), 3 rolled up Hannaford deli ham, 4 smoked bacon, and 1 tbsp chutney. The presentation was incredibly underwhelming. We've had beautiful boards for the same price and everything was cultivated. One person from our party asked if they could order a burger from the bar menu and was told no. You have to sit at the bar. The couple next to us are regulars so they let them order from the bar menu. Our guest orders burgers from every restaurant in Maine (and orders from secret menus). Chefs know our guest and look forward to his critique/feedback - always trying to get Chris' #1 best burger in then state ranking! The server wouldn't ask. What is the difference between ordering at the bar and joining us at the table? She said - the chef won't allow it. We noticed the couple two tables down had the Farro Verde Salad and she said it was underwhelming. Her partner had the Beef Carpaccio. The dish was oddly platted and looked like it was wallpapered and had congealed under plastic wrap sitting on a shelf in the refrigerator. We paid for our drinks and app (which we only at 1 square of bread, 1 bread & butter pickle and 1 cornichon). The server now had an attitude as if we wasted her time. There was 2 2-tops and we were a 4-top. Everyone else was at the bar. She never tried to retain our business or have the chef handle (or fix my drink). Looking at what we've received, there's no way we will spend $42 for halibut! (they didn't have the Pettit Filet Mignon - they had a strip steak for the same price). We left and Chris realized they cancelled his reservation (on Resy) when he tried to do a quick review. He asked the gentleman acting as the host (he's the bartender). He said, "I don't know what you're talking about." "I don't know how to do that." and then finally admitted to doing it "because you didn't eat dinner". He then said, the server told him to do it. After discussion, he said "you can reserve again and I won't cancel it and you can leave a review now." NOBLE - HORRIBLE PRACTICE!!!! YOU CANCEL PEOPLE'S RESERVATIONS SO THEY CAN'T LEAVE HONEST REVIEWS! NOT ETHICAL. You haven't changed. We talked with some local owners - and they weren't surprised. They are very familiar with the toxic attitude and practices of Noble. Such a shame because 7 years ago, they were awesome. Never will be back and I won't be recommending my 400 guests a summer your way. read more

My wife and I paid our first visit to Noble as part of Maine Lobster Week. Their special was wonderful, especially the sweet corn and lobster Veloute appetizer. Our steaks were grilled exactly as we ordered. Between the app and entree, we got the equivalent of a whole lobster. The service was excellent, with just the right amount of attention to us. No, it wasn't cheap, but lobster and a bottle of wine were involved. We'll be back. It was that good. read more

Don't be fooled. Made a reservation for my wife's birthday online. Sounded new and fun. It was not. This is the Brunswick Tavern with a new name. Same poor service, overpriced food, and uninspiring decor. Website carefully omits any mention of its location and is separate from the hotel's website. If by "located in the heart of Brunswick" means in the heart of the Brunswick Hotel I guess it's not false advertising. We will not be returning no matter what they call it. read more
